This was a new to me author and I'm on the fence on this one. It was a fun read... a good lighthearted novel even though Marshall does have a difficult childhood backstory. Both main characters are enjoyable, but the book didn't completely wow me. It has good moments, and their chemistry is palpable and well executed (I really enjoyed their scenes together) but some part of pace seemed off for me, especially at the end. It seemed like the author ran of steam at the end and a lot of the last part feels rushed, which is sad because I really wanted to read about them working out those issues. Not a bad book, but not a 5 star either. *I voluntarily received and reviewed an ARC copy from NetGalley under to obligation whatsoever" |

Augusta (Gus) is a veterinarian who works for a rabbit rescue organization. Her employer is suing a contractor in order to perform a large-scale rabbit rescue before his company begins work the private island where the rabbits are located. Marshall is a contractor who wants to begin dismantling structures on a private island that hold nothing but bad memories for him. But first he has to deal with a court order to capture and rehome what could be hundreds of rabbits. It’s just too bad that the veterinarian leading the operation drives him crazy in more ways than one. Can two people who begin on opposing sides of a court case and who both have a lot of emotional baggage work through their individual demons and find love? |

From the moment I started to read this book I couldn't stop. The storyline is wonderful. Characters are great. And bunnies, lots of bunnies. Augusta "Gus" and Marshall are awesome. Chemistry between them is amazing. This book is amazing and funny. |
The Kissing Contract was a sweet and cute read. I truly enjoyed the characters Marshall and Gus and the secondary characters. They had wonderful chemistry and a slow burn romance. It was a page turner. It was well written and a wonderful storyline. Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, llc for letting me read this story. I read and reviewed an Advanced Copy of this story. All thoughts and opinions are of my own |
An island full of bunnies doing what bunnies do. A nerdy girl. A cocky guy. All of this comes together for a great book! |
The banter and the "sexy times" did not fit what i thought this book was going to be like i mean come on she rescue's freakin "Bunnies" |
This was a such a cute read! Marshall and Gus just had amazing chemistry and slow burning romance. It was also had a lot of laugh out loud scenes that evened out the melancholy ones you got in the book. Can't wait to read more from Andrews! |
Whoever would have thought that a book involving bunnies running amuck would be so entertaining? But The Kissing Contract by Amy Andrews is unquestionably entertaining as well as fun, sassy and at times, downright hilarious. I have only read one of Ms Andrews books before this, but it is very obvious she is exceptionally skilled at writing humour, clever dialogue and creating a believable plot that brings it all together nicely. This is a fabulous read that combines, heartfelt and deeply emotional background issues, with wittiness and laughter. I can definitely recommend this book! |
Wonderfully original romance I was blown away by Amy Andrew’s The Kissing Contract. Marshall and Gus/Augusta though they first met as adversaries became an amazing couple. I loved their banter and their sexual chemistry was off the charts. Each had personal baggage they needed to deal with before they got to their HEA and watching them grow and heal was extremely satisfying. The concept of the bunnies was really clever and I would love to read a book about Marshall’s brother Jeremy. I received an advance reader copy via Netgalley. |

If you had told me that I would adore a book that revolved around relocating escaped bunnies, I would have been skeptical. But if you like humor and heat in your romances, you must read The Kissing Contract by Amy Andrews. This hilarious look at capturing pet bunnies on a deserted island is a hoot, and a perfect beach read. Marshall owns a construction company and can’t wait to tear up his late grandfather’s former island retreat. However, the American Bunny League—yes, it’s a thing—takes him to court, insisting they relocate the progeny of two escaped bunnies currently inhabiting the island. Veterinarian Gus develops the bunny census, and organizes the tracking and capturing of the 200+ rabbits. Marshall and Gus both realize there are sparks between them as they bicker back and forth over bunny details, but Gus is wary of all men after her last boyfriend cheated on her. Her solution? Write a contract that specifies that there will be no kissing during the month that they are on the island together. As they attempt to follow the contract to the letter, their steamy chemistry makes it apparent that they won’t succeed. When I was reading this book, people gave me weird looks since I kept laughing loudly. Marshall’s quips, a fantastic set of supporting characters, and even Gus’ fantastic bunny t-shirt collection all add up to a hilarious story I couldn’t put down. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. |

