A good and well written mystery thriller

Although this is the final book in the series it didn't feel like I missed anything. The action was fast paced and I like the strong kick ass woman! There's also different layers to the characters that makes it very enjoyable.
The only thing that bothered me a bit was the many characters and you had to concentrate not to get confused.
Otherwise a brilliant read .

As I haven’t read the other first books in the series, I am a bit confused by some of the characters.
I enjoyed it at times, I liked the writing and the overall plot, but I was quite bored in many moments as it was very predictable for me.

As a disclaimer, I should start by saying I didn't know that this was the third book in a series. I hadn't read either of the first two books in the series, so that could very well be coloring my opinion of this book.

I found this difficult to get into, and didn't really care for any of the characters. But the story was well written, and I didn't anticipate the ending. I'm guessing I would have rated this higher if I hadn't jumped in at the end.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Dolly Rawlins has served her time and is ready to move on with her life. The third and last book in Lynda La Plante's Widows stories, She's Out should be titled LOOK OUT, SHE'S OUT! After the trials and tribulations to get this far, Dolly has no intention of sharing her stash. She must work through and around all the people planning on stopping her from cashing out the diamonds she has hidden. All three books are well written and move quickly, no slow time as the characters show us exactly how badly they want those diamonds!

She's Out is the third book in The Widows series written by Lynda La Plante. Going into this one, I was unaware this was the third book in a series and while I felt that I was missing character development and storyline, it did not deter me from continuing on.

Dolly Rawlins has served her years in prison for killing her husband Harry and now she is out, ready to start her life anew. She has a plan. Grab the diamonds she stashed away and focus on her dream for the future. Unfortunately, people are counting on Dolly: counting on her to give them their cut of the diamonds or counting on her to mess up and land back in prison.

Overall, I enjoyed this story and loved the prospectives of the different women involved. The book felt dated at times, but the story was a gripping and fast paced read.

This was a good quick read that neatly ties up the trilogy. The main character, Dolly Rawlins, is what holds the story together and is the key reason I read the three books. There are moments in the story where you have to suspend disbelief and go with the flow because the plot can be somewhat far-fetched at times. But that shouldn’t stop you from liking and rooting for a good-hearted criminal and her cronies that just want their due. These are strong women and it is a pity that we don’t get to know them in depth. I don’t recommend reading this book if you haven’t read the previous two.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

Thank you Netgalley and publishers for providing me an advanced copy of "She’s Out".

It can be read as a standalone even though it is part of a trilogy. I liked the whole plot in general but I felt there were too many characters to keep track. But I accept that if I had read previous books, those many characters might seem interesting. I would like this one as a movie more than a book I think.

This book certainly lived up to expectations, I didnt want it to end. Well written as always and the author gradually reveals a little more about each character as the book progresses.
Loved all of the characters and the way the story turned.

She's Out is the last book in the Widow's trilogy and follows Dolly Rawlins after she has served a lengthy sentence for killing her husband. This book at times feels like it was written as a script and that is probably due to the fact that La Plante originally wrote the Widow's trilogy for British television. La Plante has reworked thestories as novels and they have been re-released.
Dolly is free and is focused on collecting the millions in diamonds she hid prior to her incarceration. Dolly is welcomed back by a group of women who served time with her and also have plans for the diamonds.
I enjoyed reading the final installment of the trilogy and the ending was a little unexpected in some ways. A crime filled story of murder, robbery and convicts and twists told from multiple POV's.

She's Out

*REVIEW* 💛💛💛💛
She's Out is the last book of the widows trilogy. This story follows Dolly after her time in jail. I accidentally discovered this series, but I have enjoyed every book. This one is no exception. It's an intriguing well written story with strong memorable characters. I recommend for a different sort of mystery.

I love Lynda la plante and found this book as good as any of her other work. Love dolly Rawlins and had fun reading about her new life after prison with all the trials and tribulations. Thanks to Netgalley.

Re read this book from years ago and enjoyed as much as the first time. Dolly Rawlings was a force and a law onto herself. The book was so well written with great insight to how meticulous dolly’s operations were.

Another installment in the Widows series by the author of Bella Mafia (my favourite by far). I have not read the previous books in the series. However, this book is very readeable as a stand alone novel. Author does give enough back story to understand who is who and why.
Dolly Rawlins is out. She is out of jail. She is out of her shell. She is out for... what is hers and her dreams. Do circumstances make a person? Do their dreams do that? Does their past?
Dolly's dream seems pastoral enough - to build a home for lost souls and their babies. However, can someone with Dolly's past and pedigree become pastoral at all? Especially when there are diamonds in sight and every one wants a piece of these diamonds... for various reasons.
Shady cop wants them to make a name for himself and to avenge his sister (or so he says). Ex-madam and her 'girls' want those diamonds to plug holes in their lives and make new starts (or so they wish). Dolly wants them for so many reason and revenge, jealousy and unimaginable pain are just part of these reasons.
Who wins and who loses? Is she really out or so deep in she can't see beyound the next sunrise? You tell me.
And no, do not expect a happy ending. Diamonds won't let you have one.

