This is the third book that I have read from this author. I am finding that she her books are quickly becoming a go to mystery books for me. All of the book have been very good! This book opens with a killing. As the story unravels, it becomes more and more complex. I had no idea of who did it until the final few pages. Thank you to @netgalley for this arc. I will definitely be on the look out for more books by this author!

This book was a bit different than other's I have read of Shari Lapena's. I enjoyed the story and loved the build up of the characters. The story is written about a small town where everyone knows everyone (for the most part) and knows mostly everyone's business (or do they?).

Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin Group for an ARC in exchange for an honest review of the book.

This is a fast-moving, page-turning thriller. If you're looking for a quick read that keeps you on your toes guessing, this is it. In this novel, a small community is rocked by the murder of a beautiful neighbor and the suspects quickly start to pile up.

There are a lot of characters in this book, though they are fairly easy to keep track of. However, like other books in this same genre, there is little depth to them and I found it hard to really connect with any characters on more than a surface level. This is more entertaining and less literary; while it's suspenseful and will keep you turning pages, it isn't designed for deep introspection nor do I suspect it will stay with you long after the final pages. The repetition of plot device was a little much by the end, but that is also something I've come to expect from books in this genre.

So final recommendation: a good choice if you're in the mood for a quick read with not a lot of depth. Lots of red herrings and reasons to read to the end.

When a mother finds out her son has been breaking into homes "just for fun," she writes a letter to the homeowners stating that the break-ins happened, but nothing was taken. Then a neighbor is found murdered and questions about how well all the neighbors really know each other begin to arise. I enjoyed this read by Shari Lapena. While I figured out the end before I got to it, the story was so intriguing that I just had to keep reading!

I couldn’t put this book down! I flew through it and was so shocked at the ending. There were multiple people I thought could have committed the crime in the book, but I never suspected the person who did until closer to the end. The book went through each character who could have possibly done it, with all of them pointing the finger at others, and the clues lead you to believe that that character is the one who committed the crime. For those reason, I love Lapena’s writing. She effortlessly weaves together a story where anything could be possible and the story just twists and turns. . Her characters are also written very well. Some of her characters I hate, some I love, and some I sympathize with. I’ve only read one other book by her, but after reading this one, I will continue to read her other books.

Lots of twists and turns. Good plot development. There could have been a little more character development becasue one character was left flat, but all in all, it was suspenseful and addictive! A definite read!!

This book was so good! It kept me interested until the last page! The inter-mingled relationships just kept unraveling. At one point I almost needed to get out a sheet of paper to figure out who was with who, and who they should have been with, lol. If you like a good who-dun-it, this book is for you. This is definitely one of my favorite authors!

Someone We Know by Shari Lapena is a great whodunit mystery set in a quiet neighborhood. Suddenly a missing woman and the murder of a new resident have the town reeling with suspicion. There are many secrets and carrying ons happening that leads to quite a few suspects. No one is quite sure who they can trust now. This mystery leads to a satisfying conclusion that ties up all of the loose ends. Read and enjoy!

This is a neighborhood you may want to avoid, Someone We Know by Shari Lapena, as there are many women jealous of the new and younger neighbor and there are quite a few men that want to spend time with her - oh by the way she is married as well. There is a murder, a number of suspects and a long list of lies! Hard to put down as you are waiting for the next - surprising - move. Loved it. Thank you #netgalley#someoneweknow#pameladormanbooks

Special thanks to Penguin Random House and NetGalley for granting my request for an ARC of Someone We Know.
Drama abounds in a seemingly quiet community. Infidelity, family dysfunction, and a series of bad choices come to light as local authorities investigate the violent death of a local beauty. Unfortunately, beauty may prove to be only skin deep.

Perfectly executed, Lapena peels back layers of intrigue to expose a neighborhood's dark secrets. Fast-paced, with plenty of twists and turns, Someone We Know will keep you guessing to the very end. If you enjoy suspense, Lapena's latest should be next on your list!

S'OK. I read to the end but I rolled my eyes a lot. The story takes place in New York but sounds as if it is populated by people who are living elsewhere. It is so predictable at times. Borders on trite at others. Of course the women get together and gossip at "Book Club." As an avid reader, that particular trope is getting not only old but offensive. Quit it. And I am so tired of the "twist" that is thrown in. Usually they are so obvious. I wish this had more depth.

I had fun reading this book. Thought a few times I had it figures out, but still a good twist at the end!

I was hooked from the first few sentences! As many of the other novels from the author, I was left guess and my jaw hanging. To be honest, this is my favorite one yet!

Shari Lapena has been one of my favorite authors and she didn't disappoint. I loved every moment of this book and couldn't put it down! Someone We Know keeps you guessing the whole time, while it skillfully unfolds new clues to each character and creates more questions than it answers. You quickly realize that everybody has a secret, but who is guilty of murder? Definitely a must-read!

This was a fast, fun, light read by a favorite of mine, Shari Lapena. The upstate NY town where it takes place is straight out of a Desperate Housewives episode, with everyone sleeping with each other’s husbands/wives, someone breaking into houses just for kicks. When a woman from the neighborhood is found murdered, suspicion runs rampant and neighbor is caught spying on neighbor. Above all, this was highly entertaining with a nice twist at the end.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Bantam Press and Shari Lapena for my complimentary e-copy ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

From start to finish, I had a look of suspense on my face while I was reading. My husband kept asking me what’s happening in the book because my facial expressions would change as I read through the chapters! This is a definite must read. This story is about a small neighborhood filled with people who are more strangers the neighbors. The idea of not knowing what’s going on in the house next-door is a truly chilling thought. This book kept me engaged and guessing the entire time. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to every reader living in a small neighborhood community. Thinking like Forrest Gump, a neighborhood is definitely like a box of chocolates – you don’t know what or who you’re going to get!

Not my favorite Shari Lapena book but it definitely kept my interest. I kind of figured out the ending pretty early on but it was still fun to watch (read) it play out.

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with this ARC of Someone We Know by Shari Lapena.

A sleepy neighborhood is jarred to panic when two neighbors get anonymous letters by a mother, confessing that her son has broken into their home and tampered with their digital lives. Add to that the disappearance and discovery of the body of one of the neighborhood wives, and one can't help but wonder if the two are connected.

Oh my goodness, you're going to need a family tree graph to keep track of who was sleeping with who. And good luck, because after a while I couldn't keep it straight. Neighbors sneaking over to houses, neighbors showing up to each other's works. Neighbors sleeping with neighbors to get back at spouse who also slept with neighbor. I'm bored. Honestly, I lost interest.
