Oh Jessica and Jason gave us quite a ride.
Jessica is a scorned divorce attorney and big city gal that just found out that her boyfriend was a cheat. She wants out of town and quick. She books a bugalow from a little old lady in Texas on a ranch and off she goes on her adventure . Jason is a stoic moody cowboy that gave up his life of baseball when he lost his parents. Now he is running a ranch and can be quite the big and brooding bear of a man . When Jessica finds herself broke down on the side of the road she is grateful for any assistance for the locals . When this tall handsome man stops she thinks that she may have a knight in shinning armor but no it is our cowboy Jason. This tale is about to take an interesting turn!! They have a knack for crazy banter and never see eye to eye but that is what is going to make this couple more interesting as we watch their realtionship unfold !

This is the first book I've read by this author (I know...I've clearly been living under a rock), and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I wasn't sure I would like Jessica as the book began, but I quickly realized that she was actually a country girl at heart and was out of place as that big-city lawyer in high-heel boots. She grew on me very quickly. As a Texas girl, and a huge baseball lover, I was swooning over Jason just from the book description. I just knew I'd love him. And I did, but he took longer to grow on me. I wanted to whack him upside the head many times over for the way he acted toward Jessica. He has his reasons, though, and I understood that and thought both characters developed at a very realistic pace. I loved the secondary characters in this one as well and will look forward to the next book set in Sweetwater!

A sincere thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for providing an ARC for review.

i think i finally figured out that i dislike books with nosy family members who know more than one of the lead characters and does stuff for their own good. the truth is, if anyone in my family ever dared treat me like i didn't know my own mind and wasn't able to make my own life choices i would lose my shit like whoa. i don't even have words for how angry that makes me.

which is to say, that when the truth about cowboys starts off with the hero's grandmother having rented out his office/cottage without his consent or knowledge because she knows what's good for him. it wasn't the greatest start.

this isn't to say that this book isn't enjoyable. jessica and jason are both compelling characters, the chemistry between them is palpable. it's just this whole set up is not for me. every time some secondary character stuck their nose in between the two leads i was shaking my head in frustration.

**the truth about cowboys will publish on august 27, 2019. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/entangled publishing (amara) in exchange for my honest review.

A bit of a change in style for this author but still a well written story. The topic of cowboys might put you off but let me say that it isn’t about roping steer and riding horses all the time. This cowboy used to play baseball and has now come back to his hometown.

Jessica is a soon to be former divorce attorney turned author of a how-to divorce book that has yet to be written. After leaving her job after some unfortunate events, she find herself renting a cabin in the woods where she plans to pen the advice.

Jason comes to her rescue on the dark and rainy night that she arrives in town, only to find that she has rented his office/cabin without his knowledge or permission. Enter the nosy grandmother and the wonders of listing any piece of real estate for rent.

These two are always at each other except when they aren’t. An entertaining story of two strong willed individuals who eventually figure out what they want and need from each other!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When Jessica rents out a cabin where she can get away from her city life, her cheating ex, where she can clear her mind, she doesn't think a hot cowboy will be the real owner of the cabin. Nor does she think she'll come to love that hot (but rude) cowboy!

The Truth About Cowboys is equal parts funny, sexy AND frustrating. I say frustrating because the push and pull between Jessica and Jason is...well, frustrating. He really is the asshole cowboy, I gotta say. He's so quick to accuse, so quick to judge, and he takes it all out on poor Jessica. I do like how she gives as good as she gets, though, but honestly, I kinda thought she was too good, too easy-going, for him. She deserved better. But their chemistry was smokin', the story was fun and witty, and Jason's Grandma was the absolute star of the whole story!! I freakin' love her! Also *hint hint* I thought Roarke (Jason's friend) was really interesting. If his story is next, I will be 1-clicking it in a heartbeat!

Granny has a plan and darn tooting she intends to see it come to fruition!
This was such a fun read.

The cast was colorful with a solid story line that had me laughing and sighing form the opening scene to the closing HEA.

Right out the gate, I was invested in Jessica. Her life was like a domino parade - one hit after another and they just kept coming. Her tenacity though was something else. I think she needed the edge that battling with Jason gave her to keep her mind occupied as well as the comfort that Martha provided to keep her from feeling alone and lost.