In the third and final novel of her Widows trilogy, Lynda La Plante picks up the thread of the two prior novels about Dolly Rawlins, who has just been released from prison after a decade behind bars. It helps to have read the previous books in the series before starting this one. In the first book, I won't go into detail about why Dolly was in prison because I don't want to spoil anything from the prior books.

In She's Out, Dolly gets involved with a new set of hardened criminals. She's trying to recover the diamonds that she stashed in hiding before she went to prison. But her new "friends" all want a cut of the fortune, so it's hard to know who to trust.

This book moves at a fairly quick pace. This is an updated version of the novelization that La Plante wrote based on her own miniseries many years ago. It was probably my least favorite book in the series, and I prefer her police procedural books. This one reminded me of a Martina Cole book, even though it was originally published long before Cole became the queen of the East End sagas.

She’s Out pleasantly surprised me. It mainly follows Dolly Rawlins, convicted for the murder of her husband, mobster Harry Rawlins, as she’s released from prison. Her fellow recently released prisoner Ester gets wind of Dolly’s release and gets a crew of former inmates together to welcome Dolly, and subsequently, plot to get a cut of the diamonds she’s rumored to have stashed.

The book is fast-paced and not overly predictable. The plot changes gears a number of times, and just when you think you know where it’s going, it switches again. The premise reminded me of the Ocean’s series. I liked the style and how it alternated perspectives between each of the women involved.

Going into the book I was unaware that it had previously been a tv series in the 1980s. It was recently reworked as a novel by author Lydia LaPlante.

I read widows by the same author, of which this book is a sequel to and I really enjoyed that novel

However, I really struggled to get into this book. I did not find there to be much of a storyline and did not really care for any of the characters

There were a lot of typos in the book also

Unfortunately this book just was not for me. Sorry!!!

I usually love books by Lynda La Plane such as Prime Suspect which was made into a mini series which was great. I loved the movie Widow's Revenge and the first two books also. But this third installment left me wanting for more. Felt like it was a a forced book so to speak. Didn't love the characters and had a heard time reading it. In all honesty I couldn't finish it. I received this ARC from net galley for an honest review and I hate giving bad reviews but this is how I felt. I love her other books but this one was a chore for me to read.

This is book 3 in the Dolly Rawlins series. I don’t believe you need to read the first two books to get all the background information because it seems as it comes up enough throughout the story.

I honestly have mixed feelings about this book. There are a lot of characters, and it’s difficult to keep track of all of them; some of them have little to do with anything, and it would have been nice if they weren’t included. The main character, Dolly, is a difficult, bossy woman, and yet at times, the author reveals a softer side to her. The other women, ex-prisoners, who had planned to steal from Dolly find themselves working for her instead. Astonishingly enough, they go along with this, and it is surprising to me and at times unrealistic, the things they are willing to do. The ending was a surprise, and a bit disappointing.

I know the author tried to have these woman come across as tough ex cons, and therefore made them seem very coarse at times, but I could have done without all the sex scenes and bad language.

Overall, It’s an ok book.

Lynda La Plante is a good author. This book has a slow start, but it did pick up. Enjoyable characters and good storyline.

I first discovered Lynda La Plante when I became a fan of the wonderful Prime Suspect series starring Helen Mirren. I did some research and read some of her books which I liked but nothing as much as Prime Suspect.
When Netgalley provided me with the opportunity to read her latest book She's Out, I jumped at the chance.

But strange things happened. As I read the first couple of chapters, I thought to myself that I know this story. It was a movie last year called Widows. It turns out that La Plante had a popular BBC series called Widows and it was the precursor to the movie. About a third of the way through, I decided that the book was really a script. It didn't read like a novel at all. I found it amusing, very fast paced, too fast for a good mystery. Nothing was believable but that's part of the fun of quirky novel/movies like this.

I think La Plante is a better writer than this book. Either she or someone suggested she put this out to finish the story that she started on BBC. Maybe the series has already been there, I don't have access to it. Maybe she's gearing up for another script that would follow up the movie Widows.

But as mediocre as the book is, there is no doubt that Ms La Plante knows a good story and quirky characters galore to run around doing crazy things. I hope this is a movie. I'll look forward to it.
