5 ☆ A feisty female antagonist, impossible to put down!! Josie’s my new favorite female hero, love her. And finding this well executed, absorbing plot driven novel is ALSO part of a series, a huge plus in my book!!

[Josie gets emotionally involved trying to find a seven year old girl kidnapped right under her own nose while at the neighborhood playground. As she investigates, she senses there’s more going on and sets to trailing her hunch. There’s a second story so to speak that leads to shocking events decades earlier.]

A sinister, twisted game of cat & mouse, dark buried secrets, lies, murder. Things aren’t what they appear. You may think you know but you don’t. The suspense had my stomach twisting in knots. My first Lisa Regan novel, the sixth in the Detective Josie Quinn series with a jaw dropping ending, it most definitely won’t be my last. This was one intense wild ride that I didn’t want to end!!

I received a copy from the publisher Bookouture on NetGalley.

Josie Quinn is back again, i love this series, i think you need to read in order so that you get the back history to certain characters, she hasn't disappointed, brilliant read, you think it's going one way and BANG, off it goes in a completely different direction, if you like a good mystery as well as regular characters in a series, this is her, fabulous read.

I knew early on there was something, just something, but of course I didn't know what that something was. And the anticipation and filling in of other puzzle pieces in the meantime are what makes Ms. Regan's books so darn enjoyable! In this one, Josie becomes involved in a missing children's case where they quickly learn that it was both well planned and personal. But for which spouse? And what secrets do they each have that have resulted in their child being kidnapped? Josie seems to have calmed her temper down a bit but is still crazy aggressive in trying to be everything to everyone and everywhere at the same time. I'm still struggling with her and Noah's relationship but it is easier while he is out injured. What happens when he returns and she is his boss? Looking forward, as always, to read the next in the series.

Josie Quinn is back! Can’t believe this is book six! This is hands-down one of my absolute favorite police procedural series, I just love Lisa Regan’s writing style. This time Josie is on the hunt for a missing child. While at the park with young Harrison Josie has a front row seat when little Lucy disappears into thin air after a ride on the carousel. The kidnapper has left several messages implying that this is personal and Josie is convinced that the parents are keeping secrets. As the body count rises the tension increases, will Josie solve the crime in time?

This book had a little bit of a different feel to it. The rest of the books in the series have a personal connection to either Josie or one of the other members of her team. Both Gretchen and Noah are in the story, but neither of them play a very significant role. So while I was interested in the story I missed the personal touch. I think one of my favorite parts of this series is Josie and how much her character has developed over the course of the series, there was a little of that but not as much as I would’ve liked. Having said that the mystery was very well done. The kidnapper/killer was quite disturbed, diabolical, and cunning. I was completely invested and liked how all the pieces came together. Cannot wait to see what’s next for Josie, Gretchen, Noah, Trinity, and Luke.

*** many thanks to Bookouture for my copy of this book ***

This was an incredibly gripping book, no doubt about it. I think the Josie Quinn series of books gets better and better, with each one!

Little Lucy Ross goes missing after getting off a carousel in a park, and despite the locals pulling out all the stops in the search for her, no trace of her is found. As people close to Lucy's parents are murdered, one by one, the pressure is really on Josie to solve the case and get Lucy home to her mum and dad, ASAP. On top of this high-profile case, some stuff in Josie's personal life are a bit worrying as well.

Absolutely fantastic read, looking forward to reading the next one!!

4.5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

Her Silent Cry by Lisa Regan is the 6th book in the Detective Josie Quinn mystery series, and my second book by this author. When seven year old Lucy is kidnapped off a carousel at a park, Detective Quinn is on the case. Wow this book grabbed me from the very first page, and kept me going. This book has more twists and turns, that kept me reading page after page. Just when I thought I was on the right track, I realize I wasn't. I found this book to be a quick read, with a well developed plot and characters. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author. If you love mysteries like I do, than I recommend this book.

I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and the publisher. Thank you.

Wow! This really lives up to its tagline - it is "An absolutely gripping mystery thriller".

