Zoe is an attorney and works mostly with patents. Connor is a tech genius and he and two friends own a company. Zoe works for the law firm that represents them. Connor is introvert, works a lot, and forgets special days. He has liked Zoe for years but never thought he was good enough for her. When Zoe wrecks a scooter, Connor sees it and takes her to the hospital. She stays with him because she has a concussion and needs to be woken up every so many hours. They decide to have a ‘secret’ fling and to have no expectations of each other. But when Zoe reveals her feelings, will Connor screw it up or acknowledge his feelings? Good story with romance, secret relationship, and a geriatric bridge club. First time reading this author and I really enjoyed it. * Voluntarily read and reviewed this for NetGalley * |
Inara Scott is a new to me author, and I didn't read the first book in this series, but I feel like you didn't really need to. The couple in that book do appear in this one, so I might go back and read their book at a later date. This book focuses on Zoe and Connor, good friends who have hidden how they feel about each other because of the complicated nature of Zoe being one of lawyers for his company. If you like both friends to lovers and forbidden romances, this one might be for you. The friendship that starts in this one really is what made me believe in Zoe and Connor. But my heart totally broke for Connor, because he is a guy that self-sabotages because he's so afraid of getting hurt. Oh, poor guy! The two start hanging out with each other more because Zoe is trying to woo a client who is very "boys club" so she wants to be able to speak his language. In exchange, Connor wants Zoe to spy on his mother for him and make sure she is not going to blow her house up with her science experiments. Can we talk about the GPGs or Geriatric Physicist Grannies?!? Connor's mother and her group of fellow retired scientists who play bridge together call themselves this. They are kind of the best! Especially Clara who has no shame and makes everything about sex. I loved that thirsty old lady. LOL! They are all very eccentric, but I so totally loved them and they made the plot of this super interesting. The whole forbidden romance thing was fine for me, because techincally Connor wasn't her client, but it seemed like there was a big deal made about it in the beginning about how they can't get involved but by the end it wasn't really an issue at all. It just felt like it was built up to be a huge thing, but at the end when Connor and Zoe were fighting about what they were doing, it's such a non-issue. It felt like that could have been handled better. Despite a couple issues with the book, I did enjoy it and thought it was a fun friends to lovers book. *I received an eARC copy of this book via Netgalley and the publisher Entangled publishing. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. |
Title: Temptation Author: Inara Scott Length: 400 pages Publisher: Entangled Publishing Genre: Romance, Fiction My rating: 4/5 Summary: The story is about Zoe, a lawyer by profession and Connor whose company happens be to a client of Zoe’s company. As per law, they cannot have a relationship due to professional relationship. However, they still go ahead and have flings without any expectations. Their relation becomes complicated when they both start feeling more for each other My Take: I would like to thank Netgalley and Entangled publisher for providing me with an ARC of this book for reading and reviewing. I further state that the opinion on this book are my own and I am not paid for this review. I’ve been on a light reads reading spree and this book came across this book and decided to lay my hands on it. To briefly summarise it, the story is very similar to the movie No Strings attached. The story is written from a third persons pov. The book is part 2 of the Bad Angels series and m sure to pick up the first one some time too. The characters of Connor and Zoe are attractive. They both have their previous baggage which makes them sceptical to fall in love but they are perfect for each other. The chemistry between them is outstanding. The characters have the required depth in them. They are very believable. The book also makes it clear that while in a relationship, people might feel nobody knows but in reality everybody knows. The descriptions of different brands and tastes of whisky depicts the research that has gone while penning this book. I loved the fact that the female protagonist is displayed as a strong character, having her own opinions and eagerness to learn anything new. I loved the climax part. An apt ending to this beautiful tale. The book did start on a slow pace but picked up the pace eventually. I fail to understand that why did Leticia hide the harmless secret from her son on her experiments. That could have been avoided but since was required for storyline and a happy ending it was put it that way. Overall another great light read. If you want to have some smile on your face this is one of the books to be picked up which is releasing today. |
