Not only was this a twisty thriller but I found it full of emotions. The author really has a gift for making the words on a page come to life with such FEELING.
This is a story with so many twists and lots of heart

Creepy and suspenseful -- I definitely kept turning the pages to find out what happened in the end -- but the characters fell a little flat.

This book had a decent story line, however, I think that there wasn't enough to make me want more. It fell a little flat to be honest. I have a hard time DNF books, so I pushed my way through. I think I would of enjoyed more drama, twists and turns in the book. It wasn't a bad book, just not great one.

What a thriller.

I flew through the pages of this one. Unbelievable. Such an exciting thriller that I will not forget. One to keep you up at night … I highly recommend this amazing book. Read it!

Kelly is taking her two children to school, their first day so understandably she is pre occupied and anxious. She turns her back for a second and her baby Noah and his pram are missing. After a frantic search he is safely found in another room. But that isn't all that is found.

A complex story that will keep you gripped. This was my first from the author but it certainly won't be my last. It's taken me far too long to write this review and I should have got to it sooner.

I received an advance digital copy of this book from the author, publisher and Netgalley.com. Thanks to all for the opportunity to read and review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Ms. Clarke's newest book is dark, twisting and a entertaining page turner. Written with a film noir feel and pulse, you feel every plot turn.

4 out of 5 stars. A very good read.

This is the first book I have read by Wendy Clarke. We were sisters I found a little too drawn out, The characters were too unbelievable, and the subject matter a little sensitive in place. Nonetheless, a good read with plenty of twists and turns.

This books is a thriller full of suspense, self-doubt, and mystery. I had trouble relating to any of the characters, or even connecting with them, especially Kelly. She struggles with OCD and with being haunted by her past. She is a stay at home mother of 5 year old twins and an infant son, who in the beginning was seemingly missing briefly and then found with a locket in his stroller that belonged to her sister Freya.
The novel is told in both present and past, which I generally like, but felt a bit disjointed and manic at times during the book. I figured out the twist early which made the ending fall flat for me.
Thanks to Wendy Clarke, Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

Better in the beginning than the latter part, but I still enjoyed it and will read more from this author. Thanks Netgalley for this arc.

The cover of this one sucked me in and then from the first word, I was a goner. Loved this dark mystery. It was great! Highly recommend!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Wendy Clarke, my first from the author but definitely not the last.

It kept my attention throughout and I read it quickly in one sitting. I loved the elements of mystery, drama and family tension and see how carefully Wendy Clarke wove the inclusion of mental illness. The ending was thrilling, just what you need for a book of this genre.

I usually like to read between the lines and try and figure it all out way in advance but I couldn't this time, it really stumped me, I enjoyed that about this book, Wendy Clarke has been very clever.

With interesting characters, a great storyline and some great drama this is a book I would definitely recommend.

This novel started off with real promise. Wendy Clarke managed to reel me in and keep me hooked. We are introduced to Kelly as she's taking her twin daughters to their first day of school. Leaving her son in his pram outside she takes her daughters in to the school and when she returns the pram is gone! After a short search it is found outside another classroom, but tucked inside is a locket, one Kelly hasn't seen for 15 years - it belongs to her dead sister Freya! From then on there are many twists and turns leading us up to the final conclusion, but unfortunately I saw every twist coming. Not a single one of them had be gasping in shock which was really disappointing as the writing was great and the characters well-developed. I was also disappointed with the ending too because despite not being surprised by any of the twists throughout Wendy Clarke still managed to keep me interested and wanting to read. I can tell she is a good writer but I just wasn't keen on the storyline.

Kelly is taking her twin daughters to their first day at school but as she ushers them into the classroom she turns her back on the pram with her baby boy Noah inside and when she turns back the pram and Noah are gone but thankfully after a frantic search he is found outside another classroom and as Kelly leans in to comfort him her hand touches a metal object inside his pram .... it couldn’t be .????? But it is .... it’s the locket belonging to her dead sister Freya who died fifteen years previously and Kelly hasn’t laid eyes on it since the day Freya died. Then Kelly’s well ordered life starts to fall apart as the past comes calling!
A compelling addictive read that will keep you hooked until the very end !!!!

Thank you to NetGalley Bookouture and Wendy Clarke for the arc of We Were Sisters my review is honest and unbiased.

DNF

This personally was a very hard read for me. I struggled with the chapters that were from Kelly's past as I could relate to them in a negative way. For that reason this was a huge challenge to get through what I managed but because of the issues it brought up for me, I needed to stop reading. I really wanted to push through with this but if I did I know that would have been too much for me to cope with and I'm learning that I need to put my mental health first. Which is a struggle and I do deeply apologise to the author and publishing company for not being able to finish this.

From what I did read, which was roughly half of the book, the story was interesting and I felt that it flowed rather well. The author knows how to write.

One day I'll come back to this when I'm more stable in the far future and give it a proper review. Again I apologise.

Wow, ok ! Definitely not what I expected, in a disappointing way though.

The first half of the book was pretty thrilling. The story kept switching 'Kelly Before' and 'Kelly After' taking us through her childhood and currently her on the rocks marriage. We have a sweet and by-the-book Kelly in her childhood, who's mother keeps fostering children with the hope to have a perfect child who can please her husband, all the time ignoring Kelly. Enter Freya, a troubled child, with a turbulent past. Kelly and Freya share an immature, volatile relation that ends in breaking ties.

Move to the current day, Kelly thinks someone is stalking her and the guilt of wronging her foster sister makes her all the more panicky. She is constantly worried that someone is targetting her kids, she is worried if her husband is being loyal to her and she is just tired of her life in general.

Who is playing cat and mouse? Are her children safe ? What are the secrets that her parents kept from her?

My comments: This plot had so much potential of being a psychological thriller. There were so many factors that could have caused a twist in the story. Her husband's past, his friend getting closer, the kid's teacher, her mother... So many things ! But in the end, it was all just a misunderstanding! Can you believe that ??! After all the hype about the evil foster sister, the ending really let me down. I would have loved a little more psycho in this thriller. It ended way too good for the potential it had. With all the clues, I wish the plot was more sinister.

I couldn't finish the book. It had a great storyline and all, but it just wasn't a book for me.
It started out slow for me, and it was really drawn out. The secrets that were revealed were not a surprise at all.

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this book, while I give my honest review.

An absolutely gripping first half of a novel, well plotted and well written, but unfortunately seems to lose its way and doesn’t keep the pace up.

Still a good read, but not unputdownable.

We were sisters started really well but I'm not quite sure what happened half way through as it seemed to have lost its way.

This book started really well and I was enjoying reading it. However, as the story progressed It lost its “oomph”and the ending was a complete letdown. It was a such a shame because it had all the potential to be very good.
Thank you Wendy Clarke, Bookouture and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
