A beautiful edition of one of my favourite books. As a forever fan of Jane Austen, these new editions make for perfect gifts! They are beautiful to look at and collect |
Northanger Abbey is classic and and any Austenite will love the artwork on this edition. Follow the story of heroine Catherine Moreland as she looks for love and adventure and manages the triumphs and pitfalls of growing up. I was given a free copy of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. |
This edition of a well loved and yet underappreciated Jane Austen Classic, is fabulous! I cannot even tell how many times I have re-read this beloved classic from my favorite Jane Austen. I love this edition cover and I believe that this will bring in a lot of the young adults and young readers to this story of our lovely heroine, Catherine Morland. |
Adapted from one of the most underrated books of Jane Austen's, this book tells the same story that we have come to grow and love over time, but in a a new, original, youth-appealing format. Catherine is a forever loving fan of the gothic genre books, so much that she starts to believe they reflect the way the real life works. You can almost imagine all the problems and mischiefs that come out of this. The illustrations were so outstanding, I caught myself coming back to see some of them again. I truly recommend this to anyone who wants to discover Jane Austen in a very appealing format, as well as any forever Austen stans. |
I am an ardent fan of Pride and Prejudice and Jane Austen. So had to pick this one up. This tells us the story of Catherine Morland. She is a quiet girl who loved reading. Although se has read of many adventures, she didn't have any experiences of adventures of her own. When her mother's friends agree to take her to Bath, she is hoping to be part of some adventures. As the story progresses, there are romances, family drama and betrayals. This is quite easy and the story is conveyed in an understandable way targeting children. Illustrations were also good, and can also give an idea of the dressing etc. used in that period of time. But from a YA PoV this will be gone in a breeze and wouldn't get the whole essence of a Jane Austen novel |
Going into this reprint of Northanger Abbey , I knew I already loved it! I thought this new edition brought just a little something extra to the overall experience. |
I absolutely adored this edition!! Even though I know the storyline already the illustrations (even in digital form) add so much more to the text!! A brilliant way to appeal to new readers while also bringing another layer of magic to older ones! |
An amazing reprint of one of my favorite authors! I just adore Jane Austen writing and this book is just as sweet! |
Once a classic, always a classic. The new covers will hopefully attract a whole new generation of readers to Jane Austen and feed their appetite for reading. A story with a depth of emotion that still rings true for modern lives. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. |
Having picked this book up on several attempts, I am disappointed to report that I unfortunately could not finish it. |
This book is a fast-paced, enjoyable read for me. This retelling is a much awaited for people who loves a great middlegrade story. |
I received an advanced digital copy of this book from the author, publisher and Netgalley.com. Thanks to all for the opportunity to read and review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own. As always, Miss Jane Austen never fails to please and this fresh edit for modern readers will be a delight! 5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommend. |
Couldn’t finish. I think if you’re a fan of Jane Austen’s then you may enjoy this. But as much as I have tried several of her books, most recently being Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen is just not for me. I’m not fancy enough or something, but I just cannot get into her work for the life of me. This was no exception. |
Jane Austen is, of course, well known for books such as Pride and Prejudice, and Sense and Sensibility. But...she also wrote several other novels including this one. To me, Northanger Abbey is a bit different from Austen's other works. It is her version of the Gothic tales that were popular during her own time. In Austen's version, the protagonist, Catherine Morland, would like to be more exciting, more like a Gothic heroine. What will happen when Catherine leaves home for the first time? What will happen during her visit to Northanger Abbey? It is well worth reading this classic to find out! Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review. |

A beautifully illustrated cover paired with the incredible writing of Austen = utterly divine. This is my first time reading "Northanger Abbey", and though initially I was not immediately attracted to the plot, this lovely cover drew me in to read it anyways. |
Who can say anything bad about Jane Austen? Not me, for sure. It was my second time reading this one. It is not my favorite book of hers but I love her style and her MCs and the romance. |
This is the first Jane Austen I’ve read, and I was pleasantly surprised. I think it was a great novel to read for my first Jane Austen novel and I can’t wait to read some more Jane Austen novels. I really enjoyed the humor in the story and liked Austen’s take on societal norms, which I found really refreshing. I think the new cover will really appeal to the younger audience and it’s a nice modern take on a classic novel. Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with the E-Arc in exchange for an honest review. |
Thank you to Netgallery and the publisher for providing me for a digital arc for my honest review. Northanger Abby is one of my favorite Jane Austen novels. However, I thought ithis was going to be a graphic novel or perhaps it includes illustrations. I was wrong it's just a new edition with a new cover. I'm not going to lie the new cover is pretty nice, and fans who are interested in collecting different editions may be interested in bringing a copy back home. |
The classic with a beautiful new cover. The new cover brings to life Austen’s novel and attractive for a new generation of readers! |
