This was a sweet small-town romance with chemistry and misunderstandings galore. I've never gotten the whole you can't date the best friend's brother or sister idea, but Neve and Anders have big problems because of Neve's brother, Jager's, over-protectiveness towards her and his constant warning both of them off each other.

I liked the way Anders and Neve were with each other, I thought they made a great couple, but they both had things to deal with before this could happen, and that wasn't just dealing with Jager's issues.

Anders has no belief in himself and Neve doesn't want a relationship, nor does she want to stay in town. What starts as something fun and secret, becomes much more and both must work to overcome their issues if it stands a chance at being more.

Meet Me in the Middle by author Jacquie Underdown contained some likeable characters within the story. Anders and Neve were a good pairing, both with their own set of challenges. Jagger too had some intense moments. A story with feeling and moments sure to be affecting. This is the second book in the series.

I found it hard to engage with this one. It was very slow going and I didn’t love it. Thank you to netgalley for the ARC.

Meet Me in the Middle by Jacquie Underdown is the 2nd book in the Wattle Valley series, and my first book by this author. This book is a romance between to people who have been though a lot, and don't feel they are worthy of love. I found this book to be slow going, and a little depressing. If you are looking for a light romance, give this book a try.

I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and the publisher. Thank you.

This is the second instalment in the Wattle Valley series. The first novel is Catch me a Cowboy. There are recurring characters but the books are not so tightly linked that you need to know what happened in the first book in order to enjoy the second.

Make-up artist Neve lives with her brother Jager (and how to pronounce that like Jayger or Yayger ?) following two tragic events in her life - the hospitalisation of her mother and her own life-threatening car crash that has left her physically and emotionally scarred.

Neve has a close encounter of the naked kind with her neighbour Anders, who also happens to be a good friend of Jager's. There is a spark of interest and attraction between them and they begin to see each other in secret. Neve doesn't want Jager to know about their attraction and is scared to love again, telling herself it's all a bit of fun. Anders wants something more from Neve and he feels incredibly uncomfortable lying to his best friend. He urges Neve to be honest with Jager and herself.

This book deals with topics such as domestic violence, loss and grief and sexual assault amidst within this family drama/romance. The characters are raw in their emotions and laid bare for the reader. You can feel their despair and heartache and you wonder if they are going to get past their issues in order to not feel vulnerable to fall in love again and trust the other person.

This book is a satisfying read. It as a modern feel to it with texting and youtubing references. It tended towards 4 stars..

Thank you to Jacquie Underdown, Escape Publishing and Netgalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book is for publication 4 September 2019.
