I loved the cover and description of the book. I love chick-lit books and how it said if you like Bridget Jones's Diary than you would like this book. I agree, this book doesn't have very many funny laugh-out-loud moments but I felt swept up like I was a Londoner.

Alex and Jess are strangers that meet in December and are housemates. Becky, the new house owner has made a rule - no house relationships. Alex and Jess both made huge life choices and are getting used to their new normal. Jess fancies Alex the moment she saw him. After one drunken night, Jess sees Alex hop off with their other housemate Emma. Life and some chances and misses span over the year.

The pacing was perfect. I worried that a whole year could take a while and be boring. The characters and side characters were perfect. I love the little nuances between friends of past instances, or how after some time has passed there wasn't a recap. Sometimes it left me wondering but I liked that not everything was followed up.

I hope there is a sequel because I loved all the characters! I received an ebook from Net Galley in exchange of an honest review.

I was very unfortunately disappointed by this book. I love winter set books but this just didn't do it for me

A sweet and light-hearted read as we follow Jess and Alex who have just restarted their life in London. By no means is this a book with a heavy plot, as a matter of fact it's more of a character study. It's us seeing two characters who are meant for each other come together over the course of a year.

A feel good book that is a perfect read for the Christmas season!

All these opinions are my own. Thank you to Netgalley and Avon Books UK for a digital arc.

I this book was a wonderful romcom. It had everything that could make it a perfect movie. The stereotypical best friends and the flat mate relationship plot. The descriptions in this book were great, I felt as though I could see the characters in real life and be able to pick them out of a crowd. It was the writing style that just didn’t work for me. I hate to say it, but it was such a slow burn it felt like there was no burn at all. I thought that I was going to love it, but instead I just felt like I was waiting forever for anything to happen. Normally, I love a two point perspective but in this book I felt like that was stringing me along. Automatically you know that the two characters are most likely going to end up together but in this book it wasn’t until spoiler alert** the epilogue** that you get to see them as a couple.

Sadly this book did seem to be a rip off of One Day. Because of that I was surprised to have One Day actually mentioned in the book. Kind of awkward.

I didn’t find anything interesting about most of the characters here and I found the dialogue stiff at times. Guess this one just didn’t work out for me, but I did persevere and give it a chance. I knew this book would never recover for me when I read a line about someone’s breasts being like “two scoops of ice cream” spilling out of their dress. Oh my.

2.5 Stars

Jess has just moved to London to drastically change her life, and everything seems to be coming together perfectly for her. She's got a fabulous new job, a super cheap room in a Notting Hill house thanks to one of her college friends, and a crush on one of her roommates who just might be the perfect man for her. Until the morning when she catches another woman coming out of his room and Jess concludes she missed her chance. Alex is also after a life makeover after he gave up his law career to pursue nursing which prompted his fiancee to dump him. But his new roommate, Jess, is someone he can really talk to and he enjoys their long walks around London. He's pretty sure that his friends-with-benefits situation isn't really for him, but he's not really looking for a relationship anyway, right? Until Jess starts dating another guy, and Alex realizes he should have taken his shot when he had the chance. Can these two who keep missing each other finally get to the same place?

When I first saw this book on NetGalley, I thought I had already read it before....but no, that was "One Day in December." I can be forgiven for being confused because the covers and titles are extremely similar, and the plots have a lot in common, too: two people meet in December and then spend the next year pining for each other as they date other people and feeling like they missed their only real opportunity at love until finally they get their happy ending. But still, even with the similarities, I was optimistic that I'd enjoy it anyway.

However, I was REALLY hoping that the London setting and a gang of wacky Brits all sharing a house would give me Notting Hill or Four Weddings vibes, and sadly, it fell far short there. Aside from Rob, the Scottish chef who works odd hours but shows up at just the right moments to dispense words of wisdom in his fantastic accent, few of the roommates have much of a personality. I couldn't tell you a thing about Emma, aside from the fact that she's the one Alex starts shagging. Jess and Alex are friends and are each pursuing their dream jobs so they're stressed and exhausted all the time but...why do they like each other so much? What is it, aside from shared walks, that makes them so right for each other? And Becky, the one who owns the house? WHO is she? No idea. I wanted banter, I wanted goofy but charming, I wanted wit (I wanted SPIKE!)... and it just wasn't there.

