No one bakes sweets like Christiana Kurtz, and her empty bake stand every day proves it. People come from all over to buy her goods, many times coming to her house during their dinner to buy pies or cakes.

When Christiana visits her cousins at the Bird-in-Hand market tell her of a booth opening up, Christiana approaches her extremely strict father about opening up her bake stand in the market booth. She has to talk really hard to convince her father about moving to the market and the benefits it will bring her family to only be open three days a week. She will have more time to help out at home while she does her baking in between chores, and no more after hours visits from customers.

The Bake Shop is Amy Clipston's newest book and the first of a series taking place in the marketplace. I think the coming books in the series will be about Christiana's cousins who already have booths in the marketplace.

In the booth next to Christiana's is Jeff Stolzfus, maker of gifts in leather and wood. It's not long before they notice each other and find that there is something more than friendship between them. The only fly in the ointment is Christiana's father's attitude.

Amy is one of the best Amish fiction writers around. I will read her books (along with Kathleen Fuller's) any time I get a chance. They are fun, engaging, intriguing, and altogether consuming. This is a five star book, with two thumbs up, and a homemade whoopie pie.

My thanks go to Zondervan Fiction and NetGalley.com for providing the galley I read for this review.

I always enjoy reading Amy Clipston’s books. The bake Shop was a great book to read. Christiana touched me and so many ways. Even when she thought she was right, she took the time to listen to other’s views. She had a hard time with Jeff in the beginning but didn’t completely give up on him.

I enjoyed reading about the two of them and Christiana’s drive for her bake shop. She has a strong bond with her cousins and it was fun reading about it.

If you a looking for a great book, I definitely recommend reading The Bake Shop

5 Stars: 5/5 stars

I fell in love with Christiana and Jeff's story and characters! I was rooting for them from the moment the bumped into each other! Coffee and donuts brought them together, you could say, but will they stay together? They have some obstacles to overcome. Will their family prove to be one of their biggest supporters or biggest obstacles?

I am now ready for book two in the series!!! I hope the author has her writing fingers working fast cause I know I can hardly wait and I'll bet other readers will feel the same.

The Bake Shop by Amy Clipston is an easy to read Amish romance. I am a huge fan of Clipston and this story did not disappoint.
The love of family shows through, as does the daily problems that life deals not only the English, but also the Amish.
I was given an ARC by NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review.

This sweet Amish story was entertaining to read. I loved the setting of the story being in the Amish marketplace, and just reading about those delicious desserts from the “Bake Shop” was enough to make me want to visit a real Amish community again to sample some of those pies. But I also liked the two main characters, Jeff and Christiana. Jeff has to overcome his deep hurt and disappointment and learn to trust others again. I admired Christiana’s determination to honor her father, even though it meant possible heartbreak for her. This was another wonderful story from Amy Clipston. Her stories are always heart-warming and that certainly describes this book, too.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Title: The Bake Shop
Author: Amy Clipston
Genre: Christian, romance
Rating: 4 out of 5

Christiana Kurtz loves to bake but using her family’s kitchen to run her roadside bake stand is a bit hectic—and customers stop by the house even when the bake stand is closed. When her mother encourages her to move her stand to the local marketplace, Christiana agrees. She’s eager to spend time with her cousins, have more room—and a little bit of freedom.

Jeffrey Stoltzfus has the leather and woodcraft shop next to Christiana’s bake shop. He opened his shop while still reeling from a personal tragedy, and he knows he’ll never get over it. Now his shop is failing, and the crowds for the bake shop are blocking him even more. Jeffrey’s never been good with words, and everything comes out all wrong when he tries to talk to Christiana about a solution.

Eventually the two become friends, but when Christiana’s father makes a surprise visit to the marketplace one day and realizes Jeff uses electricity for his personalization machine, he forbids Christiana from speaking to Jeff again. Between that and the fire in the marketplace, there are far too many obstacles for Jeff and Christy to overcome on their own.

I enjoyed The Bake Shop so much and can’t wait to read more stories in the series. I’m fascinated by Amish romances—and this one was sweet, simple, yet complex. The characters struggle with their pasts, their families, their insecurities, and their culture, resulting in a compelling and uplifting story.

Amy Clipston was born in New Jersey but has lived in Virginia Beach and North Carolina. The Bake Shop is her newest novel, the first in the Amish Marketplace series.

The Bake Shop by Amy Clipston is the first An Amish Marketplace Novel. I know when I pick up a book written by Amy Clipston, that I will enjoy it. The Bake Shop did not disappoint with the lovely setting of Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania and the developed as well as realistic characters. I picked up The Bake Shop and was quickly drawn into the story thanks to Amy Clipston’s engaging writing style. You cannot help but root for the young couple whose relationship got off to a rocky start. I like how the characters developed over the course of the story especially Christiana’s father, Freeman. Faith is woven into the story beautifully. We see the importance of having faith, the power of prayer, and how forgiveness is good for not only the person receiving it but also for the person giving it. I like the messages or life lessons I got from reading this book. The Bake Shop allows us to see how the past can influence our present behavior. We need to work through our issues if we are to have a fulfilling life. I was happy that there was an epilogue that nicely wrapped up the story. The Bake Shop is a sweet Amish novel that will leave you with a smile on your face.

