I have read a few books by this author and this was my favorite fantasy romance yet! I really enjoyed the dynamic between Kasia and Brand and liked how their romance was developed. Looking forward to the next shifter romance in the series!

Ahhh! What a wonderful book. I loved it so much! I think I just found a new favourite author… :D

This story was so wonderfully written. Definitely one of the best shifter stories I’ve read in quite some time. It sucked me in from the very beginning (that prologue was awesome) and wouldn’t let go… although, I did have to pry myself away a couple times, because, you know… sleep is necessary (unfortunately). :P

I really loved Brand and Kasia, and truly appreciated how the “fated mates” aspect was handled. No insta-love or insta-lust that had them falling into bed at the get-go. Rather, it was an instant attraction that slowly simmered, bubbled and grew over the course of the story. Just tantalizing and angsty enough to keep my stomach all tied up in knots while I fretted (right along with them) about how their bonding could ever work out, with a happy ending for all involved…

And can I just mention how much I loved Maul?

“A familiar snarl sounded close by. Swinging his head around, Brand located Maul, happily ripping into the delicate wing membranes of a gold dragon who screamed in agony.”

LOL!! Good doggy! But seriously, where can I adopt a Hellhound?

Although this story ends with a satisfying conclusion, there’s obviously going to be an overarching plot that continues on into the next book. There are certain objectives that haven’t been reached yet, and a couple secrets that have yet to be revealed. And that ending… Ahhh!!! *happy dance* It looks like “you know who” will definitely be getting his story, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! (He was so intriguing).

Where are you, book 2? Oh, fuckballs (*winks*)… it hasn’t been published yet. :P

For those of you out there who love dragon-shifter stories, I highly recommend this one!

This novel was a great read to start the series. There are many different magical creatures in this novel, if you enjoy that. I loved the interaction between Kasia and Brand, both stubborn and determined. Kasia is a phoenix and is running from the evil that killed her parents. She and her sisters were separated just before her mother was killed, to protect them. Kasia has been in hiding, but someone leaked out her location. Brand, a dragon shifter, found her first and was immediately attracted to her. Kasia has seen him from her visions and knew he would protect her. As they travel to bring Kasia to the king of the Blue Clan, neither can deny the passion and sparks between them. Brand wants revenge to those who killed his parents, leaving him alone and classified as a rogue, yet hiding in plain sight. Kasia wants to do what is right to protect her sisters, yet cannot deny her heart. Whomever mates the phoenix will be the high king and many want Kasia. Brand wants to belong to a clan, yet he cannot the truth to what he feels towards Kasia. When past truths are revealed, Kasia is deeply hurt. The battle for Kasia is on and I cannot wait to read the next novel in the series and discover what Kasia's sisters have been up to!

I loved Kasia! She was spirited, resourceful, and full of surprises! She made no bones about having an opinion and when facing a roomful of dragon shifters, that’s saying something! She also had the coolest creature for a pet, even if he left a smoky smell behind. And then there’s Brand. He was awesome! A rogue dragon shifter with a mercenary status and hidden secrets, even other shifters don’t really mess with him. He also underestimated Kasia once, but it was enough for him to figure out he’s met his match. Too bad he’s retrieving her for someone else and not himself...

Brand and Kasia’s connection was sweltering hot and their interactions had me smiling like crazy. Even when things were serious, since I never knew what these two would do next! Since trouble always seemed to find Kasia, I also knew I was in for a wild ride! And I kept my fingers crossed Brand would realize what he’d be missing out on if he truly did his job.

I literally devoured this book in a few hours! The Rogue King was a thrilling read! There’s so much happening in this book, but what stood out...a few spies, lots of secrets, some sexy, protective dragon shifters, wolf shifters, a fantastic battle with really mad dragons, and a smoking hot romance that could burn the ground down! This is book one of the Inferno Rising series and according to the author’s newsletter, is a crossover story from the Fire’s Edge series. While I think this book could be read by itself, I believe there would be more enjoyment if you start with the previous series.

Then again, who needs an excuse to read about dragon shifters?!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
