I wasn't really able to connect with this title. I wanted to, but I didn't totally believe in the chemistry or their attraction.

As always, I appreciate the opportunity to read and review this title.

I love stories involving a single dad! This was such a cute read! I enjoyed the book from start to finish and would like to read more from Ms. Price.

I got through this one, but I’m not exactly sure how.

Amelia has taken a job as a nanny for NFL quarterback, Brody. He isn’t happy to discover his sister hired someone to take care of his four year old daughter, Lily.

As Brody and Amelia spend time together, living in the same house and taking care of Lily, they decide to give into their mutual attraction.

But Brody is determined not to let anyone close to his heart again, and Amelia isn’t sure she should put her career aspirations on hold for someone who has vowed to never love again. Of course, after bouts of jealousy, miscommunication, assumptions, and making decisions based on “what’s best” for the other person - without actually talking to them - they pull their heads out of their butts to find a happy-ever-after.

For years my motto has been “Less Pecs, More Plot” - and this book did not fare well in that respect. I once read that the difference between a romance and erotica is that if you took all the sex out of the book, you’d still have a romance story. If you take it out of an erotica story, you’re left with a couple chapters…and that’s almost how I feel about this book. That’s definitely how it was shaping up with the first several chapters, with the hero and heroine’s internal thoughts almost exclusively about how turned on they were by the other.

And it was disappointing because I really liked the other Melynda Price book I read (Vow of Silence), although it was romantic suspense. Instead of giving us a plot in The Nanny Rules, we got a story rife with cliched writing and tired, typical storylines. And too much talk about pecs, and...other body parts. The author tried to pull in some character development, with Brody’s dead wife and their relationship issues and Amelia’s sad family situation, but it was too little, too late to save this book for me. I can't believe this book was written by the same author.

The only thing I did like about this story is the absence of intsa-love. This couple didn’t fall into bed immediately. There was some actual relationship development before things got physical. But then again, even though chronologically there was time before the physical relationship began, I don’t think I would say it was developed for us as readers. There were a lot of time skips - which you have to do if your story takes place over six months and you’re not writing a 500 page book. But nothing felt like it was developed adequately.

It’s always disappointing when an author you’ve previously read - and liked - writes something you dislike so much. I’ll give Ms. Price another read. But maybe I’ll stay away from her sports romances...

2.5+ “Not what I was expecting” Stars

Having read and enjoyed some of Ms. Price’s MMA fighters books, I was more than delighted when I had the chance to snag an ARC copy of The Nanny Rules. I mean, a professional football player/single dad who falls for the live-in nanny? It was like this was meant to be!

Amelia was sweet and caring and could have some funny moments. I just couldn’t understand most of her decisions regarding her past and withholding that information, which led to me wanting to slap some sense into her many, many times.

Brody was mostly dreamy, but my favorite part in this type of story is the Daddy-daughter bond and since huge chunks of time would be skipped over, I didn’t really get to witness this. Also, he had a tendency to overreact that was not attractive, like, at all.

Unfortunately, I wanted to like the book more than I actually did. My main issue was that there was a lot of telling instead of showing, especially in the beginning. This made it difficult for me to really connect with the characters and make me feel their chemistry. Also, most of the obstacles they had to overcome felt completely forced (view spoiler)

The Nanny Rules was overall a sweet romance with a great premise but it was more of a miss then for me. I did enjoy some parts of it and I can’t say I didn’t like it in a general way, I was just expecting it to totally wow me.

I do love a good nanny trope. Brody is surprised to find that his sister has hired him a nanny, and of course she looks like a model. Amelia (Mia) needs a job to recoup some of the money she spent helping her brother's addiction. But Brody has been burned before. His wife passed away in a car accident with a teammate of his, revealing her infidelity. Can he open his heart to let Mia in?

I just really enjoyed this read. It was hotter than sin in some parts, but also immensely sweet and got right to my heart. And every scene with Lily, Brody's 4 year old daughter, was too cute for words.

A really fun read with a lot of heart.

4 stars

The Nanny Rules by Melynda Price is a sweet and entertaining romance.
I enjoyed the storyline, it's well paced and I enjoyed watching the relationship unfold between Brody and Mia.
They are likable characters who find love when they least expect it.

Overall, The Nanny Rules is a sweet read and perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

The Nanny Rules is about Amelia the Nanny and her hot widower quarterback boss Brody.

There was a lot of chemistry right from the start and more sex than actual “get to know” talk. The dual point of view helped see what Amelia and Brody where thinking/going through, but had less conversations between them.

