I thought that this was a very steamy and fun read. Casey and Liam were great characters that have sizzling chemistry. I thought the story offered a good blend of drama, sweetness, humor, heat and heart. Very enjoyable.

A little She’s All That vibe with some serious grown up heat!

It starts with some bad news from her editor and ends with finding the love of her life! Cassie is a romance writer who can’t quite get the sexy stuff on the page. Liam is a co-owner of an Irish pub with a brother who seems destined to ruin the business. A bet between the brothers leads Liam to approach Cassie at a low point that leads to some serious steam!

I really liked how affirmative Liam was of not only Cassie’s body but also her talent and intelligence and that she was supportive of his hours at the bar. What I didn’t love quite as much was the long drawn out secret but that’s a personal thing - it always bugs me for secrets to be drawn out too long.

I’d definitely love to see a book about Finn and Tansey seemed like she’d be the perfect girl for Cassie’s brother!

I received a complimentary review copy of this book but all opinions are my own.

A sweet romance writer who's told she needs to up her game to steamy novels, a hot Irish pub owner that fits the bill to fill up the pages. I'm surprised my e-reader didn't melt from the hot steamy sex and dirty talk. No strings attached, experience for her book, sexual gratification for both. Except that isn't always the way it turns out! A quick, enjoyable read. Great for a day to just kick back, relax and enjoy!

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for introducing me to Candace Havens and the opportunity to read this novel. I enjoyed it so much I purchased it tbr again.

2.5/5 Stars

This is one of those books that has so much going for it, but it doesn't quite reach its full potential. There are some really great things in this book and a lot of things that I felt needed some work.

I really liked both of the main characters in this story, but I felt like they were underdeveloped. I certainly got the gist of their personalities through the writing, but I couldn't help but thinking over and over again how much better these characters could have been with more polish to them. We basically got the bare bones of what these characters could have been. I admit that at the start of the book I was fairly uninterested in them altogether. I did start to care about them closer to the end of the book, but I never fully connected with them. It is a shame too because they really did have something special that just needed more nurturing. Adding more depth to these characters could have taken them from "getting the job done" to "blowing it out of the water". Also, some of the dialogue felt choppy and forced to me.

The plot of this story was okay but honestly, it could have used some work. I felt that the premise for both Liam's and Cassie's plotlines were interesting, but pulled together a little too loosely. It felt like the stakes weren't quite where they needed to be. There just didn't seem to be enough conflict in the story. The whole book felt like it was mainly about sex. The sex totally overshadowed the other points in the story. I think that part of the problem was the length of the book. This book is very short. Reading this book felt like reading the bare bones of what a book should be. The basic framework is there, but it just needs some more details to fatten it up.

This story had a very strong insta-love feel to me. Cassie and Liam both go into this thing between them as a no-strings-attached one-time thing but they find that they have an incredible connection in bed and that spills over into wanting to spend more time together. The entire romance between them, apart from the epilogue, happens within a four to five week time frame. And most of that time is spent having sex. They do spend a little time together outside of the bedroom, but I really didn't like how their relationship sparked over having the best sex of their lives and not wanting to walk away from it. The fact that they fall in love and don't even really know it or admit it to themselves felt forced because of the instalove factor. I really would have liked to see them out of the bedroom more and experiencing everyday things together. And I think that it would have lessened the insta-love feel if the timeframe would have been drawn out.

While I felt that the romance was a little problematic because of the insta-love, I can't deny that Cassie and Liam had damn good chemistry together. Apart from the insta-love, I liked the evolution of their feelings for each other. Their romance just needed to be fleshed out a little more to make it completely believable. I think that the main issue with it is that there really wasn't any build up at all. They both jumped in with both feet and kept freefalling.

I am struggling with what I think an appropriate rating is for this book. I did have a lot of issues with this book, but on the plus side, I do think that it has some redeeming qualities. I noticed that the last quarter of the book, especially the last chapter and the epilogue, was written much better than the beginning of the book. Almost shockingly so. I am not sure where the difference is coming from, but if that magic could be worked into the rest of the book then it would be in much better shape.

Overall, this is a story that has a lot of potential but in the end, I found it lacking. It has the basics down but it needs some more depth to really make it shine. If you are someone that likes a light, quick, and smutty read then this would be a great book for you to pick up.

