GAHHHH!!! I love me some wrangler wearing cowboys. Jason Jenks...well, I can only imagine how well he wears his. Sweet baby Jesus! This book was phenomenal! Lisa nailed it. Completely full of feels and a lot of tension. Like the kind of tension that makes ya say "oh damn". It was great. I loved the characters and their struggles throughout life. Those struggles made them great and a whole lot stronger in the end. This story is amazing. I love the grit of it. I even loved all the humor. Definitely not one to miss.

This was a cute book with good writing and an interesting plot. Jessica and Jason are cute together. I absolutely adore Martha and was laughing a lot while reading this book. It's a city girl meets a country boy type of book but has enough differences from those books to keep you interested. 4.5 stars

This was my first book by this author and I absolutely loved it! It was a quick read with great characters and fun banter between them! I will definitely be reading more books by this author!

Oh, how I loved this book! A baseball player cowboy who will stop at nothing to save and protect his family and friends, along with a woman trying to escape her past and create a future is just the best. Plus, Martha is absolutely spectacular!

Amazing second chance love. Could not put this book down. This is the first book I’ve read from this author will definitely read more. Loved Jason and Jessica. They were both amazingly strong sexy compassionate people.

I really enjoyed this books. I thought Jessica was hilarious. Jason was harder to “get to know” but I felt as though he was a strong character. Some of the bickering got annoying and frustrating at times but it was overall such a fun read. I will continue with the series!

Hoping to regroup and lick her wounds after a miserable discovery about her ex, Jessica, a successful divorce attorney leased a cabin in the woods for solitude and to work on her how-to book on divorces. A confirmed city girl, she wasn’t prepared for the torrential rains, muddy roads or lack of civilization that dark night. When the gruff cowboy stopped to assist, he wasn’t the most welcome sight, but he was all she had, now that her car had broken down, too.

Jason wasn’t buying the pretty woman’s story about renting a cabin, was she a squatter? a scammer? After all, the cabin she THINKS she is renting is his, and he certainly hadn’t rented it out, until she mentioned a lovely older woman named Martha.

THE TRUTH ABOUT COWBOYS by Lisa Renee Jones starts out as a delightfully funny romance complete with the broken-hearted woman out of her element, the damaged cowboy with his own painful past and enough quirky events and dialogue that this seemed like a slam dunk fun read!

The bickering between Jessica and Jason got just a little too nasty, a little too repetitive and really got to be a little too annoying. Martha is priceless, sweet, charming and clearly she had her grandson wrapped around her little finger, but in true “failure to communicate” fashion, even Martha and Jason made some of their issues worse.

The “turnaround” in the hate-love your looks-hate took too long for me. BUT, that said, I did need to know how things resolved and Lisa Renee Jones did put a wrap on this one that seemed like a win-win for all three main characters. Not tons of depth, but definitely a lot of turmoil all around, but thankfully nothing that a few cookies, a little steamy passion and a little growing up couldn’t fix.

I received a complimentary ARC edition from Entangled: Amara! This is my honest and voluntary review.

Fantastic Read. This is Lisa Renee Jones at her best in this laugh out loud romance.  This story is about Jason who was pitching in the big leaves but after his folks are killed in a plane crash goes home to care for their ranch and his grandmother.  The alpha grandmother without Jason's knowledge rents a cottage on the range to Jessica who has left her cheating fiance and her law firm to write a book on divorce and that does not go well with him as he is trying to get away from everything having to do with the city.  Jessica has one calamity after the other.  Jessica adores the grandmother and becomes quick friends but you wonder if she and Jason who just wants her gone will ever get together.  The story is so well written and you really believe you are there with these amazingly written characters.  I laughed and I cried.  I just did not want this book to end.  I highly recommend this book, it just blew me away.

"The Truth About Cowboys" by Lisa Renee Jones
When I read 'steamy' in the description of this story... I almost did not choose to read to review it. But I am ever so glad I ignored that part of the description. I did love this story, and I think you will too. Sometimes the wrong thing happens at just the right time. I received and ARC of this story from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my no strings attached opinion of this story. Happy Reading !!

*Received an ARC through Net Galley for an honest review**

This is the first book I've read by this author and based on the description I was really hoping to like it more. I really enjoyed the supporting characters of the grandmother, and Jason's best friend, as well as Jessica's best friend, and the hairless cat. As for Jason and Jessica, I had a hard time connecting with their characters or their story until about half way through the book, and then it really started to pick up and I got immersed with the book. I think it might have been how the story was written. I felt like, based on the header of each chapter listing the characters names, that there would have been more rotation between the characters POV, but it was mostly Jessica and I found myself wishing for more Jason POV to get into his character more and it just didn't happen, not till the middle or second half of the book. Perhaps if it hadn't been written like that offered as a book from Jessica's POV I wouldn't of had that expectation and I would have read it differently. But I like'd Jessica's eventual character development and the ending of the story.

