I am enjoying this series so much. In the latest book Pippin, a famous dog and his owner along with the actors from his TV show are visiting Wagtail and staying at the Sugar Maple Inn. Many events are planned for people to get to see Pippin, but there are also some other things happening in town. Not all of them are good. Holly is busy trying to help out with events at the inn and in town. Trixie has also been featured on the cover of a national dog magazine and has fans of her own. I enjoyed the story and the mystery came to an unexpected conclusion. These books always make me wish that I could visit Wagtail and stay at the Sugar Maple Inn.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Another delightful paws and claws mystery from Krista Davis, who writes the best kind of cozy mystery, with great characters and settings, and well plotted mysteries.

Krista Davis gives us a cute cozy in The Dog Who Knew Too Much. Pippin, a canine celebrity, has come to Wagtail for a vacation. Holly's Jack Russell Trixie and Pippin found a body during a treasure hunting party for the community dogs. Murder, celebrity animosity and dognapping. Holly has her task set as she seeks to find the missing dogs and solve the murder.

It's gone to the dogs - the town of Wagtail, that is! Wagtail is a town that caters to dogs - golf carts instead of cars, and furry friends are welcome everywhere.

There's lots of excitement - a popular doggie star, along with his entourage, are coming to town to promote his new show. The chef at the inn is even serving doggie versions of people meals

On a more serious note, two dogs are missing, and a strange man is attempting to steal a third pupper. Even worse, a local resident has been found dead. Packages are missing and more murders are attempted.

This is a lovely mystery. I would highly recommend this title to any dog lover looking for a cosy mystery.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received a free digital copy of this title to review from Net Galley.

The Dog Who Knew Too Much: A Paws & Claws Mystery

Review by Cynthia Chow

Ever since the town of Wagtail, Virginia rebranded itself as the destination spot for pet-loving travelers their businesses, shops, and restaurants became designed to be as pet-friendly as possible. It also makes Holly Miller’s Sugar Maple Inn the perfect retreat for an upcoming television show’s cast, especially since its star is “America’s Favorite Dog” border collie-Labrador mix Pippin. As Pippinmania sweeps through the town and attracts even more fervent fans, his human co-star is decidedly less popular. While the crew is staying in Wagtail as a bonding exercise for the cast and Pippin, veteran actor Howard Hirschtritt ensures that they’re not going to be a happy family. The celebratory event of Pippin’s Treasure Hunt has the intent of promoting Pippin’s fandom and Wagtail business, but experienced mystery readers will know that the final discovery will not be the one that was first set in place. What is surprising is that the body found by Pippin and Trixie at the bottom of a gulley is not Howard’s but that of Diane Blusher, a much-liked breeder of champion boxers.

With the TV crew confined in Wagtail until police determine the cause of Diane’s death, Holly and her grandmother are determined to both clear their Inn of any liability and discover the reason behind their friend’s death. A string of purebred dog thefts have Holly leading the cause to have their beloved companions nose-printed for protective identification, but it’s the threat to her own beloved Jack Russell terrier Trixie that has her most alarmed. After Trixie was featured in Dog Life Magazine due to her talent for discovering corpses, a man has arrived in town claiming that the dog Holly found abandoned in a gas station is his. As the danger facing their furry babies increases and the human body count rises, Holly and her friends are determined to stop the menace that arrived with Hollywood’s pet-centric film crew.

This sixth in the series deftly balances the focus between the Wagtail residents and the television crew unable to leave town. Holly eagerly anticipates the return of the man who makes her heart flutter, but the flamboyant Sugar McLaughlin has predatory plans of her own for Holmes Richardson. #MeToo issues may have woven its way into the seemingly family-friendly television production, and Pippin may be the only one of their crew without hidden motives or agendas. Dog lovers will be infuriated by the danger implied by the presence of Trixie’s so-called owner as well as the incidents of dog theft, so there is much relief when it’s outweighed by the obvious love and clever actions by Holly, her grandmother (also the mayor of Wagtail), and the often exasperated Officer Dave Quinlan. Recipes of treats for both humans and canines are included at the end, with Peanut Butter Pupcakes sounding absolutely mouth-watering for both species. Unexpected plot twists make the final reveal of the culprit a surprise, but readers can be assured that they will be left smiling and warmed by the appreciation given to the Wagtail furry families.

