Sigh! Jac O'Keeffe's compelling, well-drawn story is not for me. I can see it having a great deal to offer brave spiritual seekers courageous enough to risk it all, to keep pushing and experiencing and growing, developing, and deepening through their journey. At this time, I can appreciate and respect what she has accomplished, but cannot continue walking alongside her. What I did gain in thirty pages of reading is immense admiration and a frequent "Go, you!" as she encounters and faces and keeps on delving, developing, and expanding her consciousness.

I couldn't read this book. I didn't get where the author was going, and there were so many self-glorifying phrases that I was putting it down over and over again. Clearly, it is a matter of style, which didn't work for me.

This was a great read on ways to get past anxiety, fear and compulsions. I found it to be easy to understand for any reader, despite their familiarity with any of the methods used in the book. Highly recommend!

Jac O'Keeffe's book is not for everyone. How to be a Spiritual Rebel is for serious researchers of their own psyche. It encourages readers to face their programming and strip it layer by layer. Jac's exercises can be sometimes very uncomfortable but they are also very very liberating.

The rebel within me doesn’t accept something as true without checking it out first.”The author pulls you right in with the story of her childhood and how it impacted her and her siblings into adulthood and led to her discovery of spirituality. The author claims she moved away from external influences to the internal territory of her mind and led her to become a spiritual rebel. I would not consider following ones own spiritual nature as being a rebel but I understand the point the author is trying to make. Too often, people focus on the thoughts and beliefs of others and what they might think, and so ignore their gut feelings and intuition in favor of following the crowd and ignoring their own better judgement. “Freedom is an inside job, let it shine from the inside out.”

“Your attention is a microphone. Where you are directing and applying amplification?” A great question posed by the author and supporting of the book’s application in your own life. What I appreciated about this book is the holistic approach to finding freedom from the social, cultural and spiritual constraints of the outside world.

What i really liked about the book is that it consolidated several topics from key business and meditation books out there and included much of the information here as a holistic approach.

This book teaches us how to live "outside of" our thoughts, beliefs and stories--which make up what scientists now call the "Default Mode Network"(DMN) in our brains, or simply, the "me/self" that we think we are. O'Keeffe offers us practical exercises in each chapter for awakening to all that is beyond our DMNs, and living in true freedom and acceptance of life as it is. As we investigate our beliefs and the emotions that fuel them, we are better able to question our beliefs and see through them. For example, in one of the exercises in the book, O'Keeffe suggests engaging in activities that we deem outside the realm of our comfort zone, to see what happens when we open ourselves up to other ways of perceiving and functioning in the world. She helps us achieve a larger sense of who we are beyond our thoughts, emotions and stories. O'Keeffe gives plenty of personal examples to help us understand what is involved in the process of awakening to who we are beyond our DMNs.

How to be a spiritual rebel is a powerful guide that can help you deal, cope and rebel against fears, anxiety, and compulsion.

The message is very positive and as the title suggests with a spiritual approach. But even though a spiritual approach is being used, it still includes scientific findings to enhance the understanding of the spiritual practices presented in the book.

The author shares her own experiences with the means to express her personal journey, and this way shows that it is indeed possible to live a life where fear does not control us, but bravery steps in and we could become free of anxiety.

I really appreciate the mixture presented in this book, as it is partially a guide and also is an anecdotal book. This provides the opportunity to learn something new and useful, but also the bonding experience by learning about true events and the spiritual journey of the author.

In conclusion, I really enjoyed reading this book and found the teachings very valuable. Highly recommended.

This is a powerful, positive guide to breaking through your own limitations to living with intention. It's a nice mix of science and spirituality, explaining how our neurological wiring creates patterns and habits resulting us being stuck in mental/emotional ruts. Part memoir, part guidebook, with scientific references, this book is quite unique. I found it inspiring, and am motivated to make changes in my life that have felt impossible until now. The writing is casual and straightforward, with a positive tone.

What a joy to read this courageous and inspiring part-memoir, part-handbook on how to navigate the spiritual journey. While Jac’s path of awakening was one of radically dropping everything, she shares practical, grounded practices to assist seekers of freedom, be they a beginner or someone well established in the non-dual who is sensing there’s more. Particularly helpful was her guidance on the alchemical and dual practice of abidance in one’s spiritual nature as well as the art of working with the conditioned mind AKA the Self-referencing Mechanism.
A true gem of a book about living life in fearless freedom. Highly recommended!

Our conditioned thought patterns and habits are impediments to living freely and unconditionally. In “How to be a Spiritual Rebel,” Jac systematically guides us to break down the conditioning and remove the limitations. Using experiences from her own spiritual journey, Jac suggests practices to transcend the boundaries and deepen our understanding of who we really are, and live “…without stories, interpretations, and controlling habits.” This understanding our true nature allows us to live in “Fearless Freedom” and be the loving selves that we are.
