The start to AJ Pine’s new Meadow Valley series does not disappoint. Ivy and Carter are the perfect set up to what promises to be a slam-dunk series. Their chemistry is off the charts even as they both battle their own demons. I can’t wait for the full novel.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

COWBOY TO THE RESCUE gives us a peek into the beginning of the Meadow Valley series with the first book being released in December of 2019. I love prequels, they give me just enough to decide if I want to continue on with the full series, and often introduce me to the secondary characters who may be playing a part in the series at some point. It’s a novella-length story and this one will have you waiting for the rest of the series to begin.

Ivy and Carter first meet after Ivy’s put out a small electrical fire, on her own, no professional help needed – thank you very much. But as the new guy at the station and in town Carter goes by the book in checking out the now former fire scene. Sparks of a totally different kind sizzle between Ivy and this handsome firefighter – but she’s going to do her best to ignore them. She’s not looking for a man who walks into danger when everyone else runs the other way. She lost her brother, a firefighter, to a fire and she will not risk her heart again. Trouble is, the brain will do its best to protect us, but that emotional heart is wanting what might be the best thing for Ivy, which is to love a good man who loves her back unconditionally.

I enjoyed the introduction to this small town with its quirky residents, dude ranch (where Carter volunteers) and people who will most likely play a large part in the upcoming series. I was hooked by COWBOY TO THE RESCUE and a love story that touched my heart – now I want to know more, and there’s not that long to wait.

If you enjoy a good romance, some emotional conflict, small-town romances, definitely cowboys and a love story that will engage your emotions then you’ll want to get an early start on the Meadow Valley series with the prequel, COWBOY TO THE RESCUE. I had a blast with Ivy and Carter, and I believe you will, too.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Enjoyed my first book by A.J. Pine, it was sweet with a little bit of angst & a whole lot of sexy fireman/cowboy. I enjoyed the slow stop & start to the relationship of Carter & Ivy which usually frustrates me but not this time. The slow growth of the characters was well done & in a sweet but sexy way. Watching them slowly give in to their fears at times was heartbreaking but as their relationship grew stronger I was impressed by Ivy’s strength & determination not to let her fears get the best of her. I also enjoyed the bits of humour that the author created around Ivy, brought a few loud chuckles. Recommend to read.

It’s no secret that I love a good cowboy romance. But a hero who’s not only a cowboy but also a firefighter? A.J. Pine’s novella, Cowboy to the Rescue, delivers the goods!

Clothing designer Ivy Serrano is opening her own shop in the small town of Meadow Valley. But luck is not on her side when a fire breaks out on opening day. As fate would have it, new-in-town Lieutenant Carter Bowen is one of the first on the scene.

Sparks fly between Ivy and Carter right away, but Ivy has a strict No Dating Firefighters rule. Meanwhile, Carter’s working hard to prove himself in his new job. And when he’s not at the fire station, he’s on horseback at one of the local ranches.

Despite their efforts to steer clear of each other, Ivy and Carter can’t deny their connection. But they both have tragedies from the past that they’re each working through. Can they overcome the past and move forward together?

Since this is a novella, the relationship moves pretty quickly. This is a fast-paced story that nicely balances humor, heart, and a little bit of steam. It’s an introduction to the upcoming Meadow Valley series and I’m definitely looking forward to even more cowboys from A.J. Pine.

I love A.J. Pine's writing and storytelling. She makes me fall in love with her characters from the start. This one was a great spin on small town living with a funny twist. Add in some cowboys, and you have a cute story!

Ivy is a designer opening up a shop when she comes to find a electrical fire gets sparked causing the local firefighters to check things out. Carter is a the new guy an a Lieutenant firefighter and was on the job see things out for himself. Carter isnt' interested in distractions being that hes the new guy trying to prove himself and Ivy is a bit heartbroken with the loss of her brother who was a firefighter. So things are a bit complicated.

This was a cute little contemporary book. I enjoyed seeing the romance from the moment they met there was a clear connection now what to do with that you'll have to read on in the book to see. Clearly there is a romance that will brew but there are personal conflicts that make things a bit complicated for the two. Also just want to point out if your short on time and want to read a little romance then you'll want to pick up this book because even if its short it still packs in a lot and will keep you wanting more

Great short read about Ivy and Carter. I really enjoy fireman romances and even though this story was shot, we really got a feel for the characters, their struggles and challenges.

4.5 Stars What a great introduction to a new series!
Cowboy to the Rescue was a well written, well delivered story with engaging, well suited characters a support cast I was left wanting to know more about. This will be one I will be recommending and be in line to read more.

This was fine. Yes, fine. It was a quick intro and set up for the new Meadow Valley series, which I am excited about.

I really enjoyed Pine's previous series, Crossroads Ranch, so I have pretty high hopes for this one. This first book/novella was not as strong as her previous books. The main couple meets and falls for each other pretty quickly. I'm not opposed to instalove but it didn't blow up my skirt all that much either.

I enjoyed meeting some of the inhabitants of the town, mainly the Callahan boys/owners of the Meadow Valley guest ranch and I'm definitely looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

The book has committed the ultimate sin in the book lover's world. This book has teased me and left me yearning for more and it does not feel good either. I want more of this couple and most importantly, I want me a firefighter cowboy to boot. One my favorite authors, A.J Pine, has done it again and I cannot wait until the next book in the Meadow Valley series is released. I'm so excited, can you tell??? Okay, okay..calm down girlie, you have to tell the good people what you think of the book. Okay inside voice, here I go.!!!

