This is the fourth book in the series but my first so it can definitely be enjoyed as a standalone.
This was an entertaining mystery that was fun to read. The characters were quirky, funny, and intriguing. The mystery moves at a smooth steady pace with plenty of twists and turns. I will definitely check out more of this series.

All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way have I been influenced by anyone.

First and foremost – Thank you Beyond the Page Publishing for picking up Kay Finch’s Bad Luck Cat Mystery series. I am beyond ecstatic so see Sabrina Hitchcock continue their adventures. Congratulations, Kay!

A new library is being built and everyone is excited for the construction to finish and the library to open. During the construction, the new librarian dishes out orders to the construction crew left and right, leading to a temporary halt in the work. Then, the discovery of a body on the premises of the construction site, shuts the work down for good until the crime is solved. Sabrina finds herself investigating another murder where many people have the means, motive, opportunity to commit the act.

The Black Cat Steps on a Crack is a wonderful fourth cozy mystery in Kay Finch's Bad Luck Cat Mystery series. The plot is full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end. The entire book will engage the reader from beginning to end. The descriptive content makes visualizing the scenes an easy task. The novel is fast paced and enjoyable. The motive for the murder, as well as who did it, was cleverly disguised.

All of the characters are written with realism. The character development continues with the main characters and the addition of new characters. We aren't bogged down with unnecessary details or boring character biographies. We receive the right amount of detail and description for each character. The conversations flow smoothly and are realistic. They flow so well that you think you're standing nearby involved in the topic of discussion. I’m excited to be back in Texas with Sabrina and Hitchcock and I hope to be able to visit again!

I was provided a copy of this book to read.

This is by far one of my favorite series. I always get lost in the world of Sabrina and Hitchcock. The mystery was very intriguing and kept guessing until the very end. I laughed at the antics of the scrap booking group and Aunt Ro. I did not want this book to end and can't wit to read the next book. I highly recommend this book and series. If you haven't read a book in this series yet you can read this one but when you finish you are going to want to read the whole series

I so want a Hitchcock, great name for a mystery solving cat. Another great feline cozy to add to the growing trend of good authors. I loved this story. It was fun, witty, and gave you a good run for a mystery. I also loved Sabrina and her personality. Will read the first ones.

Sabrina is celebrating the release of her book. The librarian for the new library being built is murdered and Sabrina's best friends husband is the main suspect. Sabrina and Hitchcock, her cat, search for clues to figure out who the murderer really is. I love cozy mysteries with cats and this is one of the best!

With the construction of the new library nearing completion, Serena is thrilled that the new librarian is going to feature her newly published book. In fact the librarian seems to be taking over her publicity and schedule. When she and her cat, Hitchcock go to the library for a photo shoot by Jane the librarian they find her dead. Now her best friend's husband is the main suspect and she and Hitchcock work to clear his name. This is book 4 in the Bad Luck Cat Mystery series and can be read as a stand alone. Set in Texas this is a good cozy with a little romance and a lot of fun. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This series is just ok for me. As much as I like cozy mysteries with kitties, this one leaves me feeling meh... Don’t take my word on it though, I seem to be in the minority!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book, which I voluntarily chose to review.

The Black Cat Steps on a Crack is another exciting installment in Finch's Bad Luck Cat mystery series. I always find myself looking forward to reading the next installment in this series, and this book was definitely worth the wait. Determined to focus on her own mystery that she is writing, Sabrina finds herself distracted when her cat, Hitchcock, discovers another dead body. When a friend of Sabrina's is named a top suspect, Sabrina has no choice but to try and solve this mystery herself.

Finch does a great job at setting up a compelling mystery with this one, and the book captures your attention from the beginning and never lets go. I loved seeing my favorite secondary characters back again especially Aunt Rowe who finds some new adventures to get herself into much to Sabrina's dismay. Having a close friend as a suspect really made the stakes higher for Sabrina and sets up a good conflict between Sabrina and the police department. Overall The Black Cat Steps on a Crack was an entertaining read that I would most definitely recommend. I look forward to reading Sabrina and Hitchcock's next adventure.

Sabrina lives in Lavender, Texas with her black cat Hitchcock. Sabrina is a budding author with her first book due out in the fall. She’s thrilled that the town is getting a new library. The new librarian, Jane Alcott, is an enthusiastic and energetic person. And it turns out after she’s murdered, her past is a mystery.

Sabrina and her “bad-luck” cat are out to solve this mystery. This is book 4 in the series but my first. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

This is the first book I have written by Kay Finch and I requested it as I have a thing about black cats! Thank you Netgally and publisher for letting me have the copy.

I was a little lost to start as I didn't realise it was 4th in a series but I soon got into the book.

The library is under renovation and there is also work being done on the parking lot. There project is under a tight budget and there is pressure from the librarian who seems to come out of nowhere and then disappears (I won't spoil it!). A body is found on the site, adding to the mystery.

