Great circle of friends concept, although they have a sad common denominator, the story is emotionally well-balanced. It is uplifting and very encouraging even with real life insights. There's always more than one way to look at things and these ladies share another perspective that engages the thinking cap. Love the characters, they all have their individual quirks, very realistic with each having strengths and weakness yet very supportive and have big hearts. Enjoyed this one and I look forward to the next one.

When I requested this ARC from NetGalley, I did not realize that it was an excerpt and not the entire book. So it is really hard to judge a book by just a small portion of the book.

This is a store about our women who meet as a result of their parents' journey with cancer. Each woman is handling the journey and subsequent loss differently and this is where the story starts.

I would be interested to see how the story progresses and what the full story is.

This was a sweet, well-written book. Amy's mother had cancer, and Amy has made friends with several other women she met who had a parent with cancer. They have formed the Sunday Potluck Club and lean on each other for support. They reach out to others to offer their help and friendship, and the group grows in ways they did not anticipate. I enjoyed this book and would read other books by this author.

Four young women meet through a common activity - waiting while their parent gets a chemo treatment. Only one parent survives but the friends are supportive of each other as they grieve, each in their own way. Finally Amy is returning to her classroom after caring for her mother until her death. The friends meet on Sundays for a potluck to support, share, and yes, even laugh. Romance comes into this emotional story along with some regrets and questions. Amy is pulled all ways as the peacekeeper and the one always willing to help. This is one story you just cannot put down. I highly recommend this one!

As having dealt with similar issues with cancer, thou mine was not until I was older, it is a story that will be heartfelt by many. I found this to be well written with a story that brings tears at some times and happiness at others.

“The Sunday Potluck Club” tells the story of four friends who are united as they care for ill parents. As they learn to deal with grief and loss in different ways, each woman finds a way to survive and thrive. The book mainly deals with Amy, a schoolteacher, and sharing her loss of her mom with a male friend and his child. The book also paves the way for a follow up novel about Amy’s friend Bridget and her dogs.

This story started out rather slowly, and I was ready to stop reading about cancer deaths and funerals. I skimmed over parts of the book that became repetitive and wordy. The characters are likeable, but I would have liked less starting and stopping throughout. The ending is predictable. This is a clean read without violence, strong language, or sexual scenes. It is definitely “chick lit.”

his book is so many things. It has hope, sorrow, joy , regret and for anyone who has lost a parent grief. I thought of myself after my mother's death and just how hard it was to go back to work yet it being work that helped me over the grief. Bridget and her friends met while their parents were undergoing chemo. As things progressed, they changed from meeting in the hospital cafeteria to on of their homes on Sunday. They needed the friendship to continue and to support each other. It is eloquently written that we process grief differently and while there is no right or wrong, there is a need for friendship and support. This story is mainly about Amy trying to find a new normal after losing her mother. She goes back to teaching and finds a student that she worries about. The little girls dad Trent ended up being the one who rear ended her when she swerved to miss a dog. Trent and his daughter Olivia have just moved to town after his wife died. Amy wants to help Olivia out and starts falling for Trent who has his own issues with grief to work through. Add in Bridget whose mother just died and has now decided to make sure all the dogs are adopted from the shelter and it becomes a book you just can't put down. You just need to know how it will all work out. This book is so good and the story stays with you for a long time.

This book is filled with tons of emotions, words to review are so hard to write as millions of thoughts are swimming in my mind. Bottom line............buy this book today and start this story, you won't be disappointed.

Sunday nights Potluck Club is a night where woman who have listed a loved one can find solace and understanding. As the weeks go on, Bridget and Amy are inspired to find a greater purpose. These seems to me to be a tale of healing after loss, friendship and a little romance. I can’t wait to read more.

This review is for the full book. I really enjoyed this book. I lost my mother years ago so this really resonated with me. I completely understand all of the friends different coping methods. I also like that this is going to be a series as I am looking forward to getting to know all of the girls better. They all spend time at the hospital with their parents who are going through chemo. They wind up starting a Sunday night potluck dinner so they can spend time outside of the hospital and continue supporting each other through their journeys. We get introduced to potential love interests, pets and lives so there is lots of action including romance. A very good read!

The friendship the main characters found with each other was great, but I found the characters a little flat and some of their disgruntlement with one or more of the characters must have rubbed off on me because I didn't love any of them.

it is a good story and I'm wondering if the author is setting it up to be a series - it definitely could be. If you enjoy books about friends, accepting change and hardships and getting through them, you would probably enjoy this book.

