A great enemies…but not really enemies to lovers romance. The start of some serious intrigue too! Loved it!

I liked this book and thought it was a solid start to this new series. There is a lot of groundwork laid for the series in this book and that, I felt bogged things down a bit. I enjoyed Marcus and I admired his principles. As for Lily, I thought she was OK but she was so weak that she didn't hold a lot of appeal for me. The storyline was well written and offers a good amount of drama, emotions and tension. All together I thought this was an enjoyable read and I am excited to see what happen in the future books in this series.

Marcus Salazar would have enjoyed the afternoon he would have ridden more if he hadn’t left his cell phone back at the ranch. He’d come to mesa Falls ranch in Montana for the most important business meeting of his life. To hammer out a deal with his half brother Devonwould give marcus full control of Salazar media, finally. Then his cell rang it was Devon. He and devon may have opposing views of the future of Salazar Media and just about everything but he reminded himself to be civil and start things in a positive note. He’d simply discover how to but out Devon’s investment and sever ties forever. When the two brothers were kids there was bad blood between their mothers. Later there was plenty of enmity between the two men themselves, Alonza Salazar had passed away last summer after a battle with cancer. Their father was gone and he had been the only reason the two brothers had been civil to each other outside the family business. They probably could have dissolved the rest of their ties without coming here but they were fulfilling a deathbed promise at the ranch before they went their separate ways. For reasons Marcus still didn’t understand their dad had been determined to get Marcus and Devan to this corner of Western Montana. Devon said he had his phone and passport stolen and he was detained by customs in Mumbai. He had a call into the embassy to get help to return to the states. Then he said he should be in Montana soon to finalize the deal to bring on Mesa falls ranch as a client. He could take an extra day to work on the account personally but if devon wasn’t there in forty eight hours Marcus was flying back to LA. Marcus handled the West Coast office and devon was co-president in NYC. The company had been Marcus’s brain child. His father and brother had only signed on for financial support. His father had assumed the position of CEO. He’d been effective in brokering an accord between his two warring co president sons. With their father’s death there was a gap that Marcus planned to fill. As creative founder Marcus deserved the CEO role or leave the company he started altogether. The only woman who had ever allowed to speak for Devon was Lily carrington. She was the most perfectly proper woman Marcus had ever met, not a silky hair out of place. Efficient. Articulate. She’d been Devan’s right hand in the business during the crazy years, that it had tripled in size, she became the COO. She was the antithesis of everything Marcus normally liked in a woman, cool and composed, he usually went for passionate artsy kinds. Yet he always fought a fierce attraction to Lily. Luckily she was engaged to another man and off limits. What had happened with her and Marcus, something hot and unexpected. She wondered why the brothers launched a joint business together with the help of their father. Than again their talents worked well together. Marcus was a creative genius with expertise in the digital media world, while Devon had business savvy that kept the company in the black. Devon had been her friend and direct supervisor for five years, but never shared his personal life. Lily had no business thinking of Marcus in a physical sense. Lily had been engaged for two years to Eliot Winthrop. She was starting to question the long engagement. They had been childhood friends and their families had been close. Eliot had also made her feel like less of an outsider after the scandal of her birth. Lily’s single mother would not tell her family her baby’s father's name and had ultimately left Lily with her grandparents when she is four years old. So Lily hadn’t really felt like she belonged in the world she grew up in. Lily and Eliot had been HS sweethearts. When Eliot proposed Lily thought they would make a good team, not nearly as romantic to set the world on fire, but a solid partnership grown in mutual understanding. She’d always taken strength from the friendship, certain it would grow. But right now with the memory of Marcus’s eyes on her stirring an unexpected heat, lily wondered why she’s never felt she’d never felt that kind of pull with Eliot. Marcus had been drawn to Lily in spite of his concern she owed his brother her loyalties. He’d been able to rein in what he felt for her working on opposite coasts . being here with her in person, when he was grappling with his frustration with Devon, brought an unwelcome fiery element to his emotions for Lily. Marcus wanted to bring the company back to its original goal - giving each account a distinctive voice and image that would stand out from the rest of the media noise. Than the ranch manager Coop said one of the owners had papers from their father and the two brothers had to be together to get them. Lily broke her engagement and told Marcus the next day when he talked of his attraction for her. She’d never felt anything like the draw of Marcus before, it wouldn’t hurt to see what it might be like just once. Lily could almost forget she was playing with fire.
I enjoyed this book. It was well written. It was a good romantic read with some family drama. I ;iked Lily and marcus together and how they interacted. But Lily seemed a little weak to me. I felt bad the way the brothers didn’t get along in the beginning. I do feel Marcus did need Devon in the business for his business marts. Narcus had the more artistic approach and did need to have someone level him and the way he did business to stay in the black. Lily and Marcus had some hot chemistry. I really ;oved that Marcus wanted Lily so bad but wouldn’t do anything about it until he knew she was no longer engaged. I liked the mystery in this book which had to do with their father. I liked the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend it.

Marcus tends to have a good idea from time to time, “after what nearly happened between us in the tack room just now, don’t you think we should consider finding someplace more private?” I liked this book, I liked Marcus.
