I didn't enjoy this one as much as I did [book:Seventh Born|37638142]. I absolutely <i>loved</i> the first book, so I was really looking forward to this one. Unfortunately, this just didn't hit me right. A lot of it felt predictable to me, especially the climax near the end. For most of this book I was teetering between loving it and finding it "meh". The beginning just didn't draw me in, so it took a lot of buildup for me to become invested in Sera all over again. I do love how Sera and Barrington both grow as characters by the end of this though. It definitely made up for the sluggishness I felt at times. There are scenes in the beginning and middle that I liked though, which is why I rated it the 4 stars. I still enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as the first.
