All her life, it’s been only Holly and her sister Tiffany, with a mother who was, at best, inadequate. But when Tiffany dies, Holly is truly alone, except for her tiny niece, Penny, who Tiffany entrusted into Molly’s care. Fulfilling Tiffany's last wishes, Holly goes to the small beach community of Safe Haven to find Cash O'Dwyer and introduce him to his daughter. For as little as Holly knows about being part of a family, Cash believes he's a carbon copy of his worthless father and thinks he has no business trying to be a husband or father. But since meeting and falling in love with his year-old daughter, Cash wants to try and be the father Penny needs.

This is one of those books that leaves me with conflicting emotions. I adore these characters and love their heartwarming, emotional journey, but Cash's story means the end of my visits to the warm, welcoming community of Safe Haven. This is one of those series I wish could go on forever because the characters have secured a permanent place in my heart, from the O'Dwyer brothers and their ladies to the crotchety menswear shop owner who loves his dog but isn’t too fond of people.

Holly and Cash both have some baggage, and even in the best of circumstances they have some things to work through. Their road to forever is fraught with bumps and dips and curves, along with that element of suspense that this author does so well. But they're both so endearing and authentically human that they won me over from the start and I was cheering for them from beginning to end. These are characters that stay with the reader long after the last page, and their heartfelt, evocative, feel-good story is one you absolutely don't want to miss!
