I Don't Want To Be An Empath Anymore: How to reclaim your power over emotional overload, maintain boundaries & live your best life by Ora North is a practical guide to harnessing your inner empath by drawing protective barriers and boundaries and learning to put your own practical and emotional needs first, while still honoring the gift of compassion that makes empathetic individuals special in the first place. I don't claim to have any special empathetic powers, but I am sometimes uncomfortably tuned into the needs and desires of others to the point where they often supersede my own. When I read the description of this book, I thought it might help by giving practical advice and solutions re: how to recognize these moments when they occur and then act in accordance to what's right for the situation... and that's exactly what I felt I got from it. A fast read--you can get through it in an evening--I Don't Want To Be An Empath Anymore offers advice and ruminations for folk who find they need a little extra psychic protection from outside forces in the world.

Fascinating exploration of how empaths experience the world. Upon this first reading, I took the angle of the empath working on building excellent boundaries. Whether realized or not, the empath is constantly receiving and processing energies of people around them, so the task is just to get those boundaries up and *make it possible for others to respect them,* which is something I haven't seen in empath studies before. The author creates a smooth, safe lesson plan that we can easily use, and doesn't lead us into spirals of confusing studies about other, related topics. I'm not a fan of inner child wanderings that can feel like muck in an otherwise clean, directional, and relatable work, and North creates a responsible handling here. Very good stuff. I'll hang onto this and read it again in the future to fine tune my empath boundary building. I'm at an advantage now, having read this excellent book.

I really liked this book! I found it very relatable, and insightful as to how I feel, and why I feel this way. I loved the journal activities, and I think without them, the book would have been repetitive. They made the book far more interactive and engaging.

I Don't Want to Be An Empath Anymore gives a different perspective on the usual way that we're told to deal with emotions. With some being bad and some being good, which in turn creates a dissociate reality. The book is very helpful for empaths whether they have already grown to distinguish their feelings from others or not.

"There is nothing sacred about losing yourself disguised as a holy mission".
I feel that this is the pinnacle of life as an empath. Ora North is a self proclaimed healer and empath learning how to heal herself.
I have read a lot of books about being an empath or a HSP and never have I found one as useful as this one. I loved the activities Ora provided to engage in the empath characteristics of oneself.
I would highly recommend for you or the empath in your life!
