While I've read quite a few books about time management and how to prioritize our must-dos and activities, I don't think I have read one that specifically has the reader break down their priorities into purpose categories. It really shows where you are spending most of your time. Separating items into the red/yellow/green time zones is something new to me as well. It puts into perspective the level of attention that truly needs to be given to some of our top priorities compared to other less important tasks or tasks that can be done with a little less attention or precision.

I had a hard time getting into the book. The author's personal story is important, but it got kind of long at the start.

There is so much written about time management that when I look at a new book about this topic I'm looking for a fresh perspective with unique suggestions. This book is a broad, general discussion of time management and finding your purpose in the season that you're in. Morgan is right that one of the keys to time management is finding your purpose in the season you're in; I've learned that in my own life recently. But it felt like there was too much that she wanted to say or be sure to include, so it briefly mentioned of lot of tips you've heard before or things to keep in mind that can be found in other books. Time management fans like myself would still read and enjoy it, but there's nothing specifically new or unique that you can only get from this book.

While we all have the same 24 hours in a day we all use them differently. I am such a planner and find that I just don’t have enough time to do all I think I need to do. Take Back Your Time had me really stopping to re-evaluate the things I cram into each day.

The book is broken down into steps that can actually be accomplished and implemented by the best and worse planner. Her use of color zones has been a huge game changer! I know I will reread and continue to use Morgan’s tips in the future.

Thanks to Revel for the complimentary ebook. Although i received it. All opinions are my own!

Organization! Who doesn't want more organization in their lives?! I was excited to read this new book by Morgan Tyree called Take Back Your Time. I'm always feeling like I'm running behind when it comes to my life being what I dream it could be. And this seems to be a normal feeling for young moms with young kids. So when a book comes out about time management, I pick it up and hope that finally something will click for me.
Morgan's book has a unique way of looking at time management with dividing your time into different "time zones"--Green (focus energy time), Yellow (multitasking time), and Red (personal time). She encourages her reader to embrace the season they are in at this moment. So many times we feel like we should be accomplishing more, but the season of life we are in doesn't allow for it. I love that she takes this into consideration.
Morgan says, "With different seasons of life come different opportunities and obligations. Recognizing your current season of life is essential to knowing how to intentionally orchestrate your time." (loc.160 in ebook)
I loved all the questions that Morgan includes throughout her book to help guide you in implementing the time management strategies that she teaches. They are definitely a useful tool! I also enjoyed the section on how your personality plays into your management of time. I guess I never really thought about how my personality would influence this part of my life. Morgan also advises that you keep a "Done List." I'm not sure why I never did this before, but it is brilliant. I am forever saying to my husband when he asks how my day went that I can't remember what on earth I did that day! I think this happens so much when you are at home with the children. Life seems to fly and you are busy all day long picking up messes and feeding kids, but when you get to the end of the day, it just all blurs together! So keeping a simple list of the tasks I accomplish will help me to see that I have been productive throughout my day. And last but not least, I appreciate that Morgan says that our greatest influence with our time management is God. "The most significant thing you can do to positively impact your time management and find the sweet spot is to lean into God and his direction for your time. He has given you the Holy Spirit to help you through each hour of your life. Press into his guidance and his still small voice." (loc.1839 of ebook) This was encouraging to read that the author acknowledged the priority of God in directing our steps.
If you're looking for a little direction with your time management, pick up Morgan Tyree's new book, Take Back Your Time and start learning how to better management the time that God has given you.

My review:

When I was offered the chance to review this book I didn’t hesitate one minute to accept. I really needed some guidance with that area in my life *hides*. Anyway, the tactical tips this book suggests are quite good, but, at least for me, I found them a somewhat to “shallow”. Another thing I didn’t enjoy about this book was the longggg intro chapters about the authors experiences with managing time. Those chapter really did it for me and ir regretfully I couldn’t finish the book. I’m a college student, so I feel this book is more aimed toward mothers/wife’s, and married couples. Some of the tips I read were very good if in that life situation. So, yes, I would recommend it to older adults, but sadly not a book for me.

We all have the same 24 hours in a day. But do we use them as well as we could? Take Back Your Time helps give you tips on regaining control of your time. The author breaks time down into Red, Green and Yellow time zones to help you manage what’s important. I will definitely be implementing the Daily 5 at home. I found the Purpose Umbrella as a great tool to use to make sure what makes it to my calendar belongs. I found the extra tips at the end of the chapters helpful. If you are struggling to figure out what tasks to do and when to do them this book is one for you. I was blessed to be able to read this before the release. My copy came today and I will be reading this one again and taking notes.

Stressing over getting everything done? Wondering how you can find more minutes and hours in a day? Well, all of us are given twenty-four hours each day but knowing how to manage these hours is the key and Morgan Tyree has written a book to help us get started. In her introduction she states that if we want to 'maximize time and minimize stress, you are in the right place' and she also mentions our seasons and our walks of life. Well, I am now a retired librarian but it seems like I am busier than ever, so, Take Back Your Time is definitely a book I need to read!
Morgan Tyree offers practical tips and suggestions that are easily understood and adaptable and she also shares some of her own experiences. It is clear that she has invested a lot of thought, time, and effort in the writing of this book and I believe that it will be a valuable resource to many people.