Detective Josie Quinn is babysitting her friend's son and has taken him to play in the local park. Whilst there, his play on the slide is momentarily interrupted by seven year old Lucy whose Mum apologises. Minutes later Josie hears Lucy's Mum's frantically calling for Lucy. They had been on the carousel and Lucy has disappeared whilst they were getting off..... Josie calls in the police and so starts her leading the investigation into the young girl's disappearance, an investigation full of surprises, revelations and murders.

Throughout this story there are flashbacks but you're unaware of just who they relate to but they really make sense when you discover just what happened and why. The tension racks up as the story progresses, anomalies discovered, lies revealed and murder victims found. It is a heart in your mouth thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat but it is also a story which explores relationships and truly is a gripping thriller. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and kept turning the pages till I reached the end. If you enjoy suspense filled crime thrillers where the Detective investigating is the main character, this is one you should try. I look forward to reading more in this series in future - especially to see how Josie's relationship develops!

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book by Bookouture via NetGalley and this is my honest review after choosing to read it and not wanting to put it down until I'd finished it!

Not my favorite, but still a good addition to the series!

Her Silent Cry is a police procedural about a child abducted in broad daylight. With no witnesses and no suspects, the child’s parents come under fire. While they seem innocent, deep dark secrets from their past could put their child in imminent danger.

This is the 6th book in the Detective Josie Quinn series--it can be read as a standalone. This was a little different than the other books in the series in that the mystery wasn’t linked to Josie’s personal and professional life. The mystery takes center stage, pushing Josie’s personal life to the side. Outside of one potentially major personal development, Josie's personal life is almost drama free!

The Josie Quinn books always push the line of believability, but this one was probably the most realistic. However, there are still a few questionable moments! Josie's ability to solve the case with such ease didn't seem realistic, but I am not going to gripe on this element too much!

The case is interesting, but I didn’t care much about it. I wanted more of Josie, Noah, Gretchen and other regulars who show up in this series. Overall, this is a good, fast-paced, and satisfying read. I am hoping the next book puts Josie and her team back in the spotlight.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This is a police procedural about a kidnapping, and it's very original and with lots of twists. Very well written and with great characters.

She's a beautiful little girl, 7 years old with bright eyes who giggles and skips instead of walking and has a love of butterflies. At the park with her mother, she wants to ride the carousel, but as the ride ends, Lucy disappears.

Detective Josie Quinn happens to be at the same park, babysitting a friend's young son. She immediately goes into police mode, shutting the park down, calling for a lot of backup, setting up search teams and calling in the search dogs. But Lucy is gone.

As with all missing children cases, the police first look at parents, siblings, other family members and then going farther out .... teachers, friends, friend's families. But it boils down to one family member who may have secrets ... but do these secrets reveal a kidnapper?

This was a fast paced, well written story. Starting with a bang, the suspense doesn't let up until the very last page. The characters are all finely drawn, the reader can feel the emotional upheaval coming in waves from the pages.

Although 6th in the series, this reads well as a stand alone. As usual, I highly recommend starting at the beginning so as to not miss those nuggets that make this a standout series.

Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Every parents nightmare happens when Amy And Colin Ross take their little girl Lucy to the park. Riding the carousel with her mom everything seems fine and they have fun, a normal day out. But then the unthinkable happens - Lucy disappears. Right in front of the eyes of her mother, father and all the other families. Josie is at the park too and it doesn’t take long and everybody is searching for the missing girl.
As usual I got drawn in to the story from the start, Lisa Regan’s writing does that to me. I never can’t wait for the next book coming out and always do a little happy dance when there is a release date. I couldn’t tell how it would play out and what secrets Amy had in their past. And it was heartbreaking. And after all this time she still thought it was her fault. Just heartbreaking.

I don’t know where to start with this review! I love this series, I really do! I just had a hard time reading this book. Not because I didn’t like it, I really did, just the storyline of a missing child was hard to read. It makes me never want to let mini-me out of my sight ever again. It’s every parent’s nightmare!

