This is the 6rh book in the series, I absolutely loved the cover of this book and couldn't wait to read it having read all the others and it was an enjoyable read I would of liked it to of been more Christmassy.

A charming book where the narrator and title character, a cat named Alfie, gets into scrapes, helps his kitten, George, deal with life, and learns lots about the value of friendship. I liked that the book was such an easy and gentle read. Wa I didn't like is that too often I felt as if I was reading a preachy children's book about acceptance and toleration.

My thanks to NetGalley and publisher Avon Books UK for the ARC.
This is the #6 in the Alfie series and I have to admitto not having read any others.
This is a nice, heart-warming story of dad Alfie and son George with the introduction of Pickles, a pug puppy. George wants to find his purpose in life and, when an elderly neighbour is taken into hospital for some time he takes it upon himself to visit his friend and to cheer-up the other elderly and lonely people there. The theme of love and loneliness runs through the story and culminates in a community Christmas.
I found this all to be quite "sweet" and was amused by some of the antics and conversations between the animals. I was looking forward to a "Christmassy" themed story but thought it fell a little short of the mark on that.
Not the best cat-themed story I've read I'm afraid - but then that's just my opinion.

I have read and enjoyed all of the ‘Alfie’ novels and was really pleased to be given the opportunity to read and review this one as well. I loved returning to Edgar Road and meeting all of Alfie and his son George’s families and friends. It is such a gentle and easy going novel, beautifully written and with a host of new and lovable characters as well. It is full of kindness, caring and humour whilst talking about real issues like loneliness, shyness, jealousy and using initiative. It filled my heart with joy and the turned pages soon saw time fly by.
In this new novel we meet a boisterous, mischievous but lovable puppy who wants to be a cat. This little Pug is a ball of energy. He is absolutely hilarious, totally incorrigible and also a real mad cap nuisance. We reacquaint ourselves with a character that once left her friends when her family moved to a new area, but has now re-joined the cast in a new home. It’s a lovely read, amusing, full of lessons to be learned and life affirming.
It is the lead up to Christmas and kitten George is growing up and finding his own friends. When a human friend of his is taken into hospital, he at last finds himself a job that is inspired by kindness, empathy and goodwill. Soon it is time for the cat (and puppy) community to come together and make a plan to help George achieve his dreams. Now then, we all know that there is no greater cat to make plans than his father Alfie, and you’ll have to find out all about what happens by reading this delightful story to see if it’s a real masterplan or a howling disaster.
I received this enjoyable novel through my membership of NetGalley and from publisher Avon, all in return for an honest review. All the opinions are my own with no influence from other parties. It is going to go on my list as highly readable and I can see the story as being enjoyed by both an adult and child audience, even as read by an adult to a younger child as a serialised bedtime story.

Cat Alfie is back in his 6th adventure. With George on his side (still weaning about the loss of Tiger mum) they're having a new challenge in educate puppy Pickles, the new neighbor dog. Puppy sitting is not easy and trouble is on it’s way. Beside that they're lots of other problems to solve. But the smart cats do handle them all, with help from their friends

The story is lovely and funny and the cats and puppy are getting straight in to your heart. The cats do have a lot of human traits, what makes them recognizable and sweet. Theý're loyal, they fall in love, they're jealous and forgiving, but above all they're very smart cats. Alfie an George are a great team and it is nice to read about their life lessons, and the way they’re dealing with their friends, human and cats.

It's great to read about Alfie. his friends and the're adventures. It's really a very sweet story. I hope to see Alfie and his friends again.