Liam’s younger brother Finnrushed behind the bar . He was a half hour late for his shift. Finn was always falling in love with every woman he slept with. Liam didn’t care how many women Finn married or almost married- if not for the fact they each owned fifty percent of this original Irish pub- The Boars Head and the soon to be ex wife would own one fourth of his family's legacy. Finn didn’t see the risk. But Liam had to stop his brother from making a big mistake and risking everything their family had worked for, that Liam had sacrificed for. The last engagement had last right up to three weeks before the wedding and than the woman broke the engagement to Finn. That’s when Liam had called the lawyer and asked for a prenup that protected the pub. Finn usually only dated the women up to a month before proposing to themLiam’s grandparents had opened the pub in the 1920’s. It was hard keeping the bar afloat with one of the most popular pubs across the street- The Rustic Pig, celebrities and politicians from around the world came to hang with the O’Brians in their fancy digs. The Boars Head was a more authentic Irish pub experience with its homemade shepards pie and stew. Liam never understood the appeal of marriage, it wasn’t his thing although he had been engaged once. People were drawn to finn, it made him good at his job, working the front of the bar. Liam bet his brother couldn’t go a month without a date- without trying to pick up a woman or trying to marry one. Finn said he may take the bet if Liam dated the very next woman who walks into the bar. Finn said that was the bet, and Liam agreed to it. But he hadn’t really dated since his ex ran off with his best friend. Liam had a rule no relationships and had no intention of falling in love again. Cassie’s parents owned the Rustic Pig. She waited on tables there until her hands were calloused and her heart was nearly broke. Than she’d discovered writing. Her way out of hell that only an introvert would understand when forced to live in her parents extrovert world. Her sweet romance novels had been doing well but her agent-and friend-Tansy-insisted Cassie challenge herself. Tansy had told Cassie to write something sexy. That’s where the real money was. If Cassie wanted to write full time and quit waitressing forever she could get a big advance for an erotic romance. It was a dream come true but Cassie didn’t have much experience. She’d been to shy to date in HS and a little too round to relish getting naked in college. Cassie could tell from Tansy’s face she hated the pages she had given her. Tansy told Cassie her advice was if she wanted the book to work go get some experience. If a guy can get her there she’d be able to open the floodgates on her writing. As her friend tansy was telling her this. Than TCassie decided she couldn’t go to her parents to borrow the money she had gotten for the advance on the book. Walking in The Rustic Pig meant losing all her dreams. Cassie headed to The Boars Head she needed some liquid courage. She’d never been there so no one knew her. Cassie’s parents place was too sophisticated to be a pub this place was what a pub really looked like. Cassie was the next woman to walk through the door and the one Liam was to date. Cassie was tired of being the good girl. The one who had to be set up on endless dates with boring friends. Than Cassie saw a gorgeous man behind the bar winking at her. Than a voice told her his brother was asking if she needed a drink. She looked at the man and thought she’d pass out. Whereas his brother was all dimples and laughter , this guy was dangerous. Liam figured he’d ask this girl out a couple times and then they’d apart their way and Finn would be in monk hell for a month. This lady had a lot going on behind her honey-colored eyes. She was sharp and didn’t miss much. She was used to everyone underestimating her. He wouldn’t make that mistake twice. Liam couldn’t believe he wanted to know more about her. She was an artist. Used to be too- a long time ago . A musician. Everything around him would be inspiration for the songs he wrote. His evenings he’d create music that flowed from his fingers to his guitar strings. He’d went through four years of business school for his dad and planned on taking off after graduation . Than he had to give up his dreams and go home. His dad had a heart attack . His mom wanted him to move back home. Than they introduced themselves and Liam asked Cassie if she wanted to go to the diner Cassie asked why he asked her out and he said she didn’t say what he expected and he was tired of predictable.
I loved this book. It was a greta romantic book with a lot of sex and a little drama in it. I loved Cassie and Liam together and how they interacted. I didn’t want to put this down and read it in one setting. I loved the pace and the plot. I loved how Liam gave up his dreams to do as his mom asked him to come home. He gave up his dreams for the family legacy of the pub. I loved how Cassie got her inspiration from liam as well as the pub and how she liked to write while at the pub. I loved how liam reserved the booth she loved to write in while he worked. I also loved how Cassie helped Liam get back into some of his music. I loved how Liam and fimm kept the Irish pub as authentic as they could. I loved how liam was willing to take Finn’s part of the bet to stop him from making a big mistake with some woman. I loved the ending. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.

I enjoyed the story of Cassie and Liam. It’s very steamy and it’s more physical than love. At least that’s how it feels to me. There’s a lot of sex but there aren’t very many ways that show they are in love. It have funny moments. I liked how it all played out and how it ended. I would recommend it. It’s a steamy, quick summer read.

I really liked this book a lot and Liam and Cassie make the perfect couple, they just belong together.
Cassie starts of having no confidence and no real sexual experience, so when her best friend and agent Tansie tells her that her romances are lackluster and needs a lot more sexual language and scenes, she has to figure out how to become more free and open to the experiences a man can give her.
Liam is the owner of an Irish pub and he has closed himself of from having relationships since his ex and her cheating ways left him heartbroken. His brother Finn on the other hand falls in love every other day and he wants to find a love like their parents have so his heart is wide open. Liam and Finn makes a bet and Liam’s part of the bet is to date the next woman who walks in the pub, and that woman is Cassie.
Liam helps Cassie open up and not be afraid to say what she wants and feels and the more they are together the more brave, sassy and confident she gets.
Cassie helps Liam open up to the possibility of love again and she helps Liam and Finn with ideas to make the pub more homey and get more clientele.
I love that these two really help each other and even though they try to explain the love away they just want to be together all the time and can’t keep their hands of each other.
The characters are all great and those Irish boys are really something special.
I can definitely recommend this book especially in these summer months when you just need a cute, funny, lighthearted romance.

