I loved watching this show with my oldest kids and was so happy to see a children's book out now featuring their wonderful song. The song is so sweet and loving and the book does it justice, with colorful drawings that are fun and inclusive. We have loving and happy people of all types, animals, families, you name it, with the simple lyrics to skinnamarink.

Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you.
I love you in the morning
And in the afternoon,
I love you in the evening
And underneath the moon...

This is a lovely book that would make a perfect bedtime book.

My rating system:
1 = hated it
2 = it was okay
3 = liked it
4 = really liked it
5 = love it, plan to purchase, and/or would buy it again if it was lost

I read a digital ARC of the book for the purpose of review.

Just love this one. I sang Skinnamarink with my family and with Lamb Chop, Sharon, Lois, and Bram. My daughter now sings the song and I look forward to sharing this book with her, along with my little students so they hear and know this song of everyday love too.

A children’s classic. This song is everything about my childhood. Fun. Catchy. Exciting. Skin a marinky dinky dink... it’s pretty hard not to sing along and feel joyful when you do!

I love all of the extra verses and I love the images. I would absolutely buy this for my kids and as gifts to others. I would share this beautiful piece of my childhood with everyone.

This classic kid's song is being reintroduced to a brand-new generation for kids to enjoy. Sharon, Lois, and Bram, a trio from Toronto, began singing "Skinnamarink" in 1978. It gained immense popularity through their Canadian TV show, The Elephant Show. Sharon's talented daughter, Randi, added three new verses to the original song. Today upon its release, it definitely would have gone viral and everyone world-wide would be singing the fun ditty.

What in the world does Skinnamarink mean? It's not in the dictionary but after singing the song you will find the meaning is tucked deep in your heart. To kids it means: friendship, happiness, sharing, community, inclusiveness, and of course the ultimate theme.... love! This song has been sung at every venue imaginable: in classrooms, at weddings, along parade routes, and at thousands of concerts, (just to cite and few). When the actions are added with the words the song resounds a powerful message of adoration and happiness. It is an energetic positive way to make hearts, and faces, very happy indeed.

Both the young ( by discovering a new song ) and the old ( reliving wonderful memories of the original ) will enjoy the experience of reading or singing such a heartfelt book. I highly, highly recommend it. Come on now.... get your Skinnamarink on.

Fantastic! One of my favorite childhood songs now available as a book that my own daughter and I can read/sing-a-long to! I love the info at the beginning about the song along with all of the cute illustrations throughout. This is a must own in any child’s book collection.

What’s not to love about a book featuring a song from so many people’s childhood! I absolutely loved reading this book to my 4 year old and the children in my daycare. Everyone was singing along and doing the actions by the end. I loved the additional lines to the song and the illustrations are very sweet. If this song was as big of a part of your childhood as mine definitely pick up a copy to share with your little ones!

This book brings back so many memories! Being a child of the '80s, Sharon, Lois & Bram provided part of the soundtrack to my early years. "Skinnamarink" is probably their most famous song, and it's a fun one, complete with actions that accompany the words. This book takes that simple song, adds some new verses, and illustrates the whole thing to near perfection.

I must say, I was a bit nervous when I read that there were some new verses here. But they fit in perfectly with the original song. (And the book would've been really short without them!) The rhyme and rhythm is just about perfect, and if you're familiar with the original song, you can see the ease with which the new words work.

Qin Leng's illustrations are sort of messy-looking, but also childlike and very fun. So many people (and creatures!) get into the song, so by the end of the book, everyone's running around with a smile on their face and love in their heart. It might sound corny, but it's true. This book made me smile... and I hope this song will make a whole new generation of kids smile, too.

Who else watched the Elephant Show? Reading this I was overcome with strong and warm feelings of nostalgia. The fun illustrations go perfectly with the familiar song. Highly recommended. We can all use more love right now.

This famous song is captured perfectly through the additional verses and all inclusive illustrations. Readers from another generation will join the millions who know this song and appreciate the love it celebrates. Note that the song will stay with you after you finish the book.
Don't miss the details included in the illustrations.
Looking forward to sharing this with our grandchildren.

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I wasn't expecting the story to be a retelling of the popular children's song. I thought the illustrations were understated and the author could have done more to bring this song to life.

Funny! A co-worker and I were just speaking about this song last week! I've even heard it sung during grievance meetings. All involved had to sing it before starting grievances. Pretty good idea really. It actually is very effective. I'm happy to find it in book form, with added verses, no less; so excited! I look forward to teaching it to more kids
I enjoyed the illustrations, too. so fun!

This picture book is a beautifully illustrated version of the well-known song. It features two additional verses and repeats the chorus after each with characters demonstrating the hand movements at the bottom of the page. I have no doubt this will be a popular picture book and hope it moves to a board book too.