The book had a lot of twists and turns and Sabrina's black cat, is very much his own great character. It was a well written, good pace and an enjoyable read- perfect for a relaxing read on holiday!

Thanks to NetGalley and Beyond the Page Publishing for an ARC of this book. I have also posted my review on Amazon Stowv55

Black Cat Steps on a Crack is the fourth book in this series. The town library is under renovation and there is also work being done on the outside parking lot. There is tension as the project is under a tight budget and timeframe along with pressure from the new librarian, June Alcott. She seems to come out of nowhere and is murdered just after she had promised main character Sabrina help with publicity with her new book. June's body is found on the job site, adding to the mystery.
The book had a lot of interesting plot twists and Sabrina does her own investigating into June's background. Hitchcock, Sabrina's black cat, is very much his own independent character. It was a well-paced, comfortable and enjoyable cozy read--perfect for a summer day!

Thanks to NetGalley and Beyond the Page Publishing for an ARC of this book. My review is voluntary.

Poor Hitchcock has worked his way into the town folks superstitious mind, by them claiming he is a bad luck cat, what utter rubbish, according to his owner Sabrina. While her cat has the nose for dead bodies she as the snoopy nose that warrants her getting into trouble with the law. She was too much of a curious soul to let things go at face value, she needed to know and doing her amateur sleuthing not only help her solve the crime, it also made her a nuisance with the Sheriff department. An interesting and intriguing tale.

The Black Cat Steps on a Crack is a delightful addition to this realistic mystery series by Kay Finch. I was so happy to read this book with the return of Sabrina, Aunt Rowe, and Hitchcock. And it did not disappoint. We find Sabrina writing her second mystery novel while her Rowe is marking items off her bucket list with the help of a lively bunch of ladies staying at the cottages. A new library is being constructed, and the librarian is definitely a go-getter as Sabrina soon finds out. Jane Alcott has a love of books and of giving gifts, but that doesn't stop someone from murdering her. Sabrina takes the investigation on, although told by the sheriff that her help is not needed. More than a few suspicious people pop up in town and the chase is on.

A great, action packed read that kept me glued to the page.

I was given this book by the publisher for my honest review.

With construction on the town’s new library nearing completion, mystery writer Sabrina Tate is thrilled that local book lovers, and her own forthcoming novel, will soon have a fresh new home. But tensions are rising at the site as the headstrong new librarian insists on telling the construction crew how to do their jobs, bringing work to a standstill. When Sabrina’s cat unearths the dead body of the librarian not long after—and a good friend’s husband is named as the main suspect—she finds herself being pulled into a murder investigation yet again.

While virtually all the workers at the site had a motive to commit the dark deed, Sabrina turns her attention to the victim’s background looking for clues, but hits a dead end when she can’t locate any of the woman’s family. As a string of planted evidence and a murky collection of malicious characters starts to surface, Sabrina knows she and Hitchcock will have to tread carefully, before the library killer decides to check them out for good . . .

I love reading library mysteries and this did not disappoint! This was intriguing and suspenseful the whole way through.

Sabrina Tate and her cat Hitchcock have found another body. Sabrina is head of library. A great cozy Mystery, what can be better than a library and cat. A great lazy day read

My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars, I quite liked it.

Book 4 in the series. It's nice to see Sabrina and Hitchcock picked up by a new publisher.

This book started off a bit slow for me, but once the pace picked up, I didn't want to put it down. The story was well written and I love the cast of characters. Hitchcock is, of course, my favorite character and helpfully sneaks out of the house to dig up clues for Sabrina.

Looking forward to more Hitchcock and Sabrina.

Princess Fuzzypants here: Hitchcock is one cool cat. He has an undeserved rep for being bad luck. In fact, he is an extraordinary detective, not just because he is a black cat. He finds bodies, uncovers clues and saves the day on top of being handsome and charming. He is an ideal every-cat hero.
His human, Sabrina is a mystery writer with zero self discipline. She is writing a novel but is easily distracted by every little thing, like a murder where her best friend’s husband is the prime suspect. Part of her problem is she is a creative thinker with an active imagination. So instead of knuckling down to write her book, she is off trying to exonerate her friend. She. Is actually pretty good at looking at things and figuring stuff out. But she does not see, nor did I, the killer. It caught me off guard. Several of the suspects did not commit that murder but they did commit other crimes so instead of red herrings, they were more pinkish.
Needless to say, it was a fun and fast read, ideal for cottage or beach. I hope there are lots of Hitchcock capers to come. Five purrs and two paws up.

Sabrina Tate should be concentrating on writing her new book and making plans to market her first book which is being published soon. Instead she finds herself investigating the murder of a new acquaintance and running in circles keeping her aunt and her bucket list group from doing anything too dangerous. Plus she constantly must protect her cat, Hitchock, from being labeled the bad luck cat. Luckily the sheriff is sweet on her aunt and doesn't get too upset with her dropping by with clues for him.
