this was such a fun and light holiday romance! it really reads like a Hallmark Christmas movie. I loved the familial aspects to it. even though who Sophie ends up with was pretty predictable, I really didn't care because I just enjoyed the reading process so much. |
I have a weakness for contemporary YA with adorable families and this one took the cake. Her family is SO LARGE and so engagingly awesome. I really enjoyed the family aspects, the hilarity of a blind date contest, and the so super cute romance. |
This is such a cute & fun book. I really like Sophie and her family, they're a total riot! I'm definitely looking into more of Elston's books |
I was a little wary about this book at first at it had such huge potential to become a love triangle story. But it was clear from the start who the MC would fall for and I really enjoyed watching how this all unfolded. Loved her crazy family and can't wait for the companion book. |

This was really cute and really fun. I appreciated that quite a few of the dates were fairly average with only a couple real duds. I don't think it's a new favorite, but it was a really well paced romcom. |
I loved how focused on family this book was. Sophie's family was a riot. Their shenanigans will have you laughing and her relationship with some of her family members including her sister and her cousin will have you tearing up. My only minor complaint about this book would be that I wanted to see more of Sophie actually connecting with the love interest that she ends up with. Overall, this was a super cute read and one sure to bring a smile to your face! |
I’m usually not one to read holiday books around the holidays. I feel like my life is so inundated with holiday cheer that a book set in that time is just too much. But this past December I decided to read 10 Blind Dates, which takes place around Christmas and New Year’s, after hearing people rave about it. And I have to tell you, it was so ridiculously cute and sweet and charming, I didn’t want it to end. It was the perfect blend of holiday and romance and comedy and when it was over I wanted more books. 10 Blind Dates is the story of Sophie, a girl looking forward to her holiday of freedom without her overbearing parents. She is staying with her grandmother and her crazy Italian family, but she plans to get some alone time with her boyfriend and her friends. That is until she is left heartbroken when said boyfriend unexpectedly breaks up with her. Now with a lot of free time on her hand and a heart to mend Sophie is convinced by her family to go on 10 blind dates. Soon Sophie finds herself on some really awesome dates and some really cringe worthy dates. But as the time passes her hearts starts to heal and her eye starts to wander to someone that might have been there all along. What I loved most about 10 Blind Dates has to be Sophie’s family. They are all CRAZY CRACKERS and I loved them for it. Each one had their own personality and it showed up in the date they planned and the person they picked for it. By far though my favorite part of Sophie’s family were her cousins Olivia and Charlie and Charlie’s BFF Wes. They were the 3 that really brought Sophie to life and reminded her what life was like when she spent more time around all the crazy and less wrapped up in her separate life with her jerk of an ex-boyfriend. Seeing this group of teens that were once close find that place again was the highlight for me. In the end 10 Blind Dates was the kind of book I yearn to read. Was it predictable? Definitely. Did I care? Definitely not. It was just a fun story with a lot of heart and humor and a group of close knit family. I didn’t want this book to end but since it had to I now want books about Olivia and Charlie and Sara and all the rest of Sophie’s crazy clan. It is no longer the holiday season, but I definitely recommend you pick this one up! |
This was a fun Christmasy rom com. The story moves along quickly, I read this in two sittings, and the pacing is spot on. While it’s obviously a romantic comedy, the story still focuses on family and friendship, which was nice. |
I liked this book for a quick Christmas-y book. For someone that doesn't usually read contemporaries it had a lot that kept me wanting to keep reading |
Had very high hopes for this book. But it was an odd concept for a YA book. I didn’t like that Sophie felt she needed a man. Kind of a weird thing for high schoolers. |
This book was so good! I loved the big family dynamic and the drama that ensued throughout this book. I just didn't love the ending as much. I wish it would have wrapped up better and i was left feeling dejected by the ending. |
3.5/5 stars Such a sweet, funny story about family, friends and getting closer to them around the holidays! The dates were often laugh out loud hilarious. I loved watching Sophie navigate the dates to find out more about herself and ultimately discover what's missing in her life. I definitely liked this author's writing style and look forward to future books. |

I am from an Italian background so reading a book like this with characters of a similar background as me was so heartwarming. My Nonna means the world to me and this book just left me feeling so happy. I am hoping to save money to purchase a copy of this book because I want to re-read it and add to my home library. Thank you Ashley Elston! :) |
Sophie is finally getting the house to herself, when her parents go to visit her pregnant sister for the holidays. She hopes to use her empty house for some alone time with her boyfriend. When she goes to tell him the good news, she overhears him talking crap about her and breaks up with him. While he could care less, Sophie is devastated. Not willing to spend time dwelling on it alone, she heads to her family's house for Christmas festivities. Sophie is having a great time hanging out with her cousins, who were more like friends then family. There is a bit of old emotional baggage, since Sophie always felt just outside of the group because she lived far away. Her family is there to help her get over her latest boy drama and then have decided to use the Christmas season to plan ten dates. Each member takes a different day and makes their own wacky plans. I typically like family books, but I had trouble keeping track of the characters. I think if the cast of characters was paired down (but alluded to) and developed more it would have flowed better. It was a great Christmas romance that I think many teens will enjoy. |
I loved this book so much! I ended up reading it right around Christmas and I couldn't get enough of the story. I loved the characters and the plot so much. I can't wait to read more from this fantastic author. |
If you’re looking for a fun Christmas-time read, you will love 10 Blind Dates! It’s full of love, laughter, and festive holiday-themed activities. The main character’s large and chaotic extended family is a focal point of the story, and you’ll wish you were a part of this tight-knit clan after reading the book. Plus, there’s a cute boy next door/childhood best friend romance that you will be rooting for throughout all the ridiculous dates and antics. Fans of Morgan Matson’s Save the Date will love 10 Blind Dates! |
So charming and in the holiday spirit! Could not put it down! Perfect and fluffy read for the holiday season! The characters became well-developed throughout the story, and the read was not only cute in the romance aspect, there were parts I could easily laugh with! Is it predictable? Well... not going to disappoint, but yeah, it is. But that made for a great happy ending that I enjoyed nonetheless! Would totally recommend this one for a nice Christmas read for young a |
I reallyyy enjoyed this one. The only thing was it was pretty predictable, I figured out the ending about 20% in. But it was still really good and the perfect read for Christmas. I absolutely loved the couple and I wish we got to see more of them together. |
This is the cutest holiday romance. I had a ship from the start and I was so happy that thread kept going throughout the book. I love the themes of family, friendship, and love. I could totally read this book every December! |
10 Blind Dates is fun holiday read. After a recent breakup, Sophie is challenged by her large family to venture out on 10 blind dates before New Years Eve. Along the way, she learns about love, family, and herself. I really enjoyed this cute story. Highly recommend to YA romcom readers. Thanks Disney Book Group and NetGalley for the ARC of this title. |