Tyree offers so many tips and instructions in the nine chapters of this book. Each chapter has a creative title and each one begins with an interesting quote about time. I was especially intrigued by suggestions offered in the three chapters labeled as the time zones chapters with the simple reminders that Green (GTZ) means Go; learning to juggle our time and proceeding with caution in the Yellow (YTZ) ; and taking time for our self-care and knowing when to stop in the Red zone (RTZ).
Perhaps the best tip is for the younger readers of this book but it is one that we older readers should have already learned. 'Setting things down, saying no, or even changing your mind are all part of a good time manager. Embrace your season, your productivity, and your design.' And finally, Tyree reminds us that our time is 'a responsibilty, a privilege, and a gift.'

Really enjoyed this book! I love how simple the author lays out of foundation to help you take back your time. I highlighted so many important tips and loved the practical implementation as I read along. Loved this quote, “You have the power to choose a life of fullness and to set aside the draining existence of being overwhelmed and busy, but you will need to make that deliberate and intentional choice. Choose to remove busy from your vocabulary and prepare to welcome a fuller life—a life full of purpose, meaning, and value. No more frantic, only full.” A definite book to put on your read list!

Book Review of Take Back Your Time:
I was hesitant to try out this book but it had been a while since I read any non-fiction that wasn't World War Two, (#notaddictedtowarstories) and I'm glad I did. Take Back Your Time has some wonderfully helpful tips, (like getting rid of clutter and one I probably should work on: a set short time for social media.) And I relate to the struggles the author mention which helped me to see that the advice is for everyone and this is a helpful book that you should check out. The cover sold me on the book surprisingly, just ago you know. 😉
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review – all the thoughts are my own.

Really well written book on organizing your time . She gives examples from her life and how to use the tips in our lives. I like how she groups tasks into three different colored zones. A very enjoyable and inspiring read. A must read for anyone who thinks that organizing your time is hard.

Take Back Your Time by Morgan Tyree is a great book if you need help using your time wisely with less stress and with more productivity.
I loved the fact that she gives you permission to get rid of those things that suck your productive time up and cause stress in the process. With those things gone you can get through your days, weeks and months knowing that what is left are those things that bring value to you and your family.
Having a plan outlined for your day helps with getting you and your family up and out of the house with as little stress as possible and then coming home in the evening to a meal that you've already started in the slow cooker so you can spend time with the one's you love instead of worrying about what you are going to feed them. Love it!

I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

"Take Back Your Time" is a primer for those whose plates are filled to overflowing and are ready to delegate and prioritize. We can't always take on every positive thing that comes our way, and there are already many things vying for our attention.

There are so many good tips in this book, with specific activities that help the reader cut through the extras and get to the point. We all want our lives to flow smoothly, and while we can't control everything, we can control what we allow to be our priorities.

By separating out the most important items in our lives by assigning them what the author calls "time zones," the reader is encouraged to fit what is most necessary into the hours we are each given every day. That may mean cutting out some things, tearing through clutter or exercising our right to say "no" to extra things that cause us stress. She also empowers the reader to set goals that can actually be met and make sure our values line up with the life we are actually living.

Tyree has a proven system that works here, and many would be wise to heed her advice. After all, she knows what she's doing, this is her day job--helping others live more organized lives. She believes in this message and its power to change outlooks, reduce stress and encourage more lives ruled by content, not chaos.

I got to read an advanced reader copy, thanks to Revell. All opinions are my own and I chose to leave a review. This is a really helpful book!

Another time management book? Yes, but this one comes at the issue with some fresh considerations. Tyree emphasizes choice. Since we all have 24 hours each day, what we choose to do in those hours makes the difference. She helps us determine our purposes, those areas we feel God is calling us to focus on, then establish priorities. She also writes about recognizing our strengths and unique abilities, personality styles and energy levels. She helps us evaluate our commitments. Knowing our purpose and priorities helps us to say no to requests.

Another new aspect of time management for me was to determine my daily cycles of productivity. Using her method, we can establish our best times to focus on tasks, our times we should be flexible, and the hours we can fill with what we want (and perhaps need for our own well being). She has a different way of writing out goals. She uses the acronym LIGHT rather than the familiar SMART.

Tyree includes time management tips too. We are reminded we need to say no sometimes. Finding cheerleaders was new to me. She offers free printable charts, such as time logs and calendars at her website to help in the discovery tasks.

Tyree tells lots of her own stories so the book is entertaining as well as informative. It's a good book for people who want to figure out how to organize their days considering their callings and their personalities.

I received a complementary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

Which of us doesn’t need more intention in our daily schedules? As a work-from-home wife and mom of three, I need all the tips I can get for managing my time and stress.

Morgan Tyree is a professional organizer, writer and fitness instructor. She’s a busy wife and mom, like me. In Take Back Your Time, she shares many organizing tips based on a green, yellow and red light system. This easy-to-remember mental picture is already helping me.

For example, I am a morning person. I have felt guilty for some time for spending my first hours of the day, checking email and social media. The afternoon is when I tackle my content creation. I beat myself up about this, thinking that I should be getting the harder stuff done in the morning. But by studying Morgan’s system, I learned that the afternoon is my green light time, and it’s just fine that it falls that way. It’s OK for me to schedule less draining activities in the morning yellow zone, and recharge in my evening red zone.

She offers many more tips on how to multitask with true efficiency, how to stay on top of emails and social media, and how to manage your calendar. Very solid, tried and true tips. I enjoyed Morgan’s stories of her fails as much as her successes, because they show me that she really knows what she’s talking about! You can also check out her inspirational Instagram feed for before-and-after photos and sign up for some fun giveaways.
