Once again I have jumped into a series on book #3. Now I did enjoy this story with no issues, but I missed a huge backstory that I need to go back and read. This is the third book in the Safe Haven series, about the O’Dwyer family. This story is about Cash, an extremely well off family member and confirmed bachelor. When Holly Gibson shows up in Safe Haven with a baby in tow, Cash assumes that she is going to say he is the father of her child. Well, he is the father, but it is not her child, it is her recently deceased sister's child, who Cash remembers having a fling with. Cash wants to do what is right, and finds himself falling in love with little Penny.

I really enjoyed this story. Holly is an independent woman who wants nothing from Cash except support for Penny and for him to be involved in his daughter's life. She finds a place to live and gets herself a job as a dog walker. She brings Penny everywhere she goes and is quite pleased with herself. Cash does not want her to work. He is willing to give her money to support both of them so she will be home with Penny being a "stay at home mother". I enjoyed the dialogue between these two fiery personalities. Cash is a pushover where Penny is concerned, but still not sure what he wants out of life. When a secret is exposed and Penny is in danger, can Cash and Holly work together to save her. Will they realize that they have feelings for each other. A sweet, uplifting story where the spirit of Christmas shines through. Tanya Eby narrated this audiobook and as always, I enjoyed her narration. She has a sweet voice and does a good job giving Holly a voice. Her male voices were pretty well done and I enjoyed her expression and tone. Overall a very pleasant story and one I recommend to those who enjoy a sweet, uplifting Christmas

MY THOUGHTS  ON THIS BOOK

I really enjoyed this Christmas story. This is my first book from this author but it can easily be read as a stand alone. It’s not the everyday rich guy poor girl story but it goes a step above that. Having someone accuse him of being their childs father is not new to Cash. It’s happened before so he’s not buying it this time either. But what will the DNA show?

With characters as different as night and day, this book will have you turning its pages until you get to the end. I love Holly and her niece Penny. Holly’s sweet personality drew me in from the beginning, and Penny won me over immediately. She is so very adorable. Theres a lot going on here in the story, twists and turns that have you wondering. But Ms. McClain does an amazing job of weaving everything together for a beautiful ending. And ending I very much loved! I highly recommend this Christmas story for anyone looking for a sweet read during the Holiday Season.

A copy of this book was given to me by the author or publisher. I am not required to write a positive review. The opinions here in this review are totally mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

I loved this book! A sweet story of two individuals hesitant to love, but thrown together that left me cheering for them to work things out. This was a light read that was a nice addition to the holiday season. My only regret is that I didn't realize it was the third book of the series. I would recommend this book and the other two as well, even though I haven't read them, because McClain's style was easy to follow with a well-developed plot and believable characters.

Three stars: A good women’s fiction story, but a few holiday mentions doesn’t make it a Christmas book.

Holly isn’t sure what to expect from Cash O’Dwyer, but she needs his help. Holly is now the caretaker for her young niece after her sister unexpectedly died. The father is presumably Cash O’Dwyer, a wealth bachelor. Cash is polite upon first meeting and then taken aback when Holly tells him he is the father. Cash is certain this is just another young woman trying go trap him. He doesn’t have time to be a father. Yet, Penny is adorable and he soon finds himself drawn to the child. Will he have a change of heart?
What I Liked:
*Low Country Christmas is a book I picked up wanting a nice, cheerful holiday read. While this book fails as a Christmas book, it presents a solid women’s fiction story with a touch of romance.
*I wasn’t sure about Cash the first couple fo meetings. He is a wealthy bachelor who has his choice of women. I thought he was going to be selfish and uptight, but luckily he is more than meets the eye. As his tough exterior peels away, there is a damaged man underneath, one who survived terrible trauma as a child. Cash in reality is kind, caring and generous. Once he realizes the truth about Penny, he immediately steps up and does the right thing.
*Holly was also hard to pin down upon first meeting. She too has plenty of issues and a troubled past. She is fierce, protective and often snippy. When she lets her guard down, she is kind and sweet. I had to admire her willingness to take care of her niece under tough circumstances.
This is the third in a series. I didn’t have trouble finding my footing, the author provides plenty of background/ catch up information that helped me figure out what occurred in the previous books.
*The secondary cast of characters is strong and they play an important part in the book. I enjoyed getting to know Cash’s brothers, their stories are featured in the other two books. Both Sean and Liam already found their partners and have adorable families. I loved how the brothers were always there to lean on and support one another. Cash’s mother, Rita, is the character who my heart went out to the most. She is a recovering victim of domestic violence, suffering from amnesia. She has been through hell and back, yet she keeps going and offers love and kindness to those in need. I was happy that she found some peace and happiness.
*The romance is slow and steady. It starts out rocky, but over time it moves to a hesitant trust and a friendship is born, and then it takes a few more steps onto the path of love, and then falters before finding strong footing again. I liked that it took it’s time and that both characters explored their issues and dealt with them before committing. This isn’t a scorching romance by any means, it is a slow burn.
*After some dramatic upheaval, the book ends down the road with a happy event. I was delighted to see the way everything worked out for everyone and pleased with the results.
And The Not So Much:
*My big gripe with this one is that it is another book that is not really a Christmas book, but it got a Christmas title slapped onto and a few holiday mentions and all of a sudden it’s a Christmas book. First, this is not a warm, cozy read. There are a lot of serious situations and some tough stuff such as domestic violence and abuse, drug abuse and overdose, health problems and kidnapping and ransom. So if you are wanting a a light, happy read, this isn’t it. This really isn’t a Christmas book at all. There are a few mentions of trimming trees and decorating but that’s it. It was a big disappointment as far as holiday reads. I wouldn’t even classify this as a holiday book so don’t let the misleading title fool you. I wanted light and fluffy and I didn’t get that.
*There was a lot of negativity in this book. I especially didn’t like the situation with Cash’s real father. He is a nasty piece of work. Then his actions at the end were a little over the top and far fetched. I could have done with that whole plot. It really put a negative angle on the book.
*I was disappointed in Rita when it came to Jimmy. Jimmy behaves poorly when Rita gets a dog. I thought she should have kicked him to the curb. The last thing she needed was another man trying to control her. Ugh!
*The romance was plenty but the big ugly stumbles were a bit much.

