Lisa hasn't been to Evergreen since she was a child, but it has always stuck in her memory. So she has decided to go back for a visit and see if it is still as she remembered. Unfortunately the main store that she remembers has closed and its owner has passed away. Lisa remembers wishing on the snow globe that sat on the counter in the store. Now the store is in disrepair and the Mayor is desperate to sell it. Lisa offers to help stage the store to make an impression on potential buyers. She enlists the help of Kevin, also a local who has moved away but is in Evergreen for a visit. Kevin soon catches Lisa's enthusiasm for the project as well as fellow townsfolk. It doesn't take Lisa's heart long to become attached to the small town life of Evergreen.

Ok, in this case I can definitely say that the movie was better than the book. Hallmark movies are always pretty cheesy, but this book was even cheesier and much more annoying! The redeeming features of Lisa getting the townsfolk involved in the restoration of the store and her enthusiasm for the people and the place helped keep the book from being a total bust for me. On the page the characters of Lisa and Kevin just didn't hit it off as well as in the movie. My mother-in-law always loves to say, "Wait for the Hallmark ending" meaning that we need to wait for the Happily Ever After ending that Hallmark is known for. I kind of missed that in this book. It just didn't seem like it was "in-your-face" romantic like I expect from Hallmark, and the author threw in another character at the ending that I had no interest in whatsoever so yeah, not my favorite book for sure. Sorry Hallmark, I'll stick to the movies and leave the books for others.

This review will post on my blog on release day.

Do you love Hallmark movies? If you answer is YES, then this book is for you! It is a Hallmark movie that you can read. How great is that?
Nancy Naigle is an excellent author that draws you into the story so easily and then the story flows so effortlessly that you feel like you are experiencing it, not reading it. She develops the scenery so well that you are transported to the town of Evergreen. I could even feel the cold and smell the pine, even though I read this book in June!
The story summary is readily available, so I usually do not include that in my review, but I will say that this is a friendship to romance, my favorite type of story. I appreciate the love that is formed much more when two people get to know each other and then find love, the kind that leads them to a Happily Ever After.
I want to thank Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley.com for allowing me to read the ARC of this book. My opinion is my own and not influenced by receiving the ARC. #ChristmasInEvergreenLettersToSanta #NetGalley

Christmas in Evergreen: Letters to Santa
Nancy Naigle
July 16, 2019

Nancy Naigle gives us another look at Christmas in Evergreen by putting her book out in July. Some of you readers may have seen the Hallmark production of this book as I did, in the 2018 Christmas movies this past year. For those of you who did not tune in, Evergreen is located in Vermont. It’s neighbor, Burlington, Vermont is a hustling, bustling city where people crowd the sidewalks coming and going to work, never with a worry of much but their own lives. At Spruce Collectables, a place that is fashionable and filled with items to tempt the many shoppers, Lisa Palmer and her partner Oliver are working to stage a boutique store within the shop to host the annual Christmas sale. Their company is hired by different businesses each year to spruce up for the holiday season. They travel cross country with little time for family so this year as their vacations were set to begin Lisa and Oliver bid their farewell to each other. Oliver, off to his home space in Boston, Mass and Lisa, off to her hometown of Evergreen, Vermont, a place she had not visited since she was a young girl. Generally she spent her down time with her parents however this year they were spending the holidays traveling in Europe. All alone she felt this might be a good time to reunite herself with the small town.
Lisa arrives in Evergreen to find her most precious memory, Daisy’s Country Store, to be dark and closed. She finds that the owner, Daisy, has passed away the previous year with no one interested in purchasing the general store. She meets others while dining in the cozy Chris Kringles Kitchen before settling in the local bed and breakfast. Friendly and welcoming, they spoke of the dilemma that Daisy’s brother had trying to clean and repair the store enough to sell. Lisa volunteers to find someone to do the repairs so she could decorate and stage a Christmas gift shop to give buyers a feeling of the kind of business that could excel at the site
I enjoyed the movie when I watched it, although it was nice to read the book. I wish I could have read it before the movie as I had other Hallmark movies of Ms. Naigle books. There was a prologue at the end of the book that was not included in the movie. I looked forward to it but it was really disappointing. It just didn’t seem to fit with the rest of her story.
Christmas in Evergreen: Letters to Santa by Nancy Naigle is due for publication on July 16, 2019 by Hallmark Publishing. If you enjoy a casual holiday read, this is a pleasant selection.

This is the third book by Nancy Naigle that I've read, and it seems to me that everything she touches comes out as cozy and delicious as a plate of warm chocolate chip cookies by a blazing fire on a frosty winter night. This book is every bit as charming and sweet as the film on which it was based, and I loved every page of it.

The Christmas In Evergreen series is a lovely, feel good series that never fails to bring forth a special and uplifting Christmas story. In Letter to Santa, Lisa, a traveling store stager, travels back to Evergreen a week before Christmas to see once more her favorite hometown of all. She hated leaving as a child when her parents were transferred by their jobs. She remembers the special Christmas all year feeling and wants to relive that for a short time. She especially remembers Daisy's General Store but now it is closed and about to be repossessed by the bank if it isn't sold. Ezra, the mayor of Evergreen, inherited it from Daisy, his godmother. Kevin is from Evergreen but travels for work. He is home for a visit for Christmas like Lisa. The two meet and become friends as they are enlisted to up give Daisy's a quick face lift for viewing by a buyer but their work is cut out for them.
I can see how this is based on a Hallmark movie as it shows the Christmas spirit laced throughout with the townspeople chipping in to help Lisa and Kevin. They want to reclaim the Christmas traditions from before with the choir singing and Evergreen Church bells ringing. This is story of romance and healing for relationships and making new ones. Sweet story!
I received a complimentary ARC from Hallmark Publishing through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine only.

Lisa has returned to her childhood town for Christmas. Old feelings of belonging and wanting to help the town have got her lending a helping hand. Kevin is talked into helping Lisa repair a old store to sale. While he fixes she creates and that’s when the magic of evergreen starts. This is an enchanting and lovable story.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me an e-arc for Christmas in Evergreen: Letters to Santa written by Nancy Naigle in exchange for an honest review. This book is based on the Hallmark Channel Original Movie. Get ready for Christmas in July because this book comes out July 16.

I gave this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars on @goodreads. This was such a cute story. I loved it, especially because it was based around Christmas. I also like how there is an apple dumplings recipe at the end, it’s a nice touch.

This story is about Lisa who is an interior designer who goes back to one of her beloved home towns, Evergreen and fixes up and old store that had closed. Lisa meets Kevin and throughout the book, their relationship grows.

What an absolutely joyous, uplifting book.! A deteriorating store is on the market but unless a buyer is found soon, the bank will repossess it. The mayor and owner of the property is afraid a big box store will come in and ruin the community. Christmas celebrations have always been huge in Evergreen and while everyone wishes it were that way again, no one seems to have the gumption, enthusiasm or nerve to step up and bring life back to the old traditions. Wondrous, exciting things happen when a former resident returns to her childhood home town. Missing the Christmas spirit? Read this book!.

The last sentence of this novel says it all! Who knows who the next Evergreen bride will be? There are multiple romances in this story which isn't really so much about the romance as it is with coping with life's difficulties. Evergreen is a magical place - and one I'd love to visit! - where the Christmas spirit is pervasive and neighbors are loving in that small-town way. Many of the major players here are coping with past hurts and losses, and they find healing together in the town. It's a feel-good read that will surely have a next installment!
