I left a 4 star rating when I read this book 3 years ago but didn't write a formal review. I am marking the rating here to move this book off my shelf.

Man, I just love this series.

Books one and two of this series of some of my favorite books of all time - especially book one...oh, the angst...so good - and while this one isn't up there with those two in my head, I definitely enjoyed it a lot.

Alex was a really great H and Sarai was a well-balanced heroine. We also got to spend some time up in Oregon with the Evans family. We got to see/read about beloved characters from previous books and I just ate it up.

Not gonna lie, the connection between Alex and Sarai wasn't as...palpable as that of Shane/Kate or Bram/Ani, but I still really enjoyed them as a couple. I loved reading through the obstacles and emotions they had to work through toward the end of the story.

All in all a great read that I can see myself re-reading in the future.

I am borderline OBSESSED with this series! I love this complex family and the relationships within it. I will say that Kate and Shane will forever be my favorites but the other characters have kept me interested in this series. The covers are amazing and the raw emotion put into the books make me teary eyed.

I have read every story in this series and I wanted to complete the series. It was about what I expected. I feel like Jacquelyn intends to give an emotionally deep story but it ends up being only superficially deep. The big black moment that almost breaks them felt contrived and emotionally manipulative.

The sub-plot of the best friend being a victim of domestic abuse was weird and also superficial. I know this is fiction but neither character who wanted to help Hailey ever mentioned contacting an organization that helps victims of domestic abuse. Again this is fiction, but many people find themselves in this position and even a weirdly placed item or note in a book may be helpful.

Sarai's depiction as Jewish felt very one note. She doesn't go to Temple, but she keeps kosher. There was no mention other than that how faith may or may not play a role in her life.

The best part of this book is that there was very minimal mention of Shane, the zero, from book one.

I love this series. I wish it would never end.
I love this family and the uniqueness of each story.
A lot of times series tend to have the same story line. These are all completely different and hit you in a different way every time.
This story was very emotional and real. I found myself wanting to devour the book, but step away at times.

I love this series by Nicole Jacquelyn. These stories are standalones with characters from the other books. They grip your heart and break it and slowly put it back together. You will fall in love with these characters and their families.

Alex is the clown of the family and a dedicated solider. He never thought he would meet a woman that made his world stop. Sarai lives by the rules and is working hard to make the life she wants.

I loved Alex and Sarai story it was full of romance and all the feels. This book isn’t as angsty as the others in the series but it will still make you feel. I loved this book and seeing some of the other characters as well.

Piece Of My Heart was an emotional romance that made you not only fall in love with these characters, but their family as well. From the unbreakable bonds, easy going comradery, to knowing that every single one of these members ,will have your back till the end of time.

Sarai Levy has always known what she’s wanted. Having plans makes her life much easier and she’s able to focus better and stay on track. Putting her all into her final months of getting her degree, Sarai has no time for anything but studying and going to work. That all changes when a few weeks prior to agreeing to be accompanied on a blind date, she slowly starts to fall for the charming Alex Evans and it’s the beginning of something beautiful.

Amazing brother, good friend, loving son, strong worker, these are some of the best traits of Alex Evans and it’s only going to get better for this man. Forced to help out a friend and go on a blind date, Alex meets the woman who’s about to change his life completely. Too bad she doesn’t have the time for him right now but if it’s one thing that is known about Alex, is that he’s persistent

I’ve been a huge fan of this series and I couldn’t wait to see how everything was going to wrap with this loving crazy family and I’m so glad that that it was Alex’s story that gave us the beautiful ending. I loved the connection between these characters and everything felt so natural and easy that it was a breeze to get into. My only issue that I had was that towards the end felt too rush for my liking and I wanted to see more of a healing process between the characters.

Aside from that, I really enjoyed this one and it was the perfect ending for a lovable family and amazing characters. If you haven’t read any of these books yet, then you really need to.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get into this book and I think it’s for the simple fact that I’ve outgrown this author’s writing style. I wanted more depth, more storytelling...just more. I’m sure many will love it, but it just wasn’t for me.

