Well, at the very least, this book makes me want to listen to my sat nav when it takes me down a dodgy looking road in the dark!

Fresh from a relationship with a total pig who she finds having naked cuddle time with his secretary. Jessica dumps that idiot and takes herself off to find herself and put her artistic tendencies to the test.

Jason is the hot, steamy cowboy who is back in town dealing with his own pain to deal with. When he comes across Jessica literally stuck in the mud, it is annoyance (and a little extra.) at first sight.

The Truth About Cowboys is different from the past books that I have read by Lisa Renee Jones, but the fabulous writing, characters and story development are a perfect example of why I am always happy to to pick up Ms Jones' books.

Because I met Jason and Jessica in an upcoming release from Lisa Renee Jones, Tangled Up In Christmas, it was interesting to go back to when they met, their first impressions of each other, and the complications that made everything much more difficult for these two to figure out how to make things work, not only between them but also in their revamped professional careers.

I’m actually glad that I met Jason after he and Jessica worked through all of their issues because…I have to admit, I didn’t like him that much for a huge chunk of The Truth About Cowboys, and it’s not that I didn’t understand where he was coming from and why he felt the way he did about love and happily ever afters, but his anger shouldn’t have been directed at Jessica; he shouldn’t have used her as a punching bag because as much as she could hold her own against him, putting him in his place a number of times, he could have lost his chance with her if he pushed her too far.

I 100% stand behind Jessica’s decision to leave her career as a lawyer, her cheating ex, and even the city life, and even though she’s a bit out of sorts when she arrives and met with a rather ornery rancher, she’s determined to make her new life everything she wants it to be, even if that means going toe-to-toe with the gorgeous cowboy who seems to have quite the chip on his shoulder.

Jason and Jessica are far from friendly when he helps her get unstuck, but things only get more volatile the more time they’re around one another, causing these two to fight dirty with harsh words, ignoring the sexual tension building between them and finding any means to stick it to the other one. And this bickering intensifies until it feels like they’re either going to kill each other or tear one another’s clothes off.

It’s good that both of them are fighters because they’re going to need all that stubbornness and tenacity to work through the jumbled up mess in their heads so that they can get passed it and see just how good they could be together if only they stopped getting in their own way.

Readers will love the quaint setting as well as the secondary characters. Jason’s grandmother as well as Jason’s best friend, Roarke - who just happens to be the hero in Tangled Up In Christmas, add so much to the story line, especially grandma because it’s clear from the beginning of the book that she has ulterior motives for agreeing to rent Jessica the cottage and help her grandson find his way back to the ball field as well as love, and she’s just as stubborn as the main characters, which means that she’ll hold on as long as it takes to get what she wants, not for herself, but for those she loves.

The Truth About Cowboys is a sweet, entertaining enemies-to-lovers’ small town romance, and I know that readers are going to love Roarke’s story, which is releasing soon.

Bittersweet funny romance that’s the perfect complement for a day at the beach!
Jason has had it with women...
Jessica has had it with the city.
When these 2 meet, its hate at first site.
Well this haters to lovers romance was well paced had a lot of humor, and ahold moments. However Jessica can give as good as she gets and things got interesting.
What’s happens?
You’ll have to read and find out!

I am going to admit this; I read this book because of the cover. I mean, look at it. The model is gorgeous. But the cover itself is striking. Black and white with the title in blue. Eye-catching!!

The Truth About Cowboys is the love story of Jessica and Jason. Jessica is trying to find herself after a painful breakup. Jason is trying to keep his family’s ranch from being repossessed. They meet on a rainy country road leading to Jason’s ranch, where they clash. They continue to fight when Jason finds out that his grandmother had rented out the cottage he uses as an office to Jessica. But, behind the unfriendliness and distrust, Jason and Jessica want each other. Can Jason get over his mistrust of Jessica? Can Jessica get over her ex?

I loved Jessica. From the beginning of the book, she let him know that she wasn’t going to be pushed around. I did think that she put up with more from him that I would have. I liked how she bonded with Martha. Those were some of the best scenes in the book!! To sum it up, Jessica was a strong woman who didn’t back down when a jerk decided she needed to be put in her place.

