Thank you Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC in exchange for my honest review. This was an enjoyable book.

3.5 stars. This book was messy, but it had good moments. I found Holly a bit annoying at time, but Thom was cool.

Funny, heartwarming, and really nice quick read! Perfect for getting you out of a reading slump. I'm definitely going to be watching out for what this author does next!

Unfortunately this was just an excerpt so it's not quite possible to write a review for it. Nevertheless it did peak my interest.

I loved this!!! Such a fun book - right up my alley with a YA rom com. I loved Holly Danner as a character - Sarah Skilton created such depth in her which is so refreshing. I was hooked from the beginning and have recommended to many people since!

Although I did get an e-arc from net gallery I ended up reading a physical copy from library. I did enjoy the book, the opening chapter was an interesting start to the book. The rehab centre/ program our main character was enrolled in, was a bit unbelievable as someone who is in the healthcare industry. The love interest was not bad but was really basic/mysterious guy. I was surprised that the main character was still quite close with her cast mates for a long time after the show. And I found the road trip and how the plot wrapped up kind of unsatisfying. I would read more from her in the future though.

Even though this was only a sample, I somewhat enjoyed the plot of this book. The story was quirky and funny in it’s own way. It just wasn’t quite what I was expecting and wasn’t for me.

This was a sample chapter and not a full book so I only got to see the set up.The script and Reddit AMA is an interesting format but I'm not that interested in reading more.

Even though this is a sampler, I got a feel for the humor and style of the book and liked the child-actor-grown-up angle. I haven't read or seen many of those, and it'll be interesting to see how the rest of the story plays out!

This is a review of a sample chapter, not a finished novel! Sprightly and charming, I'll keep an eye out for the novel itself.

I got the chance to read an extended preview of Fame Adjacent. It’s a book about a former child star who’s dealing with her lack of comparative fame to her previous co-stars.

I only got to read the set up of the plot but what I read was very enjoyable. It was witty and fast paced with quirky characters and lively descriptions. I also was able to make a lot of relatable connections to my own childhood as I’m a 90s kid.

The program Holly starred in as a child was clearly based on The New Mickey Mouse Club. I was obsessed with that show and an amazing amount of celebrities got their start on the program. I enjoyed the summary of her old co-stars and picking out what celebrities they were meant to mirror.

I am very interested in finishing this book and will be buying the full copy. I can’t wait to see how Holly’s story turns out!

Definitely give it a read if you’re looking for a fun beach book or a light and bubbly contemporary story!

This book was so fun! This was the first book I've read from this author and I really enjoyed it. The story was different from anything I've read recently and really captured my attention. It was so well written and the characters were fantastic.

This book was... absolutely bizarre??? I suppose I liked the way that everything ended, but I feel like the plot did a complete 180 to get there and it left me feeling more confused and icky than satisfied. Everything about this just kind of felt really messy. Womp.

I was so excited for this book, but I was sadly disappointed. I was under the assumption that the main character was a teenager. When I discovered she was 36 I viewed the book in a totally different light. I got frustrated with her for being so obsessed with her failed dreams and being addicted to the internet. I don't think it is bad book by any means. I am just not the right audience for it.

I really enjoyed this preview and can't wait to read the whole book! Well-written and funny, with a sympathetic main character and interesting premise. Will make a great summer read.

Sarah Skilton crafts a cute story about what it's like when your dreams don't quite come to fruition and how to pick up the pieces with her newest release, Fame Adjacent. Holly Danner was a child star, and when all of her friends transitioned to larger fame, her career didn't quite take off. Now, there's a 25th anniversary planned, and it's time to confront the life she has and what could have been.

Many thanks to Sarah Skilton, NetGalley, and Grand Central Publishing for providing me with a copy of this book for review. All thoughts are my own.

This preview was okay but it did not make me want to finish the book I mean I’m sorry but this really wasn’t what I was hoping it would be

I had previously requested this book and was declined. So, I was happy to see this extended preview. It was ol, nothing great. I wish I could say it made me want to read the book, but it did not. Not my cup of tea. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the arc of this book in return for my honest review review. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on this review.

Oh Cher, I loved it!!!

It has such a nice concept, I'm really interested in knowing more about the "internet addict" thing, how Holly will recover from this, if ever... and how the crashing event will go.
I really wish I could have the whole book right now to find out!!!

I’ve been itching to read this book since I heard of it and I got to read a little excerpt here. I grew up watching the new Mickey Mouse Club, so I get where this is coming from. My favorite MMC guy never made it big!
In this story, Holly was on her version of MMC as a kid. The entire rest of the cast was made of if future Brittneys and Justins and Holly was the only one who faded into obscurity.
She’s still been trying to find work as an actress.
I’m not sure what she’s been didn’t for work currently (babysitting?) but she just lost her job.
Her former cast mates are all getting together publicly after all of these years and no one invited Holly.
She’s been obsessed with the internet and her phone lately. She got fired from her job because she was on her phone obsessively.
And now she’s in some type of rehab for internet addiction.
This is definitely a book I want to read.