The other issue I had with this one is that so very little happens. They basically all muddle around for a year (and a Grandma has a health scare and an ex-fiancee reappears for a hot second) but there aren't really any big events or problems to solve or anything to keep the plot moving. I wanted more of a story in my story, especially if the characters aren't really interesting enough to stand on their own.

So, all of that to say, the premise of this book had a lot of potential but ended up falling short for me. When the author's last name is Curtis, I was hoping for something reminiscent of Love Actually which is perhaps unfair. And I didn't hate it, at all. There were some cute moments. But I won't remember much about it, and I can't say I'd recommend it to others.

This one is a really slow burn that doesn't result in much of a payoff. I didn't feel that the relationship between the main couple was focused on enough. There were so many outside story lines that were competing. The main couple, as characters, were not very compelling. What makes the male protagonist so great? The female protagonist was fleshed out a bit more, but you have to wonder why she's so hung up on the male protagonist. It was a fine story, but I wish the main couple had more interactions with each other.

LOVED THIS BOOK!! Just the type of romancey read I was in the mood for. I found this book to be extremely enjoyable with excellent characters and wonderful writing. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Jess is turning over a new leaf by taking a new job in London and moving into a house inherited by one of her friends. The rent is cheap but there is a catch: no romance is allowed between the roommates! Jess thinks this won't be a problem, until she meets Alex. He's also pivoting his career from law to nursing and as Alex shows Jess around the city they grow closer....but rules are rules, aren't they?

A fun, holiday romance that takes you on a walking tour of London as we live vicariously through a year in Jess and Alex's lives. A great bet as a holiday gift for a friend or for yourself so you can sneak away and enjoy it during some quiet time of your own during the holidays. (Advanced copy read courtesy of NetGalley. Opinions are my own.)

I totally loved the whole Christmassy London setting and living in a huge mansion in Notting Hill made me so jealous. But within the first half of the book, I felt it seemed very similar to the book “One day in December” but thankfully in this book, the lead characters end up together by the end of the year even after all misunderstanding/missed chances.

Though it is a similar plot-line as I already mentioned, I liked the two characters and read through the whole book to see how they end up. Jess and Alex fall for each other pretty much in their first meeting but manage to not tell each other for a long time and end up seeing other people causing more confusions. It is heartwarming and very lovely but I do admit it ends up pretty much similar to most rom-coms. Both the characters are very normal regular kind which makes them so relatable and keeps the reader engaged in their lives.

It is a cute book to read during the winter with a nice hot mug of coffee.

I really enjoyed this read! I love reading about London and am hoping to go one day and this book just made that need even more real. I feel this is a book that is going to stay with me and I am going to want to reread this to have all those feels again.

Huge Thank You to Netgalley and William Morrow for this opportunity!

I had a hard time connecting with these characters from the word go. Then I realized how much I really didn't love One Day in December, which this book seems to be attempting to emulate, so I decided to put it down. Not for me.

First of all, thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow Paperbacks – HarperCollins Publishers for providing me with the ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Despite my obsession with the holiday season, I wasn’t entirely sure if I was on board for a Christmasy book in August, but that didn’t seem to matter anyway since this charming novel merely began and ended at Christmastime.

Twenty-nine-year-old Jess takes a room in a crumbling, but grand, Notting Hill house-share with four strangers where she meets the handsome nurse-in-training Alex. But when Jess returns from a two-week Christmas break, she finds Alex has started seeing someone else—their housemate Emma who lives on the floor above them. Now Jess is faced with a year of sharing space with the man of her dreams…and the woman of his.

