I have loved every other book I have read by this author and looked forward to reading this one and was thrilled to receive it BUT after starting to read this book...was not up to continuing the lighthearted read I believe this would be SO am passing and not finishing after reading a few chapters, a bit in the middle and seeing what happened at the end. Thank you for the opportunity and do look forward to reading more by this author in the future - she writes great characters in wonderful stories...bunnies? Ah well... |
The Kissing Contract by Amy Andrews is a loads of fun, laugh outloud romance. Who knew I'd love a bunny themed romance? If you are a fan of grumpy-sunshine romances, this is a must read! |
In my quest to read as many ARCs as possible during this year's edition of ARC August I decided to check and see if I could find any of them as audiobooks, because why not multitask while working? Thankfully one such book was The Kissing Contract. I knew I was going to enjoy it, because it's an Amy Andrews book, but I didn't quite expect the story to be this cute. I remember when I saw it on NetGalley and I knew I wanted to read it, because it was Amy Andrews, and even then I did not look at the blurb. Unfortunately, I'm a mood reader, so sometimes that means I don't read certain stories right away. Thankfully I was in the mood to read it now, and guys, I am very happy I did. Let me tell you all about it! This story, guys. It has it all. It has a very interesting meet cute, a contract between two lovable dorks that I just wanted to shove into a room, and lock them inside until they got over their differences and stubbornness, and bunnies. What could be cuter than bunnies? Gus is the most adorable heroine I've read in a while. She's a vet, she has a passion for bunnies, and she's sarcastic as hell. I loved her from the first moment we met her, when she basically called Marshall, the hero, a moron, in court. She did that, and I just fell in love with her. She's afraid of being hurt again, so she's trying really hard to resist the attraction she feels towards Marshall. And while she does admit it to herself that she loves him, she realizes that Marshall needs something more than he needs love. He needs to overcome some issues before he can fully commit to a relationship, so she isn't afraid of telling him that. she isn't afraid of telling him stuff he doesn't want to hear, even if it means breaking her own heart, and I respected her for it. Marshall's story was heartbreaking. His childhood hasn't been an easy one, and he doesn't know how to deal with what happened to him, his brother, and his parents. Having lost both parents pretty young, Marshall was forced to grow up way faster than he should have. He was a good older brother, but unfortunately that meant he has a lot of stuff he isn't willing to deal with. Like his hatred for his late grandfather. The story there is heartbreaking to say the least, and like Gus, my heart broke for those two little boys who just needed someone to love them. Prepare for heartbreak once you read this book. There was a lot of chemistry between Gus and Marshall, and I adored their banter. Even if they started their relationship on the wrong foot, I loved how they ended up working as a team to retrieve the bunnies, to take care of them, and even to put them up for adoption. Marshall went from seeing the bunnies as pests to being fiercely protective of the bunnies who received mean comments because they weren't as cute as people think bunnies should look like. He even ended up adopting one of the bunnies that no one wanted, and that made me swoon so much. Because a man who loves animals will always get to my heart. The plot moved quite quickly, and it wasn't long before I found myself at the end. The epilogue was fantastic and it made me smile. I loved everything about it. I wouldn't be me though if I wouldn't wish for Jeremy, Marshall's brother, to get his own book, because I feel like he needs his own happy ending too. The narrator, Shirl Rae, does a fantastic job at bringing this story to life. I loved her narrating style, and I will make sure to check out some of her other audiobooks. She even managed to make Gus's sarcastic comments sound sarcastic, which I find not everyone manages to do that well. I'll definitely check out more of her audio work. All in all, a really cute story that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. |

