I didn’t realize this was just a one chapter excerpt, so I can’t review it based on so little to go on. |
I thoroughly enjoyed The Bachelor. It was a fantastic read! I look forward to getting lost in Duke Dynasty series! |
This was just an excerpt, but reading so many different books by the author, I have no doubt this will be a good one, i'm looking forward to the whole book soon. But I can't judge or review a preview other then it seems promising. |

I enjoyed this historical romance of Lady Gwyn Drake and Major Joshua Wolfe. And also all the rest of the characters. Lady Gwyn Drake has got a secret that if got out could change her life. But her secret my be told by a blackmailer. She is wanting to pay him off before she is to go to London for her debut. But they get interrupted by the estate gamekeeper. Major Joshua Wolfe is the gamekeeper for the cousin estate after he got hurt during the war. One night he comes upon Lady Gwyn Drake and a man while patrolling. The man has her by the arm and she doesn't look happy. This story was fun to read it had quite a bit of an adventure and action that keep me reading. It also had me laughing a lot. I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinion. |
When I read the first book in this series, I fell in love with the lively Lady Gwyn. She’s been getting ready for her London season and she’s getting up there in age so she has to land a proposal. But before heading off, an old suitor comes back to threaten and blackmail her. So her brother decides to send their estate’s game keeper and ex-soldier with her as her bodyguard. But things are not as simple as they all suspect and she’s got plans and secrets of her own. I’m always a sucker for a historical romance with a class disparity. Due to the hero also having an injury from his time at war, he walks with a cane and has plenty of scars. That doesn’t detract him from wanting to fulfill some mission in his life. That might’ve been my favorite part about this story. Joshua isn’t a flashy alpha hero, but he’s got a lot of heart and determination. He doesn’t let his shortcomings stop him from wanting and achieving more in his life. That goes for both getting the girl and also with his career. This was a fun read, even if maybe a little less memorable than the first book in the series. However, I’m still looking forward to reading more from this series and author. |
The Bachelor is a sweet and sexy romance between Gwen and Joshua. Both are great characters and I really enjoyed this story. |

I loved the way they protected each other, the trust, and how they talked to each other. It was so romantic. They loved their families. They also had a good reputation. He was a major in the Royal Marines. She was the daughter of a duke and the granddaughter of a duke. He has a temper but she is calm. She easily attracts men He has a limp from a war wound that almost killed him. I received this ARC from Net Galley and voluntarily reviewed it. |

The second book in the Duke Dynasty a well written story with a very good storyline the story flows smoothly across the pages. Lady Gwyn Drake, needs protection so her twin brother, Thorn, hires Joshua Wolfe to keep her safe. There is suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, a villain, and romance. I enjoyed reading this story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. |
Lady Gwyn has kept a youthful affair secret to protect her family’s reputation, but now her former suitor has returned and will to share her secret. Her twin brother hires Joshua to be her bodyguard for her debut. What will happen when sparks fly between them? Fast-paced historical read with plenty of drama and steamy chemistry. Entertaining historical read with plenty of twists and turns. I liked it. |
If Sabrina Jeffries writes a book, I will read it. Always. I loved The Bachelor. The second book in the series Duke Dynasty, The Bachelor is a great addition to the first book. Emotions ran deep for Joshua (TW: PTSD) who was a surly, broody man, but I really liked his character. Gwyn ended up really coming to life in this book, and I loved seeing the romance slowly unfold as Gwyn brought Joshua out of his shell. This was a great book, and I can't wait for the next book! |
This was a classic Sabrina Jeffries romance with two strong main characters, an interesting plot that kept the story steady without any dull points, and a conflict that was believable and entertaining. The passion was great and I loved the two main characters a lot. Joshua was an enigmatic and complex male lead that really carried the story well. Gwen started off coming across as a bit weak, but definitely improved and was the perfect match for Joshua. They worked well together and there isn’t anything I can say that I didn’t like about this story. Loved it. |
Sabrina Jeffries has been a 'comfort' read of mine for years and she just never disappoints! This is a story about sins of the pasts returning to risk the future and I love how Sabrina handles it. Sexy and very romantic, I highly recommend it.... |

