A Wedding for the Spitfire Girl is a book I was looking forward to. I liked the other books I reviewed in the series. Fenella J Miller creates a good atmosphere. I was so glad to see Ellie get married, as I was wondering whether and when she would. She joins the ATA too. I was glad to see her still very involved with the planes.

Thanks to Fenella J Miller and Aria for my eARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

Ellie Simpson’s helping her country to win the war, with all the male pilots defending the English skies and they need women pilots like herself to ferry damaged and new planes around England. Ellie and her friend Amanda are members of the ATA or Air Transport Auxiliary and are stationed at Hamble.

Ellie’s still getting over losing her fiancée Gregory Dunlop, work keeps her busy and she doesn’t want to get her heartbroken again. Squadron Leader Jack Reynolds lost a hand in action Africa, he still wants to serve his country and he’s also helping by flying planes around England, he lives in a pub and his landlady Vera takes good care of him.

With her grandfather Sir Reginald Humphrey being a fascist, it causes problems for Ellie's family and her brother George comes under investigation. He’s cleared, he’s married to Fiona and along with his mother Charlotte they distance themselves from her father. Jack's still having problems with his Uncle Joe being involved in crime, and despite him having nothing to do with it.

Ellie and Jack develop feelings for each other, the wedding is booked and it didn’t quite go as planned. So they have a second ceremony and this time Ellie dresses as a beautiful bride and marries her handsome pilot. A Wedding For The Spitfire Girl is a story about friendship, war, duty and finding love.
Thanks to NetGalley for my copy and three stars from me.

Another great book in the series and great to be back catching up on all the characters. I love the books featuring the women pilots during the war and the courage they showed and the invaluable work that they did

I would like to thank netgalley and Aria for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Another book packed with events. Ellie joins the ATA and eventually gets married. Ellie still seems to be a really indecisive character and it gets annoying at times.

A Wedding for the Spitfire Girl is the third in the Spitfire Girl series and I loved finding out where the characters are now. Ellie has lost love but will she open up her heart again while fighting the war, dedicated to her job it is more than just work for Ellie.
What I like best about Fenella's writing is she capture the very knowledge of WW2 and it enhances the story.
A brilliant historical read.

This is a very well written book that will keep you engrossed right from the first page to the very last. I enjoyed this book thoroughly for the amazing characters - like Ellie Simpson, who is every bit as capable and skilled as any of other pilots, as a woman I am in awe. I enjoyed that the setting is in the early 40's, and finding love during the most chaotic time in the middle of war is very compelling to me.

The characters were written with so much care in their complexities and in dealing with grief, the war and their family life. I love how the characters were introduced and highlighting the role women played at that time was pretty amazing and everyone should really know the bravery of this women during the war.

This is the third book in the spitfire series telling the story of Ellie Simpson. Again this book starts off from where book two finishes. In this book things are still a rollercoaster of emotions for Ellie. I don’t want to give any spoilers but there are a lot of sad times for Ellie and her family. With Ellie in the ATA and half her family estranged her Dad gets help from the land army girls with his farm. Jack has been accepted as one of the family and visits Glebe Farm whenever possible. After a tragedy will his unrequited love for Ellie finally change. A great series that I really enjoyed reading

