This was a wonderful read and it was well written. I truly enjoyed the story line. The characters Jason and Jessica I thought was wonderful. I was hooked from begging to end. I look forward to reading more books from this author.

This isn’t my first read from the author, but it is differently from anything I’ve ever read from her and I LOVED it! A sexy cowboy, who is also a former pro baseball player? SIGN ME UP!
Jessica is a former divorce attorney who is running away after catching her fiancé cheating on her, which is how she ends up finding a little cottage in the middle of nowhere in Sweetwater, Texas. What she doesn’t expect to find is a former baseball player turned cowboy and his super amazing grammy. Jason is trying to save his parents ranch and making sure his granny is taken care of, so when he has a run in with Jessica his world is turned upside down.
I loved the banter between Jason and Jessica. They definitely got off on the wrong boot, but they more time they spent together they started to form a friendship. Jason was possessive of Jessica, he wanted to keep her away from the rest of the workers on the ranch, of course that was due past relationships. The chemistry between them was something that had to build for me. The more time they spent together the hotter their chemistry was.
Lets talk about Granny. She was amazing! She was a fighter. The love she had for her grandson, for the ranch and everyone involved was fantastic. I LOVE the bond she formed with Jessica. Those two literally became instant best friends.
If you love cowboy romances this is a MUST READ!

Hot for cowboys! I really, really enjoyed this story. Jones created a fun world for us that includes snakes, flying air conditioners, ugly brown boots, warm gooey cookies, a snarky, clumsy city girl and a “Wrangler commercial come to life” cowboy. These two are oil and water, lol, in other words; the perfect match! Jessica, down on her luck, is looking for a place to lick her wounds and regroup. She may need saving from her clumsiness, but she sure doesn’t need saving from life. She is her own hero. Insert fist pump! Jason may be a swoon worthy cowboy, but he’s also a true a$$hole. At least to Jessica that is. We learn that Jason too is hiding from his own past traumas. He realizes that Jessica just might be the one that can see past the protective walls he’s created and that scares the crap out of him. He does what he can to remain safe and pushes her away at every opportunity.

Jason may be “rugged country hotness”. But his tactics drive Jessica batty and she fights back refusing to let him win.

“I’m no longer fantasizing about a kiss, but rather a stomp on his toe or a kick to his shin.”

The feeling between the two is completely mutual. It seems like the story will play out as an enemies to lovers type, but the author doesn’t hold true to prediction. Jason and Jessica may push each other’s buttons, but they also understand each other in ways no one else has. They really never reach the enemy level, just the drive each other crazy level.

“That crazy, clumsy, pain-in-my-a$$ woman is ten kinds of turn me on and piss me off, and I don’t know what to do about it now besides leave, but that’s not going to work for long.”

The have an instant feisty attraction fueled with sexual tension. So combustible sparks fly whenever they are together. It’s obvious to those around them, just not to them.

“Because your mouth says a$$hole and your eyes say –oh, baby.”

“He lightly touches my arm, but heat radiates up and over my chest like a fire, burning me alive. My gaze jerks to his again and that fire now blazes a circle around us.”

But the sexual tension can only be held off for so long until it ignites with such a fire it is epic!

“When he’s buried deep inside me, our eyes collide and I swear I tremble with that connection. I swear his eye register that same kind of jolt. He cups my face and drags my mouth to his. “I knew you were trouble.””

But they both know that being more than friends will come at a cost and neither are willing to pay the price.
Jessica doesn’t believe in love. “I’m passionate about not becoming captive to a relationship.” Jason will never let his heart be used and abused again.

Will these two beautiful people who clearly belong together ever see the light? Will they be able to rebuild their lives? And will it include each other?

The author gives us a thoroughly entertaining story that has all the good parts! There was enough humor, snark, suspense and lots of delicious steamy parts to keep readers very happy. I really appreciated that the potentially predictable parts, didn’t play out predictable at all! It kept me engaged and intrigued. This book is an entertaining emotionally light read with wonderful characters, written in a way that you feel like you’ve come to be part of the family. A read you don’t want to miss!

This is a fun, cute, sassy and sweet read. I flew through this story and fell in love with the town, family, friends and storyline. The romance is hot and funny. The pacing of the events and the concerns is on point and flowed well. Everyone had baggage of sorts in this story and it was addressed in some creative and loving methods. Along with the romance several friendships are highlighted in this story and I am here for them! This is a stand-alone, but when you are done reading you are going to want more time with this community and cast of characters!

I really didn’t feel anything between Jason and Jessica. I mean he started off as an ahole and to me, there were parts that he didn’t let up. It was frustrating because I like the build up, the push and pull, and I really didn’t feel any of that. I actually really liked the grandma, she was pretty badass. After about half way through I started skimming because I wanted to see how it ended. This is just a me thing, I’m sure other people might enjoy it.

