A lovely story of a mother to her cub. Explaining that her cub was brought to her from God and that she is very special because of this. Explaining that no matter what life or others throw at them they would always have each other. Being a mother I love this book, I am not religious but my daughter is. the artwork was very cute. it was colorful and fairytale-like.

A Parent’s love for their child is descriptively outlined in this delightful book by the master wordsmith, Lucado. Illustrations joyfully abound as cheerful bear characters portray a mother lovingly caring for her growing child. It details how our Heavenly Father’s love for us is so great that He intricately creates our every feature only to then carefully select the perfect set of human parents to entrust us into their care for a life on earth. However, we are assured of a life free of sickness and grief, with God and our loved ones in Heaven if we don’t forsake the Lord in our lives. Just in case you wonder, this story is a superb presentation of love and devotion to be shared with elementary age children. It shouldn’t be missed by any parents, but is especially recommended for parents wishing to instill a grounded foundation of faith in their child from a young age. This is must-read for your child’s bookshelf!

I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

This is a beautifully illustrated book that has been re-illustrated and is being re-released.
The illustrations are so adorable and touching and the story is very encouraging for a child who has worries about death or loss or feelings of being alone. The only part I was unsure of was the ending as I felt as though it ended pretty abruptly and it felt like the parent was possibly going to die, but that may just be my interpretation of the ending.
My daughter has recently been asking about death and heaven so I will definitely be sharing this book with her.

This beautiful story excels because of the words and the colorful illustrations. It gives a feeling of gentleness, peace and most of all, love. The future is bright no matter what comes because the parent is always there with love to give. This is a book for all current and future generations of children.

This is the perfect track to put on a bedtime playlist for my little ones! The narrator has that calming voice that really carries Lucado's precious words perfectly.

Such a cute book and conversation to have with your children. Lacked any kind of storyline, so it’s probably appropriate for 3 and under. Lovely illustrations.

Max Lucado always has inspirational stories. You feel a little better about yourself after having read them. This one felt like it is best for someone dying, but still a great story.

A welcome new edition of a classic Lucado picture book. I like the use of animals for the illustrations as it makes the book more universally applicable.

I was given this book by Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Just in Case You Ever Wonder is a beautifully written book about our uniqueness and God's love for us. The story is told by a Momma Bear to her cub. She describes to her little one how God made us each differently from the other. Each special to God, loved by God. She also tells the cub that no matter what, she will always be there, always love him, and never stop being there for him. The book lets us know that God's love for us is eternal and let's the parents know that we should always teach our children to love God, to live a life for God.

The illustrations were as beautiful as the story. One of my pet peeves with childrens books is having illustrations that do not match the story being told. Young children follow the story by looking at the pictures. In this case, the illustrations follow along perfectly. I would expect no less from Max Lucado as I've read several of his books and been impressed with each and every one.

Sometimes we all need that little extra reminder that our guardian will be there, and if they arent, then God is. Beautifully written. My 5 yr old loved it. The artwork is nicely done as well. Highly recommend

Loved this orphan-inspired book. The words feel comforting for the most part. Would suggest an “if” instead of “when you hear noises in your closet” or “when you see monsters ... “

This is a sweet and lovely book about a parent’s love, and God’s love, for a child. Max Lucado is a talented writer for adults, and his lyrical writing is perfect for this picture book. A warm and comforting assurance to a child of unconditional love, it will make a terrific bedtime story or a wonderful baby gift.

Just in Case You Ever Wonder

by Max Lucado

illustrated by Eve Tharlet

A gifted storyteller for both adults and children and known as “America’s Pastor,” Max Lucado has a way with words and thoughts. In Just in Case You Ever Wonder, Lucado has captured some of the most important truths of reassurance in the Bible in a book he wrote for and dedicated to his daughters many years ago. In this newly published version, Eve Tharlet created soft and welcoming illustrations that feature bears as the characters instead of people. I am enchanted by this book that talks about God’s love and the parent’s love for his child. It provides reassurance for a child that both God and the parent will always support and love the child through good times and bad. The bad times are age appropriate—monsters in the dark, bullies, and bad days at school. It skirts the issue of death while describing the promises of heaven. I think every home with small children should have a copy: it will indeed be a favorite bedtime story.

I would like to extend my thanks to netgalley.com and to Thomas Nelson for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Memorable Lines:

The same hands that made the trees and the moon and the sun made you. That’s why you are so special. God made you.

If you looked all over the world—in every city, in every house—there would be no one else like you…

I knew in my heart God had sent someone very wonderful for me to take care of.

In my family we love bears. We totally do. My older son´s birthday is coming soon and I think this book will be a perfect "birthday card" for him. I truly loved the illustrations but most of all the words. Sometimes I felt the words could be written by a grandfather... or grandmother... a mom or a dad... that is why I think is just genius, because you feel the warm love through the phrases. A sweet little book. It may be also for a girl.

This was another sweet picture book for a parent and child. It does a lovely job telling the child how much they were wanted and are loved and how much a part of God’s plan they are.

I had heard of this book before, while I'm not a huge fan of Max Lucado, I thought this book was cute. I always hated the illustrations in the first editions, full of picturesque stereotypical view of a family. I would rather see these illustrations of animals and different animals at that. I would always want my kid to know that he has a mother and father so love him and will always be there for him. However, not all families are mothers and fathers; there are MANY different kinds of families and none is lesser than the other. Probably the only Max Lucado I will read but good.

A beautifully illustrated book with a beautiful and profound message. A book about love, about family, and about God.

This book manages to cover very deep topics without being pretentious. It is a story about a parent bear explaining to the baby bear how unique and special it is, and how much it is loved since the day it was born. The language is simple yet beautiful. It is easily understood and still manages to put into words the unique love a parent has for their child. It sounds like your average mommy-and-daddy-love-you-book but it’s not. I personally could relate to it so much.

The book also mentions where God fits into all this and that he loves and cares for the child with the heart of a parent. It also talks about heaven and what it will be like there in child appropriate language.

And if all this still doesn’t convince you, I'm sure the amazing illustrations will win you over.

Thank you NetGalley for a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
