Oh. My. Holy. Dragon heaven Batman!!!! After falling in love with this author's other Dragon series, Fire's Edge, I KNEW I had to pick this up. Thank goodness I did because I couldn't put this down...and I still want MORE!!!!!

Kasia isn't your typical woman. In fact, she's extremely rare and considered a valued object. Yes, you heard that right, object. Being a phoenix, she has the power that would give any dragon shifter the ultimate power over their kind. But after what happened to her mother, dragon shifters are the last thing she wants to be around. Too bad the man of her dreams happens to be one.

Brand is a rogue, and not by choice. After living hundreds of years as a mercenary, it looks like his time to serve may be coming to an end. Mainly because all he has to do is deliver the phoenix to his friend, earning him a family in return. But now that he's seen the phoenix, all he can think about is protecting her. And not just for his friend, but for himself. Things just got a lot more interesting.

The chemistry between Brand and Kasia is super hot...literally. But this story was way more than just their chemistry. Each had their own demons to work through, and found trust in each other to over come them....eventually. The characters we meet along the way pulled my strings just as much as these two main characters, which is another reason I'm so excited for this series.

If this is the beginning of a new series, I need to be signed up for the box set NOW! This was quite the debut for a series and I'm already chomping at the bit to get my hands on the next one, and the one after that. Just keep em coming!!!!

This is the first book that i have read by this author and i can say without a doubt i will be reading more of her work, and will definitely be looking at reading the rest of this series. This book was awesome.

The book starts with a Prologue a year prior letting us know how Kasia's life changed and is from the point of view of her mother Serafina and the race to get to her daughters and depart her powers to them.

The four sisters are split up in the hope that they will have a better chance of survival. Kasia has been having a few problems and has seeked out help that unfortunately has led to other undesirable people finding out her existence.

The chemistry between Brand and Kasia leaps of the pages and there is so much suspense with them travelling as to whether they will be caught, when Brand and Kasia will get together, will they see any of the other sisters that you are constantly kept on your toes.

I love how this story was weaved together and the world created within the human world, just kept off the grid.

I look forward to book two in the series and hope it is between Ladon and Skylar.

She was spirited, resourceful, and full of surprises! I loved Kasia. She knew exactly who and what she was, she knew of the “other world” (shifters and magic) she also knew the dangers, (her mother had been killed at an early age, and had instilled the need to be wary and cautious) her mother had sent her daughters away from each other with the aid of magic, she was being hunted by a dragon king who had heard of the legend “he who mates a Phoenix will rule all the dragon houses” and he wanted Kasia’s mother. Being thwarted, he now has his sights on acquiring Kasia (he doesn’t know about her sisters)....

Brand wants justice, he wants revenge. He’s had to wait a long time for both, but with his new mission, all his hard work will soon pay off. But meeting Kasia, he doesn’t want to hand her over, he wants to keep her, and maybe just maybe, he will be able to claim his revenge and his place in dragon world.

I liked this story, Kasia and Brand were a good match. Both were alone, not trusting anyone, both looking for justice.

And we see more of the world that the dragons live in, and the “mad king” (he’s been around a long time, and if you don’t mate, you go mad and start to decompose)

This was so AWESOME!!! I’m sure exactly what I was expecting but this was so much more! Nothing new in the evolution of these characters, but the dynamics and the flow of the story was fast paced at times and smooth at others . I enjoyed every page, the build up and discoveries along the way were exciting to read. I’m looking forward to the next story in this addicting new series.

**I received a copy of The Rogue King (Inferno Rising) from Net Galley and Entangled Amara in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions expressed below are mine alone and not solicited.**

The Rogue King by Abigail Owen is the first book in her Inferno Rising series and boy is it ever a wild ride from start to finish. The first chapter begins with Serefina (Kasia's mother) who'll protect her daughters even giving her own life. As she's a Phoenix they're a a prize to the Dragon Clans as wives because they prolong their lives. Now I have to say that my knowledge on this mythical beautiful bird is limited to Harry Potter and Percy Lightning books but Ms. Owens did her research quite well I loved this book and give it a 5++ star rating.