Low Country Christmas is a book that masquerades as a Christmas book, but this isn’t a holiday, feel good book. This is more of a women’s fiction story. I was disappointed that this book lacked the feel, good holiday warmth I was wanting when I picked up this title. This book deals with a lot of serious stuff from domestic violence, drug addiction and more. If you want a happy book with lots of Christmas cheer, this one does not fit the bill. If you want an interesting story with a romance, try it.

Unfortunately this book didn’t engage me as much as I hoped. This is probably for a few reasons. Holly arrives in Safe Haven, with her late sister’s daughter. She is seeking out Cash, the father of this child, from a weeklong fling her sister had with him. This was such a strange basis for a relationship between the two of them that I never fully connected with the characters. I’m also not entirely sure I’d categorize this one as a romance, and that is what I went in expecting. This one seemed more like women’s fiction, with a little romance and and a suspense element. And it was pretty light on Christmas, at least for my liking. For these reasons I gave Low Country Christmas two stars!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Holly and Cash have no reason to know each other but they have one thing in common, a baby. After Cash had a short affair with Holly’s sister, a baby was left in the mix. Holly had her sister’s wishes to follow and she had no interest is falling in love. She was surprised more than anyone to realize that she loved Cash and he loved her. This was a wonderful story of settling down and finding the one thing you didn’t realize you wanted or needed.

Low Country Christmas by Lee Tobin McClain is the third book in the Safe Haven series. The novels are about the O’Dwyer Brothers. The novels are written around the O’Dwyer brothers and their finding their loves. There is also another storyline about how the brothers finally meet their mother, who was taken from them when the are young.

Cash O’Dwyer is the last of the unattached brothers. He feels he is not capable of relationships like his brothers. Holly Gibson is raising her niece quite unexpectedly. She is searching for help from her niece’s biological father, but Cash does not know about his daughter. Holly has learned not to rely on anyone and Cash is constantly trying to understand Holly’s stubbornness about her need for work.

This story takes place around the holidays and the spirit of the holidays is part of the charm of the book. I enjoyed reading this novel about Cash and Holly, despite their lack of communication about their feelings and desires. Low Country Christmas by Lee Tobin McClain was a good read.

Holly has custody of her late sister's daughter, Penny. At her sister's request, Holly heads to Safe Haven where the baby's dad lives part time. Cash is a multi-millionaire playboy who has never wanted to settle down. When Holly tells him the baby is his, he thinks that she is just after money, after all this has happened to him before. However a DNA test proves that Penny is in fact his daughter.

The rest of the book we see the co-parenting relationship that develops between Holly and Cash as they deal with the developmental problems that Penny has. Holly has always been on her own, so she has to learn to trust people, Cash has never thought he'd be good at relationships due to the poor example his father set. It was interesting and at times frustrating to see their relationship progress over the course of the book.

It was an enjoyable book and I'd read another by this author in the future.

Holly arrives in Safe Haven with her niece Penny to find Penny's father. Her sister died and now Holly is Penny's guardian. Cash takes the paternity test and discovers it's certain he's the father. Now he wants Holly and Penny to stay in in town and become family. A few secrets from the past could derail the who Christmas romance. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

At first glance Cash O'Dwyer seems to have everything. He has plenty of things and a great relationship with his brothers and their families. That has always been good enough until the day he finds out he has a daughter. That's a game changer he hadn't expected. What will he do now that life has thrown a curve ball? This is a story about figuring out what's important and why. As in the previous novels in the series there's a little romance, a little drama and a warm cozy ending. Although this book can stand along I'm glad I read all three in order because there are a few secondary plot points that continue throughout the series.