This is the sixth book in the Paws and Claws mystery series. I read this author before but not the whole series. I feel that this series is easy to jump in to and a fun read regardless of if you've read the others. I love the town of Wagtail and all of the people and animals. Great characters and fun story!

Series: A Paws & Claws Mystery - Book 6
Author: Krista Davis
Genre: Cozy Mystery/Pet/B&B/Inn
Publisher: Berkley
Page Count: 304

From Berkley Publishing comes the charming newest addition to the “A Paws & Claws Mystery” pet series by Krista Davis, The Dog Who Knew Too Much.

This series is delightful from start to finish. The characters filled with a zest for life that makes reading these books amusing and exciting. The suspects, victim, and killer are highly entertaining, with everything needed to keep readers coming back for more. The location is lovely and fills pet lovers with joy. Pet series cozies aren’t unusual, but Krista Davis does this one exceptionally well. She knows who the characters are and keeps them true to their roots.

When Trixie finds yet another body, Holly can’t keep her nose out of the investigation. When someone takes a shot at her, however, she knows she is getting close to unraveling this mystery. Dogs and cats feature prominently throughout these books. Holly’s hotel and the entire pet-based town are always filled with animals roaming all over the place, and when a famous dog comes to town, the tourist numbers double. The cute little dog goes missing before long, and Holly comes to the rescue. More than one crime is solved in this pet series, and as always, Holly and Trixie are the heroes.

The Dog Who Knew Too Much is a fast-paced page-turner with a bunch of suspects, clues, and red herrings that keep readers guessing. Readers will relish every page and won’t be able to put this book down until the last word is read. I am happy to recommend this pet series to animal lovers and mystery lovers of all kinds.

THE DOG WHO KNEW TOO MUCH, the sixth book in the Paws and Claws Mysteries by Krista Davis, is another charming addition to an endearing series. From the inviting adorable cover (who can resist Trixie and Twinkletoes!) to the heart-warming quote at the beginning: “A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than you love yourself,” this newest release draws the reader in from the very start. The protagonist, Holly Miller, is co-owner of the Sugar Maple Inn with her Oma. I love the relationship these two women have along with the various pets that come to share their abode. They are caring and leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling despite the conflicts that might come their way…like murder. Ms. Davis has created and developed the characters over the course of the series, so that they’ve grown and become like good friends. I appreciate that the pets are also allotted the author’s expertise with character development so that each animal has a unique personality. This makes Wagtail seem all the more realistic.

The charming pet-centric town of Wagtail is playing host to the doggie star and cast visiting for some rest and relaxation. But when Holly’s body-finding dog, Trixie, finds a victim during one of the star’s events and when local pure-bred dogs start disappearing, Holly knows she must get involved and help solve the mystery. Ms. Davis weaves the subplots into the central murder mystery and oft times I wasn’t sure how she would manage to tie the pieces together. But she did and left me feeling thoroughly entertained and impressed! There were plenty of clues and suspects, but honestly I was enjoying the flow of the story so much I just wanted to sit back and go along for the ride while I watched it unfold. All in all, if you enjoy a pet-themed mystery, with well-developed characters, and a great plot, this is one series you shouldn’t miss!

. Holly and her grandmother own the Sugar Maple Inn in the town of Wagtail, VA, which as the name implies, is pretty devoted to pets. When a famous dog and his entourage come to town, everyone is excited until a beloved resident is murdered and some dogs go missing. Speculation runs high. Who is the villain--visitor or village inhabitant? This book is the newest installment of the Paws and Claws series; I haven't read any of the others, but I had no problem enjoying this cozy mystery which should appeal to animal lovers. Thanks to the publisher and to Netgalley for this ARC.

Waytail is a dog town. Everything is is doggie named and doggie themed. So when a famous pooch named Pippin come to town, they have events to celebrate and hope it will bring them even more business in the future. When they arrive amidst fanfare and excitement, the first thing that happens is that they have a fight in the lobby. The man who plays a cranky old man in the series was cranky. He's not going to stay at the hotel. He'll find himself a quiet place. He leaves and they get the rest of the crew settled.

Berkley and Net Galley let me read this book for review (thank you). It will be published December 26th.

It turns out Pippin likes to escape and go snooping by himself. This bothers Holly because she doesn't want Pippin to get lost and because her dog, Trixie, goes with him. To let him get some exercise and have plenty of new smells, they go for a walk up the mountain. When Trixie runs off the path and then does her haunting howl, Holly hates to hear it. It means she's found a dead body. It was a lady in town who bred boxers. She's a nice lady, who would kill her?