This is a tough case for Quinn and her team, at least she has the FBI to help this time. A young child goes missing, how the hell did she just disappear. Even looking back over video footage and pictures taken by parents at the park, it’s just not clear. Then the rucksack is found in the middle of the carousel where Lucy was abducted with a note to answer the phone.

With each phone call received, a body turns up. The tension ramps up, the secrets uncovered are horrifying and frightening. You feel the tension and the stress the parents are living, every moment and feeling they live, I lived. You also have chapters from unknown characters thrown in between, and it is devastating to see how these chapters link into the story and how the past really can shape a person if they let it. The whole nature vs nurture is strong here as you see an argument for both all through the actions of people who call themselves parents.

Whilst you have the team trying to solve this crime, something isn’t quite right with Quinn and you begin to wonder if some of the actions from the previous book have started to catch up with her. Both Noah and Quinn are still carrying the weight of what happened in the previous book and it adds a sense of realism to the story as they have not just moved on quickly.

It is easy to read these as standalone books but I wouldn’t. I would read the series in order, (although I still need to read book 1 and 2) because you see the change and growth in the team. Although things are mentioned it does not hamper any of the enjoyment or the reading.

Regan’s writing always keeps me engaged and I had to devour her book. It took me a couple of evenings, and I was on edge the whole time reading. The suspense was ramped to the fullest and I really could not see how this would end. I mean would there be a happy ending?

I love that you have a team that everyone pulls their weight and have a place. I mean I couldn’t possibly have a favourite as they all add to the team, they all have had a focus on each of the books and hopefully, Mettner might next time. However, I do have a huge soft spot for Noah, just saying.

I am already excited to see what happens next, and I really hope Quinn gets her vacation man she needs it!!

Thank you NetGalley for the copy of Her Silent Cry by Lisa Regan that I read and reviewed.
I enjoyed this book in the Josie Quinn series but it did seem to move a bit slower then the others for me and did drag along in some parts. However, I still love this series and the characters and this book was not a disappointment. Josie was still doing what she does best which is solve cases with the help of her team.
I was a bit confused with some of the things that were taking place in this book and that is why it got the rating that it did. Other then that it was a great story with some twist I did not see coming.
Her Silent Cry gets four out of five stars from me.

Her Silent Cry by Lisa Regan is the sixth in the Detective Josie Quinn series.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Series Background:    (Warning – May contain spoilers from previous books)
Once Acting Chief of Police, Josie Quinn is now doing what she is best suited for. She’s back to being a detective and happy. She is learning to love her new-found family, but it is keeping her busy. So is dating Detective Noah Fraley.

My Synopsis:   (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)

Seven-year old Lucy Ross disappears from the carousel while her mother Amy rides the horse right in front of her.  Her father, on his cell phone while waiting for them, sees nothing.   Detective Josie Quinn, who is also at the park with Misty's 3-year old son, sees nothing either.  However, she quickly gets the police involved to search for this young child.  With cell phone pictures and videos from others in the playground turning up nothing, how could this child just disappear?  Did she wander away on her own, or was she taken? But how?

When the family gets a call from their nanny, the voice on the other end proves to be that of the kidnapper.  The nanny is found dead.  And so it goes, the kidnapper is playing a game, and Amy seems to be the ultimate target.  What is it about Amy that has angered this man so much that he wants to hurt her so bad by taking everything she loves?   What is she hiding?  More will pay the price before they even have a chance of finding Lucy.

My Opinions:

Josie is a strong and likable female character, and I like how she defended her ideas when her boss questioned them.  The characters are getting depth.  I am glad that the mess with Luke is in the past, which as far as I am concerned should not have been in the last book at all, and then I wouldn't have been forced to read about it again....as far as I am concerned it was out of character for Josie.

The plot was interesting and held my attention from beginning to end.  Although fairly evident, it was interesting how Amy's back-story was told without it being stated as to what those chapters were.  There was a lot of action, and it was a fast read.

This series continues to deliver, and I am looking forward to more of Josie!