Kasia Amon has been on the run and in hiding but her powers as a Phoenix are suddenly uncontrollable with visions. When Brand Astarot finds her at a special hospital he's able to take her fire within himself but they are soon on the run back to the Blue Dragon clan from shifters and dragons. Can they get to the Blue Dragon clan in Scotland in time or will Pytheios and other dragons take her?

Brand Astarot is a Rogue dragon PI working for Ladon the Blue Dragon's King but he has a secret that he's not willing to share even to his best friend. He's been tasked to bring Kasia to Scotland and Ladon so they can marry. But problems are everywhere when they try to reach the clan plus can Ladon but can he resist his feelings and not make her his? There will be an Epic fight in the end that will have you glued to the book trying to find out how it will all end. Plus a teaser as to who is also protecting Kasia and might she be the one destined for Ladon?

This book is so long the story just goes on and on. While this is a really good story and the characters are interesting it was a bit wordy and could be edited down. The prologue was so long I didn’t read it after the first few paragraphs.
Kasia is a strong, independent character but then something happens when she is in the blue kingdom, she loses this strength and the story focuses on her training and these odd relationships with her guards. It just didn’t make sense to me, that she was obviously not comfortable being there and there was no love connection to Ladon like there was to Brand and yet she stayed for weeks when she wanted to leave. The overprotectiveness for her sister, who she doesn’t want to know where she is, is just odd too. Then Skyler who we never heard of comes walking in at the end of the book. What?
The relationship between Brand and Kasia is a fun back and forth. When she steals his car, that’s a great start to this wild ride they go on. Didn’t like that he just took her to Ladon and became her bodyguard, he never talked to her about his ideas or his feelings for her that were developing despite how confused he was over them. Once Brand finally got out of his head and followed his heart and really open himself up to her, he left and she woke up alone, with questions and uncertainty and he was not around to tell her how much he was in love with her. Ugh.
To many accessory characters to follow along, I did a lot of paragraph skipping with the parts of the black dragon who was super creepy and all his cohorts.
Overall, it was a good read with fascinating characters with some really creative situations.

Kasia Amon is a master at hiding. Who and what she is makes her a mark for the entire supernatural world. Especially dragon shifters. When I started reading I couldn't put it down.Abigail Owen is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can't wait for the next book.

Kasia is special and has been hiding her whole life. What she is… a rare find in the paranormal world and that makes it dangerous for her. Her mother was murdered for what they are. But she has been having visions and with the visions come uncontrollable fire and pain. So she is forced out of hiding to seek the help of a doctor. One who specializes in paranormals.

Brand is a rogue dragon shifter with a quest for revenge. To take out the man who killed his family. He has been on his own since he was a small child, barely escaping the slaughter of his family. Little does anyone know of his origins and he would like to keep it that way. Now a mercenary for hire, he finds things that people want and gets them. Which brings him to his current assignment and the last step in his quest.

Easy right? Guess again. When Brand meets Kasia he immediately recognizes her for what she is. Not only that but he is instantly drawn to her. He feels her pain during the visions and he can control her fire and the pain soothes when he touches her. What is happening? How can this be? Yep! His mission just got a lot harder.

Can Brand deliver her to the Blue Clan king as per his quest?

Wow!!! The books in this series just gets better and better. Abigail Owen makes it hard to choose a favorite. The Rogue King is the first in the Inferno Rising series, a spin off from her Fire’s Edge series. I have to say I loved every minute of this book. It was a dangerous ride.

The characters in this book were amazing. Kasia is a surprising and very resourceful woman. Hey she stole a car by hot wiring it. How cool is that. She was an amazing character who was very kindhearted and true to herself. She was willing to put others before her own safety. Her charater was refreshing and sweet.

Brand was definitely a hot commodity. That man was sizzling. He was strong and very independent. The strong silent type. He kept his wall up around his heart as he was determined to get the revenge he so rightly deserved. But he was also protective and sweet, yet humble. He did not believe that he deserved to be loved or have a mate.

Kasia and Brand had this chemistry that was so strong, it was off the charts. How they could deny it was beyond me. They had this connection that just would not stop or go away. A bond that was strong and hard to pull away from.

