Beside the colorful and inviting illustrations this is a great first reader. The Dragon and the family go on a camping trip together. They see all sorts of camping things from campfires, owls, marshmallows and more. I like that the beginning of the book has a list and pictures of sight words to help with the learning process. This is a fun and great way for children to learn to read from a young age. On a personal note I really think the Dragon is really cute and likeable. This is a great book for young children library or a pre school.

Our young friend and his dragon are finding and sharing things that make them happy. This is a repetitive book that is wonderful when young children are learning to read. Each page has the same basic words and pattern; "I am happy when .,,," then a word or short phrase is added and supported by the large, bright, colourful illustrations. I read this to my grandchildren and my 5 year old "read" along with me. There are tips to help beginning readers as well as a list of what the high frequency words are. There are also some simple activities in the back. We used the prompts at the back and talked about what makes us happy, and then we drew and made things out of playdough to illustrate it. For a family who are helping their children read, or a grade 1 classroom, this book is a great fit.

The Dear Dragon books are for developing readers. Each entry has a simple, repetitive vocabulary and tools to help young readers to feel successful, including a picture glossary and additional activities at the end of the book.

This one is about camping. A sample page says:

"I am camping. I see the moon."

The next page says:

"I am camping. I see Dear Dragon."

The repetition reinforces a child's skills. In addition, each page has an illustration that reflects the sentences being read.

These simple readers will help young children to master a lifelong skill.

Another Dear Dragon entry from literacy specialist, Marla Conn. This one, about a boy and his dragon out for a family camping trip, uses good repetition to help with memorizing sight words. Nice illustrations, a glossary, and reading activities to end the text round out another great book in this series for young readers.

This one was a bit repetitive, but it would be good for young kids. Definitely would recommend for those that like being outdoors.

I've loved this whole series, so happy, so bright, illustrations are clear and lovely and easy to recognize. I will be getting this whole series for some family that have little ones.

What a great way to relate to an event most kids experience, outdoors, or camping. Loved this.

I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review.

This was a really creative book! A simple and direct, but fun way to teach kids about the different animals! We loved the characters too! Keep in mind for the adult readers who might not have that much patience that it is a kid’s book! So be prepared to read a few things (and the book as a whole!) over and over ! 😅

Camping with Dear Dragon is a book to teach children about sight words as well as new words relating to the outdoors.

I liked the list at the beginning and the activity at the end. The images are clean and the words are simple for children to learn.

Camping with dragon and his pal is a fun and educational way to learn about the forest and the animals that live there, yes it's simple and basic, that is why its ideal for the age group it was written for.

I'm sorry that this book isn't available for Kindle. I was not stated in the description that this was a PDF format or I wouldn't have requested it.
