Wow, even better than the 1st book. I am a fan of this new brand of crazy and the friends that stand in face of it all.

Oh, yeah, this book was utterly fantastic! I just had to read it right away because I wasn't expecting to read this book. But I was so glad that I was approved, I just had to read and devour this book! It was just so freaking amazing!

There's two main things in this book. There's the search for the other baby of the teenage baby pact. And there's the discovery of the body at summer hangout of the elite. We're hit with twist after twist, and I enjoyed how it all came together so much!

We are introduced to some new characters in the form of the White Gloves group. I really enjoyed seeing our gang of friends in that dynamic, because they're not the alphas of the group, they're the newbies. And with all the drama going on, well, it came together so well!

Honestly, I think that we could have more books in this series. I mean, we learned so many scandals and secrets in this book. But there's this one niggling question that's probably unimportant unless we have more books in this series. Which I would absolutely love!

I loved reading this book so freaking much, it was a really fantastic read!

Twists, turns and even more secrets and scandals than book 1, which I didn’t think was possible. What an awesome sequel to a book that I thought would be a stand alone. Sawyer is one of my favorite female leads because she marches to the beat of her own drum and is smart enough to outwit all these Southern belles and go after what she wants. I’m a big fan of these books and hope there are more to come! Thanks Netgalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Just as juicy and secret filled as the first foray into Debutantes. I especially liked the jumping back in time addition. While the plot was a bit convoluted the book was extremely entertaining.

If you haven't read young adult novels by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, I don't know who you are? She takes mysteries and drama blends them together creating magic on paper. I love this series for it's soap opera feel with a mystery twist.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher, Hachette Book Group, for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I LOVED this book! It was a fantastic, fun, light-hearted read that was the perfect follow-up to Little White Lies. I loved the continued exploration of life as a Southern belle, and really appreciated the female friendships in the book. I did have some difficulty keeping all of the characters and their relationships straight, but that happened in the first one for me too so it might just be a problem I have. I don’t know if there will be a third, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

I liked this MUCH more than the first book. It told a more contained and complete story, which I appreciated. Like the first book, I thought the flashbacks to what was happening with the girls didn't work, but unlike the first book, this one had flashbacks to the past and they worked really well. I like secret society plots generally but thought this one was a little weak but I didn't mind because the mystery was bonkers and hilarious.

Sawyer now knows who her mystery father is and she's grappling with whether or not to confront him, share the secret, or just keep it to herself. Once they get to the lake for the summer, Sawyer, along with her new deb besties, Lily, Sadie-Grace, and Campbell get an invitation to join a secret society of elite girls called the White Gloves.

As the initiation challenges get more involved, Sawyer very quickly realizes her father and those closest to him are hiding some very dark secrets. What really happened at the lake twenty-five years ago? The plot is captivating as the reader comes across dead bodies, secrets, scandals, secret societies, and that plot twist-whew!

I can’t wait to share this book with my students! Fans of mysteries and suspense will for sure enjoy reading Deadly Little Scandals. I would definitely recommend that readers start with the first book.

Note: I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Jennifer Lynn Barnes never fails to please with her mysteries, and she has done it again with “Deadly Little Scandals”! While I was reluctant before reading “Little White Lies,” I had no such reservations about this book.

In terms of plot, I felt like this book did a little better than “Lies” at holding the reader’s interest. Between the Lady of the Lake and the White Gloves and the affair and the location/real identity of Ana’s baby, there was truly never a dull moment. Sure, it’s a very complex plot, but Barnes does a good job of subtly reminding readers of the backstory, who the characters are all and how they’re related, etc. so that it’s not really a struggle to keep everything straight.

And the mystery…! I SURE didn’t see that coming. To be honest, the whole situation with the "potential murderer" seemed a bit of a stretch to me, but Barnes did such a good job of planting facts and ideas early on, and even back in Book 1, that it was a plausible outcome. But, that little bit of “Are you serious?” is what knocked this book from a 5 to a 4 for me.

