Granddad Bracey has his daughter, Mary and grandkids, Sally and Peter living with him. His daughter’s husband was killed in a car accident. Granddad Bracey is a retired navy merchant captain. When their mom comes home one day with a strange man and daughter, the kids are unhappy. When they find out they will be living with them because the man is the new husband, they are truly upset and can’t believe it. When their mom becomes ill, she is taken to the hospital as she has been slowly poisoned by her new husband’s daughter. Why? Sally is able to tell the ambulance people what is causing her mom to be ill. As time goes by Sally and Peter tell Granddad that they heard the new husband and daughter plotting against their granddad and the kids. When things go from bad to worse, they decide to escape and end up going to a land no one knows about. Sally, Peter and Granddad go on a quest to save Mary. Sally is after a witch to save her mom. Peter helps as well as Granddad besides the new friends they make. Will Sally catch the witch?

A charming and engaging story that engaged me from the beginning of the story to the end of it. I enjoyed Sally’s personality as she never gives up even on the adventures she has in the story. There are jokes throughout the book. The story is imaginative and quite funny at times. The plot flows smoothly. It’s great fun to read. My only complaint is that it ended so I hope the author will continue to write more stories like this one.

This was a cute story about Granddad Bracey, an imaginative, adventurous grandfather who is taking care of his grandchildren after their father's death and their mother remarries.

I think that this would be a fun bedtime story for those aged 7-12 , but it's fairly long, so it make take a few weeks or a good weekend of reading.

This had adventure, fantasy, and some encouragement for children who are going through their own tough times. I would recommend this book to anyone who has a child in that age range who loves a good adventure story.

This book will appeal to middle grade readers. An adventure story that also helps kids dealing with difficult situations. Enough emotional connections and action to hold a reader's interest.