Overall this book was an amazing beginning to a new series. Even though it is a new setting, we still get a small dose of some old characters from the previous series, which I love. Abigail Owen is a master at writing dragon shifters. She has all the aspects of hot dragon men down to a science. Each one is not only hot and very dominate, they are smart and kind. The world she has built around these characters feel so real and unique. I love the way you feel the passion of her characters in each story. I have cried many times reading these books, as I feel the emotion rolling off the pages. Emotions that a hard to ignore, yet feel amazing. This book is no different.

I truly recommend this book to all you paranormal romance book lovers out there. These dragon shifters are worthy of your love as readers. They are fun, loyal, loving and not to be trifled with. You are guaranteed to fall in love with each book you read. So pick up a copy today. You will be glad you did.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley.

This was my 3rd read of Abigail Owen. It takes place in the same world as her other dragon stories like The Boss and The Rookie. I've enjoyed reading about this world and the different dynamics and politics coming into play.

There's lots of action, dragon shifting, and other various supernatural elements. I liked Brand and Kasia even though I didn't feel like this story had as much relationship development as some of her other stories. There is definitely a lead in for the next story in the series and I will be on the lookout.

It’s been quite a while where I truly enjoyed a book lately! This took me out of my slump and has me so very interested even after it’s done!

I have a thing about Dragon shifter books so when this popped up I just had to have it. I’ve had my fill of these books but this one sits apart because of the Phoenix. Two of my favorite mythological creature together!

The concept behind this is fresh and intriguing! Kasia born of the last known Phoenix, along with her 3 other sisters (which is extremely rare as to be impossible), has been hiding out for a year; separated from all she loves and keeping it that way to keep them safe. Now captured and being taken to the very boogy men her mother warned her about, Kasia has a choice to make. Her species is known now and she needs help keeping herself safe and while she isn’t fond of it, dragons are her only choice.

Brand is taking Kasia to his friend and king of a clan. He never thought he’d have any interest in Kasia except to help further his agenda. She says she knows him from her visions and that he’ll never hurt her. He doesn’t know what to do with that, much less her.

The journey they go on together is exciting. While it isn’t extremely action packed it has the right amount!

I’m glad there will be more to this series!

This is the first book I've read from this author and it definitely won't be my last. It was absolutely fantastic!!! This paranormal story was non-stop action from beginning to end. I loved the characters, the storyline and the authors writing style. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. The female characters in this story, especially Kasia were not weak in any way. I love that they say what they want and mean what they say. They hold their own against all of the male characters and let them know from the start that they will not just sit back and watch. Kasia and Brand's story is one that must be read and I'm excited to read Landon's story. I know from this cliffhanger ending that he will definitely have his hands full and that his mate will challenge him as much as Kasia did Brand. I can't wait for the next book.

The Rogue King
by Abigail Owen

Brand a dragon king with no clan, a rogue for hire. Kasia is a Phoenix in hiding, and constantly goes up in flames as she has visions.

It all started in a paranormal psychiatric hospital. She thought she’d be safe and get some help, but she was unaware of the betrayal that had taken place. When a dragon shows up to check her out to verify what she is, she’s finds he’s the man from her visions. Kasia decides it’s time to leave quickly and quietly. And that’s the beginning of the adventure!

It’s a slow burn romance. Giving us time to see each other’s personalities and how they work together. Kasia was unsure about King Ladon, but she knew He was not her true mate. He almost felt like he could be about as ruthless as the “bad” kings.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one in this series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

THE ROGUE KING is a thrilling new spin-off series perfect for fans of Donna Grant and Sherrilyn Kenyon. As a fan of Owen’s dragon shifters, FIRE’S EDGE series, I was excited to pick up this new book- and dare I say, it is even better than FIRE’S EDGE, which I also love. This new series combines the dragon shifters with other paranormal creatures and expands this delightful fantasy world.

In this book, Kasia is a phoenix who has long been hiding for hundreds of years with her mother and sisters. She has been raised to understand the dangers dragon shifters can pose to them, as there is a prophecy that a dragon king will mate a phoenix, become the high king, and rule over the dragons, bringing peace to all. Aside from dragons, other paranormal creatures are also hunting them for the supposed properties of their blood.