I was sooo excited to see that the 4th book was releasing after OBSESSING over the first 3. I don't know if I'm just going through one of those weird reading moods or being obsessed with a Netflix series (Stranger Things). But this just wasn't AS amazing as the first 3. Now, hold on before everyone comes to attack me... That isn't to say I still didn't love this book to pieces! I honestly had some really high expectations for this book, and because of that, it just didn't live up to it. I almost got that insta-love vibe from Alex and Sarai and that's a hit and miss for me. I don't seek out insta-love books and I have to be in the right mood for it.

<blockquote><i><b>"I wasn't that guy. I didn't see apretty face and clam up. I didn't stumble over my words or make an a** of myself. I was cool. Collected. Charming as f***. Women loved me."</b></i></blockquote>

I was so stinking excited to read Abraham(Bram)'s twin brother's story! Throw in the tears that come along with this series, as we all probably well know at this point. If not, now you know you will PROBABLY need a box (or 2) of tissues while reading these books. Definitely not light and fluffy!

The Fostering Love series by Nicole Jacquelyn has been one of my top favorite series. I have read Unbreak My Heart, the first book in the series, countless times. In Piece of My Heart we get Alex Evans’ story. Since we first met Alex in Unbreak My Heart, he has been an easy-going and very likable guy. From the beginning he has been loyal, caring and protective of those he loves. You can’t help but fall in love with him and I have been excited to read this story.

Sarai has plans and a direction. She is set on getting her degree and intends on staying on this course. Then she meets Alex and he penetrates her walls. They fall and fall hard. Though their love is strong, nothing ever comes easy. I ached for them. Though not as angst-filled as some of the previous books, they have obstacles they need to face. Their journey will captivate you from start to finish.

One of my favorite aspect of this series has been the family connections and how strong the bonds are, regardless of their pasts and about finding love. Piece of My Heart by Nicole Jacquelyn continues in this course. I loved seeing old friends and new ones. It was emotional, touching and everything I have come to expect from this series!

Happy reading!

I have absolutely adored this series. This book, in my opinion, was the best one yet. The characters and story-line was so engaging. I read this cover to cover in a matter of hours. I cannot wait for more by this author.

I have read the previous book and I admit that I didn't really like that one and unfortunately I just didn't like this one either.

For some reason I found the story lacking.

I know some people like this series but I think it is just not for me.

The book cover and description is what drew me into Piece of My Heart by Nicole Jacquelyn. This is truly an emotional read, so you may want to keep a box of tissues at the ready. Although this is the fourth book from the author's Fostering Love series, it can be enjoyed as a standalone.

Working full-time in an accounting office by day, and pursuing a graduate degree by night, prevents Sarai Levy from having any sort of social life. Her free time is totally devoted to her studies, in order to be the best in her class. Saria is the consummate planner, and has every moment of her life detailed until she graduates at the end of the spring term. She meets foot soldier Alex Evans on a blind double date, and they share an interesting spark. Alex is kind, smart and good-looking, and Saria decides to let him into her neatly planned world. Very quickly they fall in love and begin to share their complicated lives. After a horrific incident, they both are struggling to save themselves as well as their relationship.

The author tells a poignant story, with secondary characters that add both tenderness and support during the good times and the bad. Saria and Alex are an amazing couple, and their road to happiness is a bit bumpy and quite emotional. If you are looking for a well-written romance with some surprising moments, an engaging plot, and a happily ever after that will leave a smile on your face, then read this book.

Piece of My Heart is book four in the Fostering Love series and follows Alex, the more carefree brother. He's always been a fun presence in this series and he was more lighthearted than his siblings, at least to me. So I was actually surprised that his book turned out to be a little heavy at times and it was more emotional than I was expecing. But I loved the emotions that it brought out and that we got to see another side to Alex.

His and Sarai's relationship was still really fun, especailly in the beginning, but the true romance for me came later in the book when their relationship turned from something light and easy, to something a little more angsty. I loved them from beginning to end but I think they became more solid in their relatiobship when they had to learn how to lean on each other.

There wasn't an overload of drama, and the angst level wasn't super high, even though the angst that was in the book was a bigger part of the story. But around that there was still a ton of loving and emotional moments that really took the focus of the book. The relationship moved pretty fast, and that worked well witht his couple, but I have to say I wish the ending didn't move as fast as it did. I can't really say it was rushed but it it was more fast paced than I was hoping it would be.