This is a fantastic start to a new series. I love that Christiana moves her small roadside stand into a centralized marketplace that is open Thursday-Saturday. Her sales nearly triple and she meets an Amish man that has the booth next to her. She doesn’t think that anyone wants to date her and Jeff had his heart broken and is not ready for another girlfriend. I love how these two people learn to become friends and then slowly begin to take this to another level. I loved the story. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

This was such a sweet story about Christiana and Jeff. Christiana is having such good luck with her bake stand at home, she feels its time to expand and get new customers by opening a booth at the local market. She soon meets Jeff, who runs a leather and woodcraft shop at the market. They begin a friendship that soon becomes tumultuous and suddenly realize that may be there's more to their relationship than just being friends. Will Christiana and Jeff be able to overcome some of the obstacles that prevent them from moving their friendship forward or will they decide its not worth the effort?

The Bake Shop by Amy Clipston
Return to Lancaster County with the first installment of Amy Clipston's charming new Amish Marketplace series.
Christiana Kurtz loves to bake, but when her bake stand becomes too busy, her mother encourages her to move her business to the local market. Her new bake shop becomes so inundated with customers that the line blocks the leather and woodcraft shop next door, which is run by Jeffrey Stoltzfus. When Jeffrey complains that her stand is driving away business due to the lines, she complains to him that his personalization machine smells. Though their relationship starts off on bad footing, they eventually forge a friendship.
When Christiana’s father makes a surprise visit to the market, he is upset to find that Jeffrey uses the building’s electricity to personalize his items. He tells Christiana that Jeffrey is too modern for her, and she’s forbidden from dating him. Christiana is crushed, but she knows she must obey her father.
When Jeffrey’s shop catches fire one day, he puts the entire market in jeopardy—including Christiana’s bake shop. Christiana, however, can’t deny how she feels about Jeffrey despite his mistakes. Though the odds are against them, can two young people find a way to rebuild both their businesses and their relationship?
This is Christiana Kurtz and Jeffrey Stoltzfus's story.
Christiana's cousin Bethany Gingerich smiled brightly as she sat at a high-top walnut table on a matching ladder-back chair in her Coffee Corner booth at the Bird-in-Hand market. Sitting on either side of Bethany were Christiana's two other favorite cousins, Leanna Wengerd and Salina Petersheim.
"Gude mariye." Christiana greeted them all and set her purse and tote bag on the floor beside the empty stool at the table. She inhaled the rich aroma of Bethany's delicious coffee. The smell made her taste buds dance with delight. It was no wonder her cousin's booth was so successful. "How are you all?"
"We're great," Bethany said. The other two nodded as they sipped their coffee. "We were just catching up before the market officially opens." Bethany smoothed her hands down her black apron, and her light-blue eyes seemed to sparkle under the fluorescent lights glowing above them. Although she was twenty-two, Bethany always reminded Christiana of a happy kitten with her unfailing energy and constant smile. "How are you doing this lovely Thursday morning?"
"Now, now. Let's not be gegisch. You have plenty of regulars, too, and I do think they'd come here for your baked goods." Bethany looked over her shoulder, and her eyes lit up. "Gude mariye, Jeff. Wie geht's?"
Christiana looked up as the young Amish man Bethany addressed walked toward them. She took in his solemn expression as he murmured a response to Bethany and followed her to the counter. He looked to be in his mid to late twenties, and she guessed he was a few inches taller than her five-foot-seven height. He was clean shaven, which meant he was single, and dark eyes matched hair that was both wavy and curly. One thick curl was falling over his forehead. He was attractive, but his sad expression was what tugged at her heartstrings.
"Do you want your usual?" Bethany asked him. Then she tilted her head. "The special today is cinnamon. Maybe you want to try something new."
"I'll just take the regular roast. Danki." He pulled his wallet from his trousers pocket.
I highly recommend reading.

The author gives us a young woman who goes about her life living her faith, and works hard to help support them.
Then we are given a young Amish man who has been deeply hurt by his fiancée and sure doesn’t want that pain again, but does God have other plans for him?
Enter a man who is deep man of faith, to the point that he won’t bend any rules that might lead anyone in is family from being Amish.
You are about to embark on a journey that is not smooth, and has a lot of up and downs, to maybe bring a couple together.
The pages flew as I picked this one up!

I have read Amy's book in the past so I was excited to get a chance to read this one. I liked Christiana and the relationship she had with her sister and her cousins they were fun to read about and the close relationship was more like a bunch of sisters instead of cousins. I also enjoyed the relationship with Jeff and Nick, Nick was that annoying little brother you just have to love no matter what. When the information comes out about Christiana's dat it broke my heart and made everything makes sense. I did feel like it was pretty predictable but over all a really fun read. This book is suitable for all ages and is a good clean read if you love amish reads or a good love story this book is totally worth the read.

