I've long been a subscriber of the author's blog as I enjoy his writing and trust his wisdom and insight in financial and retirement matters, all based on biblical principles.

As expected, this book is well written and offers the information and guidance that I feel all christians who are planning for their retirement should read. I like that both the spiritual aspects of retirement and the financial are touched on.

One point to note is that if you don't live in the USA, some of the areas such as social security, Roth IRA, medicare might not apply, though there may be similarities where the principles may still apply.

This book is written by a Christian financial specialist, as well as being a recent retiree himself. But unlike a lot of other financial planning books I have read, Cagle does not make the reader feel foolish or a loser if they don't have a million dollars already set aside for themselves.

Cagle first looks at how our modern world defines retirement and then compares that to a review of the biblical outlook on retirement. And, of course, the Bible knows nothing about retirement as presently experienced in the Western world. In Part Two, the author gets more into the numbers and wise strategies of preparing for and beginning to set your financial house in order. Then, in Part Three, Cagle emphasizes how to live out your retirement in a manner that demonstrates a trust and dependence on God, while also looking for various ways to continue to serve Him and mentor younger people.

This book is extremely practical and easy to understand for even clueless financial people like myself! Again, I found this book to be an encouragement even though I do not have a retirement nest egg personally. Highly recommended!

As Americans, we view retirement as our opportunity to relax and enjoy the fruits of our labors-reaping the rewards of our years of hard work and planning. But this book challenges us to look at retirement from a different perspective. Written from a Christian viewpoint, Re-imagine Retirement asks the reader to consider how his/her retirement days and savings can be used to bless others, which in turn also blesses him/herself. Drawing on the teachings of several well-known Christian financial experts, this book offers a powerful alternative way to look at the retirement years and how to truly live one's most rewarding years of life.

Thanks go to NetGalley and B&H Books for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