This book wasn't for me.

It is your typical struggling artist meets handsome sexy hero. Romeo and Juliet style of family pub rivals. I couldn't get into it.

On a positive note, I will admit the chemistry and passion in this book is off the charts! Candace's writing technique is beautiful! It flowed perfectly.
Also the cover! Yum 😂😂

This was such a quick, fun and steamy read!
In this novel we follow Cassie who is a romance author, she usually writes sweet romance but is trying her hand at writing her first sexy book. She needs inspiration and when she visits the Irish bar across the street from her parents pub, she finds a muse in the owner Liam who runs the bar with his brother. They have a one night stand that turns into more when neither of them want to stop seeing each other. What Cassie doesn’t know is that Liam made a bet with his brother that he would woo the next single woman that stepped through the door, and Liam doesn’t know that Cassie is the daughter of his competitors.

I basically read this book in one sitting and I really enjoyed it, it was a fun, sexy time and I had forgotten how sexy an Irish hero could be. There was plenty of steamy scenes which was on the dirtier side (just a heads up if you don’t enjoy that). This might not be the most original story, and there were a few small inconsistencies that bugged me slightly, but it was enjoyable for what it was! I give it 3,5 stars.

My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I light, breezy beach-side read. It has a bit of everything, with the usual insta attraction, smouldering looks, hunky heroines and curvaceous heroines who travel the bumpy road to true love. some of the dialogue was a bit wordy and unnatural, but this will do the job if you are looking for a simple, fun read. 3.5 out of 5

This was a good read. I struggled at times to connect but for the most part I enjoyed it. The settting was a little limited which I think in turn limited the storyline. It was a sexy read just a little slow at times.

Passionate, fun, and unputdownable!

A bet between two brothers: one that falls in love with every girl he meets, and one who is never giving his heart away again. Add in a romance writer in desperate need of inspiration and a hint of forbidden romance, rival family businesses and you have a everything you need for a perfect quick romance read with a good balance of heat, heart, humor and great characters.

Now I really hope Liam’s brother Finn gets his own story!

DNF @ 48%

I was intrigued by this from the moment I started this novel, however as I got further into it I felt like nothing progressed. The main characters never developed and the plot didn't really move forward. I didn't feel like there was any chemistry between Cassie and Liam which made it increasingly hard to connect and get invested in their story. I honestly, got really annoyed with our main heroine which was a big reason for why I decided to DNF, as she constantly repeated the same dialogue over and over--both in and out of the bedroom. Another large reason for my DNF was also due to how much the sex felt forced; everything was super rushed and crammed into these small amount of pages, it felt like the author wanted these scenes to be super dirty and steamy so badly that it felt like they were trying to hard to be and thus they...weren't.

Liam’s bet with his brother is the best thing that happened to him.

Liam O’Connor has bet his brother that he will date the next available woman that enters The Boars Head, the pub they inherited from their parents when they retired to Ireland. Romance writer Cassie Meadows is the next available woman in the bar. Cassie needs to up her romance writing and change her writing style from sweet romance to more erotic because that is where the bigger contracts are in romance.

Liam asks Cassie out even though she is wearing sweatpants and Cassie is very interested in Liam so she goes to his apartment above the bar which gives her inspiration to revamp her book and make it sexier. Cassie only gives Liam her pen name which will cause trouble for Cassie later on because Cassie is daughter of the owners of the bar across the street that is the main competition for Liam’s pub. Cassie has never told her family that she is a professional romance writer because she felt that they would always put her down like she felt as a kid.

Bet Me to Stay is a really good romance where Cassie finds out that Liam is the one for her.

A surprisingly good read. I say surprising because the beginning of the book seemed a little trite and uninteresting but the more I read the more I became engrossed with the storyline. I love that the main characters were actually aware of their individual issues and they didn't make excuses for their behavior. I like reading about people who take accountability and in romance novels it's rare to have that instead of dithering women who are always the victim or hero men who get away with being jerks because they are so "alpha". Overall, I ended up enjoying this book, it was a light, fun summer read.

Fun and quirky! What starts out as a bet for Liam and Cassie soon turns into something real and lasting. Of course everything is not smooth sailing but what is real love without a little bruising. This is a quick and often funny read about a girl who is still testing her boundaries. When she finds out how strong and powerful she can be she also discovers true love and a family who adores her.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book.
It was definitely a quirky read, with the main characters being extremely easy to like. In the beginning, a lot of the story was about the two characters being together physically. As it progressed, we did get to know them a bit better, however a few more scenes with them getting more acquainted would have been nice too.
I enjoyed the ending and the development with the family, that was lovely.

I really liked this story. It had humour, sexy and sweet all rolled into a quick paced romance. The ending was sweet, however the family aspect of the resolution seemed a little rushed and a little off from what we had seen earlier. Overall, a good story. *I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.
