So I love a really nice cosy book during the long, dark winter months but unfortunately this wasn't what I was looking for which is a real shame. I just couldn't get into it.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

It was good to be back with my favourite Glaswegians again! Although this is a standalone book, just like the previous ones, we meet the same wonderful characters again, along with some new ones.

What a mix of emotions and life stories there are in this book. There’s heartbreak and loss, there’s love and there’s friendship.

The events all take place in just one day; the day of Caro and Cammy’s wedding. It’s a timeline that just flows so fast that it keeps you turning the pages. The tension builds, as we wait to see what will happen. Will Caro go ahead with the wedding? Will Stacey ruin it all? And in the background, we have the dilemmas and tribulations of other people’s lives, all intermingling on this special day.

Sprinkled throughout, of course, is the author’s wonderful use of humour and dialogue. This, combined with a magical setting, really makes for such a realistic experience.

It’s a book that’s hard to put down, so enjoyable, and one that you’ll be sorry to leave behind when you finish it. Highly recommended.

Wasn’t my favourite romance but it was a great read during the holiday season. It was atmospheric and enjoyable. A pretty standard 3 star romance.

This book was a brilliant read and one that is perfect to escape for a few hours and loose yourself.
A great read.

A lovely book, and kind of a mash-up between rom-coms starring Julia Roberts and the TV-show "24", since all the events take place simultanously in one single day. Ok, it is not the really the last day of winter (to be honest, winter hasn't even begun on the 20th of December!), I guess the title rather marks the ending of a trilogy. Where we finally meet almost all the characters from book one again (whereas book 2 featured completely different protagonists) and get to know how they are doing 2 years later. Only Bernadette is missing, actually the character I rooted for the most, but well.
There is still enough going on...

The writing style of Shari Low is once again great, I love the way how she can tell stories and make characters come to life in my mind. I also liked the story itself, which consists of a bit of "Runaway Bride", a bit of "My Best Friend's Wedding" and two other rather serious themes. And I honestly didn't know how this story will end, which is a plus in a chick-lit book. Only I found the motives for the actions of several characters a bit far-fetched.

But all in all a very good book, and a must-read if you know "One Day in Winter" already.

The Last Day of Winter follows a similar format to the others in the Winter Trilogy. The action takes place largely over one day which is broken down into two hours parts. There are four main narrators: Caro who is getting married to Cammy but has a serious case of cold feet, Stacey who is determined to tell Cammy her true feelings before it's too late, Seb an old friend of one of the main character's family and Josie, wedding planner extraordinaire with a secret she will not allow to spoil the big day.

Well, there's certainly plenty going on during this day! I can't really say too much about the plot because I think it would reveal too much of what happens. But as the blurb mentions a runaway bride, I think I am on safe ground when I tell you that Caro has decided she can't possibly get married which leads to a flurry of tension and activity as Josie tries to find out what has happened and to keep Cammy from knowing there could be a very big problem on his big day. I have to say I was quite frustrated with Caro for a large part of the book. I could understand her concerns to a certain extent but for goodness sake, she had the wonderful Cammy to confide in! And what a lovely character Cammy is. Despite all that was going on, he knew that his love for Caro - and hers for him - was absolute and certain. He was incredibly understanding of the situation and generous in his way of dealing with it.

The characters are really what make Shari Low's writing so enjoyable as well as her skill at capturing their emotions perfectly and making them feel so real to her readers. The trilogy has focussed on many characters with some being in each of the books to a greater or lesser degree. The irrepressible Josie is one of these and the standout character for me in this book. I just loved her zest for life, her determination to see Caro and Cammy have a happy ending, her eccentricity and her unabashed bluntness in the way she dealt with everyone. Her love and concern for others shone through all she did. She might be considered a bit of a rough diamond, takes no nonsense from anyone, takes people as she finds them, would do almost anything for anyone and certainly doesn't hold back from speaking her mind!

This book will take you on a real roller-coaster of emotions. There's so much in it about family and friendship, there's romance, there's drama, there are beautifully poignant scenes, there's sorrow but also so much happiness and hope. In The Last Day of Winter, Shari Low has written a touching, emotional and heartwarming story which is a fitting conclusion to the trilogy.

This book is one of a series. Unfortunately I haven't read any of the previous instalments, so I did struggle with this book and didn't get into it as much as I'd hoped.

This is such a treat and an amazing read for me. This is my first Shari Low book and I am now a huge fan!
A wedding in December, a runaway bride, all set in Scotland – what is there not to love about this book. This is a funny, yet heartwarming, sensitive and a tender read. Shari Low knows how to find that right balance in writing an excellent rom/com that is not just a shallow read, but an amazing read full of wonderful and thought-out characters that are important part of the story line. The pacing is just right and the story moves in 2 hour increments which is quite a creative way to tell this story.
I absolutely love this book so much and will be grabbing more Shari Low books for sure.

This is the final book in the Winter Day series. I really recommend you read the previous books. I had a difficult time with characters, there are quite a few. Set in Glasgow , Scotland, the family is gathering for Caro's wedding but the bride isn't sure it should happen. This family drama contains all aspects of a typical family gathering. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

A really strongly written novel, really good to catch up with characters who almost feel like family. I’m enjoying this author more and more. Always compelling.