A darling story. Jessica is running away from everything she knows to get away from a cheating fiancé. She is clumsy, accident prone and seems to always need rescuing. Jason is hiding at home from all the trouble that has happened his life recently. This story is filled with fun characters and hilarious incidents. It is witty and charming. As Jason and Jessica go back on forth on how they feel about each other you will enjoy their name calling and feisty fights. Getting to a happy place takes lots of cookies and many missteps.

The truth is I want this cowboy! 5 stars

This is book is so good! I laughed, I cried & I loved all the characters! Jason, the cowboy, & Jessica, the city girl, have a chemistry from the beginning, & they have a hate to lust to love relationship. The push/pull between them almost became too much for me at a certain point, but that just means I cared so much about these two characters & their relationship. I felt for both of them so much, but Jessica really struck a chord with me. I loved all the secondary characters as well! This book was well written, beautifully flows, engaging storyline, in depth characters & a happy ending that made me smile. I definitely recommend this book!

A stormy night, a isolated country road, a single woman on her way to a new life - the last thing she expects is to meet the cowboy who will change everything!

The Truth About Cowboys is an entertaining read. Jessica and Jason are a couple that on the surface don’t belong together and spend a good portion of the story needling each other as they form an unexpected friendship that has potential for more. Add in baggage from past relationships, a match making granny, and a fun secondary cast and this is winning recipe. The characters are engaging, their actions/reactions authentic, and I found myself rooting for them.

Ms Jones is a new author for me and after reading this book, I will definitely be reading more. My one “complaint” if you can call it that - is the fact that the fictional town in the story borrows it’s name from a real place that I am familiar with. I struggled a little with getting into the story because i kept looking for the real town in the setting. Once I was able to let that go, it was easier to focus on the content of the story.

I had mixed emotions in how to review this book but overall it was a promising start to the Texas Heart series. The Truth About Cowboys is an engaging story, Jessica and Jason were likable characters, however I found the intense bickering between them quite nasty and unnecessary at times. In saying that I will look to recommend and read more of this series

The Truth About Cowboys will make you have a love/hate relationship with the story. It has a slow burn that will kill you slowly. Some may not like that in a story, and some like me will be begging for more. I had so much emotions running through me as I am not very patient. But good things come to those who wait, and believe me, this is worth the wait!

What am I rambling about? Well that will bring some spoiler alerts. But I will say, you will love Jessica and Jason's story. You will love the side characters (hint hint Martha). But most of all, The Truth About Cowboys is memorable and will stay in your head for days to come!

Jason and Jessica! ❤️ Both Jason and Jessica have experienced some life events that have turned them away from the possibility of love yet through their interactions are able to force the other to overcome and grow. This book has a lot of conflict, comedy, and angst that blossoms into a beautiful demonstration of love and sacrifice.

Is this your second chance? Jessica had to leave Dallas for her own sanity, her career is certainly over and her fiancee is a liar and cheater. She hopes that she will be able to write her book and find peace but everything changes when she meets a annoying cowboy. Jason has no that me for city girls and he will do whatever it takes to get rid of her it is bad enough that his grandmother Martha has rented out the cottage without his knowledge. They just can't seem to get along but the sexual tension becomes too much and they find themselves wanting too much. Is there any hope for them?. Can Martha convince her grandson Jason to give baseball another go as that his passion without him thinking that he is giving up on her & the ranch? Nothing is going right between Jason & Jessica they both are too scared to move forward and now it seems like things won't work out, is it too late for them? A great read. We all deserve another chance at happiness sometimes we just have to be willing to take a risk. The Truth About Cowboys is added to my list of favorite reads. Two damaged souls push and pull each other with an attraction they didn’t expect or even want.
Jason, a former pro baseball player, was burned by the likes of a “city girl.” In his eyes they’re all alike. He’s a sexy cowboy with a judgmental brazen attitude. Jason has had his share of hard times both emotionally and financially which also creates the mental stress that he struggles to rein in. Cynical as he is, he can’t control what he feels for Jessica. She is the storm within he can’t control.
Jessica a divorce attorney doesn’t believe in love. She has seen her mother get married and divorced several times and the fact that she was cheated on by her ex. She’s headstrong but when it comes to Jason, she confused. She wants him but can’t stand his arrogant ways.
Lisa has written a story of how true love can heal a broken soul. Once again she has taken her readers on an incredible journey filled with stubborn a hero and even a more stubborn heroine. This is so amazing. Lisa really hit this one out of the park. I loved everything about this story. Jason and Jessica have the best banter back-and-forth. I laughed so much all the way through this book. I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars.

A hot country cowboy, a city slick divorce lawyer and lots of steamy fights. The thin line between love and hate gets tested in this book, more towards hate in parts but their chemistry is apparent.

Jessica is licking her wounds after finding her fiance cheating with his secretary. The thing is once she does she finds she is more embarrassed that hurt, even though she should feel that way.