Another great book from Lisa Regan. This series is so good and keeps getting better and better.
Josie is at the park when a girl goes missing and soon she’s knee deep in the case.
Noah and the rest of the team are there for Josie but when it’s clear it’s an abduction, the FBI are called in.
Lucy’s parents are beside themselves with worry and when they get a message from the person who has her, they don’t know what to do.
Each time a phone call comes in someone is killed so they start to worry whether Lucy is still alive.
It soon comes to light that Lucy’s mum has some things she’d rather keep to herself but Josie is determined to get to the bottom of it.
The story builds up to a nail biting conclusion that had me on the edge of my seat.
This is a fantastic series and I can’t wait for the next book.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

I started reading the Josie Quinn series at book 4 (Her Final Confession) and I've been hooked ever since. Just like the others I read in the series, Her Silent Cry is unputdownable! It's gripping, it's intense and it's absolutely genious. I don't think I can love a series as much as this one.

Just like everyone else (I assume), my favorite character has to be Josie. She's definitely a strong and determined person. She gives all her focus and energy towards her case, even if she has to do things outside the box sometimes. I also love how the author pictures all the other main characters as smart, strong and simply badass! Everyone of them has a history but they all show up and put in their 100% to solve the cases they are faced with.

This book evolved around the disapearance of a 7 year old girl, which is every parents' worst nightmare. Being a parent myself, I don't particularly like reading about kids being kidnapped but this one was an exception. There's just something about the author's writing that will have me reading whatever she comes up with.

The plot was twisted and kept me intrigued the whole way through. You really have to read the author's works to know just how fantastic it is. I give this one all the stars! Can't wait for Book 7!

Not my favourite book but still a welcome addition to this series.

This is a police procedural book about a child abducted in daylight.
This was a little different to the other books in the series. The crime wasn’t linked to the main characters personal life.

This is a good paced satisfying read.

Her Silent Scream by Lisa Regan
Detective Josie Quinn #6

Well written police procedural that sees Josie and her team looking for an abducted child plucked from a park. Lucy was on the carousel and then she wasn’t. Where did she go? Did she go willingly and if so, why? Many questions arise as the story unfolds and the race to save Lucy is paramount for the police force and the FBI team that comes to help.

This is not an easy book to read. Lucy was taken and whether or not she would survive was an unknown till the end. Lucy’s mother had secrets that impacted the situation – I really felt sorry for Amy. Josie, from what I picked up, also had a backstory that included being kidnapped and raised by someone other than her own family but missed that book and her meeting up with her family after considerable years. Many were murdered by Lucy’s kidnapper in his attempt to torture Lucy’s mother. It was convoluted and all became clear by the end. I felt sorry for the kidnapper in some ways but in others wish he could have been a better person in spite of his past.

This book was in many ways a straightforward police procedural with a bit of romance on the side and much teamwork by the police.

* Did I enjoy this book? Yes...eventually...had trouble getting into it and am not sure if that is because I had not read previous books or if perhaps I was not in the mood for this type of book today...not lighthearted and I might have preferred something easy-reading instead.
* Would I read more by this author/in this series? I believe I might.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Detective Josie Quinn is at the playground one day and hears panicked parents screaming that they cannot find their seven-year-old, Lucy Ross. Lucy and her mother are on the merry-go-round, and Lucy's father is off the the side, busy on his cell phone.

Josie starts searching right away and quickly spots Lucy's backback, which was described by her frantic mother. Shockingly, there is a message inside of the backpack, and it says for them to answer their phone, or else their daughter might die..

Both Josie and her team, as well as the FBI search high and low for Lucy. With eerie phone calls and tragic murders, hope is something difficult to come by. Will Lucy's parents ever see her again? As things progress, secrets are revealed when it comes to the parents, but there is also something that personally affects Josie.

I have read most of the books in this series so I am quite familiar with Josie, her team, and her family. Although they are all in this book, the focus is on the case at hand. So, those who have not read the previous titles should have no problem finding themselves quit engaged in this story. Her Silent Cry was a one-sitting read that kept my interest from the very beginning, and the ending definitely made me catch my breath! I cannot wait to see Josie in action again.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.
