This is the second book in the Rachel Hart series and is a really solid police procedural with Rachel attempting to manage a new lawyer boyfriend, a new woman friend and investigating a possible serial killer targeting her new friends husband. Glad we are seeing more of Rachel’s back story with her twin sister and the crimes mirror the bonds of sisterhood among women..

Detective Rachel Hart returns in book two of this series. We have more insight into her life which added to her character. The book opened at a fast pace, although it was a bit predictable in parts. The central characters of Maddy and Simon, an ex footballer, are living a comfortable life until Simon is injured in a car crash. As Rachel investigates, secrets begin to unfold going back decades to a different country. The plot was very good and as Maddy is a friend of Rachel's I would like to see more of her in a follow up. A good detective story with believable characters which I would recommend. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

This was a roller coaster of a read and I really enjoyed how this author writes, she gets you involved in the story line straight away and it kept me on the edge of my seat throughout, with good characters, especially Detective Rachel Hart.

I can thoroughly recommend this book and will definitely be reading Rachel Hart Book 3. Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

I thought the first book in this series was great but this is even better. It was quite an intense and emotional read that grips you from page 1. The characters are very well thought out and likeable and the twists they get into make you just want to keep on reading until you have finished the book but also very sad the book ended. This can be read as a stand-alone if you haven’t read the first book in the series. I can’t wait for book 3.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.

I didn't read first book that introduce Rachel Hart but I really enjoy reading about her as she does her job.

Maddy is a top news anchor who is shock when she founds out her husband Simon was in a serious car accident he is premier league manager who is lucky to be alive even though he in a coma.

They have a daughter Siena who has some mental issues when Maddy finds Simon dairy she learns things about her husband that make her believe the car accident wasn't and accident.

When Rachel and her team investigate they open up things that seem to have been forgotten as they try to find out why someone want to enact revenge now. Rachel also dealing with her boyfriend who getting to close because she had trust issues.

I like this character Rachel she was flaw but always determined to solve the crime and I like that I didn't get bored like with some mystery thrillers I was hook from the first page and the dialogue was good.

As an avid reader of crime thrillers, this has got to be the best I’ve read for a long while. It revolves around the lives of ex professional footballers who all have a tangled past which catches up with them in various ways. Great read

Can you imagine discovering that your husband has been in a serious car crash from a television programme? Even worse what if you are the newsreader actually seeing the pictures for the first time as you follow the autocue to tell your audience all about it?

This is the nightmare a top news anchor finds herself in before rushing from the studio unable to speak about what she's just discovered. Simon Shaw is a successful premier league manager who is lucky to survive his accident but while he lies in a coma his wife, Maddy, and daughter, Siena, find all they thought they knew about their husband and dad crumbling away at the hands of a serial killer.

Detective Rachel Hart is back in this second book of what I hope will have more than a few follow ups to come. The discoveries she and her team make open up a case which spans decades and countries as they try to work out why someone suddenly wants vengeance for actions which had, in all likelihood, been forgotten by those involved all those years before.

I enjoyed this storyline very much; the further insights into Rachel's life added background to a character I already liked from the first book while the actual case was complex and very satisfying in the way it dealt with how the reporting and investigation of certain crimes has changed over time. As Maddy is a friend of Rachel's maybe she will get a mention in a future storyline which I really hope happens soon as there are unanswered questions towards the end of the story that need to be resolved.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers in exchange for an unbiased review and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good detective novel with believable characters and complex storylines. I can't wait for book three.

I enjoyed the first book in the Rachel Hart series but it wasn't a patch on this one. It takes place just a few months after the last case so the reader is able to see how it affected the various characters. This book centres around a completely different crime and features several strong characters. We are given a lot more information about the traumatic event in Rachel's past and can see how this has shaped her personality. The ending just leaves the reader begging for more so I hope it won't be too long before book 3 comes along. I may just be first in the queue.

Review posted on Goodreads and Amazon when book is released.

What an thrilling read! I am loving this new series by J.G. Roberts. Book two was an intense, emotional, entertaining read. The author has a way of making you connect with the characters and experience their plights. The foreshadowing at the end of the book, has me anxiously awaiting book number three! This series has made to my must read list! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of the book.

This is the first Rachel Hart series book I have read. I don't think it made a difference to my reading experience having not read the first one. There is enough information in this book for it to stand alone..

Maddy and Simon live a private but good life. Maddy is a news anchor on TV and Simon is the manager of a football team. They have one daughter Siena who has had some recent mental health issues due to the breakup of her relationship but she seems to be on the improve.

Until Simon is injured in a car crash. And Rachel Hart investigates and Maddy finds clues in Simon's diary that indicates it may not be a random incident of road rage after all. There's something from Simon's past linking him to some other men, some of whom have died in unusual circumstances. And Simon and Maddy's daughter's ex has made some threats.

Meanwhile Rachel has a boyfriend seemingly getting a little too close. Historically she tends to push people away and she has reasons for doing so. Trust issues, fear, and then there's her sister Ruth and her mental health history. One of the commonalities Rachel has with Maddy that sees them in this together.. What are they both prepared to risk to find out the truth?

What He Did has a great plot and subplot, although it is a little predictable in parts. There is action and complex relationships. Rachel falls a little bit short for me, she's the boss but it just doesn't sit with me. Things seem to happen around her, precipitated by others instead of Rachel being the catalyst.

I liked this book, I enjoyed it. I found the story convincing but there were some gaps that made it a good read rather than a great read.

Thank you to JG Roberts, Bookouture and Netgalley for this eARC in exchange for an honest review. Due for release 22 October 2019.

J. G. Roberts certainly has my vote! A thriller that captivated me from the start. The amazing twists in this story are what hooked me into reading in one day.

DCI Hart and her officers do an excellent job despite many obstacles - one being murder.

The author has the reader consistently guessing and wondering what the next move will be. Cases merge together in one heck of a book.

Recommend !

Many Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the chance to read this highly suspenseful story !

Having read the first book I just knew I was in for a treat!! And boy I wasn't disappointed!!
Loads of twists and turns throughout!! I read it in a day because I couldn't put it down. But I certainly didn't see a lot of the twists coming and I certainly didn't see the final twist!! Absolutely brilliant!!