I loved this book! I have never read anything by this author before or the first book in this series. The chemistry was off the charts and I absolutely loved every single character. Thank you to netgalley for the Arc! |

This is a sweet love story that begins with a scooter accident that throws Zoe and Conner together. They're attracted to each other, but have a bit of a forbidden issue as well as a lifetime's worth of fears that interfere with them developing a relationship. I enjoyed the characters and especially loved the author creating strong female characters that are able to find a way to be successful in both a STEM career and relationships. A female engineer turned lawyer is a great example for young women. If you enjoy contemporary romance, you will want to read this book. It's the first novel I've read by this author and I enjoyed it. I'm giving it four stars because while it's an entertaining story, it moved a bit slowly and seemed to lag at times. |
This is my first time reading this author and this is book 2 in the series. It easily stands alone. It brings together two groups of friends and work associates: Zoe, Luke and Rafe run a law firm and their biggest client is a company run by Connor, Nate and Mason. Book one featured Mason and this story features Zoe and Connor. C has had a huge crush on Z for 3 years but she pretty much doesn't see him. Until one day she is riding a scooter and sees this hot guy and finds its C. The crash is pretty epic in many ways and it opens her eyes to C but she is prohibted from having a sexual relatonship with a client and so the story is a bit of a forbidden relationship. One issue between the two is that they are good friendsand both are terrible at relationships and so its a gamble for them to date. Add in the no sex with clients room and these two have lots of hurdles to follow. I enjoyed this story and all the characters. The forbidden aspect seemed pretty silly to me. You can always find a new lawyer, client or job but it takes a special person to fall in love. This story did move very slowly. I tend to love faster moving stories but this was still a fun and enjoyable story. |
Temptation by Inara Scott a five-star read that will tempt you out and go down like a fine whisky. This is the second story in the Bad Angels series, but they can be read as stand-alone as they each deal with a different set of characters from the same group of friends. I have been dying to get to know Zoe Riva better as she is a firecracker through and through, I imagine if you cut her in half, she would have firecracker wrote through her like a stick of Blackpool rock. She really does rock, there was something about her that just appealed to me, she made me desperate to know more about her and when I found more, I just wanted to know more. Connor is much the same, so much more than you imagine going on beneath the surface and what a mum, she gives Zoe a run for her money in the rocker stakes. Inara Scott just gets better and better with each story I read. |

This is such an incredible series. I fell in love with this group of characters in the first book but in the second book I fell in love with them even more. Inara Scott has done such a wonderful job of making you feel so much a part of what is going on in the story line. I picked up this book yesterday and started reading it and I honestly could not put it down. I was reading it everywhere and even when I should have been doing something else. Connor is my is my new book boyfriend. He feels like he is so much less then he actually is. When you put him with Zoe they both become so much more. They are so attracted to each other and they both think they can have a physical relationship without it involving feelings. They were both wrong. Feelings become involved and everything starts to fall apart. I am so sad that this book had to end. I love everything about it. When you added in Connor's mom and all her friends the book became that much more. I am really looking forward to the next book in this series. I hope the wait is not that long. Thanks Net Galley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review. |
This is Zoe and Connor’s book, Zoe is an attorney and a tech genius, Connor knows they can never get involved! Zoe is a patent attorney and when she’s test driving a scooter for one of her clients, an accident on the scooter lands her in the arms of none other than Connor! Seeing as how Zoe might have a concussion Connor makes her stay overnight! Things start heating up with these two but both of them think it’s best if they just stay quietly friends with benefits! Zoe knows that she can’t afford to take any chances with her heart not with her career on the line. Connor with his background knows he can’t have anything long-term! I was pleasantly surprised that this book was really good I read the first book in the series and I liked a lot also! This is definitely a great series! It’s definitely worth reading, I highly recommend it! Thank you netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me! |