I’ve never visited London, however, thanks to Rosie Curtis, I feel as though I just came and went with her beautiful descriptions and expertise of what seems like a fantastic city. Her love for London was evident, as the backdrop was so prominent that it served as its own supporting character in and of itself.

While it took me a little while to get into the actual plot, I felt an immediate connection to the characters and their witty senses of humor. (Frankly, Rosie Curtis has a witty style of writing, as well, that kept my attention throughout.) I am not brave or social enough to move into a house-share with strangers, so I felt I was able to live vicariously through Jess and Alex from whom the story unfolded in their points-of-view. Being close in age, I could easily relate to the characters who were each undergoing major life changes in terms of career, friendships, and partnerships. It’s a bit of a reminder of the amount of growth and development a person has in the course of a year. Jess is quirky but smart, like a friend you feel you need in your life and Alex is hands-down pretty much a dreamboat – smart, handsome, and caring.

However, there are certain things Alex does – call them “episodes” – that made me roll my eyes a couple of times. I wanted to shake him and tell him to have some self-control! It certainly took the characters long enough to come around to their feelings for one another. Every time there was a missed opportunity, I just felt like, “Here we go again!” The ending was satisfying, though. All in all, a very fun, sweet rom-com.

I definitely loved the descriptions of the London bits, however, the characters just weren't doing it for me. I think they tried to pack a lot of people in a short amount of book. I didn't feel any real connection between any of the characters. I was definitely disappointed because it absolutely felt right up my alley.

I love the title of this book! We Met in December is a sweet rom-com that had me wishing I lived closer to London! Rosie Curtis did a great job with keeping my attention with her endearing characters! The storyline was heartwarming and I really appreciated the fact that there was not over the top drama- love that! We Met in December is the first Christmas/winter novel I’ve read this year and now I’m officially in a December state of mind lol!

I so badly wanted to like this book, but struggled connecting to the characters. I didn’t feel the emotions a reader should feel when reading a romantic holiday tale. On a positive note, the author convinced me to check out London during the holidays; lovely details!

4.5 stars. *MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!*

A very cute and fun read about two people in London who meet as roommates but take a little time to figure out how perfect they would be together. The two main characters, Jess and Alex, decide to change their career paths and start completely new jobs in London instead of staying in jobs that were more financially beneficial but not their dream jobs. It was inspiring to me and reminded me that following your heart is more important than doing something just for the money. Jess and Alex spend the better part of the year dancing around each other, both secretly crushing on the other yet seeing other people at the same time. While I loved seeing how they eventually came together, part of me really wishes they figured it out a little sooner and we could have seen more of how the roommate dynamic changed instead of just what happens a year later in epilogue. However, overall I really enjoyed the story, including the back and forth between viewpoints between the characters. Having both of their thoughts really added to the story and gave a well-rounded view of the situation.

I have to say, though, my favorite part about this book was actually the description of London. I absolutely loved seeing London through Jess and Alex's eyes, especially during Christmastime - I actually felt like I was seeing it myself as if I was there for the first time. This is a great read at Christmastime to get in the holiday mood.

A tender story about Jess and Alex finding themselves cursed by the stars. In this low-angst tale, the flatmates have to endure a year of demanding careers and competing love interests before eventually finding their HEA. Although I did enjoy this story, I never became emotionally invested in it. The narrator seemed to allow us, the readers, to hover around the periphery of Jess & Alex's relationship but always held us at arms length.

For myself, what was absent from their story was *how* they fell in love. Time and again, regardless of POV, both Jess and Alex expounded upon their workload, their relatives, their friends' drama, their treks through London, their other relationships—anything and everything, except each other. Both seemed like an afterthought in the mind of the other. Even at the close of the epilogue, I would say that I still regarded them as no more than good friends. I would have loved to have seen more emphasis on the initial spark between Jess and Alex and how that fire was kindled throughout the year.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and Rosie Curtis for an ARC of "We Met in December' in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.