Jason is taking care of his family ranch, and his grandmother. Though his grandmother is more than capable of taking care of herself, she is a wild one. While she loves to bake, she also makes a mean Chocolate Vodka martini. Jessica immediately loves her, and claims her as her own. But Jason, he keeps trying to make her leave, while also wanting her to stay.

A lot of push and pull in this story, one too many fights for me but overall I liked them both as characters, and wanted them to work it out throughout the story, drawing me in.

Jessica is a divorce attorney from Dallas, who needed a change of scenery after finding her boyfriend in bed with his secretary. Jessica gives up her career as a lawyer and decides to write a book called "A Girl's Guide to Divorce". After relocating to a rustic cabin on a ranch outside of Dallas, Jessica meets the grumpy owner named Jason. Jessica recognizes Jason as a once famous baseball pitcher and he promptly tells her that she can not stay there. After much arguing and name calling, it was determined that Jason's grandmother, Martha, who rented Jessica the cottage and that it was not hers to rent. Eventually, Martha talks Jason into letting Jessica stay at the cottage and the two fight constantly. While I find the characters of Jessica and Martha delightful, I found Jason to be annoyingly stubborn and mean at times. I know that he has been burned in the past, but get over it already. It seemed to detract from the story for me. The author's writing and character development was great and I gave it four stars because of Jessica and Martha's friendship in the story; not the love interest :( I received this book as an ARC and voluntarily give my honest review.

After Jessica catches her fiance canoodling with his secretary in his office after hours she decides she needs a little break from the city and life in general. So she packs up her belongings, rents a little cottage a few hours away, and says goodbye to all she knows in exchange for some much needed thinking time and writing time. What she finds hidden in the great outdoors is not only good for her soul, but also unexpectedly good for her heart too!

She never expected to meet a man like Jason, but the button-pushing, uber sexy cowboy waltzed into her world and turned it upside down. They share some serious sparks, but they are both non-believers when it comes to love too... so things are bound to get interesting!

From the first chapter this one pulled me in, between it's captivating words and the romance blooming between Jason and Jessica it made it impossible to put down. The chemistry between these two was evident from their first meeting and it continued to sizzle throughout the entire book. But their self-doubt about love and their future kept making an appearance too and stirring up lots of turmoil for their hearts and minds... which meant angsty heart-squeezing feels for me! I loved this one it's pages came brimming with feeling, humor, and steamy encounters... all things necessary to make a romance readers heart happy!

Highly recommend you get your hands on this book, it pages hold a story that is certain to leave you swimming in feels and swoons!!

I've fallen in love with......Martha! Everybody wants a grandma that bakes cookies, daily, and spoils you rotten. Jason and Jessica have found each other after they've been burned by their exes, for similar reasons they got out of those relationships. A spur of the moment decision has Jessica moving onto Jason's property and becomes a part of the family. But she digs into what makes him tick and his reasons for not following his dreams, that push and pull is electric. I absolutely didn't want their story to end, every character had a purpose and brought more to the relationship. Great romantic comedy with so much more. Netgalley provided my copy, my review was written voluntarily.

The Truth About Cowboys is the first book in Lisa Renee Jones new series, and it has one of my favorite tropes in it, which happens to be Enemies-to-Lovers. I love this trope and can’t get enough of it.

The book starts with Jessica heading to Sweetwater, Texas to get away from the city since she caught her fiancé in bed with his secretary. The break-up has her without any money and giving her up to her job as a divorce lawyer. She’s decided to rent out a cottage on a ranch and write a guide to divorce book. Unfortunately, she ends up stuck, and a very mean cowboy assists her. That same cowboy Jason finds out that Jessica is staying at his cottage thanks to his grandmother renting it out to her without his permission. Jason knows that his grandmother has a secret agenda, but he doesn’t want anything to do with Jessica and having a relationship. He has his painful past, and he has to take care of the ranch that his parents used to run. He has a lot on his plate, and now he has to deal with the beautiful, clumsy Jessica. Jessica will continuously put Jason in his place, especially when she finds out the truth about Jason and why he’s the way he is in the book.

Jessica is one character I liked in this book because she didn’t let Jason scare her away. He was a complete jerk to her in this book. I couldn’t stand his character, but I also couldn’t get enough of him. He’s a former baseball pitcher, and everyone wants him to go back to baseball, but he thinks he needs to be at the ranch to help his grandmother. His grandmother wants him to live in his life. His grandmother was my favorite because she was witty, feisty, and funny. I loved her. She put her grandson in his place at times. Between his grandmother and Jessica, these two knew how to put Jason in his place.

Now on to the relationship between Jason and Jessica. These two had an explosive relationship together. It was off and on and then on and off several times, but that’s what happens with an Enemies-to-Lovers book. I love it.

This book fed my love of Enemies-to-Lovers and Cowboy Romance. I look forward to the next standalone novel in the new series by Lisa Renee Jones. Be ready for two characters that can’t stand each other, but then have a connection that they can’t deny.