This was such a cute read and would make an excellent beach read. Marshall wants nothing more than to demolish his uncle's cabin and build on the island but instead is being dragged into court and being told there are bunnies that need to be trapped first and he and the doctor on the other side nearly set the court on fire with the chemistry between them. When they both show up on the island together they work as a team along with the bunny guard to trap the bunnies. So much banter and sass and bunny one liners along with lots of island activities with the guard. So good! **Received this ARC for review from the publisher via NetGalley** |
From start to finish there isn’t one moment that I wasn’t completely emotionally engaged in Marshall and Gus’ story. The Kissing Contract by Amy Andrews is a nonstop roller coaster read of laugh out loud humor (one of the things I enjoy most about Ms Andrews’ writing is that her sense of humor shines through in her writings), witty banter, whip smart repartee, smoothly flowing dialogue, and interesting, multidimensional characters. The locale is mind candy, and as written by the author, easy to place myself right in the midst of all the bunny happenings...and best of all...BUNNIES! This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review. |
I was a bit trepidatious about this book after reading the synopsis - um, bunnies? But, what a sweet surprise this book was for me. Even with the bunnies. Even with the outlandish setup. It still worked for me. This is a fun, flirty read that has a very original premise. The characters are great and the story is sweet. |
Who knew that bunny collection could be so hot? Amy Andrews makes it work! However, this novel is so much more than steamy and sexy. Marshall and Augusta are heartwarming and vulnerable characters that the reader will fall in love with throughout the novel. The emotional connection that builds between the two main characters keeps the reader invested and turning the pages to get to their HEA. Amy Andrews gives readers another wonderfully satisfying romance. |
I received a copy of THE KISSING CONTRACT from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to the author and publisher. FIVE STARS and here’s why: This book really made me LOL! It’s my first Amy Andrews story and I enjoyed her writing immensely. The book is sweeter in the romance department than I’m used to, but the bunny story cracked me up continuously. I read the book in one night – it was that good. Highly recommend! |
This book was laugh-out-loud funny. And despite an over-abundance of ridiculousness (the ABL - American Bunny League and the Bunnyguard, anyone?), this book was delightful. Marshall Dyson inherited an island in a lake in Colorado, which he plans to turn into a camp for families. But the ABL has taken him to court to stop construction on account of all the bunnies that have taken up residence. So now, under judges orders, Marshall must spend one month helping veterinarian Augusta North capture and rehome all the bunnies. Gus is excited about this project. What she’s not so excited about is spending time with the cranky contractor who just wants to get the bunnies off his island as quickly and easily as possible. Of course, the more time she spends with Marshall she realizes he’s not as cranky as he seemed in court. In fact, he’s actually a really nice guy. And all that time spent together makes it really hard not to give into their building attraction. But Marshall has a bad history with relationships, and Gus is still feeling the sting of her past relationship that went bad. A month was all it took to fall in love, but building something that will last and stand the test of time takes a little longer. It’s been a while since I’ve read a book that was so effortlessly funny. Not just funny, hilarious. Facebook posts that read like a dating site for the bunnies and witty banter between the hero and heroine kept this read light and fun. But struggles dealing with the past added just the right amount of angst to make the story heartfelt and compelling. The only thing I didn’t care for was the constant and ridiculous amount of internal monologue about how hawt the other person was. Less Pecs, More Plot is my motto! But since the rest of the writing was so good, I was easily able to overlook this (in my opinion) shortcoming. Also, bonus points for the author’s notes at the end where she basically says “everything about the bunny rescue is fiction”, she made the whole thing up, “because fiction!” It was the most amusing author’s note I’ve ever read, and I just loved her honesty. I usually prefer a book to be as factual as possible, but I can totally respect an author who makes things up and owns it! This was my first Amy Andrews story, and I’d definitely be interested in reading more from her. You can never read too many books that make you laugh out loud! * thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing LLC - Entangled: Amara for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review |

Wow this book was just so good and so easy to get lost in. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I just didn't want it to end. I just couldn't get enough of these wonderful characters and I just loved getting to see their journey. I will most definitely be reading more stories from this wonderful author. |
For me the best slow-burn romance that I ever read. This is a good example that every page doesn't need to have most of the pages written about sex. Sweet, funny, furry love romance with a little bit of family drama and a lot of anticipation. Both Marshall and Gus are great characters easy to love. They make a beautiful couple and their chemistry is off the hook. I loved every written page and I enjoyed reading it. Great story, recommended. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley |

I loved The Kissing Contract!! Marshall and Gus were so cute together and I loved how they had to work together to find each bunny a new home. These two characters had this amazing chemistry and this story just flew by for this reader. This is my first book by Ms. Andrews but it won’t be my last because I adored this story. Such a fun, flirty and exciting romance. |
I loved this book. Marshall, Gus and the island of rabbits charmed me from beginning to end. The story was funny, sweet, melancholy, smart, sexy and filled with little bunnies. What more could you ask for? The only negative was that the author had me seriously yearning for a bunny of my own. (And I wouldn’t mind a guy like Marshall, too!) I would definitely have adopted Thumper if I could have. I’m hoping that Marshall’s brother will be getting his own story eventually. Definitely recommended. Note: This title was given to me by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. |
oh this book will give you the feels. Gus aka Augusta and Marshall did not meet in the best of ways. They actually met in court. Marshall owns his own Construction business and was going to bulldoze Hitchkins Island that his brother Jeremy and himself inherited from their grandfather. Problem is there are rabbits that are on the Island. The rabbits need to be removed before demolition can happen. Marshall doesn't see why he can't remove the rabbits. Things take a turn when the opposing council comes in and Marshall assumes the vet Gus is the attorney. Gus thinks Marshall is rude and doesn't care about the rabbits. After Marshal and Gus go back and forth the judge sees the sparks from them and decides to make them work together to remove the rabbits. The fun begins once Marshal and Gus both arrive early to the island. This book is so sweet and fun. You have a very manly guy who is so sweet and ends up being a closet bunny lover. Gus is smart and little awesome in her nerdy love for rabbits. This book is wrote in dual POV with some sexy scenes added in. I really enjoyed this book and hope Jeremy has a book. I received an advanced copy for an honest review. |
Good God did this get steamier than I was expecting. So, yes, that did mean I had to flip past a few pages, but as for the romance itself? Gorgeous, sweet and absolutely adorable. And how could it not be? When you're around bunnies - everything is adorable, no? From their first court-room encounter, to their time on the island, there has always been heat between Marshall and Augusta (Gus). Bonding over past experiences and scars and trying to wrangle 200 odd bunnies certainly strengthens their relationship I'd say. Overall, a lovely novel to curl up with, with some nice tea by your side. |

I am a HUGE fan of Amy Andrews. Her books are usually fun reads that are highly entertaining. The Kissing Contract, though, felt like it was lacking...something. The main characters Gus & Marshall were likable enough, and the minor characters--everyone from the Bunnyguards to the actual bunnies themselves--were fun to read about. But ultimately I think the premise was just a bit too far-fetched for me to really get into the book. It was still an enjoyable read--and certainly not enough to make me stray from my Amy Andrews loyalty--but I'm glad The Kissing Contract wasn't my introduction to Amy, or else she probably wouldn't be among my favorite "escape in a romance novel" authors. *ARC provided thru NetGalley, all opinions are my own* |

The Kissing Contract is such a cute romance. Great plot, setting and writing. Fans of romance novels will enjoy this book. Thanks to the publisher for my advance ebook. This is my unbiased review. |
It is my first read by Amy Andrews and I have to say I absolutely loved it. A bit of a slower burn than I usually prefer but this bunny story was pretty freaking hilarious. Gus and Marshall could've set that island on fire with all that chemistry! The afterword had me in stitches too. It absolutely slays me that people want to find reality in a romance novel and will complain about minutia, so I loved Amy's comments at the end of the book. Definitely looking forward to reading more! |
Great story! Ireceived an ARC from Netgalley for a honest review. Life make funny twist to your plans. When a threesome of bunnies run wild at a deserter island the only thing they could do is multiply. But this island have some memories Marshall want to erase and the beautiful sexy Vet don't let him. Gus qas a fierce defender of bunnies and she get a cout order for removed humanely the bunny from the island. The island grow in Gus and the bunny grow on Marshall. I enjoyed reading this book and recommend it. |
This sweet romance is funny, witty, and so entertaining. Just what you expect from an Amy Andrews book. There are also tug at your heart themes with the characters. A great summer read. |