I enjoyed this book. It was a sweet, heartwarming, tender afternoon read. Cash and Holly are both people that carry a lot of baggage. They both prefer to live independently, and it was a learning curve for them both to open up their hearts to love. All in all, this was a pleasant holiday story.

Holly made her way to safe haven to find the father of her niece. This isn't the first time someone has claimed that he fathered a child only for it to turn out false and his history has made Cash wry of her claims. But after finding out there is truth to it he wants to be in his child's life. Holly is independent and refuses help but child support can help the baby. This christmas holiday is about to get plenty complicated.

Finally come across a book with some christmasy things going on! I really enjoyed this book. I loved how welcoming Cash and his family was. I thought it was interesting getting to know these characters and how different they were and how it impacted their lives as the adults that they are. Holly is fiercely protective and independent and finds it hard to accept help from other even when things are taking its tolls. It was interesting seeing how everyone slowly got Holly to open up a bit and seeing her building relationships with those around her. Then there is that slow simmer of attraction between Holly and Cash and even if that happening I love and appreciate how this book manage to keep it clean. Overall this was a pretty great contemporary book I really enjoyed it.

McClain has written a beautiful Christmas love story about Holly Gibson searching for the father of her young niece left in her care after her sister’s death. She never expected to meet Cash, her niece’s father, or to find him so perfect for her.

Cash is shocked to find he has a young daughter, Penny, and even more shocked to find her Aunt so appealing.

Will scars from the past ruin their chance at happiness?

One thing is for sure, the town of Safe Haven is the perfect setting with a perfectly relatable cast for Holly, Penny and Cash all to find happiness.

I received this ARC copy of Low Country Christmas from HARLEQUIN - Romance (U.S. & Canada) - HQN. This is my honest and voluntary review.

I give this book 5 stars for a wonderful story!
Lee is an excellent author that can write a good story and can keep her readers engaged from beginning to end. I love that about her.
The plot of the story is wonderful too!
Christmas is my favorite time of the holiday!
I think what I love most about this book is how she can bring a character to Safe Haven out of the blue.
Holly is an interesting person. I just fell in love with her at the beginning of the story. Her strong, bubbly, personality is a wonderful trait to have while Natalie is the quiet, reserved type that wants to be cautious.
Rita has an interesting background as well.
We know Holly came to Safe Haven for a reason but I won't say cause I don't want to give it away!
Chase is pretty good too. If he were a real person he can be my protector at all times as far as I'm concerned.
He continued to impress me throughout the whole book. Chase has become my favorite of the 3 brothers.
I really recommend this book. Christmas can't come fast enough lol!
Lee once again thank you for a wonderful book and I hope that you will write another book about this sweet town called Safe Haven
My thanks to Netgalley. NO compensations were received. All opinions are my own.

A new author for me and I loved the story of Holly and Cash! After a rough childhood, Cash doesn't envision a happy ever after as father and husband, even though his two brothers have it all. As a millionaire he has a jaded look at women and narriage, it seems all that attracts them is his money.

Holly is different and she works hard to be independent. She just wants to ensure her niece Penny has contact and builds a relationship with her dad, who turns out to be Cash. The relationship develops and they both learn communication, trust, and friendship firm the best foundation for a chance at a lifetime of live.

Now I bought books 1 and 2 in the Safe Haven series I liked it so much!

I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher for my honest opinions.

All her life, it’s been only Holly and her sister Tiffany, with a mother who was, at best, inadequate. But when Tiffany dies, Holly is truly alone, except for her tiny niece, Penny, who Tiffany entrusted into Molly’s care. Fulfilling Tiffany's last wishes, Holly goes to the small beach community of Safe Haven to find Cash O'Dwyer and introduce him to his daughter. For as little as Holly knows about being part of a family, Cash believes he's a carbon copy of his worthless father and thinks he has no business trying to be a husband or father. But since meeting and falling in love with his year-old daughter, Cash wants to try and be the father Penny needs.

This is one of those books that leaves me with conflicting emotions. I adore these characters and love their heartwarming, emotional journey, but Cash's story means the end of my visits to the warm, welcoming community of Safe Haven. This is one of those series I wish could go on forever because the characters have secured a permanent place in my heart, from the O'Dwyer brothers and their ladies to the crotchety menswear shop owner who loves his dog but isn’t too fond of people.

Holly and Cash both have some baggage, and even in the best of circumstances they have some things to work through. Their road to forever is fraught with bumps and dips and curves, along with that element of suspense that this author does so well. But they're both so endearing and authentically human that they won me over from the start and I was cheering for them from beginning to end. These are characters that stay with the reader long after the last page, and their heartfelt, evocative, feel-good story is one you absolutely don't want to miss!

*I read an early edition of this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide feedback and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source.