Marshall’s mother was disowned by her wealthy father when she fell in love with a man he deemed unacceptable, when she wouldn’t go along with his grandiose plans for her. His parents struggle financially and when both his parents die – his father when he is eight from an accident and his mother when he is fifteen, Marshall only has bitterness against his grandfather who spurned his own daughter the few times she was desperate enough to approach him for a loan. Being the older of 2 brothers, it is Marshall who shelters his younger brother Jeremy as much as he can & who, when his mother dies, drops out of school and starts working. When their grandfather dies and wills his wealth to Jeremy, the brother decides to turn an island their grandfather owns into a retreat for families. But when they find the island overrun by bunnies and get into a lawsuit by animal lovers who learn of their plans to remove the animals, Marshall finds himself ordered in court to assist the sexiest vet he has ever seen in humanely removing the animals. This was an amazing story. I totally fell in love with Marshall and Gus who are both amazing characters. Gus is drop dead gorgeous and is quite cynical about the fact that men are more focused on her chest rather than her brains or character. Hurting after a (she thought) serious relationship goes wrong when she catches her boyfriend cheating on her; Gus is swearing off men only to be seriously conflicted when she meets Marshall. All her hormones scream “yes!” but her head is super wary of being hurt again. Marshal is just a dream character. Strong, caring, he appreciates Gus for her intelligence (which he finds super sexy and attractive) and not just her looks. The characters are so wonderfully developed, the humour is intoxicating – loads of laugh out loud moments and the conversation is witty, cheeky and clever. Never clichéd or the type where you feel the author is trying to hard to be funny but falls flat. And smokin hot! The chemistry and connection between Gus and Marshall was enthralling. A definite keeper. Can’t recommend this book enough. |
Marshall Dyson and Augusta/Gus North meet when Marshall , a builder who is ready to work on an island project, is forced to go to court when Gus, a veterinarian representing the American Bunny League, is there to stop his project. The reason, there are over 200 bunnies on the island that need to be caught and given new homes. Needless to say that even though the chemistry is instantaneous, neither is happy with the other one. When the judge forces them to work together on the island, they decide to make a contract. No kissing or sex during the weeks they are working together. Aside from that storyline, it’s a story about family or lack thereof. Of how sometimes those who are suppose to love you, instead destroy you emotionally and sometimes the damage is felt for the rest of ones life. For me it was more of a 3.5 star story. At times it dragged and though I loved Marshall, Gus was just ok. I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Entangled Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own. |
This is the second book I've read by Amy Andrews, and I definitely want to read more of what she has to offer. This one is a little different than the last book, because that was a sports romance, but this one was a straight contemporary romance. I loved the plot of this one, two people that were at odds with each other trying to fight their attraction for each other. Man both of these two are BROKEN characters and my heart really broke for them. Mostly because I just wanted them to stop being dumb and give into temptation already! It was more on Gus' part, because she had been so hurt by her ex. I also really understood her issues with trusting men. As a big chested woman, girl I understand. Sometimes men don't really even look at you as a person, and it suuucks!!! It's why I liked Marshall as the hero so much, because he did see her as more than just her physical traits. Marshall has a lot of baggage, and my heart kind of broke for him. He had a very hard childhood, but he's pulled himself up by his bootstraps and has made a name for himself. I admire how hard-working he was, but also how he let Gus boss him around and take charge on the island. I did find their yes but then no, in terms of the intimate scenes to be a little frustrating. They had some minor scenes, but then Gus had to turn around and deny him. That made it SO frustrating to me. Never fear though, it's a romance book so there is a happy ending. |
Bunny rabbits. I love them. So too does Dr Augusta ‘Gus’ North, after all she’s the vet for the American Bunny League ‘ABL’. Marshall Dyson knows nothing about rabbits, except they’re preventing him from doing his job, all 200 of them, running wild around his island. When a judge decides that Marshall must reside on the island with Gus for one month whilst assisting the ABL in catching and removing the bunnies, well he got more than he bargained for. I loved Marshall, he was straight up, say it as it is, with a side of sexy. He was committed, caring, and the vision of him shirtless with a giant bunny on his chest will stay with me for a long time. Gus I found to be slightly annoying at times, and I think she lied to herself, why she denied her feelings was frustrating (yes maybe I was a little jealous, but stop blowing hot and cold girl). A slow burn that felt a little rushed towards the end. That said it all worked for me. I ate up every word. A wonderful story, well written with some fun supporting characters. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review. |
The Kissing Contract by Amy Andrews a five-star read that will make you hop. This one will have you daydreaming about lots of bunnies and counting them instead of sheep if you struggle to sleep, especially ones named Thumper and Rambo. Gus is great, she has a real fight to her and a sublime spark, the way she is wrote shows us so many facets of her personality, the professional side that she shows in court and then the compassionate and caring side when dealing with the animals, and I’m not just talking about the bunnies. Marshall is a man of many dilemmas, he wants rid of the island and when you get to know the history you understand why that is, but dilemmas are meant to dealt with and you can’t wait for him to get straight. This was a great story and one I have enjoyed from the first page to the last. |
2.5☆ What I liked: The writing style Most of the characters Dual POVs Part of a series: Wrong Side of the Tracks Standalone HEA Epilogue What I didn't like: Gus I look forward to reading the next book in this series. |