Amy Clipston is one of my favorite authors. Her books are always full of wonderful characters and stories. The Bake Shop is no different. I read this book in a few hours. It was so engrossing that I couldn't put it down! Christiana loves to bake and finally convinces her ultra-conservative father to let her open up a bake shop at the local market. She meets Jeff who has the stall next to hers. Christiana was so sweet and Jeff was a really good man. Both live their faith. I highly recommend. I can't wait for the next book! Thank you to Netgalley and Zondervan for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

A wonderful story woven with themes of forgiveness, faith and family.
Treating people with grace and giving them the benefit of doubt instead of writing them off.
Christiana with a loving family and her business from home.
Jeff was going through a season in his life where he doubted himself and was so distrustful of people. His meeting with the Christy challenged the both of them to let go of their less desirable characters and embrace the truth of who God made them to be. Jeff learn to let go of the past and his insecurities with people and embrace the feature. He had a way of getting under Christy's skin which made her learn to treat people with grace.

I received a copy of the book and this is my honest opinion.

Thanks goes to the publisher, via Net-Galley, for the opportunity to read and review The Bake Shop by Amy Clipston prior publication. My opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way.

I thoroughly enjoyed this emotionally charged romance, an excellent example of why I love Amish romance. Ms. Clipston gives the reader a genuine experience of what Amish life must be like. From the language to the description of the setting, it’s evident she has done her research.

Christiana Kurtz is a delightful heroine. While she has a progressive attitude and wants to establish her business, she respects her father and tries to adhere to his wishes, even though, he is unbinding toward her desires and wants. My heart ached when he demands she break all connections to Jeffrey Stoltsfus.

Jeffrey’s character is amazing. He is such a good man, and while cautious because of his broken engagement, he takes a chance on loving again with Christiana. That is very brave of him to risk heartache again, especially when he discovers how rigid Christiana’s father is. I could feel his pain and crushing disappointment when the man demands they sever all ties. However, he is not willing to accept that all hope is lost. He sets out to prove he is a good Amish man who lives his Amish faith and is worthy of Christiana.

The romance between Christiana and Jeffrey is sweet and is established through their growing friendship. Their emotions are genuine, and their love for each other is clear to me, even before they realize it in the story. My heart broke when Christiana’s father demands they no longer spent any time together. When her grandmother told her why her father was so unbinding was the key to his getting him to change his staunch unwillingness to bend, but only Christiana’s heartbreaking grief influences him to change his mind. I loved how this heartwarming tale ends!

If you enjoy Amish romance with plenty of raw emotion and a fantastic view of Amish life, then you will love The Bake Shop as much as I did. I can’t wait to read the next book in Ms. Clipston’s new series. Happy reading!

Fans of Amish romance will not be disappointed with Amy Clipston's new book.
I couldn't have asked for more. I enjoy reading Amy and other authors that write in this genre. I can count on them being clean, full of hope with life lessons throughout. Amy is an incredible storyteller. As an avid baker myself I was drawn into the story right away. Her descriptions of her location and characters are always carefully crafted. The two main characters in this novel, Christina Kurtz and Jeff Stoltzfus are two people you fall in love with and you can't help but want everything to turn out right for them. Their love story seems very real and genuine. I received a copy of this book from Zondervan through NetGalleys. The opinions expressed in this book are my own.

I really enjoyed reading The Bake Shop, Amy Clipston's first book in her new Amish market series. It is a great setting for introducing new characters and situations.
Christina is tired of trying to run a bake shop from a home road stand outside of the family home. When customers begin to bother the family at home during meals, Christina presents the idea of having her own bakery shop at the local farmers' market where her cousins have their own shops. Christina's father, who is very conservative, is not 100 percent convinced, but allows Christina to have a shop. Before she meets with the market owner she is faced with talking to Jeffrey, whom she accidently bumped into a previous day spilling coffee all over him. That started things out on the wrong foot.
When Christina starts to have a great following at the market and her friendship with Jeffrey is blossoming, things start to go downhill with some monumental problems to overcome. Christina and Jeffrey must trust in their faith to allow them to move beyond all the issues they face.
A great book and a wonderful start to a new series.

Baking and Amish just seem to go together. Many Amish women are known for their baking, cooking, and sewing. Christiana Kurtz is recognized for her baking skills. Her bake stand at the home is so busy that many are coming by morning, noon and night. They interrupt just about everything. When a space opens at the local market, Christiana sees this as the opportunity to expand her business plus keep it separate from her home life. However, she doesn't anticipate her cranky market neighbor, Jeffrey Stoltzfus. These two clash over just about everything. Will peace be found? When her father objects to their growing friendship, can Jeffrey live up to his expectations?

This story finds itself bringing about friendship and romance but also the ability to adapt and change as needed. Sometimes the old ways are not always the best ways. I loved how the characters interacted with one another. I received a copy through Netgalley. A review was not required.
