Only A Few Selections

I remember past editions of these Buzz Books being loaded with excerpts. This one has only eight, and the Kindle version I got had no Table of Contents, much less an active Table.

So, here's what you get: "Legacy of the Queen" is a tennis based magic/fantasy tale. "Last True Poets of the Sea" is a depressed teenage girl. "Coral" is a mermaid out of water story. "I'm Not Dying With You Tonight" is black/white urban conflict. "Dear Haiti, Love Alaine" is a Haiti school project essay story. "Harvey Comes Home" is a whimsical dog tale. "Scars Like Wings" is a teen girl with extensive burn scars. "Home Girl" is a tough teen girl in the foster care system.

I have no idea how any of these will do as full length novels. The excerpts didn't get me jazzed about any of them. But, these are all buzzy books that keep coming up, so this is certainly a convenient way to get a good, long first look at them.

(Please note that I received a free ecopy of this book without a review requirement, or any influence regarding review content should I choose to post a review. Apart from that I have no connection at all to either the author or the publisher of this book.)

not my favorite edition...none of the books seemed to spark my interest, it was also very hort compared to the ones I read before. I usually end up selecting a few of the books in bookbuzz...but none this time..

Always great. Love to check out what is upcoming.

Thanks to publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free,it had no bearing on the rating I gave it.

I love this book. A great way to find new releases and get ahead of the game when it comes to knowing what's popular. I think it's a great way to get into different genres and read books I wouldn't normally read.

A bunch of amazing books in this one - my TBR is growing like crazy!

Yet another great compilation of books to look forward to this year! I added almost all of them to my TBR and my release calendar. Thank you for the sneak peek! I will be sharing these with my followers and students!

I'm so excited for these books to come out! I'm so looking forward to them. My wallet won't appreciate them but I cannot wait for many of these to be released.

Always love these seasonal preview collections. Helps to determine what titles make the TBR list. Looks like Fall and Winter 2019 is going to be spectacular for reads.

I highly recommend this sampler to anyone! It’s a great way to check out upcoming titles and see which ones appeal to you. I only read the occasional YA book and there were a few titles I would have missed out on if I had only gone by the description. The writing was so well done they had me hooked on books I would have skipped because I didn’t think they would interest me. It’s a great way too check out new authors.

The buzz books are great. This lists in the front are amazing. Helps me plan my TBR list. The blurbs are very helpful. Even if I don't read them all. They aren't all my cup of tea.

Super helpful to find gifts for teens and YA's. The excerpts are especially helpful in screening content.

Love getting to see these previews! What a helpful document :)

Not sure really how to provide at least 100 words but I will say that this document is so exciting to see highlights of upcoming reads. I love being able to use NetGalley as a blogger and just finished my first 5 star book from here!!

I'm a reviewer that focuses on YA lit, so these Buzz Books are super helpful for me to keep on top of what's on the way! Especially right now as I'm writing a list of anticipated releases in the second half of the year and consider what might make an appearance at BookExpo and BookCon!

BUZZ BOOKS YA – this publication is out and available with titles for Fall and Winter 2019. It's actually very exciting to anticipate new reads from authors like Kekla Magoon, Rainbow Rowell, Libba Bray, and Tomi Adeyemi, to name just a few. There are excerpts from seven new titles and I am looking forward to finishing those, especially THE LAST TRUE POETS OF THE SEA by Julia Drake and I'm Not Dying with You Tonight by Gilly Segal and Kimberly Jones. Plus, the blurbs in BUZZ BOOKS YA, a Publishers Lunch publication, caused me to investigate Bookateria, a great web site which I will be sharing with my librarian colleagues: http://bookateria.publishersmarketplace.com/category/#buzz-books-2019-ya-fall-winter

This year is the eleventh Young Adult Buzz Book. I don't usually read teen books but decided to venture into this popular genre.

The Book Expo's Young Adult Buzz Editor's Panel picks several titles to recommend and the first two were also the ones I chose after reading synopsis and part of a chapter.

Julia Drake's The Last True Poets of the Sea (Hyperion, October 1, 2019) is the story of "a lost shipwreck, a missing piece of family history, and weathering the storms of life." I love that it's set in Maine.

My second choice is Scars Like Wings (Delacorte, October 1, 2019) by Erin Stewart. It's been a year since the fire in which Ava Lee "lost everything. Her parents. Her best friend. Her home. Even her face."

These all seem amazing; thank you for the excerpts! I definitely plan to request a few and hope to read more.

It was a good look into what's coming. I mostly focus on fantasy in my reviews so Sara Ella caught my eye.

Love Buzz Books for giving a quick overview of upcoming books - and including excerpts for many of them! This edition includes samples from two of BookExpo’s Young Adult Buzz Editor’s Panel picks: Julia Drake’s The Last True Poets Of The Sea and Erin Stewart’s Scars Like Wings. And both their first sentences totally draw you in! These two are officially on my radar now.

Also notable is Home Girl by Alex Wheatle, about a teenage girl in the foster care system. I read a lot, but I don't think I've ever read something like that - high time this very real situation for so many is portrayed in a YA book.

And Harvey Comes Home by Colleen Nelson - let's be real, I'll read anything with a dog on the cover. But this one sounds like a really cute, heartwarming story.
