Wow, just wow! Dangerous Lies, is the perfect book for my suspense/romance loving self. There were quite a few things that I did not see coming. Goes without saying, I loved this book.

Dangerous Lies (Shades of Leverage) by Claudia Shelton is the second book in the series. I've read the first book, Slater's Revenge, and each is a stand alone without needing the previous books. This is Mitch Granger and Elizabeth "Liz" Walkert's story.

Elizabeth Walkert is a investigative journalist so when her father disappears and a family friend asks her to meet one of his agents at the Mariner's bar. To say her journalistic radar goes off would be correct. She meets Mitch Granger and you guessed it life as she knows it goes out the window. They are constantly on run from CT (Coercion Ten) with a lot of secrets and a mole within their own ranks with a climatic ending. Can Liz find the family she's always craved to have and will Mitch finally realize that she could be his HEA?

Mitch Granger had to grow up fast after his father is killed during a overnight shift. So he becomes the sole bread winner supporting his siblings and mom any way he can. (Even puts them through college) until his brother reminds him that he needs to have his own life. Little does he realize that protecting Liz would mean constantly running and when he finds out who the mole is plus her Dad's secrets may be very hazardous to his and his teams health.

I do agree that the bad guys story did take quite awhile to play out but the ending is worth it.

Liz is a journalist whose life is upended when she is taken into protective custody when her life is threatened. She finds out that she was born while her parents were in a witness protection program, only to later find out that the man who she thought was her father might not actually be her father.

Mitch is a former Navy Seal now working for a private security firm. He has his vacation called off in order to protect a young woman whose family are close friends of his boss. As he fights off the bad guys threatening Liz, he begins to fall in love with her.

This book contains a little of everything - suspense, romance, and yes sex! It was a very fun read. I’m hoping that we will get Stealth and Cat’s story next!

Action, adventure, and relaxing on the beach, this book has it all !
This was a good book that keeps you guessing right until the very end. I really couldn't put it down which is a rarity for me. I think that the characters were strong and believable with a bit of fun thrown in. I can't say to much without spoiling the book for others but I would recommend that you put it on your reading list :)
The only thing I didn't like about the book was that I thought that the story developed to quickly and I would have loved to see a longer story getting to know the characters better.
I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars for keeping me engaged, a unique story plot, and some great characters.

Dangerous Lies is book #2 in the Shades of Leverage series and is a stand alone. I can attest to that as I have not read book #1, yet. But I plan to rectify that soon! I love romantic suspense and I really enjoyed this book.

A fairly good story of Liz, a journalist, who is being targeted by a rogue group. She is assigned to Mitch, whose job is to keep her alive, while being on the run. I liked the story overall, and enjoyed the characters too. The main issue I had was the ending, as I felt confused on the issue of why they were after her in the first place, and was confused on the evil group too. This is the first book I've read in this series, so that may be the main problem too, as previously these topics may have been explained more. Otherwise, I would give it 3.5 and would recommend this book. A good summer read.

ARC received for review

Hi! It's me the person who hasn't read the first book, but this is a stand alone and I wasn't lost for not having read the first one.

Mitch and Liz have great chemistry, even if he is really bossy. Loved all the members of the team. My reason for three stars is that the bad guy situation just took forever...

I found it hard to get into this story, Liz the heroine I found very difficult to warm too, there was just a total disconnect between me and her character. I did enjoy the story once it got going and the hero was definitely alpha!!

Liz knows that when trouble comes calling, she is to contact her fathers oldest friend. The man, Drake, runs his own very elite security form and she always loved visiting him when she was younger.

When her dad does go missing, she tracks down Drake and he sends Mitch to be her guardian. He is one of Drake's best but you can allow him being a tad miffed, he was supposed to be going on holiday after all! But once he meets Liz, he is at turns intrigued and irritated by her wilful, stubborn nature. She is used to digging in to get the truth and won't be fobbed off with half answers. And she will not follow orders blindly...that just about sends him over the edge LOL.

Mitch, being former military, never met an order he didn't follow and to say he is annoyed at having to reason his every order with Liz...well he doesn't know whether to shout at her or smother her n kisses, although the 2nd one is getting more likely! But CT is not backing off, and as they gain ground on the SOL team, another layer of intrigue is uncovered.

Superb story. I really enjoyed the characters and the snappy dialogue. I haven't read the first book in the series (which will be quickly remedied) but that in no way hindered my enjoyment. Totally had a hoot at the name of Mitch's shell corporation!

Liz is a journalist and her father goes missing. Her fathers friend is the leader of a group of special soldiers. Mitch is ex military and now part of a group that protects people. He must keep her alive and find out who’s after her. Is it the group the they have been after or is it someone from the past?
A guy who takes responsibility seriously and a woman who questions everything. Pretty good story with action and suspense. My first time reading this author. No cliffhangers and can be read alone.

LOVED this book! OMG, this was soooooo good! This is fast paced romantic suspense at its best! The author wove a complex tale that came to life on the pages. The characters felt real and I found myself invested in their story. I couldn't put this book down. I'm not even going to try to summarize the novel, as I won't do it justice, just be sure that this one is a must read.

I don't know how I haven't heard of this author before now, but what a wonderful surprise - now I can enjoy her back list. I'm adding her to my must read authors' list and going to work my way through her prior books.