I didn’t like Jason until almost the end of the book. I did feel bad for him. The amount of pressure he was under would have broken a lesser man. But it didn’t excuse his behavior towards Jessica. There were times where I got mad. Like when he refused to fix her AC or when he went hot and cold with her. How about when he flipped out on her in the hospital? He did have some redeeming qualities, which were highlighted at the end of the book. He redeemed himself when he went after Jessica and apologized. That made me go from not liking him to liking him. He realized he was being an a**hole and made up for it.

If I don’t like a character, I can’t get into the sex scenes. Well, for this book, I did. Jessica and Jason had incredible sexual tension, which in turn lead to fantastic sex scenes. I couldn’t get enough of those!!

I loved Martha. She cracked me up. She wasn’t afraid to call Jason out for being a jerk. I loved when she did that. I thought it was hilarious that she rented the cottage so that Jason could meet someone.

The end of The Truth About Cowboys was a typical HEA ending. The epilogues were great. I can’t wait to read book 2!!

I would give The Truth About Cowboys an Adult rating. There is sex. There is language. There is mild violence. I would recommend that no one under the age of 21 read this book.

I would reread The Truth About Cowboys I would recommend it to family and friends.

I just wanted to slap Jason sooo many times throughout this book because he just couldn't get over his hang ups and his past and he was going to lose a great woman like Jessica. And when everyone he loves is going against him including his grandma to keep her close, he finally has an epiphany....not fast enough for me though. LOL I loved the back and forth, but Jason was really getting chewed out in my head page after page.

Jessica is a divorce lawyer that has worked hard to make it to the top of her career when in one minute she’s left wonder what the hell she’s even doing in her life. Jason is a retired pro baseball player that has moved back home to his parents ranch to take over after a tragic accident.

This was a funny and sexy romance. Although I enjoyed most of it, it got a little stagnant towards the end. Yet, that did not keep me from finishing it. I can’t wait to read Roarke’s story!!

I give this book 3,5 stars.
I really loved the beginning, it was so funny and I couldn’t stop laughing unfortunately that didn’t continue and I became more and more angry with the male love interest Jason. I couldn’t figure out why Jessica kept on forgiving him for what he did to her. He kept on blaming her for things she hadn’t done or something she had done to help him, his grandmother and the ranch that he totally misinterpreted. When he wanted to apologize he thought he could just kiss her and say sorry and then everything was ok again. He man-handled her, called her names and every time he had been sweet and kind to her he turned on a plate and exploded on her. I didn’t think that he could be redeemed but he did. But I think it was way to late. It was in the last chapter and the epilogue.
On the other hand I loved Jessica. In the beginning of the book she was acting like a victim because of the thing that brought her to Sweetwater but the further you get in the book the stronger she gets and she figures out who she is and who she wants to be. She is so funny and she just says whatever comes out of her mouth. She is so creative and she is a go-getter. Even though she has a lot of insecurities, she just throughs herself into new adventures.
Jason’s grandmother is so amazing and you will just fall in love with her. She isn’t a frail woman and she fights Jason when he gets to protective towards her. She isn’t afraid to tell her opinion and she is very observant when it comes to Jessica and Jason.
I also loved Jason’s best friend Roarke. He is amazing, sweet and will do anything to help Jason find his happiness. I hope the next book in the Sweetwater series is about him, I would love that.
I can recommend this book if you want a sweet, heartwarming romance with an infuriating hero, a funny warm hearted heroine and amazing side characters.

The Truth About Cowboys
By: Lisa Renee Jones

*REVIEW* 🌟🌟🌟
The Truth About Cowboys is a hate to love type of romance. Jessica and Jason have both sworn off relationships, but in true ironic fashion, that maybe perfect person appears when least expected and not wanted. The story has plenty of angst and banter between Jessica and Jason as they resist a growing attraction. Although entertaining, the bickering became kind of annoying at some point. I felt it should have tapered off or ended sooner. The characters are likeable and engaging but not remarkable. It's a fairly straightforward recognizable foundation upon which this story is built. I enjoyed it as an easy charming read with a satisfying conclusion, but it's not very memorable overall. Romance readers looking for a relaxing standard read will enjoy this one.

The Truth About Cowboys is all about picking yourself up once you've been knocked down. And believing in love after being burned. Jessica and Jason started their relationship on a very bad note, and it took quite a bit of time before things got better. Jason didn't trust city girls, and he didn't want to like anyone.
My favorite character in The Truth About Cowboys was Martha - Jason's grandmother. She was just so nice, baking cookies, meddling in her grandson's life, but all she did, she did with so much love.
As the relationship between the protagonists unfolded, my heart melted for both of them.

