Oh MY GOSH! I did NOT want this book to end! You know how to set my kindle on fire and made my panties sizzle! This was a PHENOMENAL story. I am so looking forward to the next book in this series!

NJ Walters offers a strong Paranormal novella. The premise of a modern day Phoenix is interesting and the story itself is entertaining. I could easily have enjoyed a full length novel showcasing the characters as they are engaging and strong. If you enjoy a light quick read with some "heat" Rescue Me is a good choice. I'm hoping this launches a new series?
I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation.

RESCUE ME is a novella, so there is a lot packed into a few pages. The story is complete with the characters well fleshed out, and the reader feels emotionally pulled into their lives quickly and wants to know all the who, whats, and whys that do come out in the end. Aside from the second chance romance, there is also a firebug that must be dealt with, and the outcome is a surprise to Martha and forces Frank to finally come completely clean.

Martha is rescued during a fire by someone who feels oddly familiar. Frank is drawn in to the fire, and when he emerges realizes the woman he rescued was his one time high school love. Can he share the secret of what drove him away all those years ago, and can they find their way back to each other again? Danger still hovers around Martha, but is Frank the right person for her to trust?

A second chance romance, “Rescue Me” tests the saying “you can find love in the most unexpected place” to the nth degree when firefighter Frank Ellis rescued his high school girlfriend Martha Benson from a raging inferno.

Before you say, “Of course, he’s a fireman! Where else can he find her?” the truth is that Frank left her 20 years ago because of fire.

That sounds cryptic, but if I say more, it will be a spoiler. Just a hint though, “Rescue Me” is not just a romance, it is also a paranormal story.

This is a novella, but N. J. Walters truly knows her craft. In this very short and sweet story, she also included some police procedural that added excitement to the already hot and steamy scenes. (Pun intended).

This is my first read from N. J. Walters so I don’t know if Martha and Frank will have a longer story. I truly like them and quite frankly, I hope that the author gives them another book.

“Rescue Me” has been labeled erotica but though there were actions under the sheets, its not enough for it to be put in that subgenre. Romantica maybe, but not erotica.

On that note, I will have to say Rate M for Mature due to sexual content before someone says that I don’t take note of book classifications.

I really enjoyed reading Rescue Me! Martha and Frank were intriguing people. I liked that Frank came upon his gift rather suddenly and out of the blue. He had to find a way to understand it and figure out how to handle it.

Both characters had a lot of unresolved feelings from the past to work out. I was glad to see their second chance at love would not be wasted.

The story had potential but overall it just fell flat for me. I liked the two main characters, but I did not get enough details, feelings, etc. from them. I wanted more connection. Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.

Complementary copy of this book was given for an honest review.

This book is hot and powerful! Frank and Martha were going to get married but Frank realized he had a hidden secret. Frank was one with fire. He ran to protect Martha and his family from this secret. Years later, he rescues Martha from an actual fire. Their reconnection is heart felt and powerful.

A steamy sexy smoking hot romance book. My first time reading a book from this author but I found myself hooked to this story. Well done.

I enjoyed this book but I didn't realize it was a pnr and for me personally I have to be in a certain mood to read those. I think the storyline was good but sometimes a little coppy. Over 3.5 stars

This book was a short read.
Second chance lovers meeting again. Their romance is rekindled. The hero, Frank, was a fireman -which was what interested me in this book. I did enjoy it, although the fact it alluded to Frank being a phoenix, I found a bit strange. I'm not a lover of supernatural or paranormal reads, and didn't realise this was one. But apart from that, it was an enjoyable novella.

Rescue Me by N. J. Walters is the story of Martha Benson and Frank Ellis.
Martha heart was broken at a early age when Frank walked away from her. Now in their present day she is caught in a fire where Frank comes raging in and saves her. Frank has special abilities that he thought would cause injuries to Martha because he couldn't full control them but that was several years ago. But now that he has her back in his life he can't let her go again.

Not too many books have a Phoenix as a lead character so that was quite intriguing. I thought the female lead was a bit flaky but as an artist I guess that falls right in line.

A seductive story, that fullfilled a few fantasies. Who doesn't like a firefighter? Good descriptions and left me not needing more. A 'could not put down' book that was well worth the read.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

Cute, second chance romance that was kind of a quick read. Wish there was a bit more in depth as we just scratch the surface as we meet Frank and Martha. There are kinds to what they think Frank might be but not definitively answered.

I would have loved to see Frank research his background and try to find out who his parents were and why he was adopted!

Nice HEA as Frank and Martha plan their wedding and she pushes him to call his parents so there is a reunion in the future.

Frank had loved Martha but his affinity for fire made him think that he wasn't safe to be around so for her own safety he broke her heart and left her. Years later he's a firefighter and Martha is trapped in a fire when none other than Frank comes to her rescue.

When Frank finds out from the fire investigators that several other fires have been started and other women have been targeted, he thinks that Martha might be in danger from a serial arsonist. So while Frank is keeping Martha safe from some nut job that wants to kill her, they get to know each other again and re-kindle their feelings for one another. They never really stopped loving or thinking of one another but Frank has a huge secret that comes out when another fire is set and Martha gets a good look at what Frank can do around fire. He's much more than anyone knew, he can control fire and so much more. He's not sure how Martha will react when she finds out but this novella ended on a sweet note that made me cry. This author has made me cry happy tears in three of her books so far but her books are becoming some of the best reads I've read this year.

For a quick read, this novella was packed with story, action, and some paranormal elements. This was a great second chance romance with just enough twists and turns to keep me reading. I really enjoyed this one.

Disclosure: I was given an ARC of this book via NetGalley but all opinions and thoughts are my own.

N. J. Walters is a new author to me and when I read the description of Rescue Me I just knew I had to read it! Fire is a powerful element. That is something Frank knows beyond a doubt. Leaving the love of his life and his parents for fear of not being able to control his power, he has found purpose as a firefighter. Never in his wildest dreams would he have thought he would come face-to-face with his lost love by saving her from her burning apartment!

Lost loves finding each other again after years are the best kind of stories in my opinion. Frank and Martha come together as if time has not passed. Their passion is hot and lustful which seals the bond they have when the drama happens around them. When Frank finally confesses his secret and why he left her all those years ago, Martha embraces it and together they find their happily-ever-after!