Shari is able to intertwine her story and characters into a perfectly woven tale with ease, once again, this is one of the main reasons I adore Shari's work. Every book I pick up from Shari, it is like coming back to old friends, even when the characters are brand new. She has such a talent for creating relatable characters that are always able to draw such emotion from you as a reader. This is yet another piece of art from Shari, perfectly paced and an emotional rollercoaster that will hit you in all the right places. Another must-read from one of my favorite authors!

The Last Day of Winter focuses on an ensemble of characters on a day just before Christmas. On the day Caro and Cammy are meant to go down the aisle, Caro’s past makes her doubt that this is her happy ever after.

The fate of the wedding is further put into question when Stacey returns to LA to tell Cammy how she feels about him.

Josie, the wedding planner needs to sort this out despite being given some devastating news.

Can love find its way within these 24 hours?

Shari, you made me cry again! I am not too proud to admit it either.

Oh, this novel.

First, the amazing characters. Each of them have their own, complicated feelings. All were developed well and nothing with any of them was black and white. Even where Caro is concerned, I felt enormous sympathy and empathy. This is a terrific ensemble of different personalities and they all fit together so well.

Plot wise, a lot is placed within the 24 hours in which it’s set but nothing feels rushed. The description of Glasgow sounds so incredible and it’s set at Christmas so it gave me all the early festive feels.

When I was reading, I’d not realised it was the last book in a trilogy but this did not hinder my enjoyment but it has made me want to go and read the first two even though I now know how it ends. I am not ready to say goodbye to this group yet.

This book is a massive rollercoaster of emotions with twists aplenty. I laughed, cried, full on shouted out at the pages and I fell in love with everyone within it.

The Last Day of Winter is a beautifully written love story that has lots of warmth and charm. It’s about the family you chose. I adored it. A perfect addition to your Christmas bookshelf.

I loved catching up with the characters, who felt like old friends. Made me laugh and also shed a tear or too. Lovely winter read and would recommend .

This is book #3 of the Winter Day series. The book does follow on from the previous 2 books, but can also be read as a standalone book. There is a full list of characters (who they are and how they fit into everything) at the beginning of the story and this is great if you’ve not read the previous books or, if like me, you just need a little reminder!

To be honest, I didn’t know there was a series for these books. I have however read the first book and absolutely loved it and thought it was very clever how all the individual character’s stories intertwined with each other. This book was no different!! Told from different characters perspectives, their stories all linked into each other in some way. Being truthfully honest, I haven’t read book #2, Another Day in Winter (although I will definitely be going back and reading it now!) When I read the blurb after reading this book though it does seem that the characters in book #2 don’t appear in the other 2 books (I’m happy to be proved wrong though!!). The characters in The Last Day in Winter are from book #1 however, so I was familiar with them, remembering the main character, Caro well.

Based around Caro’s wedding day to Cammy, this book takes you on a turbulent and emotional ride through the 14 hours covering the big day. It isn’t just focussed on Caro and Cammy however, with lots of the other characters sharing their own personal stories as well. My favourite character had to be Josie! Not just because she’s one hell of a tough old bird with superb organisational skills (namely wedding planning!), but because her story was the one which had me in tears the most (and believe me, her story wasn’t the only one!!) Each character added their own value to the story, and were all worthy of their own separate story!

The book had me hooked from the very first page and took me through a range of emotions from happy to overwhelmingly sad in one fail swoop!! The author’s writing manages to keep the emotions at the forefront of the story whilst cleverly creating a link between all the characters!! It is a heart-warming, yet equally heart-breaking story which will stay with you for a long time after you’ve finished it! Just don’t forget to keep a supply of tissues nearby!!

Shari Low gives us an amusing yet uplifting, emotional rollercoaster for this final instalment in the Winter Day series. If you haven’t come across any of the previous books, don’t worry you will still enjoy the story here – you can read it as a standalone, but you should treat yourself and read the others too.
Shari is a brilliant, emotive writer who beautifully tells a story that will have you fully invested in the characters from the start. You will go through a whole range of emotions and there will be characters that you adore like Caro as well as characters you cannot abide like Stacey who seemed intent on ruining things – and my favourite character, Josie who will take you on such an emotional, heart wrenching journey this time around.
I love how the whole book written in two-hour blocks, a fantastic pace as so much happens throughout the course of the book it’s so easy to be immersed in the action. Such a credit to Shari’s writing style, I couldn’t put it down.
I think this final instalment is a great ending, very fitting for the characters and finishes their stories off well. There are no real loose ends or parts I would’ve liked to see done differently, The Last Day of Winter is a fantastic read which kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.