Jason is just a stubborn old cowboy! I get life threw him a few curve balls but IMO he is wallowing in a bath of ick that is his own making.

This two definitely provided hours of amusement
And the friction between them - blazing!

Jason is a cocky ex baseball player turned cowboy. Jessica is a divorce attorney turned author from the city. She is at the cabin on Jason's ranch to recharge and write her book after she caught her ex fiance with his secretary. Jason's grandma rented the cabin to her without telling him. The couple have a love-hate pull toward each other. With steamy sex scenes, fighting and a cowboy you can't go wrong with this romance.

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am leaving a review.

3 stars. The Truth About Cowboys was a pretty good book, although it's not my favorite book by this author. This is Jessica and Jason's story. Jessica is a successful divorce lawyer who catches her fiance sleeping with his secretary. She snaps at work, calling her VIP client a cheater, and getting put on a leave of absence. Jessica leaves the big city of Dallas and moves to a small, country town to regroup. There she plans to write a book on divorce while renting a house on a ranch. But things go sour as soon as she gets to town with a rental mix up, a jerky cowboy, bad weather, mud and car trouble. Jason is the grandson of the home owner of the house that Jessica rents. He is a former pro baseball player who quit playing to run the family ranch. He is a big jerk to Jessica, as he holds some preconceived notions about her based on his past experiences with "city girls". Yet sparks still fly between them every time they meet. They manage to become friends and then lovers despite their differences.

The Truth About Cowboys is a different writing style than Ms. Jones other work. I normally really enjoy her signature soapy, emotional style. But this book was totally different. There is much more dialogue, but less emotion and internal thoughts. I would never guess that Ms. Jones wrote it. I kind of hope that she goes back to her previous style. It took me quite a while to get used to this new style and begin enjoying the book.

Jason and Jessica have a volatile relationship. Their relationship is enemies to lovers. The two of them fight for the entire book. Jessica starts to like Jason, but he pushes her away many times and hurts her over and over. I thought he was a jerk a lot and felt bad for Jessica. There is little relationship progression until the end of the book. It's one step forward, one step back. They fight, have a truce, become friends, rinse, repeat. Through most of the book, they don't want to like each other, they judge each other harshly, and they can't imagine a future together. All of that lasts until past 95%. Then the ending felt too rushed. Jason's apology for his behavior was weak. I had a hard time believing that their HEA was permanent and that they were finished fighting.

Overall, though, this book was entertaining and a fairly easy read. I enjoyed the small town, Texas feel and the fun side characters. I really liked Jason's grandmother and her sweet relationship with Jessica. I also enjoyed Jessica's character progression from a cynical divorce lawyer to a romance author who is open to love. While this book was kind of a mixed bag, I enjoyed quite a bit about it, even if the relationship progression fell short for me. I was entertained by the book and I can see the potential for other stories if this becomes a series. I am still a fan of Ms. Jones and look forward to what she comes up with in the future!

This is not a typical Lisa Renee Jones book so I really wasn’t sure what to expect. But when you give me a cowboy, I can’t resist.

Girl gets embarrassingly dumped by her fiancee, flees to small Texas cabin to recoup and start a new “chapter” (literally she was going to write a book), gets stuck in mud, saved by hot mysterious cowboy who scowls with perfection, turns out he owns the cabin, she’s not welcome, grandma is a matchmaker who charms her way in, push and pull encounters and finally make it work.

It wasn’t my favorite read but I love the snark and the meddling grandma enough to try another cowboy story if the town of Sweetwater has another hot cowboy….let’s face it….nobody turns down a hot cowboy.

Jason is running his ranch he best he knows how and never considered renting his grandmothers cabin out, especially to a city girl. Needless to say when he came upon a city girl in her high boots saying she's there to rent the cabin he doesn't believe her. What a way to start right?

Jessica wants a quiet place to write and she can't do that in the city where her ex-fiance is. These two are explosive together and so much that they don't know about one another. Trust is in short supply for these two they don't have the best track records when it comes to ex's.

Will these two learn to trust each other before it's too late for one of them to say enough is enough?

I loved Jason's grandma Martha! She was funny and made me laugh and I just wanted to hug her. I was totally waiting for a cookie recipe! I loved this book and can't wait for the next book in the next series.