I still enjoyed this quick read.

Wow! This is my first book by Melynda Price and will not be my last. The dynamic between Amelia and Brody was phenomenal. The feelings they shared and hid from one another were so intense. There were a couple of times when Brody frustrated me with his back and forth, but I could totally understand his reasonings...most of the time. He had a lot of hurt and anger to deal with along with raising his daughter and playing focused in his games. As the story went on, I truly loved Amelia more. Her relationship with Lily was so heartwarming. There were lots of times when Lily would steal the scenes. She was adorable and my heart strings were pulled with her little heartaches. I loved the ending and that Brody and Amelia were able to clear up all misunderstandings.

The Nanny Rules was a quick and enjoyable read, but could have used a little more relationship growth between our main characters instead of just a whole lot of sexy time. I always enjoy a dual POV in my romance novels and this delivers on that front. The football player romantic interest is always a trope I enjoy. The nanny, Amelia, is sweet and kind while Brody, the football player, is interesting and complex. Overall, The Nanny Rules is a fun steamy romance novel with lovable characters that are a tad underdeveloped. Not a bad choice for a poolside read.

This was a good, easy, erotic, romantice read; perfect for a day at the beach, but nothing spectacular. The plot was almost nonexistent, other than the two main characters having the hots for one another.

Brody is a cold and distant person, pretty much with everyone (except for Lilly), and seems to be especially standoffish with Amelia. Okay, so he is supposedly trying to refrain from getting close to her, but he doesn't end up trying very hard. Although, granted, she isn't the typical nanny. Besides her advanced education, and not being as young as one would expect, and she also happens to be a friend of Brody's sister, which basically puts her in a whole other relationship category.

Amelia is a total anomaly. She supposedly has a Masters in Child Psychology, but she mostly acts like a child herself, or at least a petulant teenager. And here she is with an advanced degree, but working as a nanny? I mean, I know she was supposedly waiting for the right permanent job to come along, but this is nearly as bad as her flipping burgers. She claims to be able and willing to take whatever Brody has to offer, even if it is just sex, but she pretty much instantly falls in love with him, and then starts making demands that obviously put a strain on their relationship.

Basically, the two created most of the drama between themselves by not being honest with one another. Honestly, it's mostly just annoying and also somewhat tiring. "Emotional whiplash" is mentioned in the book, and there is definitely a lot of that, with how the two push and pull, fighting their relationship and each other, pretty much at every turn.

The story-telling itself is fairly decent and at least mildly entertaining. There is way too much reference to how Brody and Amelia are physically attracted to one another, from hard-ons to excessively pebbled nipples. It was just a bit much at times; okay, most of the time. There's also an over abundance of telling, rather than showing, that occurs in the narrative; along with a lot of topics or situations that are just dropped and never surface again or not until much later. And there was definitely a lot of happy sappy feel-good prose that was just not in keeping with the tone of most of the rest of the tale.

Despite all the things that bugged me, it was still a nice, light story. The main characters were mostly sympathetic, some of the side characters were rather interesting and quite enjoyable. And the sex scenes were definitely hot. As long as your expectations aren't too high, it is good for a quick, fun read!

The Nanny Rules was my first book by Melynda Price. I really loved it. The story was amazing and the writing so good. I loved Brody and Amelia. Can't wait to read more by this author!

This book isn't going to give you any big surprising, kick against the trope twists.  But what it will give you is an enjoyable, feel good story.  Yes, there's drama, obviously, but it all plays out wonderfully well.

I enjoyed this one, though it did take me a it of time to really get into it. For the first quarter of the book I felt as though there wasn’t a lot of character building. We were introduced to Brody, Amelia and Lily, but I didn’t feel as though the author did a lot to describe them. It felt more like the author was just describing their actions and interactions without delving too deeply into the characters. And I have to say that the “secret” Amelia was keeping from Brody really didn’t amount to much. Plus, since she and Brody’s sister were friends, I wouldn’t have thought it would be much of a secret. I also found it a tad unbelievable that the characters would have so much insight into their feelings and actions. It felt a bit like they were psychoanalyzing themselves constantly. Having said all that, I still thought it was a good read, and liked the author’s style of writing. Brody and Amelia were good together and little Lily was adorable. And I loved Brody’s nickname for his daughter. Sports themed romances aren’t my usual favorites, but this one managed to get it through the goal posts. (Sorry, couldn’t resist!)