This was an emotional roller-coaster ride for sure, by the end I felt like completely drained. Have you ever read a book which you loved, but by the end you are not just feeling physically shattered but mentally exhausted. You feel as though you have run a marathon followed by a family funeral, This is one of those books, it is compulsive reading one that as soon as you start, it will keep you turning the pages right until that final page.
What I didn’t realise when I started this book, and it was only when I saw a post on Social Media, that this is actually the third book in the ‘Winter Day’ series, how can I not have known that? Not that it really mattered much, as this read as a stand-alone. I would never have thought there were previous instalments, now that I do know I will definitely be reading the previous two.
I have only recently discovered Shari Low’s work having only read one of her books before this, and I do have to say that I am completely in awe of her writing. She has a talent of taking the reader out of their warm, safe bubble and making them look at human life in its full glory. She writes from the heart and isn’t afraid to tackle to very emotionally fraught subjects that would give another author pause for thought and she does it with the utmost care and respect for the subject and the characters, I love that, her stories are intelligent and sympathetic, they are completely compelling to read and I am really looking forward to reading more from her.
I love how this is written, The Last Day of Winter is told over the course of a couple of days, and it is centre around the wedding of Caro and Cammy, what should be a Fairy-tale December wedding actually turns into something more profound, more shattering and complex, a day that none of the guests, the participants or the readers will be able to forget in a hurry. Caro you could say she is having second thoughts, her secret past and skeletons which she has conveniently hidden in the closet all soon raise their heads and make a grand appearance, which makes Caro wonder if she is doing the right thing, of this is truly what she wants and more then that if it is what the love of her life wants. Cameron (Cammy) wants nothing more than to marry the woman he loves and he will do all in his power to make that happen, only there are a few things not just Caro’s past that starts to stand in their way.
One of them just happens Stacey, old friend of both and she loves Cammy she wants him, she can’t face the fact that he is to marry another, but can she really ruin another woman’s big day and that of the man she says she loves or will she finally see that Cammy isn’t for her and find someone who truly sees her for the vibrant woman’s she is?
Then there is the wedding planner Josie who not only must handle the delicate and rather confused and complex wedding she has found herself planning, but she must sort out other people problems with a huge one hanging over her own head, she must brave the world with a smile and allow herself to be drawn into another’s mess for a short time, but is that the best thing for her to do when she has had the worst news anyone could receive?
As you can gather it is all an emotional train wreck, but each of the characters personal stories and heartache that they must eventually face is so beautifully written, some authors may go above and beyond with the angst and really push each of the characters’ troubles on the readers so it’s weighs heavy but not Ms Low, she has a real gift for centring the reader right in the middle of the story and taking them on a journey through love, friendship, family and heartache, with the utmost care and sensitivity to the subjects portrayed, this is a real winner, it’s an intelligent and brilliantly funny at times.
This is a fascinating look into the complex and sometimes catalyst relationships between family and friends, there are some harsh reminders that life doesn’t always play out as we would like it to and some exceedingly touching moments that will give you a moment to pause for thought about what you have just read.

From the moment I dived into this story I was caught up in a whirlwind narrative and had to hold on tight to my kindle as the plot passed before my eyes with an exciting and energised force. The creative content shoehorned into this twenty four hour timeline was both mesmerising and impressive and I loved each and every second of it.

It was a pure joy to dive in and rekindle the delights of past characters and meet new friends in the process. It has to be said that the character creations in this trilogy is to be applauded. The mega mix of quality personalities on offer is simply outstanding and the eclectic mix really brought this book alive in splendid glory. I laughed and cried along with this special set of people and read like a woman possessed as the story unfurled at lightening speed before my eyes. I mean talk about pace......this narrative whizzed along as if tomorrow would certainly not do. But my word did it pack a punch! I was entertained with each and every turn of the page. From laughter to tears this book had it all.

The Last Day of Winter is a whirlwind frenzy of delight that I couldn't put down. This is Shari Low at her best for sure and I can't wait to see what she brings to the table next.

If you are searching for a sweet familiar saga to put you in the Christmas mood, you’ll have to start reading this book, you’ll love it!
I’ll let you know from the beginning that this is the continuation of the book One Day in December, you can read it as standalone, but the characters are so interesting and lovely that I would highly recommend you to read it!
This is the story of Caro and Cammy, it’s their wedding day and it seems the moment when the doubts will maybe stop the happiest day of their lives. But don’t worry, because Cammy will have her ex-boyfriend Lia (and Caro’s sister-in-law) ready to hug him in the moments of need. We will meet too a curious man that is trying to repair all the faults from his past. Josie, the vital and lovely Josie has a deep secret, but she has a lot of job to do before opening the box. I know it seems some weird stories without any relation between them, but they are and their stories are profound and full of layers that will make you want to discover more of them.
The story of Caro and Cammy is real and interesting, you’ll understand their situation and doubts, you’ll simply have to trust them to do what’s the best for them… You know you can’t rush love, it has to take their own path, no matter if the ending is not what you want.
I really, really liked this book, but please, I don’t want to know more about Lia, I really don’t like her, can she disappear mysteriously…? I have a lot of ideas, no pain, of course!
Now let’s be serious, this is a story to curl in the sofa and enjoy every page, life is ephemera and we should enjoy every minute we have, that’s why I would recommend you to read “The Last Day of Winter”, it is worth it!