Overall, a great read and one I will certainly recommend reading. It can definitely be read as a standalone but I do think that seeing Alex's siblings nose their way into his relationship will make you want to read the previous books as well.

What a poignant, eloquent and beautiful story! Nicole always writes stories that have my heart constricted with all the emotions!

This story killed me in the best of ways. It starts so wonderful, with having Sarai and Alex meeting each other and going on dates, etc. It was so cute to finally see Alex falling for a woman, especially for a woman like Sarai. He completely met his match with her and I was so happy! Both are goofballs! I was having so much fun with them.

Since the second novel, I've been so intrigued by Alex, so when it was announced this was his story, I went crazy! I couldn't wait to get my hands on this pretty! Alex is always the clown and the goofball, but in a good way. He just likes to joke and make people smile and laugh. What I adored the most was seeing Alex and Ani, his foster sister, back together again, acting like complete children. It had me laughing and adoring them once again.

Sarai was a new addition to this story so I didn't really know anything about her. We learn that she's Jewish but she doesn't follow a lot of practices from Judaism. To me, she was like a modern Jewish. Anyway, Sarai is a woman who's there for her friends no matter what. She's also very focused on her studies, has a plan for everything, and doesn't have time for dating, especially for a man like Alex. When she realizes she can't resist him, they start working around their very busy schedule to spend time with each other, even if it's just for a few minutes.

Their lives are going so great, but knowing this author, I knew it was the calm before the storm and when the storm arrived, I couldn't breathe. My heart broke in pieces and I had tears in my eyes for these two amazing characters. They definitely didn't deserve what happened. Yet you could see character growth amidst it all. Especially for Alex. Even though he was beyond affected about what had happened, he knew he needed to be there for Sarai, that he needed to be the strong one so he pushed aside his feelings and focused on giving all to Sarai. I was already in love with him, but it was here that I fell much harder for this incredible man.

I have always LOVED Alex's family, since Unbreak My Heart . They are a bunch who's there for each other through thick and thin. All of them are adopted but you wouldn't think that once you spend just a few seconds with them. Some are loud, others a grumpy and cynical, yet the love they have to give knows absolutely no bounds. They love and give without a second thought. I especially loved seeing Ani and Bram back from Change of Heart.

I loved having Ani back! She's Alex's foster sister and she is always a hoot and I always enjoy her to the max. I was so happy to have gotten to see a little of Kate (another foster sister), but I wish her entire family had been in this book since their story has to be my favorite! Nevertheless, it was great to see the members of this fantastic family that I will truly carry forever in my heart and never forget.

This family shows once again how amazing they are when they band together to help Sarai and Alex. It just showed how giving they all are. If you want an amazing family to read about, I will forever recommend Fostering Love series!

Unfortunately, not every family is as amazing as this one, which is why it was so tough to read about Sarai's family. Her aunt and uncle are still very Jewish and they're so strict and set in their ways. When Sarai calls them to give them wonderful news, they react so badly. My heart tore apart for her because you could feel her heart shattering in the process. I was happy she at least had Alex's family to rely on. She also had Mr. and Mrs. K. They were so wonderful. They were family friends of Sarai's parents so when Sarai moved back to Missouri, they opened their arms to her for anything she needed.

Overall, Piece of My Heart is a beautiful and poignant novel, just like the rest of the novels in this series. It will have you laughing one minute, and crying the next with a broken heart, but it will mend it in the end. I can never recommend this series enough, nor this author. Nicole Jacquelyn is so underrated and she deserves so much more recognition for the amazing talent she has!

This story is dual first person narrative where characters are described directly. The conflict is a mixture of internal, battling themselves and external as characters battle other characters and society. The popular themes shown throughout include working class struggles, role of religion, war, will to survive, circle of life, family, isolation, overcoming, loss of innocence, and motherhood.

Alex Evans is a cool, collective, charismatic and spur of the moment kind of guy. He is never has a real plan, but is determined and often haunted by his past. Sarai Levy is graduate student who is working full time and always has a plan. She is Jewish even though doesn’t go to a temple; she is a planner in all ways that count but struggles with her family relationships. Alex is all but ready to relax after work on base but then remembers the double date he agreed to go on with a co-worker. This is all that it took to start the roller coaster of love and struggle for him and Sarai. Sarai was absolutely busy as she attempted to juggle all the aspects of her life but she didn’t know that modifying a pair of chopsticks would put her on Alex’s radar. Alex wasn’t about to let Sarai walk away from him without a chance. Now both of their lives were at a turning point as Sarai was finishing up her MBA and Alex was up for re-enlistment. Though when you add in a trip to visit Alex’s family, a trip to Las Vegas and a friend in need, no plans can help you guide through this journey.

