Sometimes being an empath can be a wonderful thing - and sometimes it can be super frustrating. Ora North perfectly captures what it can feel like to take on other people's emotions and what you can do to protect yourself (especially from energy vampires and narcissists.)

I was expecting this book to be pretty woo-woo, but there was actually so much basis in psychology. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it read more like a self-help book with practical exercises to try rather than something more ephemeral.

I think anyone who has empathic tendencies can benefit from reading this book, but even more so if you've experienced any kind of trauma in your life. Her ideas dovetail pretty seamlessly with IFS therapy and parts work, which makes her suggestions easy to implement. I also really loved how much hope there was to this and the emphasis on appreciating and leaning into your empathy was really helpful.