4.25 stars--THE TRUTH ABOUT COWBOYS is the first instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary, adult TEXAS HEAT erotic, cowboy romance series. This is former major league baseball pitcher and rancher Jason Jenks, and Dallas divorce attorney/writer Jessica’s story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jason and Jessica) THE TRUTH ABOUT COWBOYS follows the acrimonious relationship between former major league baseball pitcher and rancher Jason Jenks, and Dallas divorce attorney/writer Jessica. With the discovery that her boyfriend was screwing around, and her outburst and accusations towards a client, Jessica finds herself in Sweetwater, Texas, licking her wounds as she writes ‘A Girl’s Guide to Divorce’. On a forced leave of absence Jessica intends to forget about the past but driving in the rain lands Jessica knee deep in mud facing off with the ‘a$$hole’ cowboy who will steal her heart. Enter former major league baseball pitcher turned rancher Jason Jenks. What ensues is the building but antagonistic relationship between Jason and Jessica, and the potential fall-out as Jessica is forced to walk away following one too many accusations by the man that she loves.

Jessica needs some time alone, and Sweetwater, Texas offers the solitude she needs to write her novel but Jessica had no idea that she was about to meet her future in the guise of an angry and embittered former baseball player who struggles to move on from the past. Jason Jenks doesn’t do relationships having been burned in the past, a past that continues to control his present. Battling too many demons and the inability to trust, Jason struggles with issues of jealousy, and uncertainty as it pertains to the woman with whom he is falling in love.

The relationship between Jessica and Jason is oft-times combative and hesitant. Jason’s issues of trust control his emotions and our hero tends to direct his frustrations on the woman he loves. Jessica, fresh off of a disastrous romance finds herself on the defence more times than she wants, a defence that forces Jessica to walk away before losing her heart. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Jason’s all seeing and feisty grandmother Martha; several ranch hands, Jason’s best friend and local veterinarian Roarke, as well as Jessica’s friend Shelly. I am looking forward to Roarke’s story.

THE TRUTH ABOUT COWBOYS is a story of family, friendship, betrayal and love; a story of trust, miscommunication, misunderstanding and hope. The premise is engaging and captivating; the romance is seductive and hot; the characters are broken, colorful, dynamic, charismatic and energetic. THE TRUTH ABOUT COWBOYS is a spirited and intoxicating introduction to Lisa Renee Jones’ new TEXAS HEAT series.

Lisa never fails to draw you in with her storytelling. I felt every emotion that both Jessica and Jason went through on their journey. Hot, sexy and a quick read. Bring on more Lisa.

I really enjoyed this story and the characters are so fun. Even Kelly the cat. Jason and Jessica have both been burned by someone else and are very wary of each other. They don't want to be attracted, but they just can't help it. She is on the rebound and they are trying to be just friends, but it is really hard to do that. Jessica not only falls in love with Jason, but his grandmother too. What if it doesn't work out for them? She could lose Jason and his grandmother. Jason keeps living in the past and Jessica keeps running away. Can they change?

I love Lisa Renee Jones writing, but this book was a hard sell. While I liked the overall concept and plot of the book, the characters had far too many flaws. Jessica for all her feistiness and sass, should have kicked Jason to the curb early on, and Jason needed a belt over the head with one of his baseball bats for the way he constantly treated Jess like crud on his shoe. The saving grace for this story was Martha; seriously this woman is a hoot, and provided Jason’s only redeeming quality, due to his total devotion to her. I’m hoping the next book in Texas Heat will be much improved.

I really enjoyed The Truth About Cowboys by Lisa Renee Jones.
The storyline is well written, well paced and entertaining from start to end.

Watching the relationship between Jason and Jessica unfold made me smile, swoon and wanting to reach into my kindle to shake them a few times lol
These two are perfect for each other, I was so happy they were able to open their hearts to each other and find happiness together.

The Truth ABout Cowboys is a great start to the Texas Heat series and I'm looking forward to reading more in the near future.

I absolutely loved this first book in the Texas Heat series. Jason and Jessica had sparks from the very beginning. Jason was a man who was torn between following his dreams and looking out for those who worked on the farm his family owned. Jessica is a woman who has recently left her work and her cheating boyfriend and is in search of peace and something new in her life. The banter between these to is so great. The roller coaster of their romance will have you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what will happen next. The chemistry between Jason and Jessica is to hot. I also enjoyed Jason's grandmother, Martha. She told it like it was and there were definitely some funny parts with her that had me laughing out loud. Ms Jones has gone back to her roots with this cowboy story and has done a wonderful job of weaving this story together. I absolutely loved the HEA and can not wait for Roarke's story.