The hero has had to step down from being a major-league pitcher after his parents died and he discovered that the family ranch was suffering financially. The heroine had had to take a leave from her job as a divorce lawyer when she lost her cool after discovering her fiance in bed with his secretary. She decides to rent out a cottage on his ranch and write an advice book on divorce. They’re both very reluctant to indulge in the undeniable attraction they feel for each other.

They bicker a lot and he’s rather nasty to her. Then they’ll give in and kiss and then he’ll make some other boneheaded assumption about her that he’ll have to apologize for later. Then repeat. The real relationship that is rewarding is between the heroine and the hero’s grandmother. She’s adorable and loving and just what anyone would wish one’s grandmother to be.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

This book is really great!!!! Honestly can you ask for more an ex professional baseball player who is now a full time cowboy. And Jessica is a divorce attorney who ends up living on his ranch for the next 3 months to write a book about divorce. It’s comical, cute, and a great summer read!!

I loved this book! It's nice to read a story where the male main character (Jason) is not chasing the female main character (Jessica). So, Jessica isn't chasing Jason either. I literally laughed at all of the banter between these two. The grandma had me in stitches as well. There are a few times that I wanted to just smack Jason. There are some twists, drama, and just plain feel good moments in this story. I read an advance copy via Net Galley and voluntarily chose to review.

It's been a hot minute since I've read a LRJ book but this one really grabbed my attention.

Overall, I thought it was a good read. You've got a cowboy, a city girl that can't seem to stay out of the mud, and a meddling grandma. What could possibly go wrong? Not much! I loved Jason and Jessica together. They're really not as different as they seem and it was fun to watch them fall (her, literally).

There were lots of laughs and enough swoon to cause a book hangover. I can't wait to see what's next.

There's a fine line between the fun bickering characteristic of a frenemies and two people being simply annoying. Sadly, this one fell right into the latter.

I guess The Truth About Cowboys is that they can be hella frustrating.

Although not everything was bad, somehow I feel like this could have been more of a "me" problem. To be completely honest, I absolutely loved the first quarter of the story. The female lead was hilarious and I could relate to her on so many levels. However, I feel like I never got to really understand her under all that big sense of humour. At the same time, the male lead - the cowboy - was a tough cookie to crack for different reasons. But hey, I was here to discover what's the truth about cowboys after all. And while I'm usually up to the task, in this case I was simply frustrated with him, his actions and his closed off cowboy persona. Also, his attraction seemed to appear out of thin air.

I don't know, I guess something was missing for me to think of this one as a hit rather than a miss.

Jason and Jessica have a love/hate relationship. Once these two get over themselves and realize that they are not the enemy, its a wonderful relationship. Both have trust issues and it hard to think that someone wants to do something nice just because. The sexual chemistry was off the charts.

This was the first book by Lisa Renee Jones that I’ve read. I was divided on how many stars to rate, between 3 & 4. The story kept me entertained, I really loved Martha, Jason’s grandmother (we all need a Martha in our life). My main complaint is that it’s too wordy and Jessica sometimes came off as scattered and a klutz when she was supposed to be a cutthroat divorce attorney. Jason was almost too hard headed to be redeemed but he was. It’s nice to read the thoughts and motivations of each character but when it becomes too repetitious, it gets boring. The story and the character attributes along with the dialogue helped make this a more enjoyable book.

Only read this book if you LOVE cowboys! And I definitely love romance novel cowboys.
This is one stubborn cowboy who thinks our heroine is out to get him. And he isn't afraid to let her know. And this heroine definitely gives as good as so gets with a lot of sass. I loved every second of this book, all the side characters as well and even the parts that left me feeling a little weepy.
I'd love a Roarke book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I voluntarily read an arc of this book for an honest review. What a great book! I loved how straightforward the interaction between the H/h was. They said what was on their mind and it was powerful and hilarious. I laughed so much throughout this book. Jason was super sexy, super protective of his grandma and a super jerk, although Jessica called him an a word that was very fitting. Jessica for her part is strong, her mom was absent a lot and she’s made something of herself despite or maybe because of her moms many marriages. She’s a very successful divorce attorney, well she was before a very bad day that had her losing her fiancé and her job all at once. Jason was a pro baseball player when tragedy struck and he goes home to run the family ranch. When Jessica needs a place to get away she finds a cottage rental in Sweetwater TX and leases it immediately. Imagine her surprise when she gets there and finds out Martha didn’t own the cottage she rented. Martha promises to make it right but not before Jason, her grandson tries to kick her out. From here on out it’s war! But what a war it is! The sexual tension is thick, The insults fly and heat is felt by everyone in the vicinity. You’ll love the witty banter back and forth between them. You’ll love how they fight and love and most of all how they grow and change and become better people.

This book was everything I love about reading! From the first page I was hooked. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough! The character development was wonderful. I just love Jason and Jessica are such a great couple. The heat level between them is scorching. I loved their banter and their fights. At times it’s laugh out loud funny. Other times my heart hurt for them individually. Martha is so funny, I just loved her. I wish I had a Grandma like her. There are life lessons in this book. I really hope the author plans to make this a series! I received an advance review copy from NetGalley for an honest review.