The ideas were interesting and different in the context that they played out. The flow is logical and organized though a bit rushed. Each character had an individualized voice but complements the other, as the sentence structure and word choice help to enhance the overall story. Yes, I would recommend this story. This book would not be for those who dislike abuse, military, arrogant men, family argument, withholding information from family, or miscarriages. This book would be good for those who enjoy quick whirl wind romance, family sticking together, and friends worrying about friends.

This is such a great read! Fun, sweet and sexy, this book still packs an emotional punch, with a hero that you cannot help but adore. I loved it, and devoured it in one sitting, unable to put it down.

I love this series so much. Centred around a fantastic family of characters, this book can be read as a standalone, but will obviously be more meaningful if you’ve read the earlier books and can therefore enjoy the dynamics and the group.

This is Alex’s book. Alex is the brother of Kate and Bram (heroine and hero of books #1 and #2 respectively), and is the clown of the family. Always the fun-loving joker, he is cool, confident and cruisy, a dedicated soldier and he cares deeply for his family and friends. So much so that he tags along as a wingman on a double date with one of his fellow soldiers, never expecting that the woman he meets is going to turn his whole world upside down.

Sarai lives her life according to rules and lists. She works and studies, putting all of her efforts into graduating and making a good life for herself, she doesn’t deviate from her plans. And then along comes Alex. Sweet, sexy and charming, she tries to keep her distance so that she doesn’t lose her way, but it doesn’t take long for him to wear her down with his flirty persistence, and she soon finds herself completely swept up by the irresistible man.

Alex and Sarai together are absolutely sensational, and though fast-moving, their whirlwind of a romance feels natural, and I loved watching them fall so hard and so completely. They follow their hearts, and their relationship is sweet, fun, sexy and wonderfully functional.

“You’re the best decision I ever made.”

But even in their blissful, loved-up state, there is still drama that they need to face, and it is heartbreaking. I cried for them, and my heart ached, but watching them work through it is so wonderfully written, and shows just how far they’ve come and how deep their love for each other is, and I thought it was beautifully handled.

This book is not as angsty or dramatic as others in the series, but it still brings the feels, and I enjoyed the lightness of the story. The characters from previous book are all involved, and right up in Alex and Sarai’s business, which I loved, and the story ends in a great place, leaving me with a big grin on my face.

I loved this one. It’s fast-moving, but it’s a beautiful story of family, love, and following your heart.

4 stars.

Piece Of My Heart is a drama-filled romance that will make you cry, but make you smile at the end. It’s love at first sight for Alex, but Sarai makes him work for it, and things don’t come easy for them.

They love each other immensely, but the relationship puts Sarai at odds with her aunt and uncle (who raised her) since Alex is not Jewish. A tragic event puts another wedge in their relationship as regret, blame and depression takes hold. Ultimately, Alex and Sarai are able to work their way back to one another, but it’s a long and winding road.

Unbreak My Heart (Fostering Live #1) is one of my favorite books, a story that I reread often. I haven’t read the others in this series yet, but the bar was set pretty high for Alex and Sarai. While I didn’t absolutely love it the way that I did Unbreak, it is still a fantastic story with rich characters, real-life situations and the hard work it takes to make a marriage work. And I loved getting to catch up with the other family members.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Alex surprised me in this book. He was always the one that seemed so care free. I never thought he would want to settle down so quickly.

Sarai comes into his orbit and throws everything off. She plans for everything and Alex didn’t fit into those plans. He wormed his way through however he needed to and broke her down.

Their love gives you so much warmth while reading their story. This wouldn’t be a Nicole Jacquelyn story thought without something throwing a kink in their happiness.

Your heart will break for them. You will be begging for them to come through this together. You will fall in love with them to the point they feel like family and you will feel their pain.

I loved this story! I have missed this family terribly and so glad we finally got to know Alex better.