Lady Gwyn Drake has long protected her family’s reputation by hiding an imprudent affair from her youth. But when her former suitor appears at Armitage Hall, manhandling the heiress and threatening to go public with her secrets, it’s Gwyn who needs protecting. Her twin brother, Thorn, hires Joshua Wolfe, the estate’s gamekeeper, to keep her safe in London during her debut. As a war hero, Joshua feels obligated to fulfill the assignment he has accepted. But as a man, it’s torment to be so very close to the beauty he’s fought to ignore. With handsome Joshua monitoring her every move, Gwyn would prefer to forget both the past and the parade of money-seeking bachelors at her coming out. But Joshua is unmoved by her attempts at flirtation, and the threat of blackmail still hangs over her. With danger closing in, Gwyn must decide which is the greater risk: deflecting a scoundrel’s attempts to sabotage her—or revealing her whole heart to the rugged bodyguard she can’t resist I am a huge fan of this author and look forward to reading each book she releases. I read the first book in this series and absolutely loved it! In that book, we were introduced to the entire family, including both of these characters. Their interactions in that book had me wanting them to get their own book and I got my wish! In this book We get to really know Gwen and Joshua. I absolutely LOVED Joshua. I really liked Gwyn but there were times when she acted reckless for the sake of being stubborn. I’m all for independence but not for the sake of putting yourself in harm’s way. Beyond that I just loved this book and can’t wait for the next book in this series. I highly recommend. **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book |
The Story in 4 Sentences or Less: Lady Gwyn Drake has kept her youthful affair a secret from her family for years but when her former suiter shows up threatening to expose their affair if she doesn’t pay him, Gwyn knows she’s in over her head. Her twin brother hires the estate’s gamekeeper, Joshua Wolfe, to keep her safe in London but while Joshua agrees to watch over Gwyn, it’s pure torture for him to be so near to her. With Joshua practically glued to her side, Gwyn has a choice to make, go through her debut and pick a husband from the endless line of money hungry men, or take a chance that Joshua might have the same feelings for as she’s beginning to have for him. Like It? Hate it? Love it? Why? The Bachelor was a long time coming. So long in fact, that I had to re-read the first book in order to reacquaint myself with the characters, plots, and sub-plots. Not a hardship since I liked the first book. The first thing I noticed about Gwyn is that she’s not annoyingly young, she’s around 30 so she wasn’t prone to childish antics. She did have moments of being naïve, but given the time period the book takes place, it’s understandable and makes her more believable as a historical romance heroine. I liked Gwyn, she was witty, charming, and loved her family no matter how much they annoyed her with their need to protect her. She tries to keep herself optimistic despite her circumstances. Enter Joshua Wolfe who is the exact opposite. A war injury has him using a cane and he’s worldly, pessimistic, and cranky. His personality puts him at odds with Gwyn almost every step of the way. Their snarky banter added to the chemistry that started back in the first book but had a chance to grow into something more. I did have one issue with The Bachelor, and it had to do with Joshua. It was that he kept blaming Gwyn for his attraction to her. He would accuse her in different ways of just being a flirt that wanted to manipulate him with her “feminine wiles.” It got old real quick and Gwyn never really sets him straight. I think this took away from the additional growth I think their relationship could have used. The physical chemistry was there between them but I think Joshua and Gwyn needed more time to let their guards down and have meaningful moments of conversation and insight into one another. What I enjoy about this series is how each book is connected in a way that builds a larger plot and rewards faithful readers while not alienating new readers. The Bachelor can be read as a standalone but like all of Sabrina Jeffries books, it’s better to read them all and in order. I’m loving the added mystery of the investigation into Gywn’s father and stepfathers’ deaths. Click It or Skip It? Click It. |

Interesting snippet of a chapter, interesting enough that I bought the ebook in order to keep reading. |
For a preview this was very intriguing! Enjoyed it immensely, would be interested in reading the full novel but I think I'm a little late to sign up! |
The first chapter sampler was very compelling. It certain made me want to read the rest of the book as the story begins with a big confrontation that made me want to know more about the heroine and her situation. I immediately ended up purchasing the full book and continued reading the story. |