When Brand, a rogue dragon (meaning he does not belong to one of the color clans), is sent to determine if Kasia is a phoenix and if so, to bring her to one of the kings, he finds more than he bargained for. He feels a connection to Kasia and wants to help protect her. He convinces her to go with him to the king, but he cannot deny the romantic pull he feels for her. As they travel, they encounter all sorts of paranormal creatures, setting up for what I am sure will be some fascinating future books also.

The world-building in this book is absolutely fantastic, and I loved the dynamics between Kasia and Brand. I loved each of them separately and as a couple. There are some really steamy scenes in this book, and I absolutely loved the evolution of their relationship and the way everything comes together. The new creatures we get to see in this book are also really intriguing, and I can’t wait to explore them all more in future novels. I highly recommend this book for fans of paranormal and/or shifter romances- this is an incredible read, and I can’t recommend it enough!

Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher through netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Ohhh, this is a first read by this author for me and I really enjoyed this one. The world building was good. This is just what I look for in a paranormal read. Oh boy and the epilogue sets up for the next one and I can't wait.

I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I received an advanced reader's copy of The Rogue King by Abigail Owen from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I had previously read a few other novels by Abigail Owen that I enjoyed so I held my breath a little starting this book in case it didn't measure up. Happily, it was as enjoyable as the others and there was no need to worry!

Overall, I this was a solid romance and I found it to be well written. Nothing was outside of the norm for this book genre, but the primary characters were fun. I enjoyed the primary and secondary characters' interactions and their banter to be amusing. All in all, it was a fun, quick read!

The Rogue King is a great start to a new series by Abigail Owen. Right from the prologue, the story pulls you in. You are already a witness to what a mother will do to protect their young. This is Kasia’s story.

Kasia and her three younger sisters were separated for their protection and each have been in hiding for the past year. Kasia had to come out of hiding when uncontrollable events starts to happen to her. Unfortunately, her possible lineage may have been outed and the first to find her is a rogue dragon shifter, Brand Astarot. From their first meeting, you can already see the connection between the two. But Kasia is unable to trust so she tries to run, unfortunately she was no match for Brand and his determination to bring her in.

A lot happens before the happily ever after for Kasia and Brand, despite their attraction and amazing chemistry, it is Brand’s mission for revenge that keeps them apart. It was actually really frustrating for me waiting for the two of them to figure out what they mean to each other. There is some heartbreak, tough decisions that are made, and some intense battle scenes but they eventually get their HEA.

Despite my frustrations with Brand, the action packed scenes and the great banter between Kasia and Brand definitely kept my interest. I really enjoyed their story and after that epilogue, I can’t wait for the next in this series.

Thank you Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read this complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

This is book 1 in the Inferno Rising series. It's about Brand Astarot and Kasia Amon. Brand is a rogue who has been sent to find the one being who is basically a one way ticket to the high throne. Delivering her to the Blood King will earn him a place in the clan and move him one step closer to giving him his chance at retribution. Kasia has been in hiding her whole life and is just trying to not only survive but to try to stay out of the hands of the dragons. What she never expects is for her kidnapper/protector to become someone that she comes to care about. But can he truly be trusted?

This is the first book I have read by this author and it definitely won't be the last one! I absolutely loved it! Kasia has this perfect attitude and I absolutely loved everything about her!! Even with everything that has happened since before her birth, she still manages to find things to make herself somewhat happy. Brand has been through absolute hell and still hasn't learned to let go of his need for revenge. However, he is finally learning that there are more important things than revenge. And reading about his struggles just makes you love him even more. I can't wait for the next book in this series and it is a definite must read for me!

I received an arc copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest review. This book series follows along with the author’s dragon king series Fire’s Edge, but has a nice little twist with many more types of paranormal characters. Kasia is a Phoenix having just come into her powers upon her mother’s death. Brand is a rogue dragon looking for revenge. Their relationship is a gradual build, instead of an instaromance with a nice blend of attraction and humor. Along their journey Brand comes to realize that revenge, while satisfying is not all life is about and Kasia learns to trust her partner. And the heat between the two can light a fire (literally). While you do not necessarily need to read the Fire’s Edge series first it does explain some of the behind the scene aspects. This was a great book and I hope Landon’s story comes out next (hopefully soon). 5 stars