Unfortunately, this series just isn't for me. From the description I was expecting the women to meet, have their Sunday Potluck Club, chat about their week/lives & expected the story to move on from there. The book starts off as they are heading to the last of 3 funerals (they met at the hospital cafeteria as their parents were suffering from cancer). Bridget, is hyper & acting as if life is fine (it was her moms funeral). From there the story goes on with frantic hustle & bustle, Amy whining about her life--returns to school to teach, yet her mother has been gone for months. Who has months off after a death? She immediately hones in on a quiet student, sends a note home, is in a car accident & oh yes! It's the students newly widowed father--whom she ends up inviting herself to their house & bringing dinner. So not appropriate on so many levels.
Read at your will, I'm sure most will like it, it's just not for me.

Four friends meet during one of the hardest times in their lives, while their love ones were having cancer treatment. I have already read and met this great character in Melissa Storm story called "BRING ME HOME" that was published in an anthology called Home Sweet Home. Bridget, Hazel, Nichole and Amy have all been together to help each of them cope with their worry and loss.

Pot Luck is about the journey of grief, acceptance, living and moving on, something that these women find hard after the loss of a parent. Friendship and understanding have kept them together and each Sunday they get together to have pot luck dinner together to help each other move forward with their lives. They where all caregivers to their terminal ill parent, their life had revolved around treatment and hospital but know what does a normal life look like after the grief has eased?

Amy has lost her mother and must soon return to work as a teacher. How can she give your students her best when she was not her normal self? But with the help of her friends, Amy will strive to live her life and look forward to a happy future.

Hazel was the first to lose her father, she has come the furthest in recovering from her loss, as she found love during the hardest time of her life. Keith was a nurse in her father oncology ward in the Anchorage hospital.

Nichole is the lucy one she has not lost her sick father has he is in remission. But the friendships she has made during this time will always be there.

This book starts on the day of Bridget's Mothers funeral where all the girls attend to help their friend through this dark day. Bridget does not react the way the girls thought she would but they have promised to be there for her always.

Friendship in its greatest form is shown during this reading as we learn everyone is different and we all grieves and react to death in very different ways. But thanks to our friends we can all make it through the dark days to find love and happiness in an uncertain future.

What a heartfelt read. I really enjoyed it. It was sad, but when you have experienced loss, suffering, and can find yourself relating to the characters within a story you are reading, it does something to you. The manner in which it touches your soul, no words can describe what you feel, how you absorb the story. You simply FEEL it vs go thru it, if that makes sense.

I think everyone should read this story, have the book in your arsenal. While there is death within the pages, I didn’t feel it was a story surrounding death, but more so, life. The lives of those left behind to grieve and get back to some semblance of normalcy after suffering a loss.

I really enjoyed this book. This is my first Melissa Storm book! I loved the story line and am very lucky to read an advanced copy of this book.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It follows the lives of four women that met and bonded throughout their loved ones' cancer treatment, and it's a story of friendship, survival and dealing with grief. Amy is the primary character, and she's surrounded by Bridget, Nicole, and Hazel .

We see each woman deal with grief very differently, and we learn their strengths and weaknesses. It's great seeing how they support each other through difficult times.

While grief is a primary theme throughout this book, it never seems too heavy and weighed down. Overall, it's a story about overcoming grief and moving on, and each of the women is able to move on in a meaningful way.

Looking forward to more books by Melissa Storm. She writes with depth of feeling and emotion, but it's never so heavy that you feel like putting it down.

Last fall I was able to read an excerpt from The Sunday Potluck Club. It served to make me want to read the entire book written by Melissa Storm when it is available in 2020. It was difficult to wait for the full story of Bridget, Nichole, Hazel and Amy who meet in a cafeteria waiting for loved ones receiving chemo. The club starts out as a support for them but becomes so much more.

Without a doubt this is the richest, most intensely emotional book I have read by Ms. Storm. The characters are human, struggling with the grief, the anger and with learning that life should go on; each day being celebrated. Others join the story with a bit of romance but this is a women’s fiction story. True life is full of regrets, choices and celebrations. Children lose parents, young and grown it is difficult. Now I don’t think I can ever look at a black dress without thinking of Amy.

Sad, poignant but also hopeful. The Sunday Potluck Club shares it all with true vivid descriptions of how you feel when a loved one dies. In this story death is caused by the dreaded C word. No matter how death came to be, anyone who has stood at the open grave of a loved one can relate to this book.

Amy has been through a lot. Since her mother got cancer things have never been the same. She joined a club where other people share their stories and support each other through this hard times. The book focuses on a group of women that made a friendship while they where taking care of their parents that had cancer.

All these women have to learn to move on after losing someone to cancer. A wonderfully written book with a lot of love, realness, some sad moments but many good messages and above all, hope.

Absolutely loved to meet this women and follow in this book Amy as she struggles to allow herself to be happy again. The characters were so relatable and their struggles felt so real that you just wanted to hear more about their lives and their stories.

A book that is heavily based on the characters and their personalities, so it is a bit more slow paced when it comes to the story development.

The second book will follow one of her friends Bridget and I can not wait to read it.