A Wedding for the Spitfire Girl by Fenella J. Miller is the third novel in The Spitfire Girl series. We journey back to 1942 where Ellie Simpson is working for the ATA ferrying planes and so is her beau, Jack Reynolds. Ellie loves flying a spitfire, but she is needed to ferry bombers, so she takes the necessary classes which also earn her a promotion. Just because Ellie is flying over England does not mean the skies are safe. There are untold dangers for pilots. Ellie and Jack are so busy working, they get to see little of each other. Jack is ready to commit, but he knows Ellie has not gotten over the loss of Greg Dunlop. Ellie is not sure she can open her heart to Jack despite her fondness for him. What will it take for this Spitfire Girl to risk her heart once again? A Wedding for the Spitfire Girl is gripping historical novel. I found it to be well-written and it moved along steadily. We get to see what it was like for a woman working in the ATA during World War II. I could tell the author did extensive research for this book from the historical details included. A Wedding for the Spitfire Girl has developed characters that are realistic and suit the time period. I love that Ellie is a modern, spirited and intelligent woman. I feel that Jack is the perfect man for Ellie as they complement each other. I have a feeling, though, that there will be a few bumps along the way considering Ellie’s stubbornness and Jack’s male pride. I like the intrigue that was added to the story. Jack’s wayward uncle, Joe Cross may be dead, but his misdeeds continue to haunt Jack. It seems that Joe may have some information hidden that would help the government. The government wants it and so do the bad guys who will do what it takes to get results. Ellie would like to reconcile with her mother and brother, but she wishes to avoid Sir Reginald, her tyrant of a grandfather. It was sweet how the female pilots supported each other and became close friends. I was surprised at how the story ended a little abruptly and there is mild foul language throughout the book. A Wedding for the Spitfire Girl cannot be read as a standalone. You do need to read The Spitfire Girl series in order as each book builds upon the previous one. A Wedding for the Spitfire Girl is an engaging story with pilot peril, criminal contraventions, fussing families, a raging war and a real romance.

Fenella Miller’s redoubtable heroine Ellie Simpson is back in another captivating and compelling wartime saga about courage, sacrifice, friendship and the ties that bind that will go down a treat with fans of Jenny Holmes and Nancy Revell: A Wedding for the Spitfire Girl.

With the world at war, nothing is the same as it used to be. Normality is a concept which is now anathema to millions of people all across the land who are struggling to keep their spirits up and to do whatever it takes to survive and keep putting one foot in front of the other; a feat which is anything but easy. Men and women across England are doing whatever they can for king and country and whether it’s fighting the enemy on the front line or working in a munitions factory, extraordinary circumstances require extraordinary courage and tenacity and nobody knows this better than Ellie Simpson. Ellie is not your average Spitfire pilot, but she can fly a Spitfire as well as any of the boys on the front line. Ellie’s strength and skill is required if England is to win the war and the courageous young woman is willing to whatever it takes to do her bit.

With a job that requires her total focus and concentration, Ellie does not have much time for romance and relationships. She is giving her all to her job as a Spitfire pilot, leaving her with scant time for Squadron Leader Jack Reynolds. While Ellie does not hesitate for a split second to fly a Spitfire, opening up her heart to love and trusting somebody else is much harder than she had ever imagined. Dare she take a leap of faith and put all of her trust in Jack? With so much to lose and everything to gain, will the Spitfire girl manage to have the happy ending which she so richly deserves? Or will the cruelty of war rob her of this final chance at happiness?

Fenella J Miller has written an extraordinary saga that cannot fail to touch your heart and have you reaching for the tissues. A poignant and emotional rollercoaster ride written with flair and style, A Wedding for the Spitfire Girl is a fantastic tale about love, war and friendship that it is sure to satisfy readers who like their sagas full of strong female characters, vivid period descriptions, dramatic plot lines and plenty of humour and heart.

Captivating, compelling and perfect for curling up with on a cold winter afternoon, A Wedding for the Spitfire Girl is another winning saga by Fenella J Miller.

I have been a fan of Fenella's work for a while now. I have read and loved the first two books in 'The Spitfire Girl' series. I couldn't wait to get my hands on a copy of the third book. Well ladies and gents the wait is finally over because the third title in the series called 'A Wedding For The Spitfire Girl' was released on 10th October 2019. Fenella has done it again and she has written another corker of a story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'A Wedding For The Spitfire Girl' but more about that in a bit.
It took me no time at all to get into this book. In fact by the time I got to the end of the first couple of pages, I knew that this was a book I would find increasingly difficult to put to one side for any length of time. So it proved to be. I became addicted to reading this book and I would literally sulk if I had to break off from reading this book for any length of time. If I had to put the book to one side for any length of time, then I would try to find any excuse I could to get back to the book. I made the fatal mistake of starting to read this book shortly before I went to bed. Let's just say that I read into the wee small hours of the morning and I ended up feeling very tired the following day. I seemed to fly through the book (no pun intended). The more I read, the more desperate I became to find out how the story panned out for the characters in the book. I soon got to the end of the story which I was disappointed about. I don't mean that to sound negative but I was enjoying the author's writing style, the characters and the storylines so much that I just wanted the book to continue.
Fenella has one of those writing styles that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. She has created characters that are so well described that they seem just as real as you or I. I did feel that I had been reunited with old friends when I 'met up' again with certain characters. Fenella certainly knows how to grab your attention from the start and draw you into the story. One Fenella has your attention she will not let it go until you have reached the end of the book. The book seemed to develop a hold over me and it was a hold that I didn't want to break. Fenella writes so realistically and uses such vivid descriptions that I really did feel as though I was part of the story myself and that I had been transported back to the time of the Second World War.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'A Wedding For The Spitfire Girl' and I would definitely recommend it to other readers. I will definitely be reading more of Fenella's work in the future. Here's hoping that we don't have too long to wait. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