Then a man tells her Trixie is his dog. She rescued her and she's had her for years now. She won't give her up. There's a dog snatcher in town. Is he it?

Then the cranky old man is found dead. Who's killing them and why?

I was surprised by who the killer turned out to be...

A fun and riveting new tale set in my favorite fictional town of Wagtail, Virginia! At the pet friendly Sugar Maple Inn co-owned by protagonist Holly Miller and her grandma, Liesel ‘Oma’ Miller, excitement fills the air! Holly’s rescue dog, Trixie is the cover model for a National Magazine, and America’s Favorite Dog, Pippin has arrived for a vacation at the Inn with his upcoming TV Show entourage.

The author fills the swiftly moving plot with missing dogs; suspicious people; past meets present; and multiple crime scenes. There are emotional moments featuring the dogs that are cute as can be, as well as times of panic. When Holly digs deep into the layered past of one of the victims, motives start unrolling like a red carpet, and surprising reveals break the investigation wide open.

It’s always a joy to visit the charming folks of Wagtail and visit with all the adorable pets. Trixie and her new tail-wagging friends make a fantastic paw patrol team! Pippin simply must come back and visit again! I highly recommend this cozy story and all the previous stories in the Paws and Claws series.

I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and Berkley Publishing. Thank you. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

The Dog Who Knew Too Much is the 6th book in the popular Paws and Claws Mystery series. I always love a visit to Wagtail, a completely pet-friendly town. I love the characters, the setting and the plots in this series. Always a relaxing, entertaining, cozy read!

This time, all of Wagtail is excited because a famous pooch is coming to town. Pippin is called America's Favorite Dog. Turns out, the television celebrity dog is a bit naughty....always running off and not minding. Holly Miller from the Sugar Maple Inn and her dog Trixie join in the festivities. During an outdoor treasure hunt, the two dogs find a dead body..... Not only does Holly have a murder to investigate, but someone shows up claiming ownership of Trixie. Plus, there is a dognapper in town! Yikes! Lots going on in Wagtail!

I enjoyed this book! The mystery moves along at a fast pace with lots of Wagtail quirkiness to make it fun. There are a couple subplots in this newest book, but they add to the mystery rather than over-powering the main plot. Trixie's past comes back to nip Holly.....that bit of the plot had me wanting to jump into the book and slap a certain scruffy character. As the owner of two rescued dogs who were abandoned by prior owners, I have deep-set emotions on the issue. If anybody showed up saying my dogs belonged to them......oh I'd be kicking some butt. Immediate. Butt. Kicking. I got so worked up I was talking to the character as I read portions of the book.....I won't repeat what I said. This is a cozy review. No cussing. No graphic threats of violence.

The front cover is colorful, cute and engaging as usual!

I'm giving this book full stars. Any book that has me grumbling and wanting to punch a side character, plus gets me so engaged in the plot that I binge read the story in one sitting deserves full marks!

Enjoyable read as usual! Cute animals. Light humor. Fun mystery. Fun setting. And cozy all the way. No spurting blood. No sex. No cussing. Just a nice, fun, entertaining read! Krista Davis always delivers! I am eagerly awaiting the next book!

I loved revisiting Wagtail. Holly's adventures with Trixie and the other residents of Wagtail was great fun. I also enjoyed how Krista Davis keeps the romance to a minimum, letting the mystery and the character be center stage.

I received an ARC from Netgalley. This is one of my favorite series. I love the thought of a whole pet friendly town. This book brings to town a famous dog actor and his entourage. There's some dog napping and of course some murder. I was actually surprised at the end. Always an enjoyable read.

I adore this series and this book is a fabulous addition to the bunch. We get to spend time with all of the main players in Wagtail and are introduced to some new characters. Holly and Holmes' romance heats up and of course, there are lots of tasty food descriptions. The mystery was well plotted and kept me guessing until the end. Another wonderful addition to the Paws and Claws mystery series!

Holly and her faithful pets are at it again, this time when some TV royalty roll into town for a social media documented vacation. Fast paced, humorous, and filled with a cast full of fun characters. Trixie has her own brush with fame, which may have their own consequences as her past comes back to haunt Holly, while the canine darling of TV is keeping everyone on their toes in Wagtail.