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Entangled Publishing via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

I don't normally read nanny stories as the first ones that I did seemed trite. This one was a wonderful story. I so got into this one. The story was so well done that it almost seemed like a movie was being played out in my mind. As much as I loved Amelia and Brody and their journey to their HEA, I really fell for his daughter, Lily. He called her Lily Pad. How adorable!

Amelia is running from her past. Her family were drug addicts and they lived on the questionable side of town. She feels people still look down on her as they did when she was growing up so she doesn't tell Brody anything of her past. Her best friend in college is Julia, Brody's sister. Julia hires Amelia to be Lily's nanny while Brody is out of town. Brody doesn't want a nanny. His wife betrayed him with a teammate of his and she was killed while in the car with him. Both have trust issues. Miscommunication is key here as well as their trust. Amelia thinks Brody will look down on her due to her family history. Brody is so afraid of getting hurt again.

This book was written in my favorite dual POV format. It really helped me to identify with both characters. I could so easily see where each character was coming from with getting that inside look into their thoughts. It is so easy to misunderstand someone's action but not their thoughts.

I highly recommend this story for someone over the age of 18.

Amelia is in love with her boss, Brody Evans, NFL quarterback, and father of a wonderful little girl named Lily. However, Brody has trust issues because his wife who was killed in a car accident a year ago was having an affair with his teammate. When Amelia decides to give in to Brody’s charms, she begins to have doubts about his feelings and though it it is breaking her heart, she is considering accepting the new internship that is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Will Brody make the right choice?

I enjoy romances where there is love on one side and the other partner takes time to come around realizing the wonderful person that has been there for them the whole time. There were times I wanted to slap Brody for the things he said to Amelia, but his grand gesture makes up for his denseness. There is also a sweet family dynamic thrown in with Brody’s adorable daughter, Lily.

A charming and sexy sports romance that is steamy and sweet. Another great summer read!

Thank you to Ms. Price for giving me the opportunity to review this book with no expectation of a positive review.

I really enjoyed The Nanny Rules. Brody, an NFL Quarterback for the Browns, finds his sister has hired a nanny for him without discussing it first with him. So when he finds Amelia in his kitchen early one morning after coming back from off the road, he’s a little taken back. Not by the fact his sister would hire someone without discussing it with him but by the fact that she’s drop-dead gorgeous and he doesn’t know how to deal with the feelings he’s having towards her.

The attraction between the two of them is through the roof. Mia finds herself drawn to Brody, even though she knows she shouldn’t. After Brody lost his wife in an accident the previous year, he doesn’t know if he can ever trust himself with a woman again. Mia has her own set of secrets too. Yet the two of them jump headfirst into an affair…

I loved Brody and Mia together. They were magnetic and their love for Lily – Brody’s daughter was heartwarming and so special. I’m a sucker for sports romance and this book hit all my points for a great read. I will definitely be reading more from Melynda Price in the future.

The Nanny Rules is a fast-paced, steamy romance! As a former nanny, this trope always has a special place in my heart, but the characters won me over almost immediately. Brody - the brooding NFL player who's been burned in the past and has no desire to ever put his heart on the line again. Amelia - she wants to provide the help for children suffering after trauma, that she never received. Lily (Lily pad) - Brody's daughter, and in my opinion, the star of the show! Mia won me over by not taking Brody's crap, realizing he's just defensive and trying to push people away. She shut him down at every turn and I loved every minute of it.

I stopped reading at 50%. I was not a huge fan of The Nanny Rules. I felt like the writing was very choppy and I wasn't a huge fan of the characters. It does have potential and I would give Melynda Price another try.

This ARC was courtesy of netgalley - all thoughts and opinions are mine and unbiased

I really enjoyed this - no spoilers as I don't like them - read the blurb if you want more info but if you like your romances hot and steamy with some misunderstandings thrown in you'll love

I read this is 1 sitting and couldn't put down - I just had to get to the end - not often that happens with a book for me at the moment so this comes highly recommended

Who doesn’t love a single-dad finds love again romance?? I know I sure do! And The Nanny Rules is all that and so much more!

I enjoyed the dynamic between Brody and Amelia from their meet-cute through their entire relationship. Though predictable at times, Brody and Amelia managed to forge a relationship—even though Brody vehemently denied wanting one! Amelia’s quiet strength and easy-going nature is definitely what kept them together—especially with their communication issues! Lordy there were some communication issues.

My favorite part of The Nanny Rules is Lily, Brody’s daughter. The little scene stealer is an adorable, sassy, fun little character who has her daddy wrapped right around her finger!