The story of Gus and Marshall. An entertaining read, with some great characters. Marshall wants to develop the island that used to belong to his grandfather, to destroy everything his grandfather built. But then they find out that someone released rabbits on to the island and these all need to be removed before work can start. The person to do this job is Gus. Despite the fact they don't get on to start with, there is an attraction between them, which leads to the kissing contract - nothing will happen between them before they leave the island, which will be weeks away. The more time they spend together while on the island, the closer they get, so what will happen when it is time to leave the island? Hoping that Marshall's brother gets his own book next! |

With such an outrageous premise, I wouldn't have touched this book if it hadn't been written by Amy Andrews. I know I can trust her intelligence and that she will not fall prey to the pitfalls of the genre. In the hands of a lesser writer, this romcom could have devolved into a ridiculous and preposterous farce. It doesn't take a genius to figure out how it will go, but it's how we get there that makes all the difference, and this is where Ms.Andrews' skills shine. THE KISSING CONTRACT is original and clever, and much of the first third is truly side-splitting. Trust Amy Andrews to write a charming, sexy, and sweet story based on wrangling bunnies! Even more surprising, where I'm concerned, is that the segments with the bunnies were wildly entertaining, and that they were essential in advancing the plot. The writing is effortless and smooth, as the author navigates calm seas and tempestuous waters with the same ease: snarky banter and emotional exchanges are equally compelling and genuine. Gus and Marshall are technically enemies, but in fact they get along well; the banter is lighthearted teasing rather than hurtful barbs. I also appreciated that their voices are as distinctive as their personalities, even if the book is written in third person POV. There were a few typos, which I hope will be caught before the final version is published, particularly this one: "Accept clearly not", which had me scratching my head for a moment; it should be "Except clearly not". THE KISSING CONTRACT is a slow burn, maybe a little too slow. With all the buildup, I felt the "big moment" was anticlimactic and not the romantic scene I expected. Gus' concerns were legitimate, Marshall needed to deal with his issues, and I was somewhat disappointed that this was handled mostly off-page. In the end, especially with regard to an element in the epilogue, I wasn't convinced that Marshall, as adorable as he was, was a sure thing for the long haul, judging from what I saw, not what I was told. |
Marshall Dyson wants to demolish the cabin on his grandfather’s island, but is thwarted by the American Bunny League (ABL). Apparently three non-fixed bunnies were put on the island six months ago, and now the island is overrun with rabbits. Dr. Augustus “Gus” North, represents the ABL and is ordered, along with Marshall to work together to humanely get the bunnies off the island in a month. Of course, both Marshall and Gus are insanely attracted to each other, but since Gus is still nursing wounds from her last relationship, she makes them both sign a napkin contract stating that there will be no kissing. As they work together, along with the Bunnyguard volunteers, the rabbit mojo seems to be affecting every one. Gus and Marshall find it more and more difficult to honor the contract. Both Gus and Marshall are very likable characters and I loved that, while they were instantly attracted to each other, it took time to develop an actual relationship. This is a nice, funny read and I hope that the author tell’s Marshall’s brother Jeremy’s story as well. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley for my honest review. |