This was such a Fantastic read. So entertaining! Lisa Renee Jones brings awesome hate-flirt in this enemies to lovers romance that had me smiling big time. Sparks fly and Jason meets his match, when broken-hearted, divorce attorney, “City girl” Jessica rents out a isolated cabin.

Swoon worthy hero? Check. Strong determined heroine? Check. Major attitude and animosity? Check. Being in total denial of your feelings? Oh Yeah! Interfering Grandma? Check. Check.

Jason and Jessica were so awesome together. Their animosity and heat towards one another was off the charts and I loved being absorbed into it all. Their conflicts made for the best one liners, great verbal sparing and sizzling chemistry. There were just so many great moments between them and I couldn’t get enough. These two clash and its ridiculously fantastic! I love the bickering and tension. And when they explode they explode! I also love straight shooting Grandma Martha and everything she does to throw these two together.

Get ready for some serious fun, a whole lot of of emotion, heartwarming charm, and off the charts sexy in this Incredibly Fantastic story. I’m a huge fan of Lisa Renee Jones and books like “The Truth About Cowboys” is why. It’s the kind of book you can get lost in and never want to leave. What a way to start off this series!

Ok, so here’s the thing. In general, I am very pro-cowboy. They usually have very nice manners, are very easy on the eye, and even when being very alpha, they usually aren’t mean-spirited.
Jason is 1 for 3 in that assessment. He’s a towering hunk, if the author’s description is to be believed. But he’s missing his manners for at least half of the book when dealing with Jessica. He’s also suspicious...which I understood, to a point...angry, again...kind of understood. But he’s also mean. He says some hurtful things. And while I gave him plenty of leeway, he just made me angry for most of the book.
And the fact that Jessica let him act that way made me a little angry, but mostly sad, at her. Listen, I get the enemies to lovers trope, although I don’t think that’s a clear cut definition of this book. I think Jason had too many issues to juggle and overcome, and after giving him the benefit of the doubt for most of the book, I was actually rooting for Jessica to find another guy.
This is my first book by Jones. I loved Martha, I liked the setting, I liked the bit of humor I got from Jessica and I liked the writing. But I hoping the next hero I read from her is not the tightly clenched butt hole that Jason was.
My thanks to Netgalley for the gifted copy. All thoughts are freely and honestly given

I am not usually a fan of cowboy stories in any fashion, however I really enjoy this author so I gave it a shot and it was a good story. The writing as with any book I have read by this author was exceptional and really helped me to envision the story as I was reading it. Jason and Jessica at times were the characters that you love to hate and have both been burned before and bring that baggage with them as they try to make things work with each other.

THE TRUTH ABOUT COWBOYS by Lisa Renee Jones is the First book in the Sweetwater Series. This is the story of Jason and Jessica.
Jason left Sweetwater, Texas to start his baseball career pitching in the big leagues. But then his parents died leaving him to take care of the Ranch and his Grandmother Martha. Jessica lived in the city and was a high powered divorce lawyer who was engaged to be married. But Jessica caught her fiancée with another women. So Jessica has did a 180 turn around and rented a cottage in the country and plans on writing a book. But when she shows up to the cottage it isn't Martha that owns it even though she rented it to her its Jason who owns it. Of course Jessica falls in love with Martha but tempers along with some hot sparks fly between Jessica and Jason.
This was a hot funny read that I could not put down loved it!

In a desperate attempt to get away from everything, Jessica books a cottage based on some pictures and is on her way there to write a book. Just her luck that her car gets stuck in a pothole in pouring rain, and a hot cowboy comes to her rescue.
Jason is an ex pro baseball player who gave it all up after his parents death to manage his farm and take care of his grandmother. He has his hands full with making his ranch a success and doesn’t need any distractions in the form of a city girl living on his premises.
The truth about cowboys was a good read. I enjoyed the initial push and pull between a Jessica and Jason, though later it became a little irritating. The grandmother was so cute, and Jessica’s clumsiness provided a few hilarious moments. The chemistry was hot. Will I want to read more in the series? Absolutely :)

The Truth About Cowboys is a fun, sweet, finding that perfect someone who might be that A**hole that owns the bungalow your living in.