Fun, realistic journey to love!!!

The Truth About Cowboys by Lisa Renee Jones is such a fun story. Jessica is a successful divorce attorney on the brink of becoming partner. When she finds her fiancé in bed with his secretary, she loses it! She tells a VIP client that he’s a cheater and she is promptly put on a leave of absence to regroup. Jessica decides to leave the city and hide away at a ranch and write a book on divorce. Her bad luck gets worse when she gets stuck in the mud and an a$$hole cowboy comes to her rescue. Turns out, the lovely woman she rented the cabin from, is the grandmother of the real owner...the cowboy!

Jason is the owner of the ranch where Jessica is renting a cabin. He used to be the Flying J pro pitcher from the MLB. He was on a fast track to being the best pitcher, when his parents die in a plane crash, leaving him alone to take care of his grandmother and run the ranch which was already in financial trouble. At the time, he had a “city girl” fiancée who had no interest in the ranch and cheated on Jason with his employees. To say he had bad feelings about “city girls” is putting it mildly.

The journey of enlightenment for both Jessica and Jason is filled with sarcasm, witty flirting, hot encounters with and without clothing, a sphinx cat with ideas of her own, a matchmaking grandmother, and all around fun. I loved this story and can’t wait to read Lisa Renee Jones’ next book!

I received an ARC copy of this book courtesy of NetGalley and Entangled Publishing and am voluntarily reviewing it. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely.

Lisa Renee Jones definitely delivers an entertaining story, we’ve got a hot-semi grumpy cowboy and a sassy divorce attorney, a matchmaking grandma and some great cookies, sounds great to me! I thought this was a fun read and Jessica and Jason kept me entertained throughout!

Jessica is a highly successful divorce attorney, about to make partner, when she has a bit of a break moment. After catching her fiance with his secretary she decides she needs a bit of a break and rents a small cabin in Texas country. Jason is a former baseball player who is now trying to save his family ranch. Martha, well, she’s Jason’s grandma and pretty much just sets these up. It’s too bad they seem to hate each other on site…or do they?

I loved the banter between these two, yes it’s sassy and sometimes there’s a bit of heat, but it’s just part of their connection. These are two very strong, stubborn characters who can’t seem to realize the love standing right in front of them. There is a lot of push and pull between them, it’s a fight for sure, but deep down I really did love them and get them. A fun, sexy romance that made me smile and made me swoon! And it made me want Martha’s cookies!

Lisa’s smooth writing style makes this country boy meets city girl rom-com funny, hot and passionate. Passionate as in steamy and at each other’s throats. Two independent humans on a collision course they are trying to avoid, but not if Jason’s grandmother has anything to do with it. Jason is a pro-baseball player turned rancher after tragedy hits his family. Jessica needs to escape the city and her ex and rents a cabin from Martha, Jason’s grandmother. The hurt both have experienced has them jaded. Big question, will this collision course end in a way they can both live with?

A good, enjoyable very sexy read!

Not your typical Lisa Renee Jones book, but sssoooo good!!! I'm used to Lisa's writing in her mystery/crime books, but this one, it is just great!! I love the push-pull of the characters, the hilarity that comes from some of the scenes, and the overall sweetness of the grandma! This is great for a take your mind out of the real world and just get into Sweetwater Texas!

Jessica’s life appeared to be going as planned as she had the successful career and the loving fiancé until she realized the fiancé was not the man she thought, which led to a series of events that destroyed the career. Needing to press reset on her life she finds herself in Texas where she has rented a house from an older woman as she writes the next great novel about divorce.

After the death of his parents Jason gave up his career as a professional baseball play to return home and manage the family ranch. The only problem is that his fiancé had no interest in staying and since then he wants nothing to do with city women.

When Jason comes to her rescue he soon realizes that his grandmother has been playing matchmaker. The only problem is that he and Jessica are like oil and water and they can’t seem to agree on anything or hold a conversation with bickering. When their sparks of antagonism ignite the chemistry between them will this country boy and city girl be able to overcome the pain of their pasts?

Sarcastic banter, hot chemistry and a grandmother that anyone would love all combine into a sweet and sexy story.