The characters, though… I. Love. These. Characters! Each one is just so nuanced and unique; they all have their own quirks, voices, and habits, so they feel very real and believable. I think the thing I appreciated the most about this book, though, was that it wasn’t a one-trick-pony. Barnes writes great mysteries, and this is no exception, but along with the plot development, the main characters were developing, too. The personal and emotional struggles the characters were going through were as developed and real and integral to the story as the mystery was. They are just WONDERFUL!

Overall, this was an outstanding read that I can’t wait to share with my students! It has a little bit of everything: humor, grief, guilt, mystery, romance, affairs, revenge, spoiled rich people, messed up families, good girls, bad boys (and maybe even some good boys and bad girls!). AND, in signature Barnes style, several surprise twists that I did NOT see coming! Just an all-around good read!

The Debutantes series is an enjoyable read for anyone who loves mystery. Sawyer has always been out of her element in high society starting all he way back in the first book when she discovers that she comes from a very wealthy family. All she wanted to do when discovering this family, is to see if she could determine who fathered her. In this installment, Sawyer has gotten really good at digging and uncovering secrets - her own and everyone else’s. But this time it might land her in some trouble that she can’t get out of without giving up her own life. Back in the debutante world, Sawyer has many secrets to keep while finding out some tragic and harmful ones of her own.

The first in the series was great, and this one was just plain fun. It's mind candy, it's not going to change your life, but you'll love this series anyway. That is, if you're game for pregnancy pacts, illegitimate children, a little bit of romance, and a little bit of murder. I can't wait to see what these girls do next--I hope there is a next for them!

This second of a duology(?) is even more explosive than the first! Ms Barnes is fantastic with secrets kept and revealed, and Sawyer's family has more than their fair share. The first book in the series seemed tighter and had better character reveal, but this one was fun for its wild ride of seemingly endless over-the-top high society scandals. That along with the humor that is a hallmark of Ms Barnes's books, and this will be a must read for any fan!

I really enjoyed the first book and all of its twists. This one takes plot twists to a new level and then multiplies it by ten. It’s fun, scandalous, and over the top dramatic. The fast paced curveballs never end as the debutantes spend their summer at the lake and rush a secret society, uncover literal and figurative skeletons, and fall in and out of relationships. Another great read from Barnes.

The second book in the Debutantes series continues the mystery of Sawyer's parentage as she tries to keep the truth away from her best friend - who also happens to be her sister - in the midst of a summer at the lake. As Sawyer, Lily, Campbell and Sadie-Grace are being pursued by a mysterious society known as the White Gloves, each girl will have to face challenges in order to win the approval of their sponsor. Sawyer is, of course, more interested in learning about the other pregnancy pact baby, a mystery pursuit which can only aided by the White Gloves and the presence of the niece of her mother's missing friend. If it sounds complex, it's because it is - please read the first book before proceeding.

I love Barnes' combination of teen ingenuity with a good mystery plot. Sawyer continues to delight and her friends - even in their most dramatic instances - are still fun and believable. I don't think I have ever read a book by Barnes that I didn't enjoy thoroughly.

Perfect for fans of Ally Carter.

I received this book as an ARC in return for an honest review.

Sawyer has just learned more about her biological father in her first year as a debutante, and as she's wrestling with whether or not to tell her secret, she gets an invitation to a secret society of elite girls called the White Gloves. She soon she realizes there are even darker secrets behind her father and those closest to him.

I loved the ending of the book and the feeling of completion, especially in terms of Sawyer. I did think there was a little too many twists in terms of lineages, and it felt a little like it was moving into the realm of improbability. All in all, the Debutantes books could be recommended to those who love Pretry Little Liars.

Sawyer found out who her father is. But the solution leaves more questions than answers, and even rifts. She decides to give her high society family a chance. When Sawyer’s cousin convincers her to and try for the White Gloves, a secret female society, the truth about disappearance of her mother’s friend begin to surface. What really happened twenty-five years ago? Dead bodies, scandals, secrets, secret societies, and more abound in this book. The plot is enthralling. The characters are fascinating. Fans of mysteries and suspense will enjoy reading this book. It is recommended that readers start with the first book.