Jessica is a renown Dallas divorce attorney that finds her fiancée in bed with his secretary. Running away seems like the right thing to do so she gets on the internet and finds a bungalow available from this really sweet older lady named, Martha. When she arrives, she discovers that Martha doesn’t technically own the bungalow but her hot as all heck grandson, Jason, does.

Jason is an ex-pro-baseball player who gave up his career after his parents die in a tragic accident leaving him to care for the farm and his grandmother, Martha. Martha doesn’t really need caring after but she definitely has matchmaker plans on her mind.

Jessica instantly falls in love with Martha, but Jason pretty much drives her mad with anger and lust both. There is an attraction between them they just can’t deny, too bad past scars repeatedly get in the way.

I must admit; Jessica was way more tolerant of Jason’s antics then I ever would have been. I didn’t understand why she was so set on staying on a flooded-out ranch when someone was downright hostile towards her. It just goes to prove a grumpy, moody cowboy, sweet and wow, what a baker, grandma and cynical divorce attorney can find happiness even with all that muddied water.

4.5 Stars

The Truth About Cowboys is a sweet, fun and heartwarming story from Lisa Renee Jones. For Jessica and Jason it definitely isn't love at first sight, he's arrogant and standoffish whilst she's sassy and not afraid to say what she thinks.
A match made in heaven if you ask me.

When Jessica's life spirals out of control she finds herself with a new opportunity of being able to write a book, so she rents herself a cottage in the Texas town of Sweetwater. When she meets Jason a hot and rugged cowboy she thinks maybe her luck could be changing, that is until he opens his mouth. There's definitely no love lost between them but the push and pull of their relationship could be exactly what they need to find their true happiness.

A fabulous story that I highly recommend!!

The Truth About Cowboys, written by romance author Lisa Renee Jones, is a fun-to-read, dual person POV romance. There was a lot I enjoyed about this one…from the humor, the heat, the clumsiness of Jessica (which made for some real LOL moments!), the setting, and the back-stories…it all came together to make a really great book! There were times that I thought Jessica should just kick Jason to the curb and tell him where to stick it, but eh…she handled herself quite nicely! This has a nice combination of sports, cheating ex’s, story-writing, attorney, and country living. Overall, I would recommend this one and I give it a 4.5!

5 Love Comes Knocking on His Door Stars!!!

What an amazing start to a new series by Ms. Jones. Jason and Jessica definitely don’t start out as the best of friends… more like frenemies and they’re not even sure how they got where they are… I was chuckling out loud when we find out how Jessica ends up on his ranch that’s for sure.

Oh and Jason is a man after my own heart….former athlete turned rancher/cowboy with a love for his land and his grandmother that results in some oh so fun run-ins with Jessica. She’s a woman that’s trying to reclaim her life and I loved that she gave it as good as it got dished out to her. There’s definitely no lack of zingers coming from either of them!!

What’s also very apparent is their attraction to each other and let me just say….holy moly I’m glad I had a fan near me when reading this one because they’re LIKE TWO FIRECRACKERS!!! What starts as a way to release the sexual tension building between them turns into so much more. Our H/h have a chance at second chances in more than just the love department and going on this ride with them was phenomenal.

I adore how they not only are themselves around each other but they manage to bring out a side of each other they both thought they had lost and they laugh along the way which just makes their relationship that much more solid.

Ms. Jones has written the perfect start to a new series and I cannot wait to see where we go next with this series!!

This book was a pleasant surprise! This was a new to me author and I wasn't sure what I was going to get when I started reading. Holy cow - I did not want to put it down!

Jessica is escaping her city life after she is dealt not one but two blows back to back.
On her way to the cottage that is to be her temporary home, she runs into a mystery man that plays hero to her when her car breaks down.

The mystery man turns out to be Jason Jenks, the owner of the cottage that he did NOT rent to her.

These two start off hot! They are constantly fighting and bickering. Jessica is feisty, Jason is grumpy, and add a meddling grandmother in the mix and you've got one entertaining story!

The best part is there is more to this. There is a deeper part to this story that pulled at my heart strings.

Then push and pull dynamic between Jason and Jessica kept me on the edge of my seat. Will they or won't they? Who will give in first? The suspense was great! And yes, it was so worth it when they finally caved!

This was a fantastic enemies-to-lovers story!