Ivy has suffered a major loss and has come back to her hometown to open her own fashion business. Carter is newbie to town looking to place roots and he is also the firefighter lieutenant . Both Ivy and Carter are facing hardships in this small town and they are two lost souls looking for love and connection. Ivy and Carter have great chemistry, but there is a problem. Ivy's brother was a firefighter and he sadly died while saving civilians and being that Carter is a firefighter, Ivy is really scared to invest in a relationship with anyone that serves in job that is dangerous such as a police office or firefighter. I know that it sounds shallow, but once you read the book, you will have a better understanding of her choice.

This book really left me wanting more because I loved Ivy and Carter together. Ivy was feisty and went for what she wanted while Carter had the biggest heart and I could not stop imagining him in his full firefighter uniform. Pure Hotness.!!! This story was about letting go of the past and letting love flow. The only negative thing that I have to say about this book is that it did not have the powerful emotional connection that I was expecting from a book about loss and learning to love and let go. I genuinely enjoyed this book and the writing in this book was phenomenal.! I am so looking forward to the Meadow Valley Series.

I was happy to see that Pine had a new series out. Her new Meadow Valley series starts out with the quick, fun novella.

Right away you get a feel for both Ivy and Carter. Right away you understand why Ivy might not be too happy to get involved with a firefighter after losing her brother. It's totally understandable. It's also understandable that the heart wants who the heart wants. Sometimes it makes your choices so much harder.

Whereas Carter wants a new start and doesn't want to invest too much in a relationship. Both have their reasons for not going after what they each want. Of course, being friends doesn't really help when there is an attraction between two people.

These two start spending time together and feels build. Well, duh!

I really enjoyed this novella. It's a quick read that gives you a glimpse of what's to come in the series while giving you a fun romance. Of course, because it's a novella the plot is light and them falling in love seems to happen quickly. These facts don't take away from the story but do kinda leave you wanting more.

ARC copy requested and provided through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoy reading books by this author. They aren’t too long, they aren’t too hot, they are —just —-right!

You need to treat yourself to this quick read that revolves around Ivy and her firefighter cowboy Carter. Can they get past their internal and external struggles to find their happily ever after???

This was a fab wee story...brilliant characters and considering this was a novella, the characters were well developed and the relationship between Ivy and Carter was believable. We were also introduced to a great selection on secondary characters that I hope will be featured in the full length books. Will definitely read this series when it comes out

COWBOY TO THE RESCUE by A. J. Pine is a sweet small town romance! Carter, a cowboy fireman new in town meets Ivy a dress designer and long time resident. Ivy's father and brother were firemen and her brother died due to a fire. Ivy told herself she wouldn't get involved with a firefighter. Carter and Ivy share a powerful attraction they can only deny for so long.

Carter Bowen is the new Lieutenant in Meadow Valley, having just moved to California from Texas for the job. Ivy Serrano has just opened her new boutique after returning home from spending time with her family after her brothers tragic death in a fire fighting accident.

While there is an instant attraction between the two, Ivy is still too raw from the loss of her brother, and is unwilling to open herself up to the risk involved with dating someone in such a risky line of work, while Carter is adamant that he can't be with someone that doesn't support his career.

Despite all of their resistance, the chemistry between the pair is undeniable, and they soon find themselves falling into a routine, and spending more time with one another.

Cowboy to the Rescue is a slow burn - Carter and Ivy are a sweet, sexy, funny pair, and a great introduction to the new series by A.J. Pine. While this is a novella length story, it is full of the emotion and human connection I've come to adore in Pine's stories.

I am thrilled to have this introduction to a new town and series - pick this one up today.

If you’re looking for a quick, sweet read, check out this prequel novella to A.J. Pine’s Meadow Valley Series!

Lieutenant firefighter Carter Bowen has only been in Meadow Valley for a short time when he meets Ivy Serrano at her new clothing boutique store after responding to a small electrical fire on the premises. The attraction is immediate but Ivy can’t let it go farther than that. After losing her firefighter brother 2 years ago, she won’t allow herself to get close to someone in that profession. The fear of losing them is just too much. While Carter understands her fears, he can’t be with someone who can’t support what he does for a living. He’s already been burned in that department.

But as time goes by, neither of them can deny their feelings towards each other. Ivy will have to decide if she’s willing to take a leap of faith on something really special between them.

I really enjoyed this story and these characters! It’s always a pleasure to read a book by A.J. Pine!

And I’m so looking forward to Book 1 in the Meadow Valley series, “My One and Only Cowboy”!

This was a really good shorter read. I have really wanted to read more of A.J. Pine's work so I just couldn't resist the opportunity to read this novella. This was a wonderful introduction to the upcoming Meadow Valley series. I had a great time getting to know some of the characters in the larger community and look forward to getting to know each of them a bit better once the series really gets going. I was able to read this novella in a single evening and had a great time with it.

Ivy is opening her own store in Meadow Valley. She grew up in the town knows everyone and is looking forward to opening her store and featuring some of her own designs. She didn't plan on an electrical fire but she was prepared to deal with it. Carter is new to Meadow Valley and its fire department. They meet when he shows up at her store after the fire and he insists on going by the book and checking things out.

These two have such great chemistry from the start. Ivy is determined not to get in a relationship with a firefighter while Carter will not let anyone get in the way of his career. As long as they ignore his profession, everything is perfect. I really liked them together and thought that they had a lot of common ground. It was a lot of fun watching them fall for each other over the course of the story.

I would definitely recommend this novella to fans of contemporary romance. It was a really well-done romance filled with wonderful characters. I am looking forward to future installments in this series!

I received a review copy of this book from Forever Yours (Grand Central Publishing) via NetGalley.

This was a short, sweet romance. Carter and Ivy were great together and were just what the other needed. It was a nice introduction to the series and I look forward to reading more, especially if Casey’s story is coming up.