I'm about a quarter of the way through this book, and it has the feel of a book written to meet the demands of a market screaming for WWII Era set books. I love hearing about spunky women who refused to stay on the sidelines, but this heroine feels weak to me. Perhaps she will grow on me, but right now, I'm not feeling this book.

I've loved this series so far, and this is another worthy addition.

The war is moving on, and with it the role of women. Now in the ATA, Ellie is busy ferrying planes around from one base to another; she loves her job and is glad to be kept busy after the deaths of both her brother and her fiancee. Her friendship with Jack is ongoing and he would like it to be much, much more but she is still grieving for Greg. It's hard to further any kind of relationship when their paths cross so rarely . . .

This third book continues on seamlessly from the first two; it's a wonderful series and I love that it focuses on a different aspect of the war. There is no doubt that the women of the ATA were both brave and fearless, and in today's world of equality it's good to remember how far the 'fairer sex' have come! This author always scripts an easily readable novel with full on information on the war as well as excellent characterisation throughout. I was a bit surprised when it ended a little abruptly though! It's a marvellous tale, and one I really enjoyed. As the end of the war is still some way off, I can look forward to the next book and I can't wait. I'm delighted to give this one four and a half stars!

My thanks to publisher Aria for my copy via NetGalley, and to Vicky Joss for my spot in this tour. This is my honest, original and unbiased review.

Elle has not quite gotten over the loss of her first love even as Jack, a childhood friend, has made his intentions clear. But there are things to do, planes to ferry from base to base, and new challenges to face as the war continues in 1942. With bombers strafing Britain, Jack having lost a hand and now part of the ATA, and Elle finally being pushed forward to ferry bombers and larger planes, the weather and spectre of her grandfather’s treason, combined with Jack’s uncle’s bad behavior has them both under scrutiny from the government.

We’ve seen Elle take charge of her life and her love for flying allowing her to learn quicker and move faster up the chain of command than many others, including her male counterparts. But she’s content with Jack as a simple “friend” his influence and desire to commit to her has them agreeing to a “fake engagement” much to the delight of many in the group. With Elle and Jack finally tackling the issue of their family’s combined ‘treasonous and illegal acts” danger abounds, but it brings Elle and her mother back together – and allows for the family to celebrate as one – the birth of her remaining brother’s child, Christmas and the upcoming real wedding for Jack and Elle.

What Miller does so well in this saga is to connect us instantly to Elle – we understand her as she is very modern and take charge where flying and her skill are concerned, we understand her heartache and concerns, and we know that while Jack may not have been her first choice, together they work beautifully as a team, and their affection is rooted in long standing. Miller brings in other friends, flyers and the atmosphere of war-weary Britain, allowing people to show their true colors, determination to beat Hitler and his threats, and the often heartbreaking tales of loss, struggle and challenges that were faced by the people left behind. A lovely story for both Elle’s part and the depictions of a country under siege, and how that brought most closer together with a common goal, you can see the early filaments that were forming into what has become a more modern approach to women’s roles, capabilities and abilities that we take much more for granted today.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

An awful book which was not well written
It was so slow and lacked depth. I couldn’t warm to the characters and felt this whole book lacked so much.
A poor read
