Some of my favourite characters are back in this story of a wedding that may or may not take place. Lots of humour, some heartbreaking moments and hope for the future make this a great read!

The Last Day of Winter by Shari Low a five-star read that will stay with you longer than just one season. I adore Shari Low, her writing always brings a smile to my face, this story nearly broke my face I smiled so much, but as ever its not just all sunshine there is drama and passion as well. I loved One Day in Winter and Another Day in Winter, but The Last day of Winter was just so much stronger, Josie gets her moment of winter and I adore her. This story starts with a Kabloom and just gets better and better, you will laugh so hard you will have tears rolling down your face. Be warned do not plan on doing anything when you start this story as it will not get done, you just won’t be able to put it down. It has taken me days to write this review as I couldn’t get the words to come out and do this amazing story justice.

When I first requested this book from NetGalley, I didn’t realise it was the third in a series. Faced with needing to read the two prequels, I felt a little overwhelmed by reading three books about the same characters in the same world. However, now I have finished this one I am hoping there is more, I’m not ready to let these characters leave my life just yet. I could keep reading these books until the cows came home. I have utterly loved them.
This book broke my heart, though. I don’t want to say why as it would give a big part of the storyline away. However, I feel like I left a piece of my heart inside this book, and it will never repair.
Once again, we are following four characters during two-hour intervals over just one day.
We have Caro who we met in ‘One Day in Winter’ where she was tracking down her bigamist father and meeting the love of her life at the same time. This time we see her fight an inner battle of whether getting married is the right thing for her.
We meet Seb who is heartbroken from loss but also carrying a heavy weight of guilt. He comes to Glasgow to try and find peace but ends up saving the day.
Josie finally gets her own turn in the spotlight, but it’s bittersweet. We have caught glimpses of her throughout many books, and she is the most looney toons character I have ever come across, and this book is no exception.
Finally, we have Stacey. Cammy’s best friend from his time in LA. She returns for his wedding but are her intentions celebratory or does she have an ulterior motive?
It’s nice to have old and new characters intermingled within the story. I could have lived without ever having to encounter Lila again, who does make a couple of brief appearances.
As always Shari Low knows how to write the most heartwarming and heartbreaking books. Have the tissues ready while reading this one you’re going to need them!

Opening up with a hilarious bridesmaids’ morning-after-the-night-before scene, Shari Low sets the reader off on a ride of laugh out loud stiches, streaming tears. and gnawing guessing throughout the rest of the book.

Everyone in this group of amazing friends and family are gathered for the big event, Cammy and Caro’s winter wedding. But the road to happily-ever-after never does run according to plan and there a few snags along the way. The biggest being the runaway bride!

With the dynamic Josie leading the loveable pack, can she work her magic to bring everything and everyone together before the clock strikes?

Shari Low brings her delightful characters to life with such vibrancy in all their flaws, vulnerabilities and authenticity and challenges them to realistic life circumstances. The reader is totally absorbed, invested and engaged…and anyone lucky enough to have friends just like these lovelies, is blessed.

The Last Day of Winter is an absolute jewel of a story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Aria for the read of Shari Low’s, The Last Day of Winter.

Opinions expressed in my reviews are my own.

I absolutely adored each and everyone of the characters whose love and appreciation for each other and life was blatantly apparent. Josie was hysterical and really brought everyone together to concentrate what is important, love and friendship. Each person ended up exactly with whom and where they were meant to be.

I loved this book! It was great to revisit the same characters to see how things have change. A clever concept of everything happening on one day and what a day! Great read and couldn’t put it down.

In The Last Day of Winter, Shari Low takes us back to Glasgow where the friends have gathered together for Cammy and Caro’s wedding. With the bride getting cold feet and Josie as the wedding planner, will everything go according to plan?

Another excellent book in this series. With a great mix of old and new characters plus an entertaining storyline, it makes for an enjoyable read.

Interesting and engaging characters each with a strong storyline. I loved the way all of their lives and stories intertwined.
An excellently written story.

The latest in the series of a range of books featuring Val, Jodie etc al. This time is Caro and Cammy’s story, and they’re getting married.. Josie is the wedding organiser and it’s most definitely NOT going to plan I can not recommend this book enough, as well as all other books by Shari. I’ve just read the book in a half day on my sun lounger, with tears running down face for most of it - you’ve been warned!!!!
